Crikey it's hard to get 5 mins to myself at the mo.

CD - glad you're feeling a bit better. Not what you need right now is it?

Bramshott - arggghhh to the crap night. Hope the jabs don't make things worse....

Well Sophie has decided that daytime naps in her room are not for her . She'll quite happily sleep anywhere else, but in the peaceful, dark coolness of her room? Nooooooooo! She's finding the whole going to sleep on her own without being cuddled/attached to me very difficult. So we get the screamy-screamy thing going on during the day and at bedtime. Am just going to persevere though as I cannot be carrying her around all the time. She's also got a gunky eye, so another trip to the Dr's later today. This will be my 5th trip to the GP/A&E in the last week. Thank goodness prescriptions are free for S & me.

Absolutely beautiful day here today. I'm so glad the weather has finally turned as it now means we can go out for a walk without raincovers, coats and brollies. All good for working off some of that lard I'm carrying around my stomach/arse/hips. Am wearing 'normal' trousers today (albeit ones which would normally be very loose on me & held together at the top with a safety pin). And I have thin feet again, and have painted my toenails, so I look great from the knees down!

Emmymummy · 22/05/2007 15:15

Hi Maveta - let us know what you think of the Lilypadz...am hating trying to reassemble my breast pads, bra & boobs after feeding in public, so maybe they'd be easier IYSWIM?

maveta · 22/05/2007 16:02

Hi Emmymummy - i´ll let you know but I suspect they won´t hold up against the strain of my monster milk supply until it´s settled down a bit. I put them on just before the last feed and the boob that wasn´t feeding him started leaking underneath the pad and dripping down my bra and top. Nice. I´m trying again now but until it gets close to the next feed I don´t normally start leaking again so can´t tell. I do like the idea though, they are nice and smooth and you can´t tell you´re wearing anything, would be great in summer if they work because I´ll be able to go without a bra under vest tops or under bikini. Also, just received 2 Emma Jane bras (thanks for the recommendation Octo) and they´re lovely but seamless and very sheer, tried a couple of normal breastpads under them and looks like I´ve stuffed my bra with lumpy toilet paper so will be a bit buggered if the lilypadz DON´T work.

much more info than you were looking for??!

Noah is doing my head in today. Since he woke this morning he has slept a grand total of 1.5 hours not counting a couple of short naps in the baby bjorn. For about 2 hours now he´s been spitting out his dummy, then crying for it to be put in, then spitting it out etc etc. siiiiiigh. (whispers...) don´t want to speak too soon but looks like he´s finally flaked out next to me on the sofa.. how long will it last? eeeekk...he´s stirring..sssssshhhhh!

mammyjo · 22/05/2007 16:03

Afternoon all. Have just come back from taking ds for his booster injections. Not surprisingly he was not impressed!! Bless him, at least its over and done with now. Just all of Ffions to do now!

Octo, thanks very much for the offer but I wont have your breast pump. Decided against it after a few posts about hand ache when using the manual ones!

Maveta, sounds like you had a very peaceful night. Isnt it lovely when that happens!

Elkie, really pleased you have been discharged and that Danny is doing well. Hope the expressing goes well too.

CD, glad you are a bit better today. Make the most of your dh being at home today and try to get your feet up a bit.

Bramshott, hope you have a reasonable night following the jabs. F wont be getting hers for another 2 weeks despite her being 8 weeks tomorrow due to the way that the baby clinics fall here. At least I got ds's out of the way before she starts hers. HV had said I could take them both on the same day. Good idea in that I would have one less clinic visit, but didnt fancy the idea of the two of them being crap afterwards. They could both be fine I suppose but you never know!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 22/05/2007 16:16

One-handed typing.....

Pain really easing now, so scared it'll come back though.... Need to take my next lot of Anti-B's in a sec .....

GMM - How old is C? How big is he? How long (on average) is he spending on the breast at a feed? All these things are factors in deciding how much to express; but 4/5oz should be a sufficient amount for now, so I'd try and add a wee bit more to the 3 oz you've got so far .... Well Done btw - expressing's no mean feat!! As a (very) rough guide, Phoebe is 3 weeks old, weighs about 8lb 9oz & happily takes about 4 to 5oz in an expressed feed, esp if it's been a while between feeds.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 22/05/2007 16:25

Hi ladies, hope your lo's are behaving, your norks aren't leaking and the sun is shining!

