mammyjo, it sounds as though it's one of those things that's suggested but actually no-one does. I didn't know if it was like that, or if actually everyone stuck to it religiously
I feel better now, as when I went to the wedding I used my usual deodorant. Couldn't bear the thought of being slightly smelly with great big damp patches under my arms - was already self conscious enough!

Katy44 · 23/05/2007 12:56

Have had a look on the internet, doesn't seem to be a lot about it

Sexonknackeredlegs · 23/05/2007 12:59

Hiya loves, great to see so many of us on here - just like old times!

Katy, my psoriasis is pretty bad on my knees and elbows. Trying to put cream on it, but like everyone else, getting ready is such a rush and I forget.

Have to head as off to swimming - B not me!

See you later. xx

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 23/05/2007 13:10

Gosh I am tired! Poor little P - her horrid cough is waking her up loads and making her throw up, which is just yukky. Have finally settled her - think she got over tired / over stimulated cos I had a friend & her two LO's over this morning to meet her. Glad she is settled ..... for now!!

Hi everyone!

DD's have just gone off to nursery & I am feeling guilty - Pathetic, I know; but I am feeling much, much better now, pain has pretty much gone - I feel bad for sending them off to nursery when we oculd be doing fun stuff together instead - esp as the weather is so nice. I know, I know - we've got plenty of lovely sunny days to play ahead of us; but I always feel like this when I "get rid of them" impromptu - am I making any sense!!!?

Gosh I am silly.

liath · 23/05/2007 13:56

Hi all, quickie post as ds starting to scrat a bit and look hungry.

He's still in our room (in our bed while DH was on nights) for now. Will probably move him out at 3 or 4 months.

Yvie, glad you've got a diagnosis for the rash. Thanks for the tip, will try those teats.

WestCountryLass · 23/05/2007 14:31

Had a night from hell yesterday Picked DS up from school and he looked pale and washed out, he fell asleep in the car which is unheard of, got him home and he started burning up. No sickness or anything, jsut raging temp. DD then started burning up in the night which coupled with the fact Leo had his jabs and was a grizzly bear all evening/night was horrible. I had the 3 of them in bed with me, DD and DS on each side and Leo lying on top of me so I was being boiled alive by them all night.

Stayed at home today and whilst DS is much better, DD is really whingey and Leo won't be put down. Hopefully we will be over it for the school holidays as I can't bear being stuck in!

Octo, my email is [email protected] if you want to get in touch re meeting up a week on Thursday? I won't be online much for the next week as my Mum is coming for a few days and then James is off for a bit of the holidays and we are hoping on going camping if the weather holds out.

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 23/05/2007 14:37

Oh WCL - [[[[hugs]]]] Not nice to have a brood of sicky children, you poor thing! Hoping they are all better soon honey - Had to LOL a tiny bit at you "being boiled alive" by them .... ....

Think I need to get out of the house - DD3 really not settling - think she could do with a walk and a bit of fresh air - and so could I ....

eca · 23/05/2007 15:06

hi loves

typing 1 handed, so forgive typos!!

Well, I've been trying to do some bulk cooking all day and so far all i've done is grill some aubergines!! And now I'm sat on MN! T had a lovely morning where he didn't mind being put down and so I finally got back on the exercise bike. I thought I never would after all the bruising giving birth, but there you go . Desperately need to shift some of this flab to fit in this bridesmaid's dress!!! The clock is ticking!!

T is still our room (5wks) and I think he will be for quite a while. He is a real grunter and makes some very wierd noises - we've started calling him the baby dinosaur! - but we are quite heavy sleepers so it doesn't disturb us too much.

CD - ENJOY your time off!! You deserve it and even though you're not feeling ill right now it will still do you good

katy - I'm just using my normal deodorant, but tending not to use as much, and try not to spray it on just before a feed. I figure if I'm covered in baby sick I might as well smell too!!

maveta - what's the rayauds thing? i had a look and all i could find was stuff about fingers&toes hurting esp. people who live in cold climates Hope you get the tongue tie consultation soon. My doc said it wasn't a bad one, but consultant said it was severe. It's made a huge difference to feeding and finally the crack on my nipple is beginning to heal rather than get worse!

