Shimmer - believe me what LAL said is true Elli is covered in bruises etc some self inflicted, some 'falling out' with her best friend (they seem to have a weird fascination of hurting each other and making uo and some I have no idea where they come from.

Wilkie love those code sites always find next free delivery and elc codes on them

UD Sorry the pushchair has gone now as friend has found out she is very unexpectdily (sp) pregnant and asked if she could buy it so sorry I'd be happy to make a contribution towards one on ebay if you do anyhting like that, or may have some clothes etc (not sure if Janipher has boys or girls but would send a voucher if needed)

Had okay weekend Ellies best friends birthday party today which went quite well they all had a go at blowing the candles out and sang happy birthday about 5 times, doing boot fair tomorrow so will update you on amounts tomorrow night. Am heading to bed as need to leave at 6.45 to get a good pitch

Wilkie · 09/06/2007 21:30

Is £80 excessive for a high chair? I like this one here but it seems expensive. We checked it out in Mothercare and it was loads better than the other ones.

ellieandhattie · 09/06/2007 21:36

£80 not excessive imo and if you are planning more children definaltey worth getting one that will last, think ours was about £70ish and got loads and loads of life left in it

theUrbanDryad · 09/06/2007 22:09

we're such cheapskates...we're getting an £11.99 one from Ikea!

Wilkie · 10/06/2007 08:40

Not cheapskate at all UD. The prob I have found with most of them is that they don't support LO enough and he slips down. The one I linked to has a really well padded seat and reclines so I can sit him up better than in his bouncy chair. It just scares me to spend that much on a highchair but like EAH said, we are planning on 2/3 children so it will last for all of them.

And anyway UD, you never MSN me anymore I think you don't love me anymore

It also has an adjustable footrest so it can grown with him.

It's just a lot to lay out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone OK. Change of plans here - my sis and her DT are coming for the day so I am really excited. They've only been here once before

We are going to a farm nearby to look at the animals. The girls will love it but now sure if J will be that botheres Then again, he loves watching the cat so who knows.

Hope everyone else has good days. xxxxx

mandapanda27 · 10/06/2007 10:10

£80 for a highchair is good! With DS2 I spent £120 on a mamas and papas one. It is fantastic though , and is currently being used for DS3.

theUrbanDryad · 10/06/2007 10:26

well dh wants me to buy it online, but i want to try Z on it first. it does look a bit flimsy, but we got his cot from Ikea, and it's fabbo, so we'll have to see! the other one i like is this one but it's a lot more expensive...

Wilks - you never MSN me either. i think you've hated me ever since we spoke on the phone (i sound common!))

laughalot · 10/06/2007 14:36

Hi everyone well we went out for a curry last night and it was one of those resturants where you take your own booze oops I was slightly tipsy and felt like crap when I woke up.

Wilks I got my highchair from toys r us I dident have a expensive one but they do alot of different ones in there cheaper and more expensive ones. Thanks for posting the link with the offer codes my dh will be taking my credit card off me.

Right must dash loz needs her rusk.

2Happy · 10/06/2007 19:17

Shimmer - poor you, but dp can't blame you it was an accident! I just know I'll be at A&E soon enough with one of the boys!
Smallone - YANBU!!! Definitely out of order, no periods one of the best bits of bfeeding!
RGee - shame on dh, breaking the computer!
Wilkie - hope the farm was good

Hope everyone had good weekends. We had fun at the parents, though my ds1 and dsis's dd ran riot! It's ds1's birthday tomorrow, so more noise and fun! He's got a cold though so will probably end up overexcited, overtired and tantrum the day away...ah well, at least we can trot the story of how bad he was on his 2nd birthday out to embarass him when he's older hee hee.

Jodie - hope your DD's operation went well and your DS is feeling better.

2happy - DS was fine after his jabs, didn't sleep particularly well after though. Sorry to hear about your DS' godmother .

