March 2007 - can't keep up

eidsvold · 18/06/2007 08:06

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Last night she slept 8.30 till 8am

Yesterday she managed to roll from her back to her front

Today we took her swimming for the first time and she loved it,cant wait to go again.

Shall read messages tomorrow and try to reply

divastrop · 08/07/2007 23:48

foxy-my baby goes to bed between 7.30+8pm now.she has been very windy and constipated for the past week though,i think she's teething, teething seems to have a strange effect on dd2's digestive system also.

theblonde-i think i still have an essex accent, till i speak to my sister or mum.i dont know what i sound like now,i dont think i sound northern, but then again, nobody calls me a cockney up here anymore

shanks-of Deanna's sleeping!

sponge-what rant thread?

ok,why am i still on MN at this time of night?i blame the entertaining in the news threads that have 100's of posts...

TransfiguratingLily · 09/07/2007 08:46

Sponge, I'm only nice on the outside..inside I'm fighting with my demons trying to stop them taking over! The restaurant biz is not very family friendly is it!

Shanks that is great that Deanna is doing so brilliantly. Hasan rolled from his back to front too and he was on the settee, lucky I was watching, so now it's that stage when they can roll off beds if you turn your back. I think all my previous babies have fallen off the bed at this stage

Callie, I followed dh around for a few years but eventually I had to put down roots and be solid for the children and let dh revolve around that, because he is always on the move, hunting and gathering like the captain caveman that he is. So I chose the place where I have family support and a network of friends. if he moved in with me, he would be like a caged bear, and I don't really want to cage him. It almost works but not quite. So not sure how to change it for the better.

kittywits · 09/07/2007 09:46

Hello all {smile}
Was going to do ots of replies over the weekend. We have all come down with a REVOLTING cold however, so time's limited. Anyway hugs to you all xxx

Ronnie was 3 months old yesterday, hooray. Still a miserable bugger though , not long to go though.

muppethasakitten · 09/07/2007 11:38

Kitty - keep forgetting Ronnie is so much younger! Samuel was 4 months on thursday!!

Hugs to you mossy - off to read your thread...

eidsvold · 09/07/2007 11:47

dd3 has been brilliant for ages - waking just once in the night - fab especially now it is getting really cold HOWEVER she must be due a growth spurt as she has taken to waking every two hours!!!

Back to usual today - winter holidays are finished. I think dd1 had a good time and she has a little photo album that I made for her to take to kindy and school to help her talk about her holidays.

dd2 has decided that she wants to be a big girl now - so no more nappies. She has been pretty good taking herself off to the toilet although I have had to bin two pairs of little undies due to huge poos. She is quite happy to wear the training pants are we are down to one or two accidents. So spent a better part of last week washing and drying undies. Today we went and bought some wiggles ones that she had chosen.

She is so adamant about wearing undies that last night ( bloody cold night!) she got out of bed, stripped her pjs, nappy and all off and just put undies on and went back to bed - poor thing was moaning she was cold this morning. No accidents though. Will see how she goes tonight.

Dd1 is slowly getting the idea of taking herself off to the toilet - did it twice today at kindy so very proud of her. Have also bought her wiggles undies as a bit of an incentive.

callie I started with pumpkin and pear for dd2 - pear is apparently a very good weaning food - does not cause any reaction. I know dd2 would get a red bum whenever she had anything with mango in it. With dd1 I started with organic baby rice and she sort of tolerated it BUT they both just loved cooked and pureed and then mashed veges, pears, apples and bananas.

I really would like to know how old all your babes are. Could you all give me an idea? Ta very much

LunarSea · 09/07/2007 12:27

kitty - Toby is 13 weeks + 5 days.

Still waking once a night to feed, but I'm not bothered as we're brestfeeding/co-sleeping so I don't have to get up, and when he helps himself hardly even have to wake up!

Not doing so well weight wise - he's slipped from 91st percentile at birth, to only just above 50th now (am being threatened with being refered if he crosses the 50% line) - but physically he's doing really well - I thought ds1 did everything early (he crawled the day he turned 5 months), but if anything Toby's ahead of where he was at this stage.

He can push up from his tummy onto his hands, bring his legs up under his body with his bottom in the air (but not both of those at the same time yet), roll front-to-back and back-to-front, creep (sort of very slow commando crawl) to get to things out of reach, get himself from reclining to sitting and sometimes sit up unsupported for short periods, stand supporting his own weight, and is starting to walk with both hands held. I reckon all that activity must be burning loads of calories, which explains why he's not piling on weight.

Mossy · 09/07/2007 12:40

Well, things slightly better with dh, have posted on relationships thread.

Kitty, Bertie is three months on Wednesday. Still wakes up three times a night, but like Lunar, I'm co-sleeping and have finally gotten the hang of feeding lying down, so it doesn't bother me too much, although I still have an earlier night!

