March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

H ieveryone,

Hope everyones okay?

I took Deanna to her first teddy bears picnic today run by the pre school alliance.Met up with the rest of the mum and baby group and we had fun.....it poured down.

There was about 8 of us with our babies sitting on blankets in the pouring rain, luckily with about 6 umbrellas covering us.It was fun lol.

Deanna enjoyed seeing the little ducklings and rabbits there but the rest of it she was asleep

morocco · 04/07/2007 21:55

omg sazzybee, what a weird day!!!

had a great day today meeting a few friends with babies and dropped off my milk to the hosp!! I'm getting v lax about expressing now but am going to try to keep going for a few more weeks after the hols are over.

em is in 2.5tog and also often snuggles up under the duvet - [bad mum] - my last 2 were born/raised under an african sun so this seems pretty tame by comparison, I keep thinking she will be cold. I guess not really cos she was born here and knows no better (having hardly seen the sun!!). she's at the bottom of the so called 0-6 months though which I can't believe, she's not that long, surely.

kiwibella · 04/07/2007 22:04

oooo... what fascinating Sazzy - it is such a small world! Did you let on that you had previously been in a relationship with her hubby??

Congrats on the promotion / head hunting Piffle. That is fabbo for your dh. What do you think you will do about the commute?

The dream bags are lovely Mossy. Kate's is a heavier tog (2?? 2.5??) and I did think that I had an excuse to buy a summer weight one from that sight but maybe not after reading Sazzy's post. I don't want anything disturbing my lil gal's sleep!

She crashed about 6pm tonight. I hope that doesn't mean she will wake early .

I can't seem to fill her up at the moment... she was bottle fed while I was away on the weekend (breast and formula) so I have ended up giving her a bottle of formula each afternoon this week. Today, she started screaming in ASDA so I broke out the rusks which were in the shopping. She gobbled it down - actually that's a complete lie, she sort of sucked at it and made a gooey mess. I guess this means we are weaning?? I might give the health visitor a call to talk about this... but any input from our experienced mummies would be helpful too.

Diva.... hope you are back safe and sound.

kiwibella · 04/07/2007 22:06

x posts... shanks - sounds like absolute fun!! I love the rain too. There's nothing like going home to a hot bath afterwards. Hi Morocco!

Rosy... any news on your dh today???

foxcub · 04/07/2007 22:27

Just skimming...

Sazzy - LOl at the llama raising! - wierd about the woman married to your ex though - how spooky is that?

Dolly I have a long red knitted dress which would match your coat - size about 14/16 if only I was organised enough I could post it to you. Sounds a bit wierd but its lovely and am dispensing clothes and clutter. How about just a black top and black skirt/torusers, covered by your lovely red coat thingy? Add a nice necklace perhaps and dangly earrings?

Ok I'm cra[ at clothes too...

Tranny - any more news on your DH? You poor thing, you must be out of your mind with worry [cyber hugs]

Had Polish builders in house for the last three days and likely tomorrow/and Fri...still arguing with work too

Ho Hum thank heavens for Rose...{hiccup!]

kittywits · 04/07/2007 22:29

bollocks, I've got too many children

foxcub · 04/07/2007 22:30

I blame the bollocks for that kitty...

kittywits · 04/07/2007 22:32

Can I change my mind? I want to give some back , I'm not qualified for the job and I'm making a mess of it. Call social services please

foxcub · 04/07/2007 22:37

e-bay?

LunarSea · 04/07/2007 22:40

kiwi - I met sme friends for coffee today and had Toby sitting on my lap, supporting him with the same hand that happened to also be holding a chocolate digestive[guilty emoticon]. Anyway was chatting away and not paying him too much attention when the others pointed out that he'd licked most of the chocolate off the biscuit. So I guess that means we're weaning too!

spongecake · 04/07/2007 22:43

ooh sazzy, that sounds a bit strange, was your friend embarressed? think i would have been. i met a woman last year who droned for ages about her perfect boss and amazing/ goodloooking/ clever he was, apart from the serial shagging and his poor girlfriend, how sorry for her they were and how glad when she finally threw him out. turned out he was my ex. took ages for the penny to drop so many men are assholes...

do baby sleeping bags work? am worried will be difficult to bf and change with out waking ds up. at mo he keeps his eyes shut during nightly activities

ooh, car alarm just gone off. dp doesn;t believe the car has one and thinks i am crazy

kittywits · 04/07/2007 22:44

Ronnie's only 12 weeks and today I was eating some cheesecake and he was fixated on my spoon, he then grabbed my plate and started pulling it. I guess it won't be too long for him either. My how time flies.

foxcub · 04/07/2007 22:50

..well Monti looked seriously interested in my banana

{as the Bishop said to the Actress}

foxcub · 04/07/2007 22:50

Lunar - LOk at him licking the chocolate off - Bless!!

foxcub · 04/07/2007 22:51

am getting my nersd fiddled up

...time for zzzzzzzzzzzzz

foxcub · 04/07/2007 22:52

..words muddled up I mean..

TransfiguratingLily · 05/07/2007 08:01

Piffle how exciting about the new job. How would he commute? At least if he goes by train he could use the time?

Shanks that sounds loads of fun.

I am in constant contact with my ex..we have a son. So I've known all about his crazy love life all these years...
Sazzy did you like meeting the family of your ex or was it painful?

Hasan isn't in a sleep bag yet, he's just snuggled in with me. He doesn't open his eyes or cry either ..he head butts me to wake me and feed him!
And on that subject, i was wondering what was happening with everyones babies, and you are all talking about it!
Muppet I know you are feeding alot at night and we have developed the same problem, I just feel as if Hasan has been suckling almost all night and I'm exhausted. He used to just have one or two little feeds.

