Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Wilkie · 13/06/2007 20:54

X-Post earlier MrsC. I told you they were in cahoots

Bless them. I feel awful for not guessing earlier.

theUrbanDryad · 13/06/2007 22:14

your poor little man Wilkie you are a great mummy though, he will start to feel better soon.

i'm up for a meet up, will put that date on my calendar, i'm quite excited about meeting you all!

on a slightly different note, if anyone could offer any help or suggestions here i would be most grateful. ta.

vinorouge · 14/06/2007 04:33

I've been awake since Ellen woke for a feed at 2.17. I hope this is a one off and not the start of me being unable to sleep.

I could also do similar times 11-3ish so that means Rgee could too....

Rgee - we could get a train at 7.26am (so both DH's could drop us at the station) and come back on 15.10 train same as Wilkie or 15.35 train, back in Leeds at 17.36 or 17.56 for £35.90 total. We would arrive in London at 10.48. Text me if you want to/can/can't go and I'll book me/us some tickets today.

So at the moment we have - Vino, Wilkie, EandH, MrsC, UD and hopefully Shimmer so she can meet us all!

Wilkie - hope J is ok

RGee · 14/06/2007 08:40

Quick post - just on way out to York (in ouring rain). Can't make date as it's my first week back at work.

Mrscarrot · 14/06/2007 08:57

and hattie2?

hope J is better, wilkie, F seems ok this morning

Off to get some toast

smallone · 14/06/2007 09:34

Morning all! sorry to hear about the poorly ears! Hope the anti-biotics kick in asap. can't type much as dd is asleep on one arm. up at 5am for usual feed but then woke up at 7am and wouldn't go back to sleep when she normally sleeps til 9am. Had to drag myself out of bed and now I'm wide awake she's flat out again - typical!

smallone · 14/06/2007 09:38

gonna try and put her down coz my legs gone to sleep! - then maybe I can get dressed!

ellieandhattie · 14/06/2007 10:43

Morning

PCF That was very very insensitive of the vicar, makes me so that in the 'pc' world we live in.

Smallone hope you've managed to get dressed now

Well its all quiet in the eandh house, ellie at preschhol (no crying today as they had the water table out which had plastic nemo characters which made one little girl very happy!) been to get Hattie weighed shes (rooting around in bag for the red book) 15.5lb at 23 weeks so smallr than ellie but she looks really chubby in her face (we think shes secretly storing food in her cheeks ) So I have an hour and a bit till pick up time, got to ring council re our council tax as tehy havent set up the direct debit again and think I'll have a bacon sarnie and watch a bit of tv!!

smallone · 14/06/2007 11:09

yes dressed now thanks!

PCF - what does he mean sterile? is this just a temp thing while they do some maintenance? At our cemetary you cant put anything "non-natural" coz it buggers up the mowing equipment. Maybe they can find a way to brighten it up in a way that new vicar is happy with?

I do agree by the way that he was an insensitive arse and maybe its not as bad as you think, he just explained himself badly [hoping!]

hattie2 · 14/06/2007 11:44

Morning all, me for the London meet up as well please (thanks MrsC ) - it was very kind of you to arrange it for the day after my birthday, vino, so you can all sing to me! I may have to bring dd along as well with it being the holidays but she's usually fairly well behaved (fingers crossed, touch wood etc.)

Took LO to the hospital for his appt about his flat head and he has torticollis which is shortening of the neck muscles on one side which causes him to turn to the right all the time. He has to have physio to try and lengthen the muscle and if that doesn't work they can operate but hopefully it won't come to that.

That's really awful about your neice's grave PCF . I hope you can come to some sort of compromise.

UD - just been reading your thread about Janipher. Sounds like you've got the buggy sorted out now but if you need anything else delivering around that area I work near Heathrow 4 days a week so may be able to help.

laughalot · 14/06/2007 20:52

Evening

Well my little boy went to school today for his pre nursey visit it went really well. I stopped with him he was very well behaved and cried when we had to leave .

Wilkie I hope j is better and mrs c hope lo is better too.

Cant make the meetup im at work im afraid.

Wilkie · 14/06/2007 21:48

Hello all.

Little man is a bit better today. Much more perky but has watery green/yellow explosive poo and can't keep anything down (I think the antibiotics are upsetting his tum) but temp is down and dr said his eardrum wasn't so scarlet today.

It's been quiet on here today.

about your LO Hattie, let's hope the physio can sort it out.

PCF - so and at the vicar. That is just appalling.

Vino - would you be getting the train to Newark and then changing? Just wondered cos I could meet you at the station.

