March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Piffle could he work from home for part of the time? Or have you friends or family close to work where he could stay some nights? That amount of commuting would take it's toll. Is the job definately worth it?

Hasan just peed on me and the computor. serves me right for being too slow to dress him! Ds2 is doing great at the weeing in the toilet.

Dh is waiting for an angiogram test today where they feed a catheter up his artery to the heart and feed in dye. He might also get an angioplasty proceedure where the blow up a little balloon to widen narrowed arteries. Been searching the web to understand what's happening.
had a serious chat with dh and it was awful...we never have serious chats. We were stilted with long silences

divastrop · 05/07/2007 17:01

rosy-hope your dh is ok

hello everybody.i got back yesterday.it was ok at my mums,Elsie was a little star and just smiled all the time.

i have skim-read all the post but feeling a bit atm,i will come back when i feel a bit better.

kitty-let me know how much you make on ebay so i know what reserve to put on my lot

TransfiguratingLily · 05/07/2007 17:47

Thanks Diva, glad it was ok at your mums and Elsie was easy for you, that's great.

Ds2 is potty training himself brilliantly, he took himself off and did his poos on the loo...first time. Then called for me to clean him. I'm very pleased!

I got a loola delivered today that I got on ebay and I'm so excited, it is fabulous, I love it...new toy!

I am getting organised to fly to cork next thursday I think. With ds2 and ds3. ds1 and dd will go to the caravan in Donegal with my family. Dh thinks he may still be in hospital but hopefully coming out around then. Then I'll drive him up. That's the plan anyway.

kittywits · 05/07/2007 18:25

Tranny, what's a loola?

Diva, glad everything went well. There's no reserve on mine, a penny a piece

TransfiguratingLily · 05/07/2007 18:40

supery doopery pushchair

TransfiguratingLily · 05/07/2007 18:47

You can face it either way, I like to have them facing me when they are still little. And it folds down very neatly. It is a dream to push. It's brill. I love ebay!
Not that I'm drowning my sorrows in shopaholicism or anything

Piffle · 05/07/2007 20:44

Ooh I tried a loola when pregnant put dd in it as she is size of 2 yr old and in reverse mode bejaysus it was a nightmare to push.
Ok for smaller ones but as dd is only 14 kgs... well Finn is half her weight already

I must say I adore my bugaboo cameleon, really really like it. Consider it an investment as I bought it 2nd hand and it will keep its value. So as I told dp it's essentially FREE! LOL

Have ordered a few dreambags TY mossy! How are things with DH today?

Not sure about dp working from home as it is setting up a whole new site and he is the manager of the entire thing with about 20 staff under him so he has to be there

I think he will def have to find digs 2 ngihts a week
Any of you live within 1/2 hr of Luton and have a spare room and want some cash?

TransfiguratingLily · 05/07/2007 22:59

Bugaboos look great I'm so enthusiastic about pushchairs nowadays. It's so important (in fact positively essential)to have one you like, I think. There are some great designs out there nowadays.

Dh is bored which is a good sign. I sent him some jokes.

Must go to lardy ladies and then bed.

Mossy · 06/07/2007 08:35

Morning all, just a quick one as Bertie is entertaining himself with the cotmobile... but for how long? If history is my guide I have another five minutes.

Lily I agree with you on the pushchairs - Bertie hates his pram so I never use it. Mil bought it us, and it was really expensive. I'm hoping that when he gets a bit older, and can go in the sitty up position, he'll like it a bit more. Atm all he can see is the hood of the pram!

Piffle I don't know how dh is; he made some funny comments yesterday but I'm refusing to rise to the bait, and spent most of last night just concentrating on Bertie as the poor mite has a cold.

Diva I'm so glad everything went okay for you and Elsie was a star.

Eids glad you had a good time at the toy store!

Poor Bertie is coming down with the major snuffles so it was no wonder the other night he had been almost constantly awake. I gave him some baby paracetamol last night which didn't help him sleep more but it did mean that each time he woke, he at least wasn't crying!

sazzybee · 06/07/2007 09:12

Morning all

I had my 'do' last night and got quite drunk and now I have a hangover I had forgotten how grim they are - I can't believe how awful I feel. It was quite fun going out on the razz although I'm not sure the aftereffects are worth it. One of my colleagues got so drunk she passed out at the dinner table while talking to the managing partner and had to be carried out to her husband's car who fortunately had driven to collect her anyway as they live quite far outside London.

My mum and Elliot are still sleeping and I want them to wake up because I miss him. I am only awake because of my bloody neighbours crashing around upstairs. She swears they never wear shoes in the house but they must have very hard feet if that's true.

We're off to Bristol today to visit my bessie mate so we will see how E fares on the journey. Will he scream I wonder?

