March 2007 - can't keep up

Hi all -miss a few days due to nightmare things happening at home and I can't keep up now - so started a new thread. Perhaps thought we could remind each other when babes were born - I have lost track at who is the oldest etc.

Been busy here. Prac nanny is okay but hard work - feel like I can't totally relax in my own home etc. She is not sure how to deal with /take dd1 - making it hard. Dd1 had major meltdown after swimming the other day and then at hospital appt, then nanny took eyes from her for a second and she is finally found out on the footpath beside a major road and a sensible and lovely man brought her back. Unlike hospital volunteer who managed to stop dd1 taking a lift anywhere but when she could not get dd1 to hold her hand - she just left her It is clear the minute you speak to dd1 she has special needs FGS. poor nanny student was beside herself.

Saturday dh was gone all day on training exercise and dds only wanted daddy - long day. I managed to get out to a trivia night - MY TEAM WON - i found the questions very easy and answered most of them ( not bragging- just surprised my brain still functioned) I took dd3 - she would not go to sleep - come 11pm still wide awake and beyond over tired... got her home - to see dd2 in bed with dh cause she had an explosive puke that covered everything in her room. She was still up at 1am puking and I had dd3 still crying as she was exhausted.

so long rant - long few days - I am wrecked!!

dd3 - 12 weeks old.

school holidays and a very very wet rainy day - too rainy to get out and do anything - especially on my own with the three of them. Have a couple of things lined up for a couple of days.

Must check out ABC website for things to do at home.

Not complaining about the rain though we really need it.

foxy - i often put dd3 down for a sleep as she has dozed off and I go in to check her and she is wide awake smiling at me - cheeky.

Finally got dd3 her first set of vaccs last night. She is growing well - has a big head ( family trait unfortunately) but she is my average baby

Eidsvold, ever since I was roasted by the heat of Pakistan, I have appreciated the rain and I love Irish weather...rain, rain, rain-love it!
Indoor fun -Drawing, painting, play dough oh and indoor tents (sheet, couple of chairs) then the children can have a picnic in the tent.

Foxy, I'm the burly man I do all that kind of stuff...putting up shelves, cutting the grass, wallpapering and painting. I am a bit slap dash though. Must try and be carefull more.

eidsvold · 26/06/2007 05:52

i don't mind the rain and am thankful I don't have to do school and kindy run as well as therapy, swimming etc with the three of them in the rain and over soggy ground.

BUT they are so desperate to go to the park - unfortunately only dd1 has a rain coat, neither have wellies - am tempted to buy each of them a pair and get dd2 a rain coat just so we can go out when it is just soft rain!

I love the rain - but I am so tired at the moment - dd1 did not sleep well last night and dh still has a touch of stomach upset, dd3 upset from vaccs - all I want to do is cuddle under the blankets and read a book or watch tv on our new telly in the bedroom!!

BUT i have had a good day - managed to talk dh into letting me get a clothes dryer - even though he thinks I will use it one week a year. We just do not have the space to have stuff hanging up under the house in the playroom etc to dry. Unfortunately - not able to get it until early next week - so all my soggy washing will just have to stay on the line until it fines up- which is supposed to be about when I get the dryer!! I will use it anyway as I will have so much washing to get sorted and we will have run out of clothes by then.

sad sad sad - I am excited about getting a clothes dryer - what has my life come to

I am also in the throes of toilet training of sorts dd1 - long involved process and i am feeling stressed that I am not getting it done as well as it should be. the bonus is that perhaps dd2 might be trained by the end of the holidays and I can focus on dd1 and the long drawn out process that it will be.

okay rave over.....

Morning all,

Diva poor you with all the assorted colds and ailments. Elsie sounds like she is feeding a bit better though? I really hope so it's the last thing you need right now for her to get ill.

Eids a clothes dryer is exciting! I line dry my clothes when it's sunny but I put them in the dryer for five mins to make them nice and fluffy, it's especially great for cloth nappies.

Potty training... oh, it's like looking into the future coming on here! I dread the thought of that!

Hey I get my maternity paycheque today... I'm going to buy a really posh baby sling with it!!

TransfiguratingLily · 26/06/2007 07:51

Well now I'm feeling bad about all the rain because I see on the news that 3 people have died with the flooding .

Eidsvold cute bargain wellies

Mossy · 26/06/2007 07:54

Oh crikey that's awful. I didn't realise it had been flooding, it's just been a bit showery here.