EAH - I assume you would be bringing Hattie?

Not much else to report other than we are going to mums for a massive family gathering this weekend which I am SO looking forward to, just hope little man is better.

BTW, went to Pixifoto today to have some shots done as a fathers day gift and the photos were amazing. The woman was lovely until she realised I wasn't going to buy more than the complimentary one then she got really shitty. Shame cos I was impressed until then.

RGee · 14/06/2007 22:57

Evening all.

Wilkie - glad J is feeling a bit better today (poo aside!). Enjoy the gathering - I hope you get pampered and fussed over!
Carrot - hope your lo is a bit better today too.

Lal - glad the school visit went well.

PCF - dreadful comment from the vicar. Why on earth does the grave have to be 'sterile'? Your poor sister - hope a compromise is reached.
Most exciting about the wedding reception - when's the date?

Hattie - good luck with the physio - when does that start? How is being back at work?

EaH - nom nom bacon butties! Hope you got the council sorted! Awww, your little E is growing up!

Small - hope you get a better lie in tomorrow morning! Hmmm...Herefordshire not ideal for house cleaning..

Vino and fellow meet up folk - To expand on my earlier message. The date for the meet up is my first week back at work so would feel too cheeky taking a day off, particularly as I have the following week off! I can do a fair bit of travelling with my job if I want so you never know, I may just turn up unanouunced in various parts of the country, knocking on your doors !! Bit that you're all meeting up...sob...
Anyway, Vino will get my diary out to catch up with you soon! You cannot escape me that easily

Shimmer - DH is putting up the highchair as we speak (ohh, big lie, he's just gone upstairs without prompting to dreamfeed - gold stars for DH!). So 'proper' weaning will start tomorrow. She screwed her face up when I offered her a tiny bit of baby rice earlier, but gobbled up a tiny bit of my banana from my banana sandwich yesterday. Just pureed lots of carrot, and some pear, and put that with my stash of frozen brocolli and apple. We're going to bypass the rice stage and start with the carrot tomorrow.

Dragon - hope the inlaws behaved themselves . And good pooing!

Had a lovely day in York today with my friend and her 6 month old son. Was peeing it down though so spent most of the time gassing in the Slug & Lettuce.
Yesterday I got lo weighed and she is 18lb 2oz, big bruiser! Sooo chubby! She has such a round belly. After that, I went to Temple Newsam park with a friend, where lo saw a cow for the first time. Then it got me thinking, how mad is that - it's taken her nearly six months to see a cow! She loves my "moo" impersonations (I am obviously, hilarious). However decided I wasn't going to pay the ridiculous amount they were charging there to go to the farm (pinched tightwad face). And it was peeing it down yesterday as well. So now am really looking forward to our trip to the Dales where she can see cows to her hearts content!

Wow! I'm up late. Sneaked off for a kip at 5pm today so not desperate for bed.

ellieandhattie · 15/06/2007 07:56

morning

just a quick one as in the midst of breakfast here, how about we make meet up week earlier weds 15th august so rgee could come???

Wilkie · 15/06/2007 09:30

Fine with me EAH/RGee x

trixymalixy · 15/06/2007 09:47

Morning,

Have had three terrible nights sleep in a row so I'm knackered. Seems to be getting worse as the previous two night DS slept from 7.30-11,and then was up a few times in the night, but last night he was up and down like a yo-yo all blardy night!

Is there a growth spurt at 20 weeks and will this settle down or is this a sign that I should start weaning? UD and Jodie I know you're not weaning yet, did your LOs do this?

We're going on holiday on Sunday so I was leaving thinking about weaning till after we came back when DS will be 23 weeks, but the holiday won't be much of a holiday with no sleep!

The other option is to try giving him a bottle of formula before bed to see if that makes him sleep better, but i fear it will be a slippery slope to the end of breastfeeding .

PCF - at that vicar. Why should a child's grave have to be sterile?!?!?

Wilkie and Mrs C - glad your DS' are a bit better.

Hattie - hope your LO can be sorted out with just physio and won't have to go through an operation.

vinorouge · 15/06/2007 09:47

Fine by me for 15th Aug. I nearly suggested it ,yself yesterday but was worried you would all think I was indecisive and messing about with our arrangements!

Wilkie - trains from leeds go direct to london and Newark is one of the stops. I'll book onto the same train back as you when we know everyone can make the new date. Couldn't meet on train there cos it goes a diff route which I chose cos it means Dh can give me a lift to station on his way to work.

Ellen wasn't keen on banana this morning. I have to say I thought it looked minging mixed with milk, will try it plain another day.