Nice to have you back diva.

Piffle · 06/07/2007 10:04

oh SAzzy hnagovers are the pits when you have babies
Sympathies and hope your neighbours aren't really horses you know

Mossy Finn is also snotty and more tired than usual. Wakes up very cross as he cannot suck his thumb, being a tummy sleeper makes it worse too...

Well it's friday!!!!!
Hooray!

muppethasakitten · 06/07/2007 10:26

tranny - so sorry to hear about your dh what i worry and a scare for you. Sounds like the hospital is on the case - my aunt had the angio thing recently... think it's quite a routine-ish thing now... he'll prolly have to take things easy after though for a bit... will you go and stay with him or will he come to you??

You have my empathy with Hasan feeding through the night... to be fair Samuel has always done it to an extent - never gone more than 4 hours between feeds day or night really - mostly it's 3 hourly. Certainly got ridiculous last couple of weeks at night. I reckon he gets more milk by night than by day!

As for weaning - i'm giving him tastes of things but not properly feeding solids yet... he's approaching 20lbs - so more than doubled his birthweight - which is another sign he's ready for some solids... he's been so interested in food for so long - even my HV agrees it would be tough to solely bf for another 2 months.

Piffle · 06/07/2007 10:30

20lbs muppet crikey what is in your milk then

Finn is 15 wks and 15lbs something or 7 kgs

added a few more pics btw

muppethasakitten · 06/07/2007 10:33

God only knows Piff... dh says it's prolly just like macdonalds chocolate milkshake the amount of mini eggs i eat . DD and DS1 were both titchy and below 50th centile so Samuel is complete freak.

Whilst on that subject - what next stage car seats do people have and when can we put them in them? I can no longer carry him in the first stage one and we gave our old 2nd stage one away... so am in the market for one now. Any advice???

muppethasakitten · 06/07/2007 10:39

oh - just saw they have to be 9 months.... bit early then!

Piffle · 06/07/2007 10:52

muppet we got a bebe iseos which goes from birth to 4
DD has come out of it and Finn will start using it soon
It's an excellent seat I think.

I eat tons of haagen das too muppet it's borderline addiction.

eidsvold · 06/07/2007 11:10

we have one here in Aus that goes from birth to 4 although we chucked dd2 out of it and into a stage 3 booster that still had the 5 pt harness so she was not miffed when d3 came along and 'stole' her car seat.

In the UK - we managed to have our stage 0 or whatever it is until dd1 was almost 12 months old. She was soo ditty.

We just got a Britax eclipse and it was brilliant for her.

shes crying again for milk, better go

muppethasakitten · 06/07/2007 15:08

oh piff i like that iseos - so have you got fin in that now? Does it face forwards? How can it see them through to 4?... need to research it don't i! Like the look of it though... may have to go shopping!

TransfiguratingLily · 06/07/2007 15:30

I've booked my flights to cork for next friday morning, it was £10 cheaper each...now I realise I'm flying on Friday 13th. I wonder if that's why they were cheaper.

We have a britax carseat waiting for Hasan from 20lbs ie 9 months. Does anyone know if that means once they are 20lbs they are okay to go in it? He is already filling the newborn baby seat...

kittywits · 06/07/2007 16:25

We have a britax freeway for Clara, but daddylong legs here is going to have trouble with his ist stage seat soon, so clara might get shoved out!

morocco · 06/07/2007 20:20

I've got em in 2 different seats, the baby one that clips on a pushchair and a rear/forward facing one that should last her through til about aged 4, she looks fine in it now though she looked a bit swamped in it at first. the council has a road safety person who can advise apparently?
emily looks all spotty today, could it be from her jabs the other day?
I'm getting a few jobs lined up now starting in sept at nurseries doing kiddy french, I'm really looking forward to doing all these cute songs and stories with the littlees. now need to work out what on earth I'm going to do with my brood while i'm out!

foxcub · 06/07/2007 20:51

Hi everyone

Tranny - glad your Dh is feeling well enough to feel bored!!

Mossy - I promoted Monti to sitting up 2 or 3 weeks ago and he so much enjoys it! Makes him feel like a big boy and he's very nosy so can eyeball everyone now. He also hated lying down too - must be quite boring!

Well we are in mouring here as not only has DS1's pet stag beetle died (well, it was cheap...)..but my Italian friend (who was getting on my nerves when I was PG) is leaving the Uk in two weeks. No it wasn't 'cos of anything I said...

She wrote me a letter telling me I'm the best friend she ever had and thanking me for all ourt meetings. She said that even when she was feeling low she would think of me and feel better. I feel very rotten now for having bad thoughts about her and had a little cry 'cos I think it will shock me when I realise she's not here anymore...

Why am I a hard hearted cow when other people can be so nice?
