New thread everyone - hope the title is catchy enough

3.5 hours from me but I can do London/kent 7 hr journey in 5.5 hours, of course only doing speed limit, a 'fast 70' as DP likes to say!
But only 1.5 hours from shrewsbury. I might be able to do it!

Wallace · 18/06/2007 22:16

Sorry can't keep up...must try harder!

We will be moving in the next couple of weeks, so we have a lot to do. We viewed the house today and it is in a pretty bad decorative state - eg hasn't had anything done to it in at least 20 years So dh will be hard at work!

Leo is delightful (in all areas apart from sleep ) He can climb the stairs now - never one to take things slowly, he just went for it one day and got all the way to the top! (I was behind him)

We have some words here too. "Nuh" being the most used one. He also does broom broom for a car etc. And I'm sure I have heard "more"

He learnt to throw a ball today - he was so chuffed

He is so interactive now, if you know what I mean. He knows what stuff is for - will try to put shoes on his feet etc. He has a wee wooden 4 wheeled bike which he loves to "Broom broom" along on. I walked into the room today to find him trying to climb on it - one leg hitched onto the seat

pavlovthecat · 18/06/2007 22:18

Aw Wallace, he sounds so lovely. I love this age. I love reading all the posts and our little ones are just so into everything and learning, and moving and oooooooh Its just great isnt it?

I am feeling broody . Pay no attention to me.

Wallace · 18/06/2007 22:20

I dor ead all of the posts though, but replying to them all is beyond me, sprry

well done little cat on walking

Wallace · 18/06/2007 22:20

They are so wonderful, it is a great age

pavlovthecat · 18/06/2007 22:22

Wallace - I am the same, I spend ages reading the posts with great things to say, or words of comfort or support and I get to writing my post and I cant remember - but then, the other day, I was making a coffee, and opened the coffee canister, picked up kettle, spoon in hand, and poured the water onto the coffee jar , which I think indicates I have very little brain left.

Has anyone's LOs done Water Babies? I am sure there were some of you, I saw a picture...

Anyway, DD starts it next week! I am very very excited. She is quite old to do it, but there was a waiting list for the last two terms . I had a chat with the woman running in back in xmas and when she said it would not be likely that a space would be avail until June 22, she said that she felt DD would probably be fine, but for me not to expect it to be as easy as if she was younger. She said about the fear thing, about younger babies being more responsive due to womb memories, or something similar, however she said that they say not older than 1 year, but some babies older than a year are fine too! It just might take a few sessions to get her to same place as the others, and I should not get hopes up for a great underwater shot as she might wiggle too much now! Although, she assured me she is still likely to be able to swim underwater YEY!

HumphreysCorner · 18/06/2007 22:29

Bloss-I am seeing the HV next Monday so will show her the video then.

kayzed-flattery gets you everywhere Luckily we have 2 spare elephants (well, only 1 now) but she keeps crying for her old Ele.

Happy house move to all moving house. How on earth do you manage it with children?

Put on 1 lb tonight at WW but have eaten for England. Got more things on next weekend and the weekend after with Sophie's 1st B'Day party on the 30th. Can't believe she will be 1 on the 27th June.

Must go to bed as still feel achey.

Catch y'all tomorrow.

pavlovthecat · 18/06/2007 22:30

kam - I always mention as much as I can, I am very annoying with it I am sure, but I just cant help it! If I listed everything tho. well, it would be an endless list, I would be like a child, going and, and, and, in a breathless manner!

KZ - It is probably just that children are different, as it is apparant here. Our LOs have all got to different places at different times, variations on developmental timings, however, what amazes me is that each of our children have different skills and areas of development showing, but are all moving forward at the same pace.

jacobandlysette · 18/06/2007 22:47

pavlov - the swimming thing - they can all swim underwater as opposed to on top of the water because the water fully supports them. it's not a case of having the "memories" so yo shouldn't worry too much about it.

we are lucky we have a great swim class instructor, who jacob really loves! the biggest thing is for you to be confident - when you put them under the water and also let go of them under the water, you mustn't show any fear (sounds silly i know but....) and just give them lots of hugs and kisses when they come up, however shocked / unsettled / happy they look!

and the other thing we were told is that the biggest thing is to get them to associate kicking their legs with moving along and some get this straight away, and some don't get it for 6 months of lessons.jacob gets it for about 20 minutes and then starts getting tired!

lecture over sorry about that!

it's great fun - not that we've done tha particular one but swimming with them in general.

good luck wallace on your move

hc i too have put a bit of weight back on - hence the embarassed silence on weight reports from this side of the room! good luck with the HV

another massive vomit tonight - am going to have to give him half strength milk for bedtime drink i think as if he doesn't have much milk he is ok but if he has a decent amount (like tonight) he then has a bit of a cough and gets the snot stuck in his throat and then ends up throwing up everywhere. so nothing to do with the paracetomol.

off to bed as am really tired now and didn't realise just how late it is!

OP posts:
pavlovthecat · 18/06/2007 22:47

Off to bed. My early night never happened. I have OH coming round tomorrow to chat with me about managing my return to work. Oh dear, I wish I could just say I dont want to go back, and thats the end of that.

I know, in reality that I would regret it, that I would not cope with being at home all day, but, another year...if I quit, apart from not being possible financially, I would not get another job like the one I have, am in the middle of my payband, have great position, flexibility, family friendly working policy. It will not happen again. I have to keep telling myself that.

Night night all. Maybe catch up tomorrow night.

Happy birthday tomorrow for all the 11 month olds, if there are any!

pavlovthecat · 18/06/2007 22:51

Jacob - sorry your LO has been unwell .

