aargh, pressed post before I´d finished.. so yes, I saw that ref on the babycentre page and when I came back on here, you´d found it too.. great minds!

Elkiedee, sorry you are having probs with the breastfeeding. I don´t know if it helps a lot but you aren´t alone, not on here, and likely enough not in your bf-ing group either, even if they don´t admit to it. Not to say everyone has probs but you aren´t the only one, that is for sure. everyone tells me that the more you express, the more you will get out and from the last couple of days´ experience that would seem to be true but personally I have a love hate relationship with expressing. Normally in the morning when I get 3ozs in 15 mins I love it and by 10pm at night when 30mins can´t even squeeze out half an oz I´m about to throw the expresser and myself out of the window. I was thoroughly exhausted by the feed/burp/change/feed/burp/settle/express AND REPEAT cycle yesterday and haven´t brought myself to do it again today. Maybe tomorrow. Good luck anyway, it´s such hard work.

Katy44 · 07/06/2007 15:41

Sorry - complete confusion all round
Know what you mean about the expressing - sometimes I get a huge feed in about 10 mins, other times (like last night, when I thought I'd have a go as was still full when he'd finished) I got about half an ounce in 15 mins so went to bed!

lazyemma · 07/06/2007 16:31

Glad that the blood thing wasn't anything serious, maveta. Must've been well scary.

Has anyone else had their six week check with the doctor yet? What do they actually check? The HV told me that I have to book it myself, whereas Bethan's appointments are made automatically. But I'm not sure I'll bother if it's just a chat and a blood pressure check. I don't like the doctors at the best of times.

Emmymummy · 07/06/2007 17:05

GMM - be warned, get ready for a massive pooh explosion at the most inconvenient time imaginable! Sophie didn't pooh all weekend and on Monday I put her in a beautiful outfit ready to go and visit daddy at work, left her on her bouncey chair for a minute and, guess what? Yes, there was so much it exploded out of the top of her nappy and ended up all up her back, and all over her arms (how???). Needless to say, the outfit needed a severe dose of Vanish to get that lot off and S needed a bath before we could go anywhere. Suggest you wrap C in an old towel for the next few days and get ready!!!

Katy44 · 07/06/2007 17:08

Sorry emmymummy but
T has just been sick...UP his face
How?
And no, i wasn't holding him upside down

Emmymummy · 07/06/2007 17:13

LOL Katy. I am currently sitting here looking like a bird has shat all over me. I have been puked over so many times this afternoon there didn't seem much point in getting changed. I smell like a dairy .

lazyemma · 07/06/2007 17:19

I meant to say also - thanks for the extra input about baby activities, guys - it's good to know we're "normal"! Especially glad to hear about your little boy being similar to B, Katy. I think you've got a point about the baby gym being intimidating - ours is one of those Galt ones, it's a riot of clashing colours and hanging things. I do think it might be a bit much for her just now!

BefnalBub · 07/06/2007 18:03

*thread crash** message for elkiedee (and anyone else interested!) ...

east london may postnatal meet up thread here

xx

Sexonknackeredlegs · 07/06/2007 18:52

Emmymummy, pmsl at your post re the poo explosion! GROSS! Also lol at you looking like a bird had shat on you and smelling like a dairy! You have a certain way with words!

GMM, Good Luck is all I can say. How about dressing the pair of you in bin liners?

Quick question.

Does anyone else's lo salivate like mad when they are hungry? K drools like a dog.

Need to run as bath time for both.

Back later on. xx

lazyemma · 07/06/2007 19:04

yes, SOKL - and she tries to cram her whole fist into her mouth as well. Confusingly, she also sucks her fingers when she's tired, which has led to a few crossed wires over the weeks.

octo · 07/06/2007 19:20

evening all

had lovely day out with wcl and whinging ernie! He moaned all day then as left fell fast asleep for two hours arrghhh!

I use washable wipes - much easier with cloth nappies and don't block your drains. I have one packet of bambino mio wipes which bought for car emergencies/sick and have used about 10 since he was born!

Off to a tv night and some yummy tuna

Cleaning day tomorrow!

Take care everyone xxx

Pesha · 07/06/2007 19:37

Maveta glad all is okay with N, think if it was me i would really have been worried, ive brought up blood from being sick before but if d did id be straight down the drs!

