MrsCurrant · 29/05/2007 11:06

UD- only this morning, I was wondering if people would notice, bored of carrot fancy currant. I thoought it was so subtle noone would notice

MrsCurrant · 29/05/2007 11:08

ooh, Wilkie that sounds exciting!

UD- did you see the links?

theUrbanDryad · 29/05/2007 11:39

just call me Miss Observant!! am off to look at links now

Wilks - if you fancy giving me any tips i'd be interested - i'm rubbish at doing make up!!

theUrbanDryad · 29/05/2007 11:50

goodness me, they look expensive! so much for me convincing dh we could go off for a week in the summer! oh well....

ellieandhattie · 29/05/2007 12:29

OhGod someone give me some strength Ellie has not stopped screamingor whining from 5.30am this morning, everything and anything sets her off and then cause shes is screaming and paddying she upsets Hattie, we had to go food shopping which was 'fun' think I did the whole shop in 30 minutes and was home. Ellie has hurt her foot from stamping her feet on the floor and is currently in her room (stripped herself naked ) and told her she can come down when shes calmed down but still lots of screaming upstairs!!!

Rgee popped to nursery and toys this morning and bought loads of bits (super organised I am that I saw some bits that'll be good for Ellies friends birthdays so bought them and then also got some bits for Christmas but only because they were super bargains got Hattie a disney princess ride on reduced from £40 to £12 so have put it in the loft for xmas and got some boxes of crayola face painting sets for 99p and a couple od disney proncess board games that'll be good for ellies stocking and goddaughters xmas present. Got 14 things for £35 so am very thanks

Its all gone quiet upstairs ................mmmmm does that mean shes fallen asleep aaarghhh that is NOT a good thing

theUrbanDryad · 29/05/2007 12:36

EAH - why is she tantrumming? I'm on MSN if you want any completely uninformed, inexperienced advice?

MrsCurrant · 29/05/2007 12:44

yes, they are quite pricey, more than camping, but I spun it to dh that it was the same price as a cottage and MUCH more fun.

laughalot · 29/05/2007 13:33

Bloody hell mrs c I thought you were a newby .

Ud hope the car gets sorted

Wilks what colour eyeshadow is best for blonds ? Sorry about j and his 10 trips.

Lizzzombie · 29/05/2007 14:29

Hi everyone.
EAH hope your afternoon is better than your morning!
Wilks - 10 times?! You poor thing! DJ has got a nasty cold which has broken now, so I am expecting fun & games tonight.
LL - am jealous I want to go on holiday to a posh place too!

dont have time to scroll through anymore for more personals...have to pack...yes PACK!
We are moving house on friday! yippee! Exchanged this morning & completing on Friday.
Only problem is I HATE PACKING. But, not as much as I HATE LIVING here, so, I am off to box up the living room this evening!
Eastbourne here I come! x

Wilkie · 29/05/2007 15:23

LL - what colour eyes do you have?

Wilkie · 29/05/2007 15:46

Right, am back properly. J is asleep, kettle is on so time for some personals?. (using Jodie?s patented method )

UD ? how were things at MIL? Have you got back on an even keel now? Gutted about that bloody car. Shame you can?t take it back with your receipt for a full refund!!

Vino ? we went to my parents for the weekend and Mum had J yesterday morning so DH and I had a good old snuggle and lay in till 8.30am (remember the days when lay ins were 10am??)

Shimmer ? am tempted to tie J?s ankles to the bottom of the cot

Dragon ? DH decided not to go for that job in Warrington. He says he can?t risk the money being crap in winter if the course is no good but please thank your Bro for his help!

Shop ? we?ve got a bog standard Graco travel cot. But I find the mattress/base bit is too hard. We are wondering whether to get a wedge of foam cut to put underneath it to try and make it softer as J never settles in it.

Rgee ? not made a decision re highchairs. Had a look in mothercare ? defo don?t want a wooden one. Good luck with the weaning ? what are you starting with??

