March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

Well, last night Bertie slept in the bed with me, chopping and changing boobs so he could feed while I snoozed. When I finally gave in and got up at five the bed was soaked in posset. Nice! I think I'm going to put my plastic sheet back on while he's sleeping with me!

Sazzy, can you email me your address so I can send the CDs? I'm at msrlmoss @ hotmail . com (take out the spaces). Sorry it took me so long! Glad you have found a good nursery, must be a weight off your mind!

Callie I have Bertie in the main bath with me, I have dh pass him to me and take him off me. He hates his baby bath and only likes washing if I'm in the bath with him.

Eids that bath insert looks like a good idea, then I could bath him on my own in the big bath. Hope you have a lovely girly day!

Kitty can't believe how huge Ronnie is! Am slightly you must have full fat milk whereas I have skimmed! Still, I suppose on the flip side I don't have to fork out much on clothes as Bertie's still in 0-3 quite comfortably.

Morocco glad you are feeling a bit calmer today.

Diva sorry to be so ignorant but what are grommets and what is glue ear?

Lily - pmsl at greeting the JW's with your boob hanging out. Might try that next time I get doorknocked!

Blonde sorry to hear about screamy baby.

Right, Bertie has been napping for fifteen minutes... if he carries on I might even get to wash the sheets!! Fingers crossed!

LunarSea · 28/06/2007 08:01

Mossie - Toby's only just going into 3-6 too - and that's only in tops and dungarees because a lot of the 3-6 trousers are too loose for him. He's obviously going to have the long, lean, athletic build ds1 has rather than taking after me!

sazzybee · 28/06/2007 09:12

Ah yes - the posset-soaked sheets. What a joy they are

Oops sorry mossy - how rude of me Will send it right now.

Thanks for the positive words about the nursery. Eids - people said to me 'you will just know' but I just didn't think I would after the first two, I think largely because I know people who send their children to them and adore them so I just thought I was being ridiculously demanding. I didn't hate them, I was more indifferent. The thing that's different about the one I liked was that I was shown round by the woman who actually runs the baby unit, rather than the head of the nursery and she couldn't wait to grab Elliot off me and have a cuddle which is always a good way to charm parents! There was just a vibe there that made it seem more like a home than a nursery if that makes sense.

Yes diva - please explain grommets and glue ear as I don't know what they are either but they don't sound very nice. Poor you with all your ill DCs. (((diva)))

sazzybee · 28/06/2007 09:16

Ooh yes - can I ask - I bought a grobag off someone on here and they haven't sent it despite emails asking where it is. Is there anything I can do or is it just bad luck that I picked a vendor who isn't legit?

kittywits · 28/06/2007 09:48

Callie, I've used one of those baby bathing chair things that Eids showed. I've used it for all the babies since birth, makes life alot easier.

Sazzy, glad you've found a nursery you're happy with. It must be a real relief.

Diva, I'm not entirely sure what this Steiner thing is supposed to be about. As far as I can tell it involves singing lots of songs I've never heard of, holding complete strangers' hands (not happy with that), only playing with wooden toys. I've commited to three more weeks but don't think I'll be going back in September

Mossy, I don't know about full fat millk, Ronnie is a skinny snake!! but bizarely for my family he has very long legs and arms, so he is in these huge clothes that swamp him in the body but fit his limbs. I've not had a baby his shape before!
I'm going to post your sling this morning

Hello to everyone else, sorry of I've missed news, life is v. tiring atm.

TheBlonde · 28/06/2007 11:17

Sazzy - I think people usually name and shame on the buy/sell topic
Was it a regular poster?

TransfiguratingLily · 28/06/2007 11:17

We have a camphill community and rudolph steiner school here. My friend sent her daughter to it. It was very alternative. It's actually a churchy thing. My sisters bil is a priest/minister person with them and lives in community in South Africa. They are really into environmentally friendly lifestyle etc.

Hasan likes to kick and push against the baby bath. He loves it when I put him in with the other two beasties.

My sister had grommets and terrible ear infections as a child. Her drum was forever bursting. It happened to me once and is pure agony. So grommets stop that happening. My sisters hearing is damaged.

TransfiguratingLily · 28/06/2007 11:18

Sazzy you could maybe resurrect the thread and ask her on that?

muppethasakitten · 28/06/2007 12:09

I had glue ear as a kid and had grommets twice over b4 my hearing improved... hugs to you diva... not nice...

hugs to morocco too .... those support threads can be a bit of a lifeline at times but devastating at other times.