Lunar, Bertie is only on the ninth centile, he is a titch! He is only 11lbs, but dh is only 5'8" and has quite a skinny frame. Toby sounds dead clever, sitting up by himself!!

Eids good luck with the toilet training, I haven't even thought that far ahead, sounds scary!!

Kitty I hope all the colds get better quicksmart.

Lily I'm sorry to hear about your relationship difficulties, I think you sound really sanguine about it, I think I'd be tearing my hair out if it were me. How is your dh now?

Shanks can't believe how well Deanna sleeps! Did you put her on a schedule or something or did it just "happen"?

oh balls Bertie hungry will now have to type with 1 hand

Diva when we have our meetup I will report back to this thread on whether you're more "ey up" or whether you're still "innit"!!

was going to write more but noe have to get ready 4 mums & tots back later!!

kittywits · 09/07/2007 12:40

Wow lunar he's amazing for only 13 weeks . Don't take any notice of the HV Toby sounds as fit and happy as a.. fit and happy thing .
I haven't had Ronnie weighed for yonks. He's such a skinny bean. He was 91st last time he was weighed. I would be very suprised if he still is, perhaps I should go and find out.

I haven't put Ronnie on his tum much as he hates it. He much preferes sitting and tries to pull himself to sitting upright froma semi reclining position.

He's starting to reach out for toys and hold on to them, but his hands are still fisted alot of the time.
my kids haven't been that early for crawling but they have all been walking confidently from 9-10 months.

evenhope · 09/07/2007 12:43

I've lost count of how old my DD is in weeks She'll be 4 months on Friday. She rolled from front to back early but still can't go the other way.

She still doesn't sleep before 11- 11.30pm and it is so frustrating. She sleeps on until 10am so if only she'd do 8-8 it would be wonderful.

She went to sleep at 9pm mid-feed last night. I put her in her cot so I could have a bath. 10 minutes later she was babbling to herself. 10 minutes or so later she was crying. Got out, took her downstairs, woke up DH and said could he just have her for 1/2 an hour so I could have a bath. Less than 25 minutes later he was back upstairs (for the second time) moaning that she wouldn't stop screaming, so I had to get out. I was very

Told him that next time he takes himself off for a 20 minute shave or a 30 minute toilet he should give a thought to the fact that I can't.. His response was "you wanted the baby". Yes I did, and I love her to bits, but wanting one hour to myself to have a bath once a fortnight when she is glued to my hip (and other parts) for the remainder of 24 hours a day 7 days a week isn't too much to ask and doesn't constitute neglect. Are other DHs such an arse?

evenhope · 09/07/2007 12:45

kitty I read your post as Ronnie was 91 stone

Mossy · 09/07/2007 12:46

Evenhope "are other dh's such an arse?"

Yes!

TransfiguratingLily · 09/07/2007 13:40

Lunar Toby sounds very clever. I wouldn't worry about the weight, hope you don't get hassled about it.

Hi Evenhope, I hardly get a bath nowadays either. I used to bathe everyday and shave my legs everyday now it's a quick shower and legs like a footballer.

Hasan had his second injection today, I said to the hv I thought he was 13 or 14 weeks old, but he is 16 weeks weighs 16lbs 6 oz. Is 63.5 cm long and he's in the 75th centile.

Dh has been fasting because he might get the angiogram thing today. If not he'll have to fast again for tomorrow. He sounds a bit flat unsurprisingly. I bet he's already lost loads of weight. It's so mad that I still haven't seen him. Will see him friday.

muppethasakitten · 09/07/2007 14:01

evenhope - men can be such arses... I hate that old line "you wanted the baby"... it's such a cop out.

So of all your lo's doing marathon sleeps. I defo win the prize for the most night feeds ... tbh I don't even count them most nights as that would be too depressing... certainly don't look at the clock to check the time... that would send me over the edge!

Samuel is 4 months now and has never slept for more than 4 hours in his life!!! (DD and DS1 were both sleeping through by 3 months).

Lunar - I reckon you're totally right... if Toby is doing all those things how the heck can the HV be concerned? I'm sure i read the bf babies dip at some point anyway on those blinking centile charts. I think the only reason samuel has held his line is because he is STILL constantly attached to me in his sucky fish way. It is like still being attached to the placenta... constant food....

divastrop · 09/07/2007 14:43

Elsie is 4 months today!she slept from 8pm-6.15am last night.

i think i used the 'well you wanted the baby'line on dp once.

lunar-its not suprising Toby isnt gaining much weight the amount he is doing.my ds2 and dd2 didnt even roll over till 8/9 months.Elsie is all squidgey as she likes to just sit there.she said 'do' today though, another of my girls who likes to talk.dont know where they get it from

i had a dream last night that there was a riot, between hardcore anti-fruit shoot MN'ers and mums from a rival parenting forum.there were people being shot, stabbed etc etc.i really shouldnt have stayed up till 11.45 reading that shrek/MMC thread.

