Morning all. Hope everyone had a peaceful night, only up once here at 3am. Am going to take Ffion back to docs today as she still has a nasty cough which is sounding a bit chesty. Want to get her checked over before the long weekend.

SOKL, I would think that if K had a bug she would be more irritable more of the time IYKWIM because she felt rubbish. She sounds a lot like ds at that age, he used to guzzle so much milk it would come spurting back up virtually every feed. Nothing wrong with him though, just a greedy little bugger!

Katy44 · 25/05/2007 08:43

i'm extremely amused by this breastfeeding thing! I keep squirting T when he comes off! And it doesn't stop - have to hold a muslin against it while cursing myself for not having anything to express into handy

BTW boots pumps (electric)
I couldn't get a thing out using mine, buit wasn't sure if it was me or the pump. I tried out a friend's Avent hand held yesterday and it was much much better - I got about 2 oz in 10 minutes! She also tried mine, and said it was cr*p. So, now we've tried that scientific experiment (and Ellie, you also don't like them do you), I wouldn't recommend them. Off to get an Avent one today

liath · 25/05/2007 09:10

Morning all.
Ds very restless last night but only needing one feed so not too bad - dd is at nursery so hopefully I can have a nap later when ds sleeps.

Off to the supermarket - am being invaded on sunday by SIL, BIL and their two kids so need to get prepared. Get on very well with them so it should be fun having them around. Nephew & niece are 10 and 12 now yet it seems like yesterday they were babies....scary how fast they grow up (she says, stating the blooming obvious).

Have a good day, everyone.

ellenkpa · 25/05/2007 09:17

I thought it was just me too Katy, thankfully I didn't keep the last one so had to get a new one this time and thought i'd try something different!

here's hoping you have more success from now on!

morning!!

lol ellie - i was just sitting in the house the other day thinking ´hmmm.. wonder when it´s going to get properly hot´ then my mum came round dressed in shorts and i was all ´gosh aren´t you dressed summery?!´ doh. baby brain.

re. contraception, dh is the world´s fastest and smoothest at putting on a condom.. we´ve never had a single problem so we´re sticking with that method. he´s a good lad, very responsible (read: terrified) hehe..besides, it´s the ´cleanest´ method i know of.. no having to deal with the aftermath IYKWIM lol.

my cats are so put out by the lack of attention they´ve been getting.. poor babies, they´ve been chucked out of our room and were sleeping on the spare bed in the spare/baby´s room but since one of them started taking a fancy to the cot and the changing table, they´re barred from there too.. cue v. pissed off cats.

Great night last night. n ate at 8.30pm went to sleep at 10pm and didn´t wake til 5.45am! woohoo.. and then went back to sleep 6.45am-8am... even more woohoo!

Katy44 · 25/05/2007 09:50

Well yesterday was 8 week check and jabs had to go on my own with dt's. Jack hurt much much more than Erins did (typical male ) Very unsettled evening but night was as normal. They are now fed at 7pm, 3am and 7am. Wow James was feed at least twice a night until he was 12 mths.

Where has the last 8 weeks gone???? DS1 had no wetting accidents yesterday hurray. Lets hope it continues.

Contraception = dt's (best going!!!)

off to twins club this afternoon, James loves it and it helps me as I ask lots of questions & get ideas etc... also nice not to feel like a freak show for 2 hrs

Have a good Bank Holiday weekend hope weather holds out but doubtful.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 25/05/2007 10:16

Same here maveta - we've never used anything else!!

Morning - Feeling quite sick and dizzy this morning, which is - Think I have a bug of some description. Not nice. Also P has Thrush so will be starting treatment for that shortly - Pain seems to have almost completely gone though, which is a positive!

DH has the a/n off today so if they weather's nice, we're going to go to the Farm and if it is grotty, we're off bowling. Not sure atm, v.cloudy, but quite warm....

Sexonknackeredlegs · 25/05/2007 10:16

Maveta, pmsl at the "cleanest method"! Know what you mean tho - eughhh!
Our cats haven't batted an eyelid! I suppose for them they have seen it all before when B arrived. Poor fellas!

Hi Ooogs, fantastic for getting in to such a routine already, esp with 2 of them.

Wave to everyone else, as I have completely forgotten everything and am in a bit of a rush.

Had 2 late responses to B's party tomorrow and haven't enough stuff for the ruddy party bags, so having thought how organised I was, I now have to go and buy some more bits!
Also venturing to get my hair cut with K in tow!

See you later.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 25/05/2007 10:25

All the best with the hair cut - you're v.brave!

geordiemacminx · 25/05/2007 11:06

katy there is someone selling a new isis on the for sale boards

Bramshott · 25/05/2007 11:19

morning all! started to catch up while O was sleeping but now she's awake so I'm one-handed.

