Hello!! Currently day 3 PP 😊

birdy1978 · 02/08/2018 21:15

Hi lmx0 and congratulations! I hope you’re making a good recovery and your little one is letting you get some sleep! My little girl will be four weeks old on Friday - I can’t believe how fast that time has gone. She hates her Moses basket and likes to be held all the time. My house is rapidly descending into chaos!

WickerHippo · 06/08/2018 21:26

lmx0 · 06/08/2018 22:56

@WickerHippo welcome & congrats!! How are you?

WickerHippo · 06/08/2018 23:09

I’m doing okay. Can’t stop squeezing him. How are you?

lmx0 · 06/08/2018 23:26

Newborn cuddles are awesome!! Mine is cluster feeding atm been feeding every hour this evening and im tired 😴 hopefully this last feed will be her for a few hours!!!

WickerHippo · 06/08/2018 23:35

How’s your lo’s Sleeping pattern?

lmx0 · 07/08/2018 02:24

Eh hard to say atm however try to get her down about half 10 at night just before us n shes up maybe 2 times for feeds however last night id to waken her the 2 times to be fed and currently im waiting on her stirring but she seems to be debating it!!

WickerHippo · 07/08/2018 09:37

At least she’s already got some sort of routine, however long it may last!

lmx0 · 07/08/2018 10:09

That is very true!! How has your lo been sleeping?

WickerHippo · 07/08/2018 10:17

We only really had last night with him, the first night was just when he came home from hospital. He’s doing alright, he’s quite content and sleeps most of the time but he’s waking up 3-4 times in the night.

lmx0 · 07/08/2018 10:43

Thats not too bad although im sure its hard when you've other dc to look after too

WickerHippo · 07/08/2018 11:05

Yeah it’s hard incorporating him into the same routine as the eldest boys. Is this your first

lmx0 · 07/08/2018 17:26

Yip first baby for me how are they getting used to a new baby in the house?

WickerHippo · 07/08/2018 21:09

Aww lovely! The twins haven’t really acknowledged he’s here but my eldest one loves him. How are you coping?

Hjkillas · 08/08/2018 03:13

Hello, had my little girl on Sunday. Pleased as punch but jeez am I struggling with these afterpains Confused
Especially when I hold little one it ramps up!
How is everyone finding their feeding? My dd has finally stopped bringing up mucous Hmm
Terribly windy though Shock
Her not me 😂

lmx0 · 08/08/2018 03:25

@WickerHippo aww its lovely to see when the older ones really take an interest im coping okay just taking a little time getting used to things

@Hjkillas are you ff or bf? I had a little difficulty with my latch the start and little miss had a slight tongue tie but thats all sorted now and seems to working well for atm

Hjkillas · 08/08/2018 06:53

lmx0 I'm formula feeding this time. I bf my first and he wouldn't latch, i was engorged and my nipples bled like hell. Felt like a failure and had terrible post natal depression from it.
Wanted to try again this time but my anxiety and depression was horrendous the weeks leading up to her birth so I decided not to put the pressure on myself. I feel great this time and I think it helps I haven't had loads of stitches. I could barely do anything for my first this time I'm able to be much more hands on.
How are you finding being a mum? It's all very surreal at first isn't it xx

lmx0 · 08/08/2018 10:12

Your doing the right thing for you sounds like you had a horrendous time first time round!!! Its very overwhelming!! Everyday there is a new worry or an old one back to stress about!! Atm its her feeding im stressing about ive tried feeding on demand and had different mws tell me i should be feeding every 3/4 no longer than 6 hours then when i got home she was losing weight when she was weighed so i started feeding 3 hours to help her gain and she did but now do i carry on or do i go back to when she wants it another thing she sleeps all the time even in the night id have to wake her for food so how long is too long? Surely baby would wake when hungry?

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 11:08

Morning ladies and welcome @Hjkillas, our LOs were born on the same day. This is my first time breastfeeding and it’s going really well, but I’m terrified of getting mastitis so constantly anxious at the minute.

Gizzymum · 08/08/2018 14:29

@lmx0 I think someone mentioned somewhere that you only need to wake to feed until they've regained their birth weight. Your HV/midwife should be able to confirm for you.

@WickerHippo If bf is going well, and you're feeding from both breasts equally your chances of mastitis are reduced I think. Just keep an eye out for any lumps in either breast and, if you find any, just massage them whilst feeding from that breast to keep everything flowing. Sounds like you're doing really well so try not to worry about it too much. I struggled with Bf DS1 and managed to avoid mastitis completely.

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 14:46

Thank you, I’m sure we’ll be fine!. We managed to get out the house today as a family of 6 so I’m very happy!.

lmx0 · 08/08/2018 15:21

@Gizzymum ive the mw on fri so ill check with her then thanks

Hjkillas · 08/08/2018 19:29

I was also told to feed 2oz every 5 hours but sometimes she has 30ml and sometimes it's 50ml so obviously she has more depending on what she feels like! She going to the loo and her soft spot is lovely so I'm not worried she isn't getting enough. 5 days check up Friday so we will see how much she has lost but my son lost 12% so time will tell. She is very content I don't feel worried x
