Evening All. Have had a glass of wine so lost the ability to concentrate Mostly I am celebrating that S has manged to sleep on and off for the last 5 hours which after the last 2 days is fab fantastic! She has had a rotten cold, coughing, sneezing - you get the picture! It has been non-stop with very little sleep for anyone - I'm knacked and my arms / shoulders are wrecked from the constant carrying!

Ended us yesterday walking around with her in the stroller for about 5 hours to keep her calm although managed to buy some much needed new tops (boobs too big for my old ones ) by telling the woman in the shop if she wanted me to spend some money then to rock the baby for me! Feel human again - have had hair cut and clothes that fit me.

Randomly remembering things... Using condoms for now but going for the coil - works for me
Bugmum - your GP sounds crazy! In NZ we are forced to put the babies out from Day One - in all sorts of weather - all mine have been spring / summer babies in the UK and outside alot and have been fine.
Maveta - I think my DD wees at a right angle out the side of her swaddleees. The Tots Bots bamboo ones seem to contain her the best. Bu the swadlebees are cute!
SexokL sounds like the hairdressers was a success - my attempt saw me calling my DP to rescue the baby from me- she was screaming and she started just as I was getting a head massage - end of my relaxation! Hope the evening with K is a good one tonight. I have to admit when S is crying I do think of you!
captainSBD - you resting???!!

S has woken up finally and grunting like a wee piglet - I had better go and feed

Sexonknackeredlegs · 25/05/2007 20:41

Evening all.

CD, hope you are feeling better, and that P stays settled so you can get rest.

Runny, enjoy your night of dh doing his bit. x

Zaza's, really sorry S is poorly - makes parenting 100 times harder. Glad you think of me when S is screaming.

Well, so far so good. K Bathed and fed and asleep in the basket for the last half an hour. I expect as soon as we about to eat, she will kick off - seems to be he usual chain of events! Hopefully not though.

Hope everyone has had a good day, and have good evenings/nights. May be back on later depending on her ladyship.

Love to you all gorgeous mumies. xx

Pinions · 25/05/2007 21:50

HI LADIES!!!

Just two things really.

FIRST THANKS TO ZAZAS for breastpads, just what I needed and really kind of you to send them xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

SECOND I have had the biggest nightmare week this week, with DS1 (3.5). For an number of reasons but mostly cos he is now being a complete pain as awful as that sounds. I suppose he is still "adjusting" but he won't sleep/behave/eat/go to nursery really really tiring. That and a crying baby its not easy.

So we are all really tired and I'm afraid poor T doesn't get a look in, he's fed/changed/put back to sleep and thats it. (but still beautiful!).

Family arriving tomorrow to stay weekend, so busy weekend ahead too.

HOPE YOU'RE ALL WELL AND BABIES ARE FINE HAVE BEEN THINKING OF EVERYONE ONLY WISH I HAD MORE "SPARE" TIME - BIG LOVE!!!!!!!

Pinions · 25/05/2007 22:16

And really just want to get this off my chest.

Had a very close shave with DS1 this week, after reading octos post about her poor friends toddler.

Long story but imagine 3 year old hurtling down a hill at what looks like 40 miles an hour on scooter. Heading straight for a major dual carriageway. I was absolutely fuming. DH has been taking DS1 to the park for the last 6 months (whilst pregnant) so very stupidly assumed that DS1 completely used to scooter/roads etc etc but obviously he has been given far too much control.

Very luckily he stopped in time but it is something that I never want to see again as I have never ever been so scared in all my life and even as I type I am shaking. I feel pretty useless.

elkiedee · 25/05/2007 22:35

Pinions, that sounds terrifying, I'm sorry that you had such an upsetting experience. Have you talked to your husband about it?

Pinions · 25/05/2007 22:54

Hi elkie, yes I told him straightaway, and I know that he is concerned but he doesn't really show feelings.

Not only that my friends daughter was killed on a motorbike around February time and it just brought it all back (not that anything did happen but that it easily could have done and it all seems so grim).

weeonion · 26/05/2007 03:32

hi folks - hello to you all. hope things are goign well. i have been lurking and readin about you all. impressed with how you are all coping / managing!
sitting here expressing as i typ e- adept withone handed pumping now!

liath · 26/05/2007 08:22

Morning all! Nice and sunny here but the forecast is awful so have decided to abandon plans of buying lots of bedding plants.

I keep running out of cloth nappies!! Think I need to get dd potty trained ASAP .

Pinions, that sounds a horrible experience, hope you're feeling better this morning. I think every mother can relate to that stomach churning "OMG......oh thank f*ck they're OK" scenario - I don't suppose it'll get any better am already worrying about dd learning to drive....!

Hi WO, how's it going? There's a few missing names at the moment so I think quite a few April folk are too busy to post. Haven't seen MIAM for a wee bit - hope she's OK.

Better go, someone is hungry .

Emmymummy · 26/05/2007 10:07

Morning. Quick post. Still knackered. Had shit night really, Sophie can't seem to get the hang of taking decent feeds at night (too sleepy), so goes in for little and often. Is really getting me down to be honest as I don't get a decent stretch of uninterupted sleep. Mark gave her a bottle at 4.30 eventually and she slept until 7.30, so am thinking that ff is the way to go duting the early hours as it fills her up more.