CD - have you had your iron levels checked? when i was aneamic aftere DD1, it always seemed to start with dizziness.

Katy - if T is happy I wouldnt complain! O will suffer her bouncy chair or playmat for between 30 secs and 5 mins before kicking off and demanding to be picked up again [sigh]

Was feeling very smug half an hour ago - we had a good night with O not waking till 5.00, then back to bed till 8.00. I fed her at 10.00 and then managed to get her down in the moses basket by letting her drift off in my arms until really deeply asleep, and then putting her down. Then she slept for about 30 mins and then woke up for another feed at 11.00 So I haven't cracked any sort of routine after all! But at least I had half an hour to catch up on here and clear away the breakfast stuff, which is more than I got yesterday.

I was just thinking this morning about who we havent heard from in a while. KHIN hasn't been on since the start of the week when she was having a bad day I think, and haven't seen Tili in a while, not Weeonion either. They are probably just being busy-mummies but hope theyre doing okay.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 25/05/2007 11:25

Hi Bramshott!!

I was wondering about Nutty Girl as well. Luce Wheel is in the process of moving isn't she so not surprised she hasn't been on.

Hope you are all well. We need to point the SE ladies in the direction of the thread you set up!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 25/05/2007 11:30

Hi Bramshott & SOKL!

I am rather prone to anemia so that is a poss - but it didn't show up on the blood tests I had while I was in A&E on Mon, so not sure - Might just start taking iron, just as a precaution .....

Ooooh, the link for the SE Meet-Up is www.mumsnet.com/Talk?topicid=2330&threadid=328173&stamp=070524204034 .... must get more ladies to look ...

ellenkpa · 25/05/2007 11:37

Hi All,
Writing this on about an hour's sleep (not exaggerating). Broken sleep, at that. Gabe was, I realized, too drowsy yesterday, especially in the evening, so I took all his clothes up and took his temp. 38. Clearly too high but you wouldn't be worried in anything other than a newborn iyswim. Anyway, couldn't get the temp down at all with sponging and keeping him in just a nappy, plus we had a couple of monumental projectile puking episodes. Nice. I ended up really not sleeping at all. Took him to the doc this morning, and - get this - I seem to have been giving him too much fresh air!!!!!! Apparently, he is too small to be out all day in the pollen etc.

Arse, as Dippy would say. The one thing keeping me sane (Gabe in pram in garden with me and DS1 playing out there, so lessening DS1's hysteria at the cries), is apparently Not A Good Thing. The doc said, 'It might be good for you, but not for a newborn' So I have to expose him more gradually, apparently.

Sigh. I know what you mean, SOKL: is very hard to know when they are ill and when just puking. The doc also said I had to keep an eye on Gabe and use my instincts. Um...thought I was doing that, and apparently got it all wrong!

Hope everyone else is having a good day,
xx

Bramshott · 25/05/2007 11:41

Am I the only one who regularly wants to shout "shut the fuck up!" at my (youngest) child?!? I have really had enough of this constant wailing which is all she seems to do at the moment . . . I know it's just a phase, but I wish I could be serene and it didn't make me so cross.

Right, that's my moan over, I have strapped her into the sling and am off into the garden.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 25/05/2007 11:43

Hi Ellenkpa!

CD, hope you are feeling better hun. Nothing worse than feeling pants when you have lo's to look after.

I feel really on edge today. I am stupidly panicing about going to the hairdressers with K - how stupid! I get myself worked up about things so easily. I shouldn't really be a mother as I am too much of a control junkie!

Bugmum · 25/05/2007 11:43

Think nuttygirl is at her mum's. If I remember correctly (and I might well not!), she said she doesn't have internet access there

Bramshott · 25/05/2007 11:43

Oh Bugmum, that really does sound crap. Are you sure he's right. I thought fresh air was A GOOD THING too, especially in this lovely weather . . .

Sexonknackeredlegs · 25/05/2007 11:47

Bugmum, what a nightmare. This whole parenting thing is so haphazard really isn't it!

Bramshott, I am with you, but want to shout at both children! B has been so obnoxious recently, and I guess due to stress, I am handling it even worse than usual.

And, I have to say I have told K to "shut up" when screaming for no apparent reason.

I then of course feel guilty, but then again she ain't going to understand what I am saying.

ellenkpa · 25/05/2007 11:48

tell the doc to p@#s off bugmum
it was fine when our mothers/grandmothers had children and he'll be fine now
so long as he's in the shade and warm enough what's the problem?

OP posts:
ellenkpa · 25/05/2007 11:49

and yes, nutty is at her mum's, must get working on the weekly roundup .............