Currantbun ? Cornwall sounds fab ? always wanted to go!

Hattie ? TBH, I am sticking with my method of making the bottle up in advance and keeping in fridge. Not had any probs as yet and my sis did the same thing for the twins with no probs.

EAH ? great about the stuff you?ve sold. I?ve got tonnes of clothes on eBay ATM. I managed to sell my wedding dress too for £200!! Yey!

Lizz ? good luck with the move ? I LUUURRVE packing and moving. So Exciting!!!!!!

Right, sorry if I have missed anyone .

What other fruit can I give my little man? So far he has tried and liked pear, apple, apricot ? can you give things like melon, grapes, strawberries (pureed obv). I seem to remember reading somewhere that you can?t give berries for a year?.??

EAH ? bought some of those Danone baby yoghurts and he loves them. Much more than Petit Filous (mores the pity!!).

Just a quickie - ds1 is stirring...

pcf - sorry you're ill
wilkie - hope you get a better night tonight. Presume the berries thing is maybe that quite a lot of people get a rash with stawbs? Didn't wait with ds1 but then by the time he got to eat berries he would have been nearer a year (because of being born in june so no berries until they were in season the next year ifkwim!)
mrsc - i was just scrolling to see if i'd missed something when ud posted about your name - vgood! loved your phobia on the phobia thread, gave me the creeps (as did the story of the faceless doll )
of all the holiday plans. btw! dh has a week off in june which will be v nice but we won't be doing anything exciting.

any inspiration for what to cook for supper tonight? dh is on call so may not be home. maybe i'll do ds1 cheese on toast and have cereal myself [bad mum!]

theUrbanDryad · 29/05/2007 19:25

ok, so we got the car back, and it stinks of cigarette smoke! am so very very i've told dh that this is the last straw - i want to phone the guy up, hurl a string of abuse at him then demand our money back, and if he won't co-operate then i'll phone Trading Standards and get him shut down. but no, all dh says is "Well we can't prove he was smoking in there..." Um, well it stinks of smoke, and it sure as hell wasn't me or you dear. Zac's car seat is in the back! all the smoke will have been blowing into the back where he sits! second hand smoke on furnishings and clothes is a major contribution to cot death. god i am trembling with anger.

laughalot · 29/05/2007 20:33

Wilkie my lovely I have green eyes but because I am have fairly pale skin I cant seem to find a colour that suits.

Wilkie · 29/05/2007 20:44

LL - violet would look amazing. Not bright violet just a shade of it for the eyelid. Get a dual compact - dust the light lilac up to the brow bone then use the darker voilet in the crease of the socket. Choose a slighly darker voilet eyeliner to emphasise the bottom lashes. HTH!

laughalot · 29/05/2007 20:51

Thanks xx

Dragonhart · 29/05/2007 20:58

Mrs Carrot - Last time we camped was when DH and me went traveling around N America on a bus trip thing. It was great fun, we were there for 2 months and went from New York to Los Angeles via canada then back again going further south to Las Vegas, Alabama, then back up to New York. Met loads of people (good and bad!) from different countries. That was before children and even before getting married though. Think you are very brave to do it with los!

Laughlaot - Lewis! Bleagh!

EAH - Sympathies! Luke has been a little monster recently. I miss my good little boy

Congratulations Lizz. How exciting, a new home. Good luck with the packing.

Wilkie - Thats a shame. But bro did say that it was hopeless in the winter. Will pass it on. Did you have a nosey at the houses? Make up business sounds exciting! And fun. I love weddings.

My mum go tme a book called '365 recipes for babies, toddlers and children'. It is really good and goes from purees to food for school age children. I still use it and some of the recipes for the 3-5 year olds are lovely! Cant really remember about fruit though. Banana? Didnt give Luke grapes til he was able to eat them himself but thats prob cos it didnt occur to me to puree them .

