March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

callie as dd1 was little and somewhat early - I took my time weaning her so she was probably really weaned around the 6 month mark - just started off with a teaspoon of baby rice. We also had the issue of tongue thrusting and so we just had to take it easy.

With dd2 - I let her lead and she was not even remotely insterested in food per se until she was around the 7 month mark and then only a little bit. Sure makes up for it now.

kitty hope they are better soon!

Morocco, I think worrying is a bit of an occupational hazard of motherhood!

Callie, imagine having to go to work Cor I can hardly get ready in time as it is. Don't be broke, how about selling off your junk on ebay?

Mossy · 10/07/2007 08:42

Evenhope, I'm sorry to hear about your dh being such an arse. Bloody men. Well, I'm sure there are some men who aren't like that, but where they are, I'm not sure. "You wanted the baby" yes my dh has said that to me too, only joking of course yeah because these men, they just lay back and let it all happen, they don't have any choice in the matter do they?

Lily I'm with you on the footballer legs thing! I do get a bath every day, but only because it's easier than a shower because I can put Bertie in his bouncy chair next to the bath and talk to him while I bathe, stops him kicking off! But if dh ain't in the bed with me, what does it matter about the state of my legs? Bertie isn't complaining!

Kitty, Bertie loathes going on his front, too. Don't know how he'll ever crawl.

Muppet / Morocco - I have a sucky fish also! I wouldn't mind so much but he's so tiny and skinny, I don't know where he puts it! I used to say he wasted all his energy crying but he hasn't been as bad lately so I don't understand!! Yes, I have stopped looking at the clock as well, just too depressing!

Spongecake have posted on your rant thread.

Better go Bertie is waking from his "nap" of about twenty minutes!

TransfiguratingLily · 10/07/2007 08:51

just for the hell of it

TransfiguratingLily · 10/07/2007 08:55

translation

Mossy · 10/07/2007 09:05

Morocco / Lunar, yes my dh also feels he can "calm" Bertie by having a screaming contest with him. Hmm.

Morocco - don't google illnesses, it'll send you mad!!

Kitty I am glad to hear the colds are getting better.

Lily will look at your links in a bit, haven't even had chance to look at the geek link on my rant thread yet!!

Lunar, Bertie has rolled from his front onto his back a couple of times, but I think it's more of a fluke than anything! He normally cries the second I put him on his front for me to turn him over.

He started making cooing noises a week ago and since then hasn't shut up! So cute though, although sometimes I hear a slight "edge" to them and I know he's going to kick off!

Callie one of my rl friends has just started weaning her baby, six months old, she said it is very messy - good luck!!

Mossy · 10/07/2007 09:27

Anyone heard from Booboo btw? She hasn't been on for a bit, hope she is okay.

TransfiguratingLily · 10/07/2007 10:08

Mossy I was wondering that same thing on the lardy thread. It's just that she was really struggling wasn't she?

Piffle · 10/07/2007 11:11

morning all no rolling over here but we have walking like lunars Toby - can walk holding hands which quite frankyl is terrifying
He also can go up on hands and bring knees up and propel himself forwards or in a circle
He is about to roll I suspect and then baby proofing this house will occur.

Mossy posted a fair essay on your thread ignore me please!

Just realised Finn used to sleep from 8 11-5-8 waking only for feeding 7 mins and then resettling instantly

Now he goes down at 7.30 wakes at 9 for feed, 11.30 3.30 and 7.30

Still only waking once in my night but def feeding more.

well must go on and finish my de cluttering and spring clean [shines halo]

evenhope · 10/07/2007 11:24

mossy just read your thread. Sorry to hear you've been through the mill. At least your DH has an excuse that he is young and it's your first. Mine is 46 and has done this 4 times before, so should know better

He says she screams every time I leave her. May be something to do with being sat on his lap and ignored while he reads the paper/ stares at the TV, eh?