Off to get Sam's hips scanned so we can finally be signed off... am sure they're fine...

mossy - you're sounding so much more like your old self. No long gaps between feeds for me either! Sam still in bed with me... he suckles all night long like a little sucky fish

divastrop · 28/06/2007 12:19

mossy/sazzy-glue ear is when repeated ear infections cause a build up of mucous behind the ear drum, which stops it from vibrating and causes hearing loss.grommets are little plasic things they put in the ear drum under general anesthetic which allow the gunge to drain out(from what i can gather).so basically ds2 hasnt been able to hear properly for the last 2 years

dd1 now has a chest infection.im getting quite close to the edge of sanity now and its only going to take one more thing to push me over

foxcub · 28/06/2007 12:55

diva sorry to hear about dd1's chest infection

ds1 had glue ear and his ear drum burst - at first i was against surgery but after 18 months of repeated infections we were begging for it!

the grommets were fantastic...he hardly gets infections now. We also had adenoids and tonsils out at the same time

oops monti crying

if it will cure it I'd get it done, or he may end up with scarring from all the infections, which would damage his hearing long term

  • oops must go
kittywits · 28/06/2007 14:08

Mossy/ Foxy I see in the radio times that you can buy life size cut outs of David Tennant

Diva {{{hugs}}} to you

divastrop · 28/06/2007 14:20

fox-he is going to have his adenoids out as well.

i wish there was a button to click so as to not include 'relationships' in active convos.for some reason my seemingly unfashionable views are not welcome on this site

i finally got around to sorting dd2's old clothes out for Elsie.i was meant to do upsatairs housework but i couldnt be bothered,it took ages to sort all the stuff out with dd2 'helping' meshes soooo sweet.shes dancing to 'the darkness' atm.

divastrop · 28/06/2007 14:21

they should sell life-size cut outs of cybermen,i could scare the kids with them

saying that,i could probably scare them with DT ones

kittywits · 28/06/2007 14:42

Diva, dd3's also a great one for dancing. Totally wonderful to watch. What are your unfashionable views on realationships then? I saw that you and your dp had been having a ruck on a thread about chilren with earings. God there are some poncy people on mn aren't there. So blooming pc and self righteous.

divastrop · 28/06/2007 14:59

it was a thread about a snog being cheating.have just asked for my last post to be deleted cos i cant be arsed anymore.

i was debating the earring thing but read out a post and dp heard me and decided to go on cos he was bored...he got accused of being racist though, which he totally isnt,he just doesnt understand MN etiquette and how best to put forward your views without offending people.something i learnt from you kitty lol.

must stick to funny threads, must stick to funny threads.....

s'pose i better go and pick the monsters up.

divastrop · 28/06/2007 16:19

they didnt delete it,and the thread is in 'discussions of the day' and was also in hot threads on the MN email

think ill get slightly drunk tonight.although i do appear to have killed it now

kittywits · 28/06/2007 16:24

Diva, what's this discussions of the day and mn email?

divastrop · 28/06/2007 17:02

discussions of the day is on the homepage, and i get a 'MN parenting news' email every week that i assume i subscribed to when i registered?

kittywits · 28/06/2007 17:51

oh

kittywits · 28/06/2007 17:51

I'm discussing the use of reins for toddlers atm if you fancy a look!

divastrop · 28/06/2007 20:37

could be interesting...never worked with ds2,i think a harness and whip would have been more appropriate

TransfiguratingLily · 28/06/2007 22:33

Muppet, lol at Sam sucking all night like a little sucky fish, I've got one of those too at the moment!

Diva, I read the ear piercing thread and thought you guys were funny. If my dh came on here, there would be even more trouble! He's always being politically incorrect and he loves winding people up...(he loves the gerry springer show!)
I would just have to pretend I didn't know him

kiwibella · 28/06/2007 22:45

ditto, Rosy... I've got one of those too . And, he's always right .

I keep checking in to see how you are all doing. It's lovely to ready your updates about how your babies are developing. Kate is cruisy and growing and changing so fast!!

Has anyone thought about purchasing or is anyone using a high chair yet? I had a look at them in boots today but figured I should do some research before impulsively buying the pretty coloured one .

TransfiguratingLily · 28/06/2007 22:52

Hi Kiwi Oh yes, I'll need a high chair too. I want a neat one because my kitchen/diner isn't big.