DollyPopsOut · 09/07/2007 16:49

DD2 is 16 weeks today and sleeps from 10.30 to about 7.

Have read everyone's post but brain not in gear today and can't remember much.

Lunar, Toby sounds phenomenal. What a clever boy. DD2 has also cruised down the charts. I have only had her weighed once though and no one suggested a referral, even though she has fallen from near the top to around the 50th. I agree that he is burning up energy with all the rolling around.

Sorry about your lack of sleep Muppet. Hope DS gets the hang of it soon. DD1 barely slept and I was a wreck for the first 4 months, so you are doing brilliantly in retaining your sanity.

Kitty, sorry you are all ill. Hope you get better soon.

Evenhope, sorry your DH is being a pain. Mine is also not behaving brilliantly. It's very annoying isn't it?

Hello everyone else - off to nursery now to get DD1. More later.

morocco · 09/07/2007 20:44

ooh it's interesting reading about your babies, dd is 16 weeks ish now and is doing none of those exciting things your lot are doing apart from the eating all day and night bit (know how you feel, muppet about 'sucky fish'). she likes a little snack every hour and a half or so, not a big feed or anything, just a little snack, but if I'm not there she sounds like she's about to expire of hunger . I left her for an hour with dh this weekend and he sneakily defrosted one of my scbu bottles and fed it to her in a skanky old cup he didn't even rewash, never mind sterilise . so she has had her first bottle of ebm. she's 75th percentile weight and height and not half as active as my boys were but looks quite strong and solid.

todays bad news is both ds's have impetigo. coincides with dh shaving their hair yesterday so now they look like real scallies. it's awful, scabs everywhere. cos ds1 is imunosuppressed he has it really badly, poor lamb, in his mouth and everything. they're on antibiotics so hopefully it will clear up fast but I dread beautiful dd getting it. we are social pariahs.

hope your dh is doing ok lily.

yes, my dh can be equally twatty as well, his idea of looking after dd is looking at her screaming while he reads the paper. sure she appreciates the attention

kittywits · 09/07/2007 20:54

Morocco your poor ds's. Impetigo is really pants. Hope the ab's clear it all up double quick.

LunarSea · 09/07/2007 21:06

morocco - I think all dh's have their mad moments (some more than others of course). I once found mine trying to prove that he could outscream Toby if it came to a contest. Not surprisingly it didn't actually stop Toby from yelling!

spongecake · 09/07/2007 22:08

lunar that's very funny- my dp also yowls if ds yowls. he makes sure i;m not there though..

diva, "link is here" advice welcome ladies..mossy, pls feel free, i have given you my tuppence worth on yours

all these lovely clever babies! mine is 4 months- he is about 20 lls i think- last weighed at 12 wks and he was 17.11. he tried to snatch a banana off me yesterday and shove it in his mouth- he likes his baby cup thing he can hold alone and drink water from.

thanks for the tip re pear for weaning, will try soon.

he has been sick everytime he bf today- doc said maybe tummybug but he is v jolly as usual. he went to bed as usual and is sleeping, which amazes me as he must be hungry.

eidsvold · 09/07/2007 22:51

dd3 is 16 weeks on Friday - no idea what she weighs - although she was almost 6kg last time she was weighed - which was about three or four weeks ago.

OP posts:
morocco · 09/07/2007 23:05

i really really must never ever again google complications - please send me a cyber slap on wrist
now sat here worrying ds1 will get mrsa
how ridiculous do I make my life???
aaargh, am turning into my mother. she once lost an entire night;s sleep worrying about a 80 pence tax bill

Callieco · 09/07/2007 23:06

Eids, thanks for weaning tips. I didn't manage to do it today as I had to go to town and didn't get back in time for my chosen time, iyswim!

Jordi was six months/four months on Sunday - . In the parallel universe of six months mat leave, I should have started back at work today . Ha ha. However it does mean I am officially broke from today. He is 26 weeks today too. He goes to sleep any time between 7.30 and 8.30 and has a few times slept till 7.30, but it varies between 5.30 and 7.30. He sometimes wakes in the night but I can usually get him back to sleep without having to feed him.

Sponge - it was always my fantasy to end up with a French bloke... Sounds like a great way to get on with your MIL - not share a language!

Lunar - oh my god, Toby is superbaby.

kittywits · 10/07/2007 07:04

Thnaks for keeping me up to speed with your babies. it does help when you're talking about what they're doing.

Morocco, what complications? I know what you mean about googling illnesses. No, don't do it ever again!

calli, it's hard to believe that you've had Jordi for 6 months now
Sponge I'll check your link

Well I shall see how ill everone is today. All but dd3 are still asleep, methinks the colds are getting worse. dd3 is noiw better so that means a three day cold, not too bad.
