A little blood in the vomit is usually nothing to worry about. This may happen when the force of regurgitation causes tiny tears in the blood vessels lining the oesophagus. Your baby's vomit may also be tinged with red if he has swallowed blood from a cut in his mouth or a nosebleed within the last six hours. But do call your doctor if your child continues to have blood in his vomit or if the amount is increasing.

sorry yowling baby but wanted to post that
sure you've also looked it up, know you'll be worried but hopefully nothing xx

Eddas · 07/06/2007 08:50

HI, not read all the thread yet,

WO, with the flat head, dd always laid on her left side and got a flat head. She's now 3 and it has gone. I did try to get her to change sides but she wouldn't. So i wouldn't try to get her to change sides as i'm sure it won't work. DS now has one side but i'm not gonna worry.

I think babies heads are quite soft(they have more bones in their heads than adults and these fuse together later on, think it's to do with them squeezing out!)so i think the shape sorts itself out once they're moving more, since all they do at this stage is lay down. HTH

Katy44 · 07/06/2007 08:51

lazyemma, I asked exactly the same question a few days ago, as was feeling like a very bad mummy
T sounds like he does exactly the same things your LO does. Weeonion, thanks for the link, going to have a good look at that later.
I have noticed that although he doesn't enjoy being under his baby gym, he loves lying next to it and staring at it - less intimidating?
I love the wobbly bottom lip too - looks like really bad acting

Sexonknackeredlegs · 07/06/2007 10:10

Morning all.

Maveta, hope your mind has been out at rest by the GP.

LazyEmma, I don't do much with my dd2 either. She goes in her chair for a bit and lies under her gym, but apart from that nothing. We do go out quite a bit - to drop off and pick up dd1 from preschool, and to the shops. She also likes faces, and to be sung to.

How is everyone today?

All ok here. K slept until 6.30 which was great, although B was awake at 5.00 having had a scary dream. She did go back to sleep straight away, but sadly I didn't!

Pesha · 07/06/2007 10:15

morning all

Sorry bout crap post last night, dylan was stirring so was speed typing and thinking, something my brain doesnt do so well at the moment!

Am thinking as d now seems to be sleeping all evening from 8 or 9 till 11 or 12 that perhaps i should put him up to bed rather than having him on his cushion on the sofa. Problem is though that m and n have not been sleeping but messing around upstairs all evening till half 9 gone so dont think it will work.

And as for monitors im loving mine, when i had my bath last night was the first time ive left him on his own for more than 5 or 10 mins but monitors are very good and cos he's quite chesty i could hear him breathing the whole time which was nice. And i can talk through them so can tell the kids off upstairs while sat downstairs feeding d

Maveta cant offer any advice but what katy posted sounds reassuring. Thinks its another 'probably nothing, try not to worry, best to get it checked out though'

Morning!

Wonder how much time I'll have to do stuff this morning. Not much, I'll be bound ....

Spent last night making Orders of Service for SIL's Wedding on Sat - VERY late night, but worth it - Looking forward to it!

Hi lazyemma! Welcome to the Madness!!

Maveta - Could just be a bit of "old" blood left over from the birth - P puked up loads of blood for about 2 weeks after she was born & still does it v.occasionally now (she is 5 weeks). Go & check it out with your GP if you are worried hon. xx

How is everyone doing? What are people's plans for the day? I am home this AM and then P, DH & I are going shopping at Monsoon this PM for outfit for the Wedding ......VERY VERY excited indeed - THANK YOU again guys .... I'll be sure to tell you what I bought when I get home .....

Yippee!

EllieK · 07/06/2007 10:26

....cus he's your wittle bwaby bwoy!!

Bramshott · 07/06/2007 11:40

Lazyemma - I interract with my baby by laying her across my lap and coming on Mumsnet . Seriously though, little babies don't really need a lot of amusement - just amuse yourself and bring them along! I wish I'd realised this more with my first and done more stuff for me iyswim (shopping, walking, coffee and cakes etc) as it all gets infinitely harder as they get older!