When nath was little he used to regularly go 2 nweeks without a poo, a couple of times he went nearly 3 weeks and he nearly always went when we were out! And D has gone nearly a week a couple of times lately, not nice but perfectly normal

Pesha · 07/06/2007 20:02

Sorry that sounds more dramatic than i meant it to, you know what i mean though!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 07/06/2007 20:37

Hi Octo, glad you had a good day with WCL.

Any word from Birdiemum? She hasn't been on for a while.

Emma, glad it isn't just K with the drooling thing. Ae you bf'ing or formula?

Sexonknackeredlegs · 07/06/2007 20:41

Emma, meant to say the 6 week check we have here is for both mum and baby which I had to book.

For me she checked BP and asked how I was feeling and what I was wanting to do re contraception! If I had had stitches, those would have been checked.
For K, she checked her reflexes, weighed her, checked her eyes and generally prodded her about a bit.

HTH.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 07/06/2007 20:47

She's back!! Well, DH & I shopped til we dropped (which doesn't take much these days!!) and I bought a LOVELY outfit for the Wedding on Sat - THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!! xxxx

lazyemma · 07/06/2007 21:06

well done, CaptainDippy! I hate clothes shopping, even more so now nothing seems to fit my vastly expanded frame. I had a wedding to go to a couple of weeks ago and bought a pair of M&S magic pants for the purpose (I wore other stuff apart from the pants, obv). Unfortunately I had to abandon them at the last minute as they managed to shove all my lard up into a sort of lifesaver ring just under my norks.

SOKL - B has been on formula since birth. She seems to have got herself onto a good routine with it - she feeds about every 3-4 hours, although in the evenings it can be a bit more haphazard, as it's hard to tell when she's genuinely hungry and when she's got wind/is tired. She's nowhere near sleeping through the night yet - there's always one feed sometime between 2 and 4 (although she went to 5.30 this morning! luxury!) I remember reading about your daughter's nocturnal sleep habits and being v. jealous indeed.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 07/06/2007 21:11

CD, so glad you got something today. Knock 'em dead girl!

Emma, K is in a pretty good routine and is on formula since birth also. We are incredibly lucky that she is sleeping from 8.00 thru to 6.30/7.00.
What formula are you using?
How much is B weighing?

Eddas · 07/06/2007 21:43

Evening ladies,

I am merrily sorting my way through dd's 0-3 years clothes and wondering what i'm going to do with them

If anyone needs any girls bit's let me know,LOl, I have about 6 black sacks full

EllieK · 07/06/2007 21:46

hi all

WestCountryLass · 07/06/2007 22:15

Awww, Ernie and Leo were both grizzly bears, one would stop and it was the other ones turn. My DD took her clothes off in the John Lewis cafe because she got chocolate on her dress, I am sure Octo was embarrassed to be with me at that point (nevermind when she was running around shrieking and a woman walking past had a look of absolute horror on her face).

Was a good day Octo, will have to meet again, maybe in the school holidays with the older ones?

Oh and at parents evfening this evening, I was feeding Leo while the Head was talking and when she finished I sat Leo up and he let out the ludest burp ever

Oh and just so everyone knows, Octo is a stylish mummy with a really pretty face and the shinest hair I have ever seen!

EllieK · 07/06/2007 22:17

but does she have 8 legs WCL?

OP posts:
Pesha · 07/06/2007 22:29

Ladies I need a new nickname, pesha comes from maia and nathan's middle names - natasha and peter. But now i have another sprog and cant have him being left out! His middle name is joseph so do I try and stick that into pesha somehow or come up with an all new nickname? And if so, what?!

I should just say im quite particular (fussy!) about things so if i keep saying no to people's suggestions (if anyone can think of any, or even be bothered ) please dont take offence, I am a nightmare!!

lazyemma · 07/06/2007 22:29

SOKL - she was 11lb 1oz at the last weigh-in a week ago, when she was 6 weeks old. She's a little porker! but she's a long baby. Me and R are both tall - he's 6 foot 3 and I'm 5 foot 9, so she'll be a beanpole I reckon.

She's on Aptamil - started her off on SMA gold but changed when it didn't seem to be agreeing with her. I've got her on 6oz bottles, and sometimes she'll drain them, sometimes just take 3oz or even 2oz if it's a nightfeed.

Hopefully she'll follow your little girl's lead soon - at the moment I think she wakes in the night more out of habit than anything.

EllieK · 07/06/2007 22:31

no help here peshauntilifindanewname

i'm useless at nicknames, keep trying to fnd a more interesting one for me