Piffle · 26/06/2007 13:42

horrendous flooding near us in Sth Lincs our fish needed rescuing as the pond came up to mee the grass yesterday. also PIL are in Whiston Rotherham and have been evacuated as the Ulley Dam might burst if ther ehome is totalled I wonder where they'd stay for months
I love them tis ok really
Finn feeding every 3.5 hrs even at night so think he is growing - he had been going 5-9 hrs but he simply feeds quickly (10 mins) and resettles instantly infact I go so far as to venture he does not actually wake IYKWIM
He is also very sleepy. And very cute. And very giggly. And very dribbly. And very showing things into his mouth.

Mossy which sling are you after?

divastrop · 26/06/2007 14:07

its bright sunshine here.we always have different weather from everybody else

eids/mossy-i havent hung washing out on the line since july 2005 when my washing machine died and i had to hand-wash everything.in fact i dont even have a washing line now.

my nan's funeral is next tuesday,so im going down on the monday and returning on the wednesday.im not looking forward to leaving my other 2 babies.at least i will have a chance to relax, though, train journeys are one of the few times i can sit on my a**e for a couple of hours without feeling guilty.

i shall have to purchase an mp3 player.

Elsie is feeding ok today(touch wood).she went to bed at 8.30 pm and woke at 2.30 and then 6 am.

fox-i felt guilty one day last week when i'd put Elsie in her pushchair, and dd2 was asleep in her travel cot.i assumed Elsie was asleep and snuck off upstairs with dp.when i came down 10 mins later she was sitting there wide awake just smiling.bless her.

LunarSea · 26/06/2007 14:33

Piffle - Finn sounds like he must be Toby's lost twin, right down to the 10 minute feeds and instant resttling.

He's turning into a proper little person rather than just a baby so quickly now - and now he can roll both ways he's started linking them together and not staying where he's put any more. And I'm a bit annoyed that only 8 days after I bought him a bumbo seat he's started being able to get himself from reclining in his inflatable ring thingy to sitting up in it, so it looks like I could have saved myself some money if I'd been a tiny bit more patient.

Am wondering now why I bothered to keep all ds1's clothes - have just sorted out all his 3-6 month stuff to see what Toby could use, and the answer is hardly any of it. ds1 was a September baby, so the seasons are totally opposite. Now need to decide what to do with it - take pics of it now and set it up to list on Ebay in the Autumn (won't have time then as I'll be back at work), do a car boot sale, or just donate it to a charity shop - that's if I can find one which does children's clothing, as most around here don't.

Sorry I've not been posting much lately because it somehow seems wrong to come on and say everyting's hunky-dory when so many of the others are having problems of one sort or another.

TransfiguratingLily · 26/06/2007 16:00

Lunar it's good to be hunky dory! It is encouraging I think.

Hasan is easy at night too, feeds quickly and doesn't really wake up. He seems to be feeding more at the moment, getting bigger and hungrier. If I remember rightly it gets quite hard work from here to weaning time- feeding a big hungry boy.

Ds2 keeps waking though, so I'm tired today, didn't go to bed early enough. Ds1 finished school yesterday and dd finishes nursery on friday. So holiday time for us, yay!

Mossy · 26/06/2007 16:05

of those of you with easy settling babies! Bertie still takes forever to feed at night and even longer to settle! Still, I have got much better at feeding lying down, so at least I can have a snooze while he feeds.

Piffle I am getting a slingeasy, I think. They look pretty good and you can bf in them so it says, too. Why, which one would you recommend?

Diva - five dc's and no washing machine you poor thing you must be knackered with all that hand washing!

Just been to baby signing; Bertie loves watching the other babies and I can't believe how young some of them are that are already signing! There is one there who is only five months!!

TransfiguratingLily · 26/06/2007 16:11

Mossy, Wow, Bertie will start learning to sign! So then you can boast about him, 'he doesn't sleep through, but he can talk to me!'

ds2 has got pants on...eek scarey.

Mossy · 26/06/2007 16:16

Lol, yes I can say, no, he doesn't sleep through, no, he isn't putting on a pound a week, no, he isn't "cooing" yet, but he can tell me if he is hungry without crying so there!