I was hoping to be able to keep up all the feeding myself until 6 months...but Hasan is a big hungry boy. He hasn't grabbed my food yet though.

I've no more news of dh. Typically he didn't answer my texts yesterday and rang when I was out. Hope to talk to him today.

Mossy · 05/07/2007 08:24

Was going to do big long post after reading everybody elses but no sooner had I finished reading... wail, wail, wail... scream! So will come back later!

Mossy · 05/07/2007 09:14

Sazzy how weird is that with your ex!? Also re: the llamas, my mil went on a walking with llamas holiday somewhere last year in the UK, don't suppose it was your friend's llama farm? There can't be that many of 'em!

Shanks glad the teddy bears picnic went okay! I have one in two weeks' time!

Morocco I'm glad I'm not the only one with an lo under the duvet! Bertie is in 1.0 tog, with a vest on underneath, and is under my duvet too. I doubht he'll have any probs though, given that I am awake almost all night at the moment!

Kiwi I meant to ask you, while you were away for the weekend, did you have to express to keep your supply going? On 11th August my bezzie is getting married, and we were going to stay over for the night. With Bertie having such rubbish nights atm we were debating letting mil babysit overnight, but not sure what this entails re: bfing / supply.

Foxy why are you still arguing with work?

Kitty, I think if you've kept the receipt you can get your money back. Have you looked at the guarantee? You might only be able to exchange them.

Lunar lol at the choccie biccie! I now feel less bad about making my confession. When Bertie really won't settle I have dipped his dummy in fruit smoothie and he loves it... does that count as early weaning? He doesn't have any teeth yet so I don't feel too guilty!

Sponge up until last night I'd have said sleeping bags are fine with changing for me as Bertie doesn't seem to poo at night. As I said, until last night. Four in the morning, explosion. Nappygeddon!

Lily, Bertie feeds all night too. Don't know if he is having a growth spurt or something but he has been really out of sorts the last two days. It better had be a bloody growth spurt, he lost two ounces last week so I'm hoping he's put it back on with interest!!

Hope you get some news from your dh soon.

Right Bertie is quiet now (not sleeping, oh of course not) so I am going to try and have a bath!!

kiwibella · 05/07/2007 10:29

Mossy: yes, I expressed while I was away. I packed the motor and the bottle of my breast pump but not the actual bit that joins the two together... so, so silly! So it was by hand. I didn't realise quite how much she drank though because by the afternoon I was reminded of those first few days of engorgement.

Rosy... I hope you manage to speak to your dh today.

kiwibella · 05/07/2007 10:34

I was planning to feed Kate until 6 months too but it looks like we will begin supplementing. She is really interested in food and sucked on her big sister's banana the other day.

Kate has used a sleeping bag since she grew out of her swaddling wrap. I don't do a night change - of course I would if there was an explosion in the night .

Mossy · 05/07/2007 10:47

Ta Kiwibella! I will remember to pack the entire pump!! Goodness only knows how I'll express enough ebm for a whole 24 hours or more though... think it might be a bit of a mixed feed jobbie myself!!

Piffle · 05/07/2007 10:50

Sazzy tis a small world indeed - my exp and his lovely girlfriend are due a baby at Xmas we're all thrilled and ds1 is going to be a brother twice over this year. WE all get on super well and it's all civilised If it's a boy she is sorted!

As for dp's commute has to be by car as trains would require him to go to Kings X on GNER then back out on Thameslink - time thiefing and taking upwards of 3hrs
So he ash to go by car
we might have to move but am SO not wanting to - dd about to start gorgeous little school, all her SN workers here, ds1 in yr8 at top grammar school - massive house for good price in super village

I just don't think we can find that near or within an hour of Luton for that price with those schools and stuff.
Plus if we do move I'd rather go big and head to NZ.
But anyway

Finn has had yoghurt a few weeks ago courtesy of dd and he has licked her apple as well - seemed thrilled but am holding off til 6 mths - he is 15 wks today and his night feeding is fine he is not at any more hungry than previously so am relaxed and not even thought about it yet...

Need a grobag with side zip as Finn is tummy sleeper and has senstive skin - princess and the pea hates front buttons on anything. Plus he now resides at the very top most corners of the cot... no night changes here either - Finn has never poo'd at night luckily.
Right must go and watch tennis try and spot my mum and brother in the centre court crowd...
She'll be the one using pronfanities and being escourted out no doubt... [oh the shame]

Mossy · 05/07/2007 11:01

Piffle those dreambags have side zips.

Honestly I'm not on commission or anything! But I love my one and I just can't believe how much those proper grobags are!

I hope you don't have to move!!

eidsvold · 05/07/2007 11:38

spongecake I love sleeping bags - have used them for my three. Dd1 had a rel thing about not keeping covers on no matter how tight you tucked them. At 2 1/2 she was still in her sleeping bag.

I bought a 1 - 1.5 tog and a 1 tog for summer and have a 2.5 tog for winter - those ones are all grobags -w e got them for a great price from john lewis. Thankfully I already had them as they are about 70 - 80 dollars here!!

I have also sewed a couple of summer ones for dd1 as she got bigger. They have done well too.

well in and out and laybys done in under an hour at the toy sale - it was all rather civilised - unlike the one I went to at another store last year - some people were ott!! Everyone was helpful - showing each other where things were and things were in logical places. So now have lots of fab pressie ideas done - managed to get 4 people sorted and major pressie for dds sorted. Now have until christmas eve to pay it off and pick it up - FAB!!