DD can already kick legs with movement. She did this first time in water, and does it all the time, so when she does, I move her forward so she knows the motion makes her move. That was right then? She is confident in the water and so am I, I think. Its probably better that I am going not DP, as he will be more likely to panic.

We went to a mini festival at the weekend and he panicked the whole evening about the loud noise and DD not being able to sleep! She slept from 8pm to 10pm, cried for half hour (DP in peices), and then in the front carrier being nosy, cuddling, we danced, and she went to sleep on way home at midnight. I wanted to stay overnight at the next one we are going to but he will not have any of it!

Ceebee74 · 19/06/2007 09:50

Morning all

Lysette - hope Jacob recovers soon Clearing up vomit really is the pits isn't it?

Pav - the festival sounds cool. Babies are so adaptable that I bet Bella would love to stop over - work on persuading your DP.

Wallace - Leo sounds like a gem!

HC - hope you are feeling better today hun

Forgot to tell you that Josh appears to know how to drink out of a proper beaker/glass - no idea how! Was at my parents a couple of weeks ago and my mum gave him a tub of water and 2 plastic beakers to play with in the garden - he started scooping the water up in the beaker and then holding the beaker properly with 2 hands, putting it to his mouth and drinking it.....it clearly wasn't the first time he has had a beaker - I can only assume it is nursery although I am certain they give him a 2-handed lidded beaker like he has at home Very clever though!

HumphreysCorner · 19/06/2007 10:14

Morning ladies

Still feel grotbags-do think I have Sophie's bug so waiting for the sickness and diorrhea to start-yuk!

jacobandlysette-hope Jacob feels better soon. Sophie's bug was just awful. Hope Jacob doesn't get diorrhea too.

Must be mad as I have started taking Folic Acid as I like to take it for months before even starting to TTC. Won't start until next year anyway if we deffo decide to go for it. Want to lose my weight, come off AD's and feel chilled.

I got a letter from Em's school, she is going for a morning on the 4th July. Scary! DH and I have an evening meeting and then we have to have a home visit!

My iron has packed up-ggrrrhhh!! It is only 1.5 years old and cost me £50! Moral of the story-don't spend so much on an iron even though you desperately want a silver one!

kbaby-am really getting worried about you now. Please, please post something hun.

Sophie having a nap so going to search for an iron on line.

Have a good day girls.

xxx

Ceebee74 · 19/06/2007 10:17

HC - sorry you are still feeling rough.

Had the same experience with my iron - except I needed a pink one - lasted a year but it did look nice for that time

Echo what you said about Kbaby - thinking of you hun

numptysmummy · 19/06/2007 10:54

Morning all.Rough all round this wk then - i started with what i thought was mastitis on sat but i haven't really been ill enough. Saw doc yesterday and he's prescribed antibiotics incase it is that and done a load of blood tests. Not so bad today but still very tender and a big lump. Can't work out why i would get it now tho . Not like she's even slightly weaning off!
No more steps but saying loads - dada, mama, dood dod (good dog, everytime she see's one),ta,'sat? and tring to say Lolla whichb is ds2 nickname. She sticks her tongue right out for the L.
Hello pav, good to see you back. Did you find the thread about a devon meet up?

AnnieAlcoholLeft · 19/06/2007 13:24

Hello Girls,

Numpty, hope you're better soon, and those AB's work, if that's what it is. Must be painful. How are those puppies doing??
Ella sounds so cute, trying to say her big brother's name!!

HC at the Folic Acid! You look fab in your photo, you don't need to lose more weight!

Ceebee clever Josh! Kayley likes to drink out of a glass too, but I think she only likes it cos her Big Brother does, and she spills it all over herself, and me...

Lysette, hope Jacob is better, poor thing.

Hi KZ Did you sort those ants out? Bash em, I say, bash em.

Pav, LOL at your coffee making!!! Sounds so familar!!

Wallace, good luck with the move. Are you going far?

Right well, I've promised myself to Lunch Boy again this afternoon, we'll see if he turns up this time, eh...

Have a good day, everyone

Annie

jacobandlysette · 19/06/2007 16:46

hi everyone - i wonder if kbaby is away? did a search for her and nothing on any threads since last weekend

numpty hope the ab's work - it must be such a horrid feeling.

hc great at the folic acid! best thing to do -should you start taking your pregnace again soon?

jacob is fine in himself generally all day except of course he is crying now and only throws up in the evening - think i might drop the milk tonight and see if that helps - he woke at 12, 3, 4, 6 and 7 last night - am shattered today...

see you all later

numpty - what clever talking!

annie - we're not moving far, just down the stree and round the corner

Wallace · 19/06/2007 18:22

forgot to tell you about Leo's latest trick!

If I hand him a sock and say to him "Where do socks go?"

His answer? He shoves the sock in my mouth

TheGoddessBlossom · 19/06/2007 19:09

I think KBabes is away - do you remember her annoyance at the possibility that DS might get the Pox from that woman's kid in the playground cos they had to fly the next day??

Wallace - that's so funny cos I say that to H all the time - "Where is Daddy/Grannie/nannie/that car/lorry/man/dog going Mumma?" Answer - "Down the road and round the corner Harry"

Really shouted at him thi smorning when he asked me for a pen for the 57th zillion time. "NO YOU CANNOT HAVE A PEN DON'T ASK ME FOR ONE AGAIN STOP WHINGING YOU ARE DRIVING ME BANANAS!!!!" Felt really bad and apologised and we had a cuddle.

They both had another monster sleep at the same time today, it was such bliss I had a sleep too and made a lasagne. Heaven. Well the sleep was i shall let you know about the lasagne later......

Fabulous storm raging here, big rain, huge thunder etc. I love storms.

HC you do not need to lose any more weight, I think you look great.

Hugs to ill people.
