A new thread for those of us that are now in the post-natal phase: somewhere to chat about feeding, sleeping (or not) and all things newborn!

Thats good to hear as long as there happy n the nappies keep coming suppose thats all you can ask for mw calls for the last time on fri and i must say ill miss her i dont need her really but shes like a sort of safety blanket in a way if that makes sense

WickerHippo · 08/08/2018 20:29

With Fred I’m basically just feeding him when he’s hungry, which is all the time, but your baby knows that they need and as long as you aren’t worried they should be fine.

lmx0 · 09/08/2018 17:26

@WickerHippo im sure your exhausted feeding all the time!!

WickerHippo · 09/08/2018 19:47

I am!. But can’t seem to shut off on the night! I was awake until 3 yesterday and up at 6

chelseawilson · 10/08/2018 00:09

Hey, I had my little boy on 22nd July, I bf for 5 days but oh my my nipples bled and I was so sore. He was feeding every hour and I just couldn't cope. My anxiety got really bad. I'm now feeding formula. I feel like I failed him, I had to have an emergency caesarean. He is a brilliant baby all day, wakes up every 2-3 hours for a feed but after 10pm he just won't settle till about 2am. He also has quite bad reflux which is waking him up during the night. 🤗

WickerHippo · 10/08/2018 00:37

Hi Chelsea! Congratulations!. Well done for doing what’s right for you and your baby, you definitely haven’t failed him. Are you getting much sleep?

somersetsinger · 15/08/2018 22:23

Hi everyone, please can I join in? I was on the antenatal threads so some of you are familiar names - hello and congratulations!

DD2 was born on Sunday and is a squishy little cutie. We are working on getting back up to birth weight and I'm feeling pretty positive so far. A straightforward birth has helped us to hit the ground running. I'm currently breastfeeding and making all decisions based on 'if in doubt, offer the boob'.

Also, enjoying not being pregnant and drinking wine.

lmx0 · 15/08/2018 23:26

@WickerHippo thats not good any improvement?
@chelseawilson congrats!! You are deffo not a failure!! Well done for at least trying and making the decision best for you and baby
@somersetsinger congrats n welcome!!! Glad to hear things are going well!!

JenDill · 20/08/2018 17:38

Hi Hope I'm ok to join?

I had my little girl on 20th July & I'm so in love.

Husband went back to work to day & I have to say it's been hard took me 2 hours to get ready to leave the house. Please tell me it gets easier.

lmx0 · 20/08/2018 17:55

@JenDill welcome 😊 im sure you were glad to have him at home for a good while who knew something so small would take up so much of your time?!

somersetsinger · 20/08/2018 21:02

Hi Jen,

It gets quicker and easier, I promise! My top tip is to get your change bag ready the night before but it will still take forever. Just as you're ready to go, the baby will need a feed or do a most terrible poo.

I now have a baby and toddler. I may never leave the house again.

JenDill · 20/08/2018 21:29

@somersetsinger great idea! Think once we get into the swing of things we should be fine. She definitely knew something was different today & don't think a sleepless night yesterday helped, hopefully day 2 wIll be better.

Whatamuddleduck · 21/08/2018 08:12

Just popping in to say congratulations all! My little one is 16 weeks now and just gorgeous. Happily the days of colic and half day long cluster feeds are behind us. Enjoy your gorgeous babies and hang in there on the tough days, it really does get easier x.

lmx0 · 21/08/2018 12:11

Ive only been able to get us out if the house for walks i dread when i have to get us ready and out to go somewhere!!

BertieBotts · 21/08/2018 21:21

Hello! Just placemarkimg for now, otherwise I keep losing my posts. But DS2 is here! We've had a rocky start but he's sleeping on my chest right now :)

lmx0 · 21/08/2018 22:01

@BertieBotts congrats!!! Hope all is well with you and baby bertiebotts 💙

fourplusonemore · 21/08/2018 22:05

Can I join? DD3 born 9:11am on the 20th so she's one day old and it's our first night at home after a night in the hospital. Pretty traumatic birth (pp hemorrhage after retained placenta but I'm fine - blood pressure back up, iron levels on the good side of normal and sent home with meds and rest). I'm a nervous wreck. It's been a decade since I've done the newborn stage with my other DD's and she's just SO tiny and so helpless.

lmx0 · 21/08/2018 23:15

@fourplusonemore congrats!!! Aww sound like u had a hard time but glad to hear all looking good now im sure your glad to be home again!!

YouCantBeSirius · 21/08/2018 23:23

Totally forgot you started this thread birdy. My DD is 24 days old now and coming on so well

The newborn anxiety is setting in. I feel like I'm constantly watching her breathe. This is normal, right?

Gem173 · 22/08/2018 09:59

Hey ladies, baby Lincoln came 2 weeks 4 days early on 12th August. He had jaundice for 5 days but is all clear. It made bf hard as he was constantly asleep. Now I’ve switched to ff, I feed him every 3 hours, use to wake him, but now he stirs so all is good. He wakes twice a night for feed which me and oh do shifts so I get a good 4 hours or more sleep. Have been out and about with him all week and some women always ask how old is he? I say 10 days or less and they always say I’m brave lol but tbh he literally does nothing just sleeps eats and poos 😂 not to mention many people have said what a beautiful girl I have!!

Gem173 · 22/08/2018 10:00

Here he is x

Gem173 · 22/08/2018 10:01

Also at 7 days in, he was 6g over his birth weight which surprised midwives ! So he’s definately feeding well

lmx0 · 22/08/2018 10:48

@Gem173 congrats he is just beautiful!! And good on you for getting up and out!! My little girl also had jaundice and had to be woke through the night for feeds as she kept losing weight thankfully we are now past our birth weight again 😊 we also have that dummy!! I had TT bottles and dummies for my LG but she didn't like them she much preferred MAM bottles and dummies

Gem173 · 22/08/2018 16:17

@lmx0 aw we use a range of dummies, any that fits his small mouth really! Most just fall out lol I’m glad your daughter has got to birth weight too it’s nice to hear when the midwives tell you that as you feel like your doing it right!