On the weaning front, I've noticed DD seems to be very interested in our food. Sometimes her mouth moves as we eat! I was planning to hold off until she is 6 months but I'm wondering if these are signs she is ready for something other than milk? spongecake did yours actually eat the banana?

muppethasakitten · 10/07/2007 11:53

Must confess to having sieved some banana for Samuel - he gobbled it up no probs... haven't done it for a few days as we've been too out and about but can't imagine I'll have a problem weaning him at all (although am trying to hold off bit longer as it's all such a blinkin' faff)

I've said it b4 and I'll say it again... we have a real duty to raise our sons right so they don't dish out a load of nonsense to women in the future!

DollyPopsOut · 10/07/2007 14:50

Where is Foxy today?

DD1 is poorly - upset tum, very grumpy, not herslef at all. Keeps saying her head hurts. Thank god for Calpol. DD2 fine.

Got a test from a work mate asking me to chair a meeting when I was back on `1st Sept! I think not. End of Nov at the earliest, so I can get paid for Christmas whilst doing very little.

Am back on the diet now so will be over on the fatties thread shortly.

Piffle · 10/07/2007 15:27

also meant to say Mossy thanks for the dreambag link Finn very happy in his one and the sizgin far better than gro bags for the under arm poppers.

Mossy · 10/07/2007 18:49

Lily I know Booboo said things had not been great with her and her dh, I just hope she is all right.

Evenhope has your dh been like that each time or is he worse now?

Piffle glad Finn likes his dreambag! I think I should contact that company and get them to put me on commission, I have recommended them to all the mums in my mums & tots group too, I should deffo be on a referral fee!

Dolly meeting in September? Good heavens! Hope your dd1 is feeling better soon.

Muppet, too right, if Bertie ever marries / has kids I will tell him to be ridiculously nice to my dil!!

Right his cooing is now grizzly so better go, see y'all tomorrow!!

sazzybee · 10/07/2007 19:10

Hello all

Sorry your DD1 isn't feeling well dolly - hopes she perks up soon and that DD2 stays well. It's really horrid when little children aren't well - so sad that you can't wave a wand and make them better.

Also sorry to hear that some of you are having issues with your DPs. Mossy I haven't contributed to your thread (although I have read bits here and there) as I feel that I can't even cope with any relationship with a bloke so not really in a position to advise. Hats off to the rest of you for trying!

I have to say I agree with you muppet - we have a duty as mothers to raise sons who don't expect women to run around after them. I'm determined to get Elliot involved in tidying up after himself as soon as practical!

He is going to be 17 weeks tomorrow! He's a big lad but not terribly advanced it seems - no signs of rolling over or anything clever like that but he's happy and smiley and sleeps for at least 10 hours at night so I'm very pleased with him on the whole

Mossy · 10/07/2007 19:43

Sazzy have you got your CDs yet? I tried to email you but it bounced back to me.

sazzybee · 10/07/2007 20:54

Mossy I've been away but there is a packet for me to pick up at the post office so could that be them? I'm going tomorrow to collect so I'll let you know then.

How weird your email bounced back - did you reply to the one I sent you?

morocco · 10/07/2007 21:09

the plague ridden ones are improving , noticed today whilst googling (I know I know) that one of the rare complications of impetigo is, cue hollow laughter, the exact same thing ds1 actually has, nephrotic syndrome. oh the irony. and now he has started relapsing - nothing serious as yet so am trying not to stress. am sure it will happen just in time for our holidays.
evenhope - are our dh's brothers or something? or trained at the same school of looking after small babies?
at all active babies about to crawl/walking holding hands etc. ds1 and ds2 were like that but dd1 is keener on a chat and bit of a snack. remind me again, who does she take after

foxcub · 10/07/2007 21:57

I can't keep up with you lot!!! I keep popping on and then something happens and I haven't even had time to read your posts!