Bramshott, hope the jabs go ok. I am dreading it I have to say. When I took B for hers at 8 weeks, I cried like a baby myself!

Mammyjo, were the jabs your ds had the pre-school boosters for MMR? I would be interested to see how he reacts, as B should be due hers soon.

Hi Emmymummy - painting toe nails is such a breeze now isn't it! Need to re-do mine.

Cannot believe it is her 4th birthday tomorrow!! We are having a party at a soft play place on Saturday, and are going to be a bit naughty and keep all the present opening until then!

Hope everyone is ok.

Need to head to pick B up.
xx

geordiemacminx · 22/05/2007 16:42

cd, he's 3 weeks on friday and is 8lb 10 at the moment, he feeds for between 20 and 40 minutes depending on his mood... have added another oz to it, will try some more later then there wil def be enough for 11pm feed. thanks.

had no probs expressing - it literally squirts out

Katy44 · 22/05/2007 17:00

ALthough Squirty and Drippy aren't doing badly at the moment, it takes me all day to express enough for one feed!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 22/05/2007 17:12

LOL @ Squirty & Drippy, Katy!

So our LO's are pretty much the same in terms of age and weight and time it takes them to feed - So going by that, I'd say about 5oz would be more than sufficient, GMM - Guarenteed, no matter what amount you express, he'll leave about an oz in the bottle - They do it on purpose - just to piss you off!!!! [girn]

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 22/05/2007 17:13

Oh, & I wouldn't give them more than one feed of EBM from a bottle in any 24 hr period for the 1st month - just to really get BF established & no cause any nipple confusion etc

Katy44 · 22/05/2007 17:21

not a problem!
T is about the same weights as your babies - he's 8lb10 at last weigh

Katy44 · 22/05/2007 17:22

i keep calling drippy dippy though
DH gives me very strange looks
well as strange as you'd give someone when you've accepted they've named their boobs

Katy44 · 22/05/2007 17:27

it's that time of the week again

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 22/05/2007 17:43

Ooooh, I love a good bun fight!! [gein] I've added a wee quandry into the general mix - Tee! Hee!

Bramshott · 22/05/2007 18:13

Well we've survived jab-day so far - if anything, it has seemed to make her more drowsy so she had a 3-hour sleep this afternoon. Think I will still shovel in the Calpol at bedtime though, as anything which makes the night worse is definitely to be avoided! Might even help with the cold too.

Quick poll - who has their babies in their bedroom still? Orla is, and I would definitely sleep better if she weren't - eg between 3 and 4 am she was awake and snuffling, grunting etc, but not crying. But I had planned to keep her in with us until at least 3 months . . .

GMM - I will ponder about the Wilkinet, so if someone else definitely wants it then go with them! Was it just the long ties you didn't get on with? I have seen other people using them but never had a go myself. The one I have I don't find very comfortable as I can't get it tight enough to support O properly - I think because I'm such a shortarse!

EM - sorry you've been back and forth to docs / hospital. Sounds like your hip is doing better though. Email me if you want to meet up in half term next week.

LesleyR · 22/05/2007 19:38

Evening!

Just dropped DH at station, he's been called at the last minute to London for a meeting first thing. Hope this doesn't mean George is going to scream all night long.

Took him into work today. Lots of clucking going on. it's nice to hear people say he's lovely. Mind you nobody's going to say "Aah isn't he funny looking" even if that's what they think

Those of you talking about Lilypadz, someone on here said they affected her supply.

Bramshott we're thinking about moving George when he's about 12 weeks.I know exactly what you mean about the 4am grunting session - i sometimes feel like I've got a farmyard animal at the bottom of ther bed At 12 wks he'll be too big for the bassinet in his travel cot and could not possibly fit a full size cot in our room. I know the advice is to share your room until 6 months, what do others think? What did you all do with your other dcs?

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 22/05/2007 19:58

P still in our room, but she is only 3 weeks! DD1 was on our room til she was over a year old!!!!!!! We didn't have any choice though as we were living with PIL & there was no extra space. DD2 moved out of our room at about 2 months ish - as soon as she was sleeping through. That's our plan with P ... She's a pretty noiseless sleep so far, thank goodness - as I am a really light sleeper and a baby doing farm animal antics at 4am would drive me insane!