Yvie - sorry to hear S is ill. Hope the cream clears up the rash. x

Hi Claricebean! VERY of Ruby sleeping 11-8!!

Hi everyone else, xxx

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 23/05/2007 15:26

LOL @ Baby Dinosaur Eca!! Good for you - getting on the exercise bike - wow - I am impressed!! Hope you loose the baby flaps fast sweetie! Any progress on straps for the dress yet???

Thank you for your reassurance about this PM too - I am such a silly worrier, honestly - I have had a relaxing time so far & got some bits & pieces done that I needed to. P has only been settled for about 45 mins though - so it has been hard work too! Thank goodness she is sleeping now ....

mammyjo · 23/05/2007 15:55

Good you are feeling better CD. Difficult to relax with a new baby though despite your other girls being out and about!
Trying to persuade F to have a sleep as she has been awake pretty much all day and I know she will be over tired and screamy later otherwise.
Nice to see you Eca, glad the nip is finally healing. Good for you for sticking with the feeding, things like that would certainly push me towards giving up. No exercise bikes here although I am strangely drawn to the need to start running. If you could see my physique you would see that I am not a born athlete! Not quite sure where that urge is coming from, maybe I am more desperate for time to myself than I thought!!

CaptainDippySuperBoobs · 23/05/2007 16:21

Hi mammyjo!! Well, P has been asleep for about an hour or so now - So I've been able to get loads done - inc cancelling our June Antenatal Classes I am Antenatal Bookings Officer for our local NCT Branch and I am sooooo gutted I've had to cancel - hate having to be the one to tell all those poor, expectant women and their partners. Bugger.

mammyjo · 23/05/2007 16:34

F is asleep now too so am tackling a rather tall pile of ironing. Hate ironing, but if I dont do it soon we will all be running out of clothes!
Dont envy you the task of cancelling those classes. Its made worse by the fact that you know you would have been looking forward to them if it was you booked in to attend. Dont mean to make you feel worse BTW, just meant I wouldnt want to do that job!!

maveta · 23/05/2007 16:40

hellooo! mammyjo - i fancy some jogging soon too, does anyone know when it´s ok to start??

eca - i have raynaud´s in one of my fingers (yes, only one) .. it´s basically poor circulation, when i get cold or my body temp drops that finger goes white and feels ´dead´ until the blood starts flowing to it again, i normally have to warm up in general or rub it until it comes back to life. it happened more in the uk for sure but also happens here sometimes when i´m on the beach and have been for a swim!??! When i was preg. i noticed my nipples being affected the same way so when i was out in the cold they would suddenly become really painful and go white (obv. wasn´t outside when i confirmed this bit! lol) and i had to heat up or rub them (!) to get the blood moving again. apparently it´s called raynaud´s phenomenon if it´s in the nipples. fun. re. tongue tie - we´ve got an appt for the surgeon already 8/06 but just to consult so not sure how long it will be til they fix it, if they decide to fix it. i´m still finding latching on very painful so i really hope they do. glad you found it a help, it does give me hope...

Emmymummy · 23/05/2007 16:41

Hello, glad it's not just me having trouble getting the babys to settle during the day. Put Sophie down for a nap at 12.30 and she screamed on and off for nearly 2 hours. Tried her with a dummy, and it kept her quiet until it plopped out of her mouth, at which point she screamed again. Finally lay down with her in our bed, with her tucked under my arm, and she was asleep within a minute, little minx. Meant that I nodded off too, and only woke up at 4.15.

Just how are you supposed to settle them in their own room during the day? She seems to just fight it? She'll sleep in the car, but I don't wan't her sleeping too much in her car seat. At the moment we put her carry-cot inside her big cot for her snoozes, but I'm wondering whether I might just try her in the cot as it is. Anything's worth a try at this point as she's got to learn to get to sleep alone and not just snuggled up to mummy!