Rgee - i am a bit of a night owl, but that was a bit past my standard bedtime. DH was out on a work do and I was waiting for him to come in before I went to bed.

Shimmer - You must have got a real fright dropping Freddie like that. Los can be so slippy when they come out of the bath. Accidents happen though so don't be too hard on yourself.

Am feeling a bit down because I'm thinking of giving up bfing . Ds's feeding does seem to have improved a bit after the cranial osteopath, but he seems to have got into the habit of snacking. i can only seem to get him to feed for 10 mins at a time unless he is really sleepy. He just gets distracted so easily so I have to feed him in a quiet room, which is difficult if i need to go out.

I do enjoy the bfing most of the time, but have been findign it a real chore lately. Don't know if anyone has any advice they could give me?

laughalot · 11/06/2007 08:47

Morning where has the sunshine gone . Well I suppose its not a bad thing as my house looks like a bomb has hit it, having a toddler and keeping the house clean is impossible I tidy it up and then within seconds its like a tip again.

Had a good night loz slept well and aid was pretty good to so I feel very refreshed today. Its a bit quiet where are you lot ?

JodieG1 · 11/06/2007 08:47

Just to let you all know it went really well and we were home a couple of hours later. She hasn't been in pain as we've kept her dosed up as they told us too. She was really brave She was sick last night but I think that's from the bug that ds1 had as ds2 is also ill as well now. It's been a hard couple of days as ds2 was up until 11pm last night and was up for over an hour in the night and also fed 5 times before 5.30am. I'm exhausted. Dd is ok this morning but ds2 still has a temp, about 101/102. Must dash.

theUrbanDryad · 11/06/2007 08:56

Jodie - glad to hear dd is doing well now. she must have been so brave! hope the op has sorted everything out now.

Trixy - no advice really, but be assured i'm going through exactly the same thing! Z is so hard to feed when we're out now as he pulls off if the slightest thing happens taking about an inch of nipple with him (sorry, graphic!) and usually spraying nearby onlookers! i think it's just a phase they go through at this age, so bear with it if you can. we're going to start weaning soonish - though i am going to wait till he's 6mo, i think - so that'll be more fun! i think if they're really hungry they'll eat properly, and also i think their milk intake might drop a little at this stage. just feed on demand, and bear in mind that your lo wouldn't be any less distractable from a bottle!!

JodieG1 · 11/06/2007 09:09

Wilkie - I'm hoping to get Ethan christened soon. Dd was about 18 months when she was christened and ds1 was 10 months.
I wanted to get Ethan done a bit earlier than that so I'll have to get on with it.
We got rid of all our baby stuff after ds1 as dh didn't want anymore but then Ethan came along

Shimmer - You must have felt awful Freddie will be fine, we all make mistakes don't feel too guilty.

MrsCarrot - I could make London. Where's the birthday meet going to be?

Smallone - I'd be a bit annoyed too, I'm bf all the time as well but no AF yet, I have felt like it's coming for about
2 months now though.

Rgee - at least your internet is up and running again now. We got a highchair from mothercare, a wipeclean one cost about £45 I think
an Ethan has been using it for a couple of weeks, he sits up really well. It doesn't recline though as I'm not keen on those ones.

lal - sounds like you had a great time.

2happy - hope ds1's birthday goes well today, happy birthday to him

Trixy - my ds2 is the same with feeding, he feeds loads and likes to snack. The way I look at it is that breast milk is their food and
water and it's rare that I go more than a couple of hours without a drink so it makes me feel better about it. I've been having the
distraction problem and posted on bf about it. Some people said they had it around this age too, I bought a breastfeeding necklace from ebay
with little animals on which helps a bit as he's more focused on that when I'm feeding him instead of everything behind him. He seems a lot better
since I posted that thread too.

Had a few more minutes so managed to read through and reply.

laughalot · 11/06/2007 09:17

Jodie glad your dd is ok after the op, hope all the kids get over there bug soon.