That's if he picks it up... he's still a bit young just yet!

shanks313 · 26/06/2007 16:24

Hi everyone,

Havent really got time to check up on posts but hope everyone is okay

I havent had so much access to the net this week as our laptop died on us so I have had to wait for my mum to let me on hers.We bought a new pc on Friday only to find out that our modem isnt compatible with Visa so had to wait for a new modem and disc to arrive.
Then my ipod busted too so I lost all my music on there too

Well Deannas okay, she started waking at 5am instead of 6.30 but once we put up a black out blind, shes now hone back to 6.30.
We think shes teething as shes forever got something in her mouth and now shes crying alot for no reason we can see..and the red cheks.Luckily teethin gel seems to calm her down a little.
She only seems to hae it when Im alone with her hmmm lol.

I have decided Im going to the mum and baby group on Thursday,Im not going to let them stop us going.I want Deanna to see other babies and thats what we will do.I have also enquired about othr groups in the area.We still go to music with mummy too which Deanna loves.
Well better get Deanna ready,MIL has offered to look after her while I pick up DH from work and go and collect the new modem.

TransfiguratingLily · 26/06/2007 16:29

Anyway Mossy, lucky he isn't putting on a pound a week, then he'd be too heavy for your nice new baby carrier
My ds2 is little, he's wearing the same size nappies as Hasan and he's 2.6 and yesterday he had Hasan's fleece on. (looked ridiculous though)

TransfiguratingLily · 26/06/2007 16:32

Hi shanks

kittywits · 26/06/2007 16:43

Mossy, I've got 2 versions of those slings. I'll quite happily send them to you if you'd like. I can't get on with them at all. I love my tricotti and myergo

Piffle · 26/06/2007 17:16

Mossy I love my Coorie fleece sling oh it is fab I feed Finn in it if I need to. instant sleep.

Lunar cannot remember how much older Toby is than Finn but Finn is also able to sit upright and infact detests lying down unless he is asleep which fortunately he likes to be a lot I am contemplating a bumbo - they are useful for ages though as they keep them still

Piffle · 26/06/2007 17:20

no Finn is older than Toby I think???
22/3 and Toby was 4/4?

foxcub · 26/06/2007 17:43

Hi everyone - just dipping in

read your posts but no time to reply - see you later [waves]

gotta collects DS1 from his mate's house....[trots off]

foxcub · 26/06/2007 20:13

Monti's lying on the bed, watching Holby Blue!

divastrop · 26/06/2007 20:27

mossy-i only had 3 dc when my washing machine died,dd2 was in my tummy and dd3 was a distant fantasy

rosy-Elsie is only in one size smaller nappies than dd2,but dd2 is quite petite and Elsie looks to be turing out like the others(ie big).

lunar-its nice to hear everythings great, although i dont envy you having a rolling over baby already

shanks-you are right not to let the other woman at the baby group put you off,and you never know, they might be shy and were just sussing you out before they said hello

morocco · 26/06/2007 20:56

hope the baby group goes better shanks, it's taken ages for me to settle in at mine but now I know loads of people to chat to at least. a lot of people are just shy I think, if you make the first move and keep on saying hi, you'll get there!

can't believe some babies are sitting up already!! and rolling around. em is starting to roll a bit and can squirm around a bit, but not in her moses basket cos there's no room poor love. I've bought some posh eco paint to repaint the cot with so once that's done and we've ordered a mattress then gone on holiday, ooh about another 6 weeks time then, she can finally stretch out in comfort in her cot.

Piffle · 26/06/2007 20:58

Also serious weight bearing here. If you hold Finn in your lap he just forces himself to standing and will stay there for ages - he is bloody strong and if he is on the floor he will literally try and walk to something I'm worried about his hips and stuff but cannot stop him
I'm scared

morocco · 26/06/2007 22:17

do you mind if I just offload something on to this thread? feel free to ignore, just need to get it off my chest

having a stressed moment
I'm on an email support group for parents of children with ds1's kidney condition and last week one of the children died. it's the first time it's happened since I started posting a year ago and I'm really upset about it, most selfishly of course because no matter how unusual is is, it reminds you it can happen . dh doesn't like me posting on this group anyhow and I know he's be more upset if I told him what had happen, can't tell family for same reason. but need to share with someone, hope you don't mind. also upset cos ds1 has a chest infection. he's been coughing a lot recently and today complained of sore back so I thought I'd best pop in to gps and sure enough, it's just starting luckily so with antibiotics should be ok. he's had pneumonia twice in the past so now i'm a bit nervous. am hoping today's antibiotics have helped. made worse as I couldn't go to the school info morning and phoned to let them know and why but secretary was sooooo snotty when I popped in later on to see if I could pick up some info etc. am stressing now about ds starting school and what if they don't look after him properly
sorry - am obviously having a stressy day, hope you don't mind me telling yo all about it
