CD - glad you relaxed a little hon. Shame about cancelling the classes. No progress with the straps yet. My freind is visiting in a few weeks time and I'm going to talk to her then, when she has had chance to assess the damage !!!

Mammyjo - lol at being strangly drawn to running! I'm steering clear of anything that would bounce my boobs around too much The though of running makes me wince!!

Maveta - that sounds awful!!! Why is it women get all the crap! I bet blokes don't get their nipples freezing up on them!! Keep going with the bf. The actual snip for the TT was a really simple thing and I expect they will do it there and then for you if Noah needs it. I was so pleased we got it done while T was young and didn't know any different. There was a little boy in after us who looked about 4yrs old. I thought it must be a really scary thing for him to try to understand what was going to happen to him . Dh held T while the doc did it and then I bf him straight away aftewards. He took a mo to latch on, but was happily asleep 20mins later. I felt the difference with his latch straight away.

got to go, dinner ready xx

Hi everyone, excuse the self indulgent post with no personals what-so-ever but feeling extremely knackered!

Collected the cat yesterday, she seems fine but lacks a bit of fur. I have to keep her confined for 2 weeks so the only place i could think of putting her to keep her not active was dd's playhouse! So she's outside in the playhouse with nothing in it except her litter tray and food. The vets bill was over £1k bloomin lucky we have her insured

Been to work for the past 2 days, hence the knackerdness. WHy on earth did i say i'd do it. Am meant to be going in every month to do one thing but think i have managed to off load it, well fingers crossed anyway! My boss was going through all the work that's in with me saying, well you could do that in your 2 days. Think he may have forgotten that i'm on maternity leave But they are busy so i'll let him off!

DD has a school trip tomorrow to some gardens so have to take a packed lunch. Could be interesting since i don't think there's any food here

Hope everyone's well

Katy44 · 23/05/2007 20:22

oh eddas you sound exhausted! Can't believe you're working already.

Hello all. Thought I'd come on here since DH is watching the footie and Ruby has fallen asleep in her chair having finally done what must be a massive poo...haven't ventured too near yet but she's been trying for the last hour, poor love - obviously exhausted now so will give her a wee snooze before changing her. She only does one every two or three days, so clearly takes her a while to get it all out!!

Hugs to those whose LOs won't fall asleep in the day. Ruby did that for about a week. I invested in a beautiful padded bouncy / rocking chair from chicco and she seems much happier to drop off (not sure she's that bothered about the beauty thing TBH). She is also quite good at sleeping on my bed on her own, but wakes as soon as I put her in the moses basket, even though she's happy there at night. Funny things aren't they? We bought a swing for DD1 which was a life saver, although have since got rid of it as they do take up a lot of room.

maveta - re your nipple thing. Poor you. Hats off to you for keeping up with the bf despite that and TT. You should congratulate yourself.

eddas - double at vet's bill.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 23/05/2007 21:17

Hi there Ellie & Clarice! P doesn't poo a lot either, but when she does ....... my goodness!

ellenkpa · 23/05/2007 21:28

Joe goes at least 5 times a day

Evening ladies, hope you are all ok.

Running???? My motto is I only run if I am late! Cannot bear it - it gives me headache!

And who mentioned ironing? I have a pile about 3 feet high and will also be running out of clothes soon! I am desperate to get an ironing lady, as just have no time to do it. And no inclination to do it!

Eddas, you poor lamb, you sound exhausted. I am not going in to the office, but I am getting quite a few emails and calls, as I said I am happy to do it and they didn't get anyone to cover me. I do enjoy it as it keeps me sane, but it is pretty tiring I have to say. Hope you can get a good nights' sleep. x Big cuddles to your cat too.

CD, glad you had a good afternoon.

Yvie, really pleased you have had some answers re Sarai, and hope she gets better soon.

Mmm, naps. I have to say if K drops off after a bottle then that is fine. Likewise if she drops off in the car I leave her in her car seat until she wakes up. Not in any routine though nap wise, and wasn't with B either tbh. Also haven't tried putting K in her room when she drops off. She just sleeps in the moses basket in the kitchen. She only sleeps in her room after her late evening bottle. I guess when she outgrows the basket though, she will have to nap in her room.

Hope everyone else is ok - apologies for not mentioning everyone.

Sitting in bed watching The Apprentice whilst dh watches the footie, so am going to love you and leave you.

Night all. xx

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 23/05/2007 21:31

Night SOKL!

K used to poo LOADS - about 10 times in 24 hrs - Bleurgh!!

ellenkpa · 23/05/2007 21:33

i'm kinda used to the hundreds of poos now, at least they're all small and easy to clean up!

zazas · 23/05/2007 21:33

Hello All - just sort of caught up - phew! Made notes this time or I would remember nota!