Today its chucking it down with rain as yesterday. I was meant to be taking our car for a service today but we only have one key at the mo and DH has gone off to work with it

Will be walking to a friends later to see her 4/5 week old ds so looking fwd to that. Will be wearing my waterproof trousers though!!!! Not the height of style but I will arrive dry underneath.

Rgee - if you get a leeds card for 7 quid from the council you get money off swimming at council pools and free entry to the farm at temple newsam, free into tropical world and other stuff. Its something I've not yet got round to though!

Like the sound of pixifoto....we had a photoshoot at our swimming lesson yesterday but pics aren't on photographers website yet. They are quite pricy though and there is an underwater shoot to come

theUrbanDryad · 15/06/2007 10:39

trixy - i can't actually remember how old Zac is in weeks (anyone else's Lo who was born on the 5th know??) al i can say is that Zac went totally doolally at 18 weeks and seems to have settled now. he's taking less milk during the day because he gets so distracted so i think that's why he's waking 3 times in the night rather than once now. it does settle down. just remember, there are more calories in yummy milk than there are in pureed carrot, and that the best thing about baby rice is the milk is mixed with!! his unsettled-ness (new word!!) is probably down to teething, have you tried the Ashton & Parson's powder? it does work wonders! also do you do baby massage? i've found that this has really chilled Zac out.

OTOH, it probably wouldn't do any harm to wean now if you wanted to try and see how your lo was on it. i'm not weaning yet as Zac doesn't seem particularly interested in food yet (apart from having a go at my ice cream, and grabbing a handful of coleslaw, oh and trying to nick everything off my plate....ummmm....) and i'm too lazy to do purees. you could try giving him something to hold onto, like a rice cake or steamed broccoli floret and see what he does with it. i'm a big one for trusting your baby, and seeing what his reactions to food are!

epic post, sorry!

Zac is still dribbling for england and chewing on everything in sight. he's also got a red bum and very red cheeks but no temp. blardy teeth.

is anyone's lo sitting up yet? Zac's been almost sitting up for weeks and weeks now, and i'm worried he's a bit lazy because i always catch him. i've been putting him on the floor surrounded with pillows and letting him work it out, but he just goes to sleep!!

i'm good for any day for the meet up btw, just let me know!

trixymalixy · 15/06/2007 11:49

That makes your LO 23 weeks UD. Perhaps DS is teething although he has been drooling and chewing on stuff for weeks now and been OK, and he seems to have stopped drooling/chewing but is more unsettled.

I don't think Ds is ready for solids yet either, he hasn't shown that much interest in any food. Although my Dad said DS was drooling at his dinner but I'm not so sure.

You just get a bit desperate when you have had no sleep.

ellieandhattie · 15/06/2007 12:13

you beat me trixy I was just going to post zac is 23 weeks today as he is the same age as hattie (i only know shes 23 weeks because hv wrote it in er book when I had her weighed yesterday!)

Hattie doing loads of dribbling and chewing especially her teething ring because it goes in the freezer overnight so nice and cold i the morning

UD Hattie can sit for a bout 4/5 seconds on her own then either lurches forward or falls back, I think Ellie was 6-6.5 mnths before she mastered sitting for 10-15minute slots so no panicing yet!!!

Just been to DFS to look for new sofa for playroom but seen a lovely suite that would look fab in the lounge then we could move 2 seater from lounge to playroom and flog the other 3 seater. I persuaded the manager to knock the price down originally it would have been £2720 in the sale for £1364 so in theory could get 3 seater, 2seater sofabed (we need as now we have no spare beds if anyone stays!) armchair and storage box and I knocked him down to £1000 for all of it (ex display but no marks on it) and it can be delivered in july, but do you think DH will answer his flippin phone I am so tempted to go ahead and order it regardless
here it is thisone

smallone · 15/06/2007 12:21

What age (wks) are people starting/intending to start weaning?

Had decided to exclusively BF till 26wks unless dd showed any ravenous signs but after speaking to a Nursery Nurse and other mums with LO's the same age as dd, it seems that everyone starts earlier than this. NN gave me the impression that if you wait til 26w then you have a mad dash to get allsorts of food into them as soon as poss. So would it be best to start earlier?.... v confused now.

Gave dd a small bit of mashed banana just to try and she seemed to like chewing it but then "posted" most of it back out again so I don't think she's ready. But seems to be feeding all the time and has started shaking her head on the boob when my milk dries up at the end of a feed.

???????????????????????????????????????????

smallone · 15/06/2007 12:21

Forgot to say dd is 21 wks
