you choose - for you or for your bubba

I can't believe the May thread is so excited that their babies are arriving. That time in our lives seems like soooooo long ago .

foxcub · 25/05/2007 13:13

Muppet - those pads are brill hot (I usually bung mine in hot water for 4 mins then onto boob).

eidsvold · 25/05/2007 13:31

wow had an indian for dinner tonight - two have opened in our local area and one delivers - wasn;t bad - we were hanging out for the onion bhajis - not that great sadly - very very very salty. Miss the M&S ones and the ones our local indian used to do in the UK.

so nice not to do the cooking and to even have to think about dinner - but it is not cheap and so will be a treat.

saw the OT today and we have come up with strategies for toilet training/timing dd1 - she seems to be displaying lots of signs of readiness so we are going to bite the bullet.

dd3 still being a laid back relaxed baby. Really does make our busy life a little easier.

Managed to catch up with a friend that I had not seen since last year - showed off dd3.

[jealous] of your meet up. Told you - come to ours for a picnic - huge garden, huge play area - dd2 would be in her element with all those babies to coo over!!

DollyPopsOut · 25/05/2007 14:48

So shall we make the next meet up at Eids' place then? We could bring some M and S goodies to you.

Piffle - sorry DD is still so poorly. You must be knackered as well.

I put hot flannels on my norks in the bath when they are tender or full. Usually does the trick.

Am embarrassed to say that there has been very little "fun" chez Dolly since last summer . July was soooooooo hot and then I got the MS from Aug until mid Oct, then started to get huge. Think I may have revirginalised . If ever I make overtures to DH now, he thinks I am drunk! Still, will try to get back in the saddle soon.

Am loving the talk of weddings. ANyone else planning on it?

Just going to shut my eyes for 10 mins while DD1 kips. We walked for over an hour this am, and are off to the park when she gets up. At this rate I'll have sweated off a few stone!

Piffle · 25/05/2007 15:20

DD is asleep now, her temp has come back only 38 and she copes dead well, but poor her, she always gets it worse than any other child and is just such a little trooper, she never moans.

Eids don't tempt us

God I've just eaten 3/4 of a pot of Haagen Dazs
Oh well... shit happens

Muppet glad they turned up safely, hope they help

Hope Mossie is ok and has a nice weekend

Sazzy, here is hoping things are getting better, hope Elliott is ok and that you;re ok after being burgled. Seething on your behalf.

kittyhas6 · 25/05/2007 17:26

Well for the first time since he was born, 6 weeks ago Ronnie has slept for good long stretches during the day. I have actually been able to get some jobs done. I wonder what sort of night we're in for

evenhope · 25/05/2007 18:00

Just a quick one while DD amuses herself grinning at the bears in her bouncy chair. It's my birthday today. I can't believe I'm 44 . 43 sounded positively youthful- how did that happen? Went out for dinner & got a free bottle of wine. DH driving and couldn't drink it so I knocked back 3 glasses. Feeling it now!!!! DH has taken DS2 and DS3 off to collect DS1 from uni leaving me on my own with DD overnight, which is quite scary. DS2 has set up Sonic on the X Box for me... I doubt I'll remember the instructions for turning it on

muppethasakitten · 25/05/2007 18:14

Happy Birthday evenhope ... sounds like a boozy lunch!! marvellous! Hope you enjoy having all your brood with you tomorrow! (hope you don't get a hangover!)

foxcub · 25/05/2007 18:14

Dolly - PMSL at your post about your lurve life!

Kitty - perhaps Ronnie is reaching a new sophisticated 6 weeker phase now? Contented, mellow etc? he's probably exhausted after yesterday!!

Eids - wanna set a date for our visit then ? If I went to Oz I'd probably never want to come back here...

Mega hug vibes to Sazzy and Mossie

Anyone have sazzy's mobile number or e-mail address? If so could you text it to me on 07902-208-830 - hoping to see her at the meet up next week

kittyhas6 · 25/05/2007 20:32

HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVENHOPE have a great time!!!! xxx

CallieNewMum · 25/05/2007 21:09

Happy birthday Evenhope - sounds like a good one! Good luck with the babe on your own.

I should say I'm not relying on not having my period to avoid pregnancy. Mostly relying on not having much action, and self-restraint on DP's part when there is !