UD- You must be so about the car. It is horrible being let down like that and then having little power to fix it. I had loads of problems with a buggy I bought (not on the same scale I know!) and it made me feel so powerless as everything seemed to be on their side. I had a buggy that was dangerous to use (the brakes and lock on the handle were faulty) but I still had to fight to get them to send it off, put up with a crap substitute for 4 weeks and was totally unable to ask for my money back. The thing was a danger ffs! Sorry to rant about it. Hope the car is ok now and you have no more problems.

2happy- No inspiration as we are having McDs! We are not having aholiday this year either. We are having a week at ILs and a week at my dads so not exactly an escape!

We had a nice day with my mum, nan and dsis. Dsis is looking massive and is only 28 weeks but was a good ex-pregnant lady and did not tell her that . She looks gorgeous, think it is the extra weight (she is normally too thin imo and no I am not a jealous fatter sister ) and I felt it kick!

Luke was actually quite good all day (prob due to all the attention) and had a great time when we went to the park. He was racing around up the steps, along the bridge and down the slide. Loved playing with the other kids.

ellieandhattie · 29/05/2007 20:58

she'll be sending you a bill for that bit of info laughalot

Right wilkie light brown hair and blue eyes, pale complexion?

2Happy · 29/05/2007 21:01

Brown hair, blue eyes, olive-ish complexion in summer/pale in winter, totally cakhanded when it comes to makeup...?

OP posts:
Dragonhart · 29/05/2007 21:04

Luke did not have McDs though! Just incase you thought I was feeding my not yet two year old fast food!

He had tea at my nans so had a lovely tea that made me drool!

Dragonhart · 29/05/2007 21:05

Suppose Ruth will have it tomorrow though!

vinorouge · 29/05/2007 21:19

UD - I thought of you while I was at PIL at the w/e and MIL suggested some cooled boiled water might help Ellen's cough....

Wilkie - I'd love to have my own business but mine would be a cafe.
Ellen sleeps in a grobag but it doesn't stop her rolling over in her sleep. When she woke at 4am she was on her side right up against the cot bars.
Your make up tips sound complicated. i have no idea where one eye crease starts and the other one finishes. I am a strictly mascara only girl. Never got to grips with eyeshadow and not sure I really know how to use eyeliner but thats the only thing I do different if i go out, oh perhaps I might dust my cheeks with my bronzing balls although god knows how old they are.....

Rgee - a friend of mine recommended just buying one of the highchair things that straps to a normal chair so LO can sit at the table with rest of family and you can take it when you go out. I'm going to have a look at them.

Lizz - I love packing too. Shame Wilkie and I didn;t live nearer. I love labelling the boxes and taping them up. I can imagine it being something EAH likes too???

I'm using Jodie's method of making notes too!

UD it sounds like you are having a nightmare with the car and the garage. You've done the right thing calling Trading Standards - I work for them, even if your complaint doesn't trigger anything most authorities anaylse complaints to see where they need to take action.

My new buggy is fab. V pleased with it. Have just packed my rucksack and had a trial run of how I will carry everything. DH is going to give me a lift to the station and go into work later than usual so I don;t have to start with bus. I will have Ellen in the car seat, the buggy chassis folded down, my full rucksack, small handbag and travel cot. i think I will be glad to arrive at my destination!!! Brother picking me up from station near his house.

MrsC - maybe I'll change my name to vinobianco!

I want to go camping this summer with LO but not sure if we'll actually make it. We'll need a roofbox to fit everything in the car. I'm notleaving my quilt!!!

hattie2 · 29/05/2007 21:33

Advice for me please Wilkie

grey eyes, blond (natural, honest ) hair, medium complexion, utterly clueless about make-up! Help .....

hattie2 · 29/05/2007 21:34

Forgot to add ... Wilkie, I tuck LO's sleeping bag in at the bottom of the cot (between the bars and the mattress) - stops him from creeping up and getting stuck most of the time.