Elkiedee - I hope Danny is doing OK and that you have managed to get out and about as needed!
Maveta - good attitude re bf - with my dd1 I had to go through the ropes to feed her - you name it I had it - but someone told me it took 12 weeks for it all to be OK and so I held out until then through sheer bloody mindness - then it was months of ease and bliss! By the way are not having much luck with the Swaddlebees - leaks when ever I use them - S wees straight out the side - yet you find them great don't you??
Hi YvieE - glad you are getting to bottom of S rash.
Birdiemum - I agree - Amby nest fab
Claricebean - wow what a sleeper your baby is! Mine doesn't get much peace with the older siblings (like yours ?) so sleeps through noise like a dream but we have only managed about 4 hours in one go yet...
CapDip - enjoy your rest and your one on one with your newborn. I know the feeling though - you a desperate for 5 mins peace - kids go off, you get on top of things and then you miss them and want them back
WestCountrylass - my DS has the same sort of fever thing - off school today - trying to keep him away from the baby! I hope your dc's are feeling better.
Eddas - I am also working and it is hard going isn't it? I just find having the mental space to deal with it tiring. I'm learning to say NO to anything extra!

My thoughts on newborns wanting to lie on you (for what they are worth) - is enjoy it! Honestly it will seem like just a second has passed when they won't be doing that anymore and you will miss it - soon they won't snuggle into you for a nap, nor be so small and light that it is comfortable for you! I know we all have stuff to do and other little ones to care for but when time permits just sit and enjoy

Other than all that. Life here manic as usual. Weekend a blur of 5 - 6 kids, constant feeding it seems. Managed a day out to the Forbidden Forest which was great although DS1 suggested we leave the baby in the car in future Worked all day today although I did have help - my doula is still part of our lives and I swear the reason I am sane! Bit strange though only having proper contact with the baby to feed - I missed her! Actually she has a horrid cold so rather clingy - poor wee mite - sounds like a 'snuffle piglet' - DP has her upright on him while watching the football! Oh no better go - she has thrown up everywhere - yuck - it could be a long night.....

Sexonknackeredlegs · 23/05/2007 21:35

So, it is not just me with the poo obsession!!!!

K goes about 3 times a day, and ALWAYS poos as soon as she has a clean nappy on - monkey! Went out today to take B to gym, only to find there were no sodding spare nappies in the bag, and K had done a poo. Had to pile back in to the car, drive to a chemist, and then drive back to gym. Sodding nightmare! I am now keeping nappies in the car just in case!

claricebean · 23/05/2007 21:38

zazas - so agree with you about enjoying the cuddles. With DD2 I was so desprate to get her into a routine and feel like I was coping that I feel like I missed her baby days. With DS and DD3 I forgot about routine and let them find their own. Don't get me wrong, am v grateful for the night time routine that Ruby's found, but you're right, the day time cuddles go quickly. Before you know it you're finding DD2 in the bathroom with a pair of scissors in her hand and a new fringe.

ellenkpa · 23/05/2007 21:43

has she really done that clarice

OP posts:
zazas · 23/05/2007 21:46

Baby S is a massive non stop pooing machine - dirty nappies about 8 times a day here!

CB - I know how you feel - I was exactly the same with my second - now I am just loving the feel of my baby on me. Although she does sleep on her own too on a settled day - at 4 weeks she is still finding her way.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 23/05/2007 21:57

I am glad we understand each other .... .....

DH has just come in and he says: "I like cuddles with babies."

ellenkpa · 23/05/2007 21:58

Hi All,
Zazas - Seeing you here reminds me of something I've been meaning to tell you: I never leak either. Didn't in a year of feeding DS1, and haven't so far this time, either. Are we weird?

Re naps: I have become a 1950's housewife. Seriously, I had no intention of trying for set nap times yet (chance would be a fine thing, with Monster Munch wanting to hang from my boobs about 20 hours a day...), but my mum suggested the pram in the garden thing, and I have to say, it is saving my sanity. Just. I stay out there too, with DS1, and I can rock the baby when he cries, plus the crying outside seems to disturb DS1 marginally less. Probably less in his face, I guess. I can't under any circs except an emergency leave Gabe to cry, even a little, because of DS1, so I get pretty much nothing done (and given I am re-starting the working-from-home part of my jobs on July 1st, that should be interesting ); the pram literally frees my arms a bit. I do baby wear as well, and that is good, but this is a tiny bit of freedom, and I think good for DS1, as he can see the baby being put 'away' for a bit. Highly recommended. Plus fresh air is great for them.

Hope you all have a good night. Very of those with good sleepers, though I do like to look into my baby's eyes in the middle of the night, and to be with him then. But once a night would be quite enough

Love to all xx

ellenkpa · 23/05/2007 22:01

ellie - yes, I have to say I am always when I read what some of you have to put up with, spurting-wise!

Gabe squawking, so shall carry him off to bed and feed him there
x

liath · 23/05/2007 22:14

Glad the pram in the garden is working Bugmum - thank goodness ds is an April baby not November !

Maveta, I am certain there was a thread about raynauds and nipples on the BF topic a week or two ago. Nifedipine is a drug used for raynauds although I don't know if it works on nips - might be worth mentioning to your GP?

Talking of nips, no way could I run - the thought of the nipple chafing involved, it would be too costly in lansinoh.

When does BF get easy? Or enjoyable? Or both? I am so chuffed to have got this far but the latch can be hit & miss and ds often needs repositioning several times a feed so it's still hard going. I'm starting to wonder when it turns into that lovely, bonding experience - someone give me hope !

Sleep vibes all round for tonight.

liath · 23/05/2007 22:15

Oh, and I can spurt for Scotland, the other evening I managed to spray ds and dh in one go!!!

ellenkpa · 23/05/2007 22:16

it's starting to get better here Liath, they say 6 weeks so fingers crossed!