DaisysGotABigBump · 22/05/2007 20:09

Hi Ladies.....just popping my head around the door to say I hope all your LOs are doing well and that you're enjoying them to the full now....we've had one June bub already and at least one set to go (show yesterday), plus a c section due Friday......it'll be all systems go for us soon.

We really enjoyed reading all your birth stories, especially the ones that were speedy and dramatic, and are hoping for some speedy births too thanks to the RLT.

Can't wait to join you all on this side of the fence

Sexonknackeredlegs · 22/05/2007 21:03

Just a quickie as K is being an utter pita. She has hardly slept since 12.30 today, so hoping she will sleep for hours tonight! Becky has been a nightmare as well. She is just so obnoxious.

Bramshott, we moved Katie out when she was 2 weeks. Couldn't sleep properly with her in the room at all.

Her room is very close to ours and we leave her door jar and ours open, so ear her, but only when she cries rather than all the snuffles and grunts.

Becky was also moved in to her own room at about the same age for the very same reason.

I know they suggest 6 months, but I could never have gone that long.

I guess the answer is just do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Going to have to go to bed soon - how sad is that! Got really bad sinus headache.

Hope everyone is ok. See you all in the morning. xx

geordiemacminx · 22/05/2007 21:04

Bramshott - no worries - I would prefer not to sell it to any of the April ladies unles they had used one efore because in all honestly I found it crap - never even used it the tie things must be 6 foot long - looks like you need a degree in origami {sp} to use it.... there was someone who said that they managed to tie it single handedly between tube stations.. AYE RIGHTYO!!! Will stick it on ebay me thinks - no conscious for them folk....

Managed to sell isabella oliver top for the same as what I bought it for, and TENs machine for £10 less - bonus!!!

ellenkpa · 22/05/2007 21:17

SOKL flump sent me a text ....

"can you wish sokl's dd1 a happy birthday for me tomorrow please"

OP posts:
mammyjo · 22/05/2007 21:21

Bramshott, dd is still in our bedroom at the moment. Was thinking that I will shift her out within the next month. This is mainly because she will soon be too big for the moses basket (not too long but her arms are going up the sides) and the cot bed is too big to move from her room to ours. She went for two nights without waking, and last night was only once at 4am so I think we are going in the right direction. Hope Orla is ok for you tonight after her jabs.

SOKL, yes it was the preschool boosters and MMR that ds had today. Poor little thing had one in the arm and one in the leg. Seems fine so far so hopefully no problem.

Going to bed soon, have a good sleepy night all xxx

octo · 22/05/2007 21:36

Quick hello

Didn't get the steriliser bags and haven't got steriliser out so ernie not having a bottle tonight... don't think I'm quite ready to go for it yet ... All I need is a few more sleepness nights.... thinking of you Liath!!

DS2 much better - has antibiotics for wheezy chest and fucidic acid for conjunctivitis. Took him on very long walk down hill to the lake tonight with ernie in sling and he didn't moan once! My leg hurts a bit tho - not sure whether just walking so far after doing nothing since november or whether have pulled something!

BRISTOL MEET UP: 7 June
Octo
Runny
WCL

... so far - I'm sure there are more nearby.

I will just have Ernie and am happy to go to the mall or soft play - doesn't really affect me - if you plan to bring siblings I will leave what to do up to you - whatever makes life easier! Not sure where you all live but if weather is nice we could meet up in Bath at Victoria Park instead ... just a thought - or go to Bristol Zoo. Depends on peoples finances too - but the zoo is prob the same cost as Jump soft play tbh.

Off to bed now - need sleep! xxx

Katy44 · 22/05/2007 21:44

Glad to read this about moving into own room.
T is coming up to 4 weeks and I don't think it will be long. He spends quite a long time in the morning making loud squeaking noises! They wake us both up, and I'm on 'alert' as about half of the time they lead to a scream, the other half he drops straight back to sleep! We also wouldn't fit a cot in our room, and his room is right next door.

Birdiemum · 22/05/2007 22:32

Been a while so I've just caught up on the last few posts....

Rose is still in with us as neither of us like the idea of her going in with very naughty and active DS2, about to be 4, just yet... Funnily enough, she does not bother either of us this time, even though we are in a much smaller room than we were with DS2, who drove us both crazy (still does....) and was out by 4 weeks if I remember rightly! Rose is 6 weeks tomorrow and will probably stay in with us for several months. I think the wonderful Amby Nest may have a lot to do with her peaceful sleep!