To be fair am getting totally hacked off with bfing anyway. I knew I would as it really got me down last time, but I was determined to give it another go. Took Em to park yesterday afternoon and I spent most of our time there sitting on a bench in the corner feeding Sophie, so I couldn't play with Em and had to keep getting up and, um, rearranging myself as Em kept running out of my sight. Have come to the conclusion that I will stop bfing by the time the summer holidays arrive as I don't think I can cope with bfing S and entertaining E for a prolonged period of time. Would also, for selfish reasons, like my normal boobs back as I hate these massive mammories. They are so not me!

runnyhabbit · 26/05/2007 10:28

So much for my night off!

W went down at 9ish and didn't wake for a feed until 1.30. Dh fed him downstairs with ebm, but W decided that he would only take about 1 or 2oz. Dh, bless him, tried him with the bottle for an hour, before he woke me up. They were both a bit stressed by this point. So at 2.30 stuck W on me, fed for about 15mins, handed him back to dh, and we all went back to sleep til 5.30 this morning.
Have come to the conclusion that W was so hungry, he didn't care where he got his milk from at first, but as soon as he realised it was bottle, and not boob, started to play up.

So now we need some advice -
Do I try W with faster flowing teats. Using Avent newborn atm (my flow is very fast, so maybe he finds it too hard to suck from the teat?)
Or
Do we try another brand?

Dh has offered to be on "nightduty" all weekend, and really want to take him up on the offer

mammyjo · 26/05/2007 11:19

Morning all. Runny, go with the next teat size up and see how W finds it. I have a very fast flow on one side which flies out in three jets and the newborn teats only have one hole so much slower. Definitely worth a try and if it he doesnt cope with them you can just change back.

mammyjo · 26/05/2007 13:20

Does anyone else watch lost? Just watched the double episode due to be screened tomorrow night via a link on another thread. Brilliant viewing, but again left with lots of questions! Need the next series now!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 26/05/2007 13:42

Afternoon ladies.

Hope you are all ok.

Runny, sorry you didn't quite get the night off you had hoped for. Hope tonight is better.

Emmymummy, you sound so hacked off hun. I guess you have to go with whatever option suits you all as a family. You have done so well to breastfeed this long. After a nightmare with B for 1 week only, I didn't event attempt it with K, so good on you.

We have been at soft play all morning for B's party. It went well, although B was so knackered as she has been up since bloody 5.45 as she was excited. She has now fallen asleep across 2 of our kitchen chairs. This is unheard of! Shame K isn't asleep too, tho at least she is happy in her chair.

Had a good night again last night. K bathed and fed, asleep by 8.00 and up at 3.30 for a bottle and then again at 7.30.

I am really hoping that there is a pattern starting to emerge.

Hope you are all having lovely days. xx

Emmymummy · 26/05/2007 16:00

SOKL - I am so of the sleep pattern K is developing. That's fantastic, it makes such a difference to how you're feeling doesn't it?

Well have just come downstairs from a much needed snooze and the house is like the Marie Celeste. Mess everywhere, clothes strewn all over the place, washing up not done, TV on, and no DH or DDs. And no note telling me where they are either. Hmmmm. Obviously he's taken them somewhere to entertain Em, but a note would have been good. And my boobs are about to explode. Am now going to have to sterilize the pump to express before we have a Vesuvius of milk.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 26/05/2007 16:50

Hi Emmy, I hate it when dh buggers off out without a note and without his mobile phone!

I feel a bit guilty posting about the sleep we are getting as I know so many aren't. We are v lucky, and were with B as well.

It will all happen at some point soon.

B woke up from her sleep on the kitchen chairs with a really high temperature. Thank God for Calpol. She is now right as rain and playing in the garden, having been slumped on dh for about an hour whinging, poor lamb.

AngeG · 26/05/2007 19:00

Hi all

Runny - It may be worth trying a faster flowing teat...I'm using the tommee tippee closer to nature bottles this time, which are very good, ds1 could never get on with avent ones. Having said that most babies are fine with them as DS was prem.

Also a couple of things I have found help izzy when bottle feeding.

  1. I found she was happier if the teat was warm...I pour hot water over and then wait for it to cool a bit...we sometimes have to do it again part way through also. 2.We sometimes have to warm milk again part way through.

I think along the lines that when they are BF nipple is always warm as is the milk.

Hope things are better tonight xx

AngeG · 26/05/2007 19:11

SOKL - Glad B had a good party! Hope she's ok after the calpol wears off. Also very of how K is sleeping. Izzy generally only wakes once, but she doesn't settle til 10pm

Emmy - Nice of DH to take girls out, I agree would be nice if he left a note.

Mammyjo - I gave up watching lost a while ago, I heard the other day that the last episode won't be shown here til 2010

Good to see you WO

Sorry forgotten everything else I read...I thought pregnancy brain was supposed to go after you'd given birth

Love to you all xxx

mammyjo · 26/05/2007 20:02

Hi Ange. I read that the series wont finish til 2010 too, but I find it totally addictive and cant stop watching. I need to know how it all turns out - although it will probably be left hanging even at the very end so I will still be none the wiser!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 26/05/2007 20:13

Feeling like a Space Cadet this evening, so can't retain anything - Sending squillions of love to all my fave mummies & thier bubbas though....

You sound like you need to get your body back, EM - You have given the "best bit" to Sophie already - don't feel guilty - do whatever you can cope with sweetie - You need to feel like you are giving "the best" to both your girlies & if BF is impeeding that - Well Done for getting this far, goodness knows it ain't easy - Give yourself a break - You rock and your family love you!

Same goes for all you's laydeeeeees!!