Right I need help in selling some of my stuff however I have never done it before, what is the best way to go about it say I was to advertise my pushchair for sale on mnet ? Its things like the payment issue or how much it will be to send.

ellieandhattie · 11/06/2007 09:54

Just a quick one as have 101 things to do

LAL I'll be back later to help re selling

Jodie glad dd1 ok hope ds's better soon

2happy happy birthdy to ds1

I made £140 at boot fair yesterday so with the other baby bits I sold before made £200 so far, still got 3 boxes of clothes to photo and sell as bundles and moses basket, swinging crib, travel system and nursery bedding to sell so hopefully approx another £200 to come and hattie decided she now holds the bottle at feed times aaawww shes growing up to fast.

Catch up properly later

theUrbanDryad · 11/06/2007 10:33

EAH - Zac holds his cup too now. it's so cute, but i don't want him to grow up so fast either!!

Shimmer · 11/06/2007 11:13

Morning all. Thanks for all the messages of sympathy after the dropping freddie in the bath incident. I did feel horrible about it, but luckily it doesn't seem to have effected the little man too much and he's been fine in the bath since Phew!

Not much going on here. I was feeling a bit down yesterday as I suddenly realised that I had nothing to do! I mean, every since F was born there's been people visting and then we were in HK and then when we were back my bfriend was in london so we hung out loads, then i was my brothers birthday and then mine. And now.... nothing.... there's basically nothing in the calender til September when we go on holiday But anyway, i'm determined to be positive as there's actually loads of stuff i can do to occupy me and freddie. Started Buggyfit (basically run/walk round hyde park with lots of mums and buggies!)last week which was fun and have been looking at maybe doing some swimming lessons. Have any of you done swimming lessons? Some of the classes look a bit hardcore... i'm not at all convinced about dunking F under the water (specially after the bath trauma!) I know they say LOs are born with that reflex not to breathe underwater, but do they still have it at 5 months??

Glad your DD is on the mend Jodie.Shame about the bug right after the operation

oh damnit freddie's just pooed on me.....
back later

LAL The easiest way to recieve payments is 'paypal' set up an account and then verify yourself (you need premier account to accept more than 2 payments a year) they charge a small fee to receive money (think its about 1.5-2%)so bear in mind when youa re selling may be worth adding a little more to your asking price/post to cover charge and you send money free.

The money can either sit in oyur paypal account and you can pay for things on ebay/here or you can transfer it to your bank account (takes about 5-7 days) If I am selling lots of small things I tend to wait till I have a decent amount ie £50 in my paypal account then trf to my bank account. Alternativley you can ask people to pay by cheque but they'll need to post it, you bank it wait for it to clear etc.

Re postage Royal Mail website gives you a guie to weight/size of items and what'll they cost to post (I picked up a leaflet in post office as its easier to look at) I tend to stick on an extra £1 for the envelope etc and always ask for proof of ptage at POST OFFICE as this covers to a certain amount I tend to send most things on 'signed for' delivery (the orange label) its an additional 60p but is tracked and covers you up to £32 if the item is more than that may be worth using parcelforce (can do through post office, my electric swing was 8kg and it cost me £12 for postage through parcelforce) or courier company (I have read about payperdrop think its £5.99 a delivery but if you 'search' payperdrop on Mumsnet then you'll get loads of links)

Re packaging I tend to look out in pound shop as they'll often have 5 jiffy bags for £1 or roll of brown paper etc, Clothes I tend to put in carrier bag then wrap in brown paper, bigger items I box up (get boxes from supermarket) and wrap in brown paper. Things like pushchairs can be difficult I suppose very strong Bin liners then brown paper although not sure as havent sold any pushchairs that have had to be posted. One thing i always do now is keep boxes that stuff comes in I have just sold the electric swing and I had folded down the box and put it in the loft so I had the right size box all I had to do was 'brown tape' the top and bottom and stick a4 paper with address on.