Kitty Monti is 18 weeks ( I think...). Haven't had his second jab done 'cos he had a cold for weeks, then I made an appointment and forgot to turn up.

Lunar - Toby sounds totally amazing,. very clever like his Mum obviously. Monti is about 4 weeks older and at the same stage - doing stuff as you describe, so Toby is very advanced - what a star!!

OMG - have lost the plot now and can't remember what anyone has said

Been a bit distracted as late, what with work (sorted), builders (now departed - happily) and mastitis (sorted) - hope to get back on again.

Have just eaten a whole galia melon

foxcub · 10/07/2007 22:04

Ohh yeah - we should really do a summer meet uo you know - Brighton Beach or something in August

Callieco · 10/07/2007 22:29

My little boy has taken his first mouthful! Oh, it was an emotional 10 mins, followed by gales of laughter as Jordi once again showed his natural comic timing. DP was videoing, so if we ever find a site we can upload it too, I'll post a link. I have to say, as predicted, he took to it like a duck to water, and seemed less than impressed when the bottle went back in his mouth. I feel relieved now we've started, although I'm still not looking forward to the pureeing, but then I'm not exactly a natural cook so no surprises there. I'm sticking to baby rice for a few days anyway, see how that goes. I had him weighed today to see what he is before solids begin and he was 17lb 7oz or 7.9ish kg. That's the smallest weight gain yet, just 1lb in nearly four weeks.

Dolly, sorry about poorly DD . Hope she gets better soon.

Muppet, I'm with you on the raising our boys right vis-a-vis treating women right. Have to say, DP is a fairly good role model in that way as he does all the cooking, and although messy, he does wash up and do other stuff. I'm equally as messy though so can't complain.

Hello everyone else [waves].

kittywits · 10/07/2007 22:34

Callie that's great news

Oh yes summer meet up down here, pleeeeeese

morocco · 10/07/2007 22:59

wayhay
go jordie!!
imagine what they'd weigh by the age of 5 if they kept on growing at the same rate they do the first few months

TransfiguratingLily · 11/07/2007 08:03

Callie, carrot is a good one. It's sweet. That's what I'll be starting Hasan on in a couple of months -I am not an enthusiastic cook either but baby food is okay. I get totally deflated when the children won't eat the healthy food I give them.
It's really emotive..that urge to feed never goes away. And when I've managed to feed them garlic and lots of vitamins then I'm so pleased!

I hope all the colds and flus are better soon.
Morocco, I just googled nephrotic syndrome to get a better idea of what it is. It's not much fun is it?
Thank goodness nowadays we can treat these things. And in the future maybe cure them. (I am hoping for a cure to peanut allergy for dd!)

Diva is it world of warcraft that Toy plays? Ds1 got it in the post yesterday. So needless to say I couldn't get on the computer most of yesterday! He's all excited

Mossy · 11/07/2007 08:23

Morning all!

Good heavens, is Bertie a sucky fish or what? I might as well just re-attach the placenta at night I think! I don't think though that he is hungry each time, as sometimes he has a proper feed, then sometimes he just sucks a few times then goes back to sleep. Any tips for limiting the number of night "feeds" to actual feeds, iyswim?

Sazzy yes I replied to your email, how strange! Let me know if your packet is the CDs!

Morocco I hope everything is okay with your dc's and it doesn't all kick off in time for your holiday. We will have to do our meet up, Blackpool beach! Beginning of August, the only day I can't do is when my mate is getting married, and off hand I can't remember what date that is [bad friend emoticon] may be 11th I'll check.

Foxy I'm glad to hear you're getting everything sorted, mastitis sounds nasty glad it's gone!

Callie congratulations to you and Jordi on the weaning!!

Lily I suppose that is one thing to be thankfful about with dh, he is a healthy cook so hopefully Bertie will get some goodness into him when he starts weaning.

As for your summer meet-up; oh, I love Brighton but it would be quite complicated for me to get there... I think it might be three of us in Blackpool instead!!
