Evening people!

How are we all? I am cream crackered - early one for me tonight, me thinks ....

Katy44 · 24/05/2007 19:31

Hi everyone
There's a due in February thread!
At least I managed to beat that

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 24/05/2007 20:29

Due in Feb!!!! Good grief!! DD1 was due in Feb - concieved on DH's Birthday / last day of offical Uni!!

Emmymummy · 24/05/2007 20:31

Evening. Well success, Sophie slept for 2.5 hours at lunch-time with minimal fuss going down and I had to wake her to offer her a feed. She has also gone to bed without a fuss tonight....please fingers crossed etc. that she stays asleep as long as poss.

Hmmm contraception. Dh also not keen on vasectomy idea and to be honest I don't think I'm ready for him to have one either (even though I know I don't want any more children. Honest). Was also thinking about one of those implants, so would be interested to hear any views on how effective they are and any side effects.

Emmymummy · 24/05/2007 20:35

oooo CD you racy thing!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 24/05/2007 20:38

I know - right minx me!! DD1 was DH's B'day / last day of Uni; DD2 was our Wedding Anniversary; & DD3 was my Birthday. We do have "lurve" at other times too, not just special occasions, honest ......

(Not atm though - I find the best contraception is just not to have sex ... ....)

maveta · 24/05/2007 20:39

Evening all! Thanks to everyone (again) who made nice comments about my struggles with bf-ing.. now that I have a date for the surgeon I´m just counting down to that and really hoping they´ll sort it there and then and that it will make a difference. Please, please, please. Do keep the inspirational stories of it getting better coming please, I really need to hear them!

Zazas - i think the swaddlebees´ are really cute and on that factor alone they work their way into the list of must have newborn nappies but I wouldn´t buy more of them, for me they are as reliable as any other I have but for the price I would go for others over them any day. Still not had any leaks but you´ve got a girl and they are quite narrow cut in between the legs so maybe the cut just doesn´t suit her body shape well? Do they gape at the legs?

Had a lovely day today, N slept a few times and I spent the afternoon at SILs house who has a pool so managed to get a little bit of sun on my pasty skin in between being jumped on and generally harrassed by my 4 year old niece. It´s really hot! The ! is because I hardly venture outside of the house enough to notice.. this is totally news to me! Think I need to get out more...

night girls, hope everyone has a calm, happy and restful night.. x

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 24/05/2007 20:42

Hi maveta! @ pool ..... we've just filled in our pond, which was about the closet we've ever been to owning a pool!!

Emmymummy · 24/05/2007 20:42

LOL CD, yes I'm finding that method rather effective too

ellenkpa · 24/05/2007 20:54

maveta, you live in Spain and it being hot was a surprise to you

Hi ladies, no time to catch up at the moment but i've just sent my entire email address book an email about sponsorship for the race for life. Please please ignore it unless of course you wish to donate but I didn't have time to go through all the names before I sent it. It's taken me long enough to set up the sponsorship page and work out how to send it off(I am a slight technophobe!!!)

Hope no one minds

Sexonknackeredlegs · 24/05/2007 21:02

I am never having sex again!

Having a shit evening after yesterdays evening. Bathed K, gave her her bottle of which he left 2 ounces. She was sparko, put her down and half an hour later she woke up yelling. Dh gave her the last 2 ounces and she puked it all up! He gave her a couple more to compensate as she was making out she was starving, but is still yelling for more. NO CHANCE!

I feel so stressed and fed up. I think the problem is we got lucky last night and were lulled in to thinking we had finally cracked it.

Sorry - self indulgent post.

How is everyone?

Emmymummy · 24/05/2007 21:04

SOKL - sorry you're having problems with K. Any luck with getting back to the Drs for another try at getting some Gaviscon for her?

elkiedee · 24/05/2007 21:47

Glad to hear how others are getting on, hope everyone else is surviving.

I'm shattered too, Danny just waking up, Mikey and I have both had an accidental snooze since getting home. Lots of running around today.

Breastfeeding dropin session this morning seemed great, very friendly and informal, and I was advised that I might find it hard to get enough breastmilk on its own but still possible, to express at night, but that it was open to me anyway even if I don't manage to maintain bfing. Also another local group at another local venue on Monday mornings, but I'm looking forward to next Thursday.