Cloth nappy users - what are you doing about wipes? When we last used them I had flushable wipes but that was in our old house and the ones I had (from PHP) say not for septic tanks, which we have here. Really dont' want a bag of smelly wipes hanging around. Does anyone use flushables with a septic tank? Or how easy are washables and where do you get them?

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 07/06/2007 11:47

Bramshott - I use Beaming Baby flushables s we don't have a septic tank; but also use washable wipes sometimes too. I got my washables from Ella's House, they v.funky!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 07/06/2007 11:49

There's some good info on washable wipes here

maveta · 07/06/2007 11:52

Thanks guys, I saw that too Katy before we went but as the dr. is only a few hundred metres away thought we´d go anyway, as it was dr. was in reception so we just asked him instead of waiting for a proper appt. He said prob. nothing but to come back if it happens again.

for washable wipes I cut up a fleecy blanket that I bought for 5 euros in ikea, made tons of wipes and liners, just wash with nappies, easy peasy.

Emmymummy · 07/06/2007 12:50

Dippy - enjoy your shopping. Hope you find something fabulous!

mammyjo · 07/06/2007 13:28

Hi all. CD, hope you have recovered from your pram incident yesterday. I would have been beside myself I think. Very scary and really awful that no-one came to help you either

Elkie, hope you are feeling ok now. What a horrible thing to happen, glad nothing serious was wrong.

Bramshott, it kind of makes me feel better to know that O didnt gain much either. Dont mean that in a bad way but they are about the same age arent they? Maybe the gain does just slow up at this point. One of the mums at ds school has a baby boy one week older than F and she said he is 14lbs He makes F look really tiny! I have to say that I do like the fact she still looks like quite a small baby though!! Cant have it all ways!!

Am with everyone whose babe does not sleep in the day. Got her into her moses basket and she looked to be in a really lovely sleep but 20 minutes later she's yelling again! No wonder I can barely manage to put the hoover around in a day!

Katy44 · 07/06/2007 13:51

maveta - I wasn't suggesting you shouldn't get it checked, just that you shouldn't worry yourself silly before you did I would have been calling the HV in a panic!

That text was a quote from the website, sorry I didn't make that clear, didn't have enough time! Glad you've seen the Dr and it doesn't seem to be anything

Katy44 · 07/06/2007 13:52

Like I have time to come up with text like that - "force of regurgitation"

geordiemacminx · 07/06/2007 14:27

hey ladies... back home now.

quick question.....charlie hasnt had a poo since monday... should i be worried? is there anything i can do to "help" things along?

mammyjo · 07/06/2007 14:31

GMM, are you BF? I read on mumsnet somewhere that it is perfectly normal for a BF baby to go for a whole week without pooing.

geordiemacminx · 07/06/2007 14:34

yep bf'ing, he seems like he's been straining for the past couple of days to no avail....god help us when he finally manages.. we'll need wellies!!!

elkiedee · 07/06/2007 14:36

Baby's gone to sleep on a nursing cushion on my lap! Now I'm thinking I need to wake him to change his nappy.

Thanks for the messages, I'm trying to come to terms in my head with what happened on Tuesday.

Went to the breastfeeding drop in this morning, which is really as much social about bfing. Danny did his thing of sleeping on my lap there though too. There might have been some practical help on offer this week if only he'd wake up. I still feel sad when I see so many other women succeeding in breastfeeding, even with difficulties, and I'm not, at all.

Expressing, I'm not even getting one feed at the moment, though I might suggest to Mike we have a go at doing it earlier this evening and then again later on. Last night it was already 10 pm and then I curled up and went to sleep afterwards, not my intention - dp did midnight (including expressed milk) and 3 am feeds, and then the next one at nearly 7 am (we overslept!) We did get more yesterday than we have been doing though.

Welcome lazyemma, sorry to hear about others' worries and problems.

maveta · 07/06/2007 14:42

lol katy - no it was me who wasn´t clear! I googled it and it sent me to the babycentre page you quoted!
