i have a boots one and it can't squeeze a drop out!
Whether it''s the pump or me i dont know

geordiemacminx · 21/05/2007 15:36

i have the medela electric one...seems good although i havent got round to using it properly..

YvieE · 21/05/2007 16:10

I also have a boots own electric expresser - it seems ok makes alot of noise though!

eca · 21/05/2007 16:18

hi everyone!

good to see you back gmm! I was wondering where you'd got too !

I've got the medela pump too and have got on really well with it. The only downside it the noise it makes and the buttons are a bit fiddly, but that's all.

CD - enjoy your vouchers lovely! I'm sure you'll look a lurvly yummy mummy

Am very of all the people getting lots of sleep! Torrin has been so disturbed the last few nights. I've got another 3 days of antibiotics to get through and then I'm really hoping he settles a bit then.

Sorry there's lots of people I've forgotton, brain is hurting today. Had a huge effort to get out the door for a 11am docs appointment and then flaked out afterwards. I really don't know how you lot with more than 1 cope. I keep trying not to be too hard on myself as I've been ill etc, but am beginning to feel quite stressy at not being able to get things done.

Oh, also, bugmum I was thinking should you see a doc about ds1 crying & distress?? Or maybe you could start a thread on here and see if anyone has any experience/advice. It does sound like it's getting bad. Thinking of you xxx

octo · 21/05/2007 16:44

Mammyjo - I am thinking of selling my breast pump as have decided if am going to give a bottle will just use the odd carton. It is an Avent Isis and have only tried it once and lots of the stuff is still in package! Not sure how much they are but if are interested - make me an offer - you (or anyone else) can email me on vickifinn at tiscali dot co dot uk.

Lilypadz - I have some but not used yet - was worried how it would effect the thrush. They do seem good - am skeptical as to where the let down milk goes

Ernie yelling - must go! xxx

octo · 21/05/2007 16:50

they seem to be about £25 new so would accept £18 inc 2 small bottles and postage - will leave on here for a few days then will put on for sale boards.

ellenkpa · 21/05/2007 17:38

Katy it could be that your problem is the pump as I found it really difficult to get enough for a feed from my boots one when i had Matthew, and gave up bf alot earlier because of it

Hello Ladies,

Welcome back GMM, good to see you

Good to see you to yvie, sorry S's excema is bad hopefully the dermatologist will be able to help.

Eca sorry T is unsettled, Izzy was very unsettled when I was on antibiotics. She improved as soon as I finished them and was back to 'normal' within a few days.

Bramshott I haven't used tampons yet as Ellie said I wasn't sure if I should and yes it was definitely lighter. Sorry orla has another cold. Hope she's better soon.

Mammyjo I've got the Avent hand held pump which is good, but i get hand ache. Have just bought a second hand medula one off here for £20 but haven't got it yet so can't comment.

Elkie hope the hospital went ok today, really hoping no more overnight stays are needed.

Sorry to anyone I've missed it's not intentional

Been wondering how MIAST is? Has anyone heard from her?

ellenkpa · 21/05/2007 18:08

I had an email from her today so she's about

Oh good

Emmymummy · 21/05/2007 18:32

hello, quick 1 handed post....

SOKL - you asked about Em's symptoms when she had reflux...she screamed almost constantly, and not just a normal baby's cry, but a really loud scream as if in pain. laying down seemed to make her worse. she would occasionally vomit up loads of milk, full-on proper projectile vomiting. she would arch her back and stick her legs out and go rigid when screaming. trying to get her to sleep was a nightmare due to the constant screaming. so all in all she was bloody hard work for the 1st 3 months of her life until we discovered gaviscon. go and see another gp for a 2nd opinion - just ask them to prescribe a short course of gaviscon to see if it makes a difference - it's not fair on any of you to leave her to suffer without exploring all the options. xxx

mammyjo · 21/05/2007 18:49

Octo, is the avent isis pump the hand operated one? Sorry to be a bit dim but I really dont have the faintest idea as I have never really looked at breast pumps before!

ellenkpa · 21/05/2007 18:51

the one Octo has will be the hand one as the electric one costs £55 new

Hi all,
Spent the weekend at my parents place as DH still on his nightshifts. Dd had fun with her cousin as usual and in a major breakthrough he actually let her sit on his pedal tractor today - a huge honour for her .

Hope everyone who has had a crap time lately are feeling better. Bugmum, I really feel for you as dd did the hysteria every time baby cried thing and it was ghastly - wish I had a top tip to solve it but she just got over it. At least you can console yourself that ds is obviously a caring, sensitive soul .

CD, glad the party went well and total respect to your baking skills!

Ds is getting spottier by the day at the moment, poor thing. It's not a good look. I'm trying to remember how long they lasted with dd - a couple of weeks I think. He's smiling loads though - very cute .

weeonion · 21/05/2007 21:26

WestCountryLass · 21/05/2007 21:40

Octo, I am really sorry about your friends LO, that is so terrible, I can't imagine how your friends are feeling

About meeting up, in that case a Thursday would be best with me then. I can't meet up next Thursday anyway as my Mum is over but could do the Thursday after?

I tend to break up shopping at the Mall with fountain, ELC, John Lewis toy department and going for a coffee

ellenkpa · 21/05/2007 21:43

good for you oooggs

Mistress Dippy is in hospital

got a text at 7pm to say "am in A&E. Bugger. Not allowed to eat or drink. Arse"

then at 9.20
"Had really awful abdominal pains, as bad as labour! They think it might be a UTI. Bloody painful. Just relieved it probably isn't anything more serious. x"

she's still in hospital, had scans which didn't show anything but liver function s showing something weird. she can barely walk

dh and P are with her

Just a quickie to say thanks to everyone who posted support re my DS1's reaction to the baby crying. Did mention it to my HV; she said, as liath just did here, that later on, his empathetic skills would be a lovely trait. I must admit, I am very lucky in having a supportive DP who is able to be around a fair bit, or I would go mad!

Octo - so, so sorry to hear about your friend's LO; makes our problems seem trivial.

Pesha - you ought to get that fresh bleeding checked; probably nothing new to worry about, but best to be sure!

CD - Glad you are pleased with the vouchers; Ellie co-ordinated it brilliantly, didn't she?

WeeOnion - Great to have you back!

SOKL - Echo everyone else in saying you ought to get back to the doctor. What is the problem with prescribing Infant Gaviscon?

My mind has now gone blank, so love to all and here's hoping for good nights all round,
xx

Bugmum · 21/05/2007 21:56

Oh goodness, poor Dippy!