Then rushed home where my visiting mum had kindly put out stuff for a sandwichy lunch, much easier with baby than eating cold food which should be hot food. Set off for our first bus journey with a very bulky pram to the Whittington's outpatients clinic (probably 3 miles or so), went remarkably well in the sense that we had no other buggies trying to board, and people who might have needed our seats more than us generally were able to find others. Within next 2 weeks I'm likely to have to do this without dp's help to get to places beyond walking distance.

Hospital appt fine, consultant happy, Danny's put on about 8 oz, taking him to about 8lb (was 7lb 7 at birth and still less than this 3 days ago). Everything else showed up very positively, we were shown lots of charts which I don't understand, but it's good news.

Walked about 30 mins from hospital towards home, met up with my dad for planned stop off en route at a cafe, then got a bus home. Another pram already on bus, and Mike gave up and got off bus with pram a mile from home, I stayed on and only reached house about 5 mins before Mike. So, we're likely to get lots of exercise until baby is big enough for a more portable pushchair!

elkiedee · 24/05/2007 21:52

Does anyone else suffer from postus interruptus, or is it just because I ramble so much? It took me 4 goes to finish that last post as Danny kept grizzling, and then a neighbour knocked on the door as he settled down to feeding.

eca · 24/05/2007 21:56

hi girls

hope you're all doing ok. We had a nice day. Took T to the clinic and the little porker is up to 10lb already! Then managed to get round waitrose. My excuse for going to such an expensive supermarket is that it's the only place round here that sells the Nature nappies that we're using. Obviously I had to get a few other bits and bobs as well .

T is starting to smile now which is SOOOOOO EXCITING!!!! However daddy certainly seems to be getting priority when they are being dished out .

Took my last antibiotic today. HURRAH! Hoping the little mite will feel a bit better now.

As for contraception I'm with SOKL at the mo!

eca · 24/05/2007 21:58

hi elkidee Sounds like you had a BUSY day!! Great to hear Danny's put on some weight

LesleyR · 24/05/2007 22:13

Elkiedee - I sympathise about the "postus interuptus" lol. Some days i start typing and by the time I get back to it I can't remember what I was going to say or the thread has moved on so much it's no longer relevant.

Eca - G is smiling now too. Love it. Yesterday he gave a heartmelting grin to Dh when he comes home after yelling all day for me.

I too am considering the implant. I have problems with my bowel so the pill is unreliable for me. A friend of mine used it and said the bleeding didn't happen to her. Also when she was ready for another baby her fertility/cycle was back to normal as soon as it was removed. HV told me that my GP will only give it to people who will have it in for 3 years I plan to lie to him as I can't promise we'll wait that long (although it should be about 2 yrs going on recent conversations)

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 24/05/2007 22:23

Aw, can't wait for the smiles!! Off to bed in a mo, just finishing expressing a feed for the Milk Monster. She weighed 8lb 11oz this AM when the HV came - great weght gain, hurrah!

It WILL get better SOKL, hon. xx

eca · 24/05/2007 22:36

lesley - glad it's not just my boy that is spoiling daddy

Night CD . I'm off to bed now too. I've just expressed 5oz of milk and have to tip it away because of the antibiotics

Birdiemum · 25/05/2007 00:33

WHY AM I NOT ASLEEP???? Rose has been, for about 2 hours and I am not!! Now I plan to try and give her a late night feed before she magically goes off to sleep for another 5 hours....

Night night all!

Katy44 · 25/05/2007 06:57

Morning everyone
Why doesn't T sleep? Not complaining as he's sat in his bouncy chair kicking and looking happy while I have breakfast, but aren't babies meant to sleep??

Sexonknackeredlegs · 25/05/2007 07:12

Morning all.

Hope everyone had a decent night.

Elkie, glad things are going well for you after the rocky start.

Eca, great weight gain!

Katy, lol at "aren't babies meant to sleep"!

After a crap evening we had another good night. K dropped off, and didn't wake until 5.00. Dh got up and fed her, but after he put her down she puked again. Not sure how much. Anyway, gladly she went back down in her basket an hour ago and is still there, although stirring.

Question: how do you know if baby has a sick bug, ie what is normal puking and what isn't?

Need to go and grab a shower.

Have a lovely day ladies.
xx