Its wasy to sell on MN just go to 'for sale' part start new thread and ut'll come up with an option to put a picture on after you have listed the item

Hope all that helps

ellieandhattie · 11/06/2007 15:11

oh and dont forget if the ask at post office how much the item needs to be insured for you double what you sold it for so that if it gets lost you can claim the money back for the person buying it and money back for you as you would have lost the item and cannot resell it therefore lost the money it was worth and need to refund the buyer, hope that makes sense

trixymalixy · 11/06/2007 15:29

Shimmer - i am starting baby swimming classes in august. Would have done it earlier but there was a massive waiting list

i am a bit nervous about him going under the water, but I'm sure the instructors know what they're doing.

Jodie - glad the op went well!

UD/Jodie - Feeling a bit more positive about bfing this morning. I seem to go through phases where i get really fed up with it, but have renewed energy for it the next day. It really helps to post on here about it i find.

EAH - that's fab that you made so much money at the car boot sale!

smallone · 11/06/2007 15:41

I haven't got round to swimming yet either - although mostly because I daren't even try my swimming costume on!

Trixy- dd usually feeds every 2hrs but seems like she's on there all the time at the mo. She's also easily distracted so I have to keep talking etc to a minimum. I think it may also have something to do with the weather - either I'm making her too hot so she doesn't want to stay on for long or shes hot so she's thirsty more often. I think we just have to ride the storm, knowing that we're doing our best for them by bfing as long as we can.

I'll also add that my BF's 5mo has just gone onto formula and still has the same prob, only aswell as constant on-off the bottle she has to spend all the time between feeds sterilising and making up bottles!

Wilkie · 11/06/2007 16:02

Hello girls

EAH - you are so organised it is untrue. LAL, haven't anything to add to her detailed description although I will say a PayPal account is so handy nowadays. I sold my wedding dress on MN and the girl did a bank transfer to my account which was easy and didn't incur any PayPal fees (which can ben quite steep on more expensive items) so that's another method.

Jodie - so glad the op went well. Let's just hope they all get better soon so you can enjoy the relief that the op is over!

UD/EAH - JJ holds his cup too. I got the doidy cup so he is alternating between that and sort of sucking from his Tommee Tippee cup.

Swimming: have taken J, not to classes but for a swim and yes, I dunked him. I told him what I was going to do and then gently bounced him up and down whilst counting....1, 2 and on 3 I just dunked him gently under so his whole head went under and straight back up. He looked a bit bewildered but not too fussed. He is a real water baby though and yes, they do still have the holding breath reflex at 5 months (can't remember who asked).

The sun is shining here, it i 25C - absolutely fabulous. J and I have been out shopping and then to Asda. I got chatting to this lovely girl in Asda who was admiring J and told me she had a 9 month old. We got interrupted when we got to the checkouts and she finished before me so said bye. Is it sad that I was tempted to see if she fancied coming over for a coffee one day with her LO?? I just get a bit bored cos all of my mates apart from my BF work and have no family in Lincoln. She might have thought I was a right freak though....

Had a lovely ay with my sis and the DTs. We went to the farm and they absolutely loved it although J was cranky cos he only had 40 mins sleep all day yesterday! The girls just shrieked at all the animals although the most excitement was over a small water fountain in the pond

C, the slightly younger twin, is SO clever. If you give her a book of animals and call out different animals she finds it and points to it. Is it me or is that quite advanced for a 15 month old???? A, the other twin, is just like a bull in a china shop. They are fabulous.

Going to the Health Spa tomorrow - I cannot wait!

Wilkie · 11/06/2007 16:03

Trixy - I know I am FF but J is a nightmare on the bottle. If we have company I have to excuse myself and feed him somewhere quiet but even then he squirms around whilst simultaneously sucking then crying if the teat comes out his mouth. Nightmare!!!