I seem to recall I had this problem with Emily too, but just persisted. She eventually went down for 2 short and one longer nap during the day (a la SWMNBN) so I will persevere dammit!

Emmymummy · 23/05/2007 16:45

Oooo Maveta, I've noticed the tip of one of my fingers is numb too. Just started a few days ago. It's not white (but I'm not cold), but it feels like the circulation isn't working properly (like when you get a dead-hand if you've slept on it). Is it (post) pregnancy related?

mammyjo · 23/05/2007 16:51

Maveta, I would have thought you could start jogging whenever you felt ready following a normal delivery. Just have to make sure you have a very very supportive bra!! Huge potential for black eyes here thats for sure!

EM, F has been difficult to settle in the day from the beginning. Shouldnt moan really as she is very good at night. I have had the same day as you with screaming as soon as the dummy pops out! She is settled now but am sure it wont last for too long!

Spoke to soon, she is stirring already!

maveta · 23/05/2007 16:58

emmymummy.. not sure if normal raynaud´s can be brought on by pregnancy, wouldn´t surprise me if so..

n is also refusing to sleep in the day unless we go out in the car when he falls asleep instantly OR if we sleep with him. what are you all doing about this? do you ´make´them have naps/ leave them to scream?? n just won´t be put down lately and it´s driving me nuts. i just detached him from the boob (where he´s been for an hour) to go to the toilet.. he was quiet for as long as it took to get my trousers down and then screamed hysterically until i got back to him. i can´t do ANYTHING at the moment.

Emmymummy · 23/05/2007 17:12

Ah Maveta, comforting to know it's not just me then . I find it hard to get myself breakfast/lunch and find myself chanting at S 'if I don't eat then neither do you!'. I'm afraid I'm of the 'let then scream a bit' school of thought. If you've done everything you can to satisfy their needs (i.e. they're fed, clean and safe) and they still scream when you put them down then that's just how it's gonna be! You can't lug them with you everywhere you go. They will get over it!

When I had Em I remember complaining to my HV that I couldn't get a moment to have a shower and she said to put her in her cot where she couldn't come to any harm, go grab a shower and let her scream. I mean, obviously you wouldn't leave them there for hours and hours, but you've got to shower, eat and go to the loo at some point!

Emmymummy · 23/05/2007 17:14

Oh yes, in answer to your question, I will be persevering with 'making' S have a nap during the day. I need to get some kind of routine going, and she really should have a decent sleep during the middle part of the day.

maveta · 23/05/2007 17:15

well i think i´m joining that school of thought and quickly! just went to hang up laundry and left him for 5 mins tops and came back to him again in hysterics as if he´d been left for days. now back on the boob...siiiiiiiiiigh.

Watcha Ellie. Gotta go and collect Em from after school club. Catch up later...

octo · 23/05/2007 17:26

I realise now why people don't post on bf boards! Helpful as some of the advice is I feel guilty about giving ernie a ff bottle tonight - forgot how stressful this whole bf thing was!

I am planning to start running after half term at 7 weeks then take Ernie with me from 3 months - need to build up my own stamina/muscle tone before start pushing him. Have thought about starting a 'Pushy Mums' club in the village - does anyone else have one of these?

Haven't read much - still bleary eyed! Boys gone to footie so going to sit in garden and have glass of wine

ellenkpa · 23/05/2007 17:29

we don't have one but i met a March mummy in the village today so we're gonna start walking together, she's new to the area and i know my way around, or so she thinks

Hi everyone,
had a really good day after the awful morning. T has had a few decent naps and is asleep at the moment. In between he's been happy and not screaming!
I know what you mean maveta about the hysterics. If I leave T crying for 5 mins I come back to find him with tears all over his face (I didn't realise babies actually cried tears!!), bottom lip wobbling, looking like he should be in a NSPCC advert
I've also decided I could never do cc as on the odd occassion where he's stopped crying when I've left him I've had to dash back to check he hasn't choked! I know it's not really possible but still!

octo - don't feel guilt, that's just going to be something else for you to worry about! Hope the ff bottle helps tonight