Dolly, just out of curiosity, what pump have you got? Mine from hospital was Ameda and I used to do double pumping in a sadly vain attempt to boost my milk supply - when I first started doing it, it was hilarious trying to keep the one on while positioning the other. Used to feel like a right charlie when I was in the bfing room in hospital holding two pots under my tiny norks!

Kitty - glad to hear Ronnie gave you an easier day .

Sponge - hope your cyst clears up - where is it? I had three on my ovaries and it was sheer hell. Give me childbirth any day.

Piffle - hope your daughter gets better soon. The mighty Finn sounds like a lovely baby.

Muppet - hope you enjoyed your sit in the sunshine , and that the mastitis doesn't reappear. Those gel pads sound good. If I have another one, I'm going to invest in some before the baby arrives!

Do you remember me saying about that girl from hospital who kept arranging to meet then cancelling, the last time as she said she had flu. Well, I feel a bit bad saying I thought she was lying about it, because a few days after the third cancellation I had another text from her saying she was getting over the flu and would I like to come round to hers and take the babies swimming in the pool at her apartment block. In the end, it turned out the pool was closed for a while, but we still arranged to meet and I went over there today to see her, so I'm glad I was wrong. Her son has a cleft lip and palate and will have to have an operation for it next month which must be very worrying. He's a lovely baby.

CallieNewMum · 25/05/2007 21:11

Kitty/Diva - interesting what you said about boys being easier than girls to potty train. I always had the impression it was the other way around, so that's quite encouraging (I know I'm getting slightly ahead of myself here...)

divastrop · 25/05/2007 21:25

happy birthday evenhope

i am a bit drunk(hic)as i started drinkingn wine then remembered i was meant to be on the gin(it always used to make af arrive without fail)so ive had 2 glasses of wine and 2 gins.

i blame the 'teenager in the 90's' thread which made me harp back to my carefree, high alcohol tolerence days!
i forgot i was past it...

fox-have a fun evening.

kitty-im starting to regret ever posting on the 6 kids thread.Ronnie is obviously turning into an angel now he's hit 6 weeks.im sure he will sleep through now.

callie-you werent to know!its good you met up with her in the end and had a nice time.

Shrinkinglily · 25/05/2007 22:39

Happy Birthday Evenhope!

foxcub · 26/05/2007 00:26

Callie - you going to see her again then? (whispers: now you know she's not a "liar liar pants on fire")

LunarSea · 26/05/2007 08:11

Callie - I reckon girls are usually ready earlier, but the advantage with boys is if you do it in the summer, when they announce "I want a wee" you can always point them at the nearest tree/patch of grass and let them do it standing up. Might not work as well if you're in an urban area with lots of observers around I guess!

A fiend of mine told us she'd potty trained her ds when he was just one - but she also said, many months later, that she could never go out without taking six sets of spare clothes for him. So much easier to leave it later and only get one or two accidents in total IMHO.

kittyhas6 · 26/05/2007 08:16

Yeah, i'd always been told that girls were easier to potty train . Maybe my older boys were just very advanced !!!.

Glad everything got sorted out with your new mate callie

Shrinkinglily · 26/05/2007 09:22

Ds1 was a dream to potty train. 2.5 years all done night and day in 2 weeks.

Dd nightmare, she's now 4 and still has accidents often and nappy at night.

ds2 is going to be potty trained in a week or two and I'm really hoping he'll be like his brother not his sister!

kittyhas6 · 26/05/2007 09:46

Rosy, so your 4 year old is still in nappes at night? Phew, that makes me feel better iyswim!!

I've developed a rotton cold today, kids have had it all week. A friend of mine whom I saw very recently phoned me last night to say her, her, daughter and hubbie have just had German measles. DD3 has been particularly unwell these last couple of weeks and did have a horrible rash appear during the week so maybe she had it too ??

divastrop · 26/05/2007 10:10

theres a thread about night time nappies and one about potty training ann 11 month old goig on atm

give me a boy to potty train any day.oh no,ive got 2 more girls to do.no no no.

its dps birthday today.24.i cant even remember being that young!

Elsie slept from 8.15pm-3.15amthen 3.30-7.30(when i woke her up,nasty mummy that i am).
i better go and do some half-arsed tidying before the rellies arrive.

AmieR · 26/05/2007 10:36

11 months..why do some people seem to want their children to grow up so quick? I'm trying to enjoy Joseph while he's so young ass I know it won't be long

foxcub · 26/05/2007 10:54

Amie : "he's so young ass" ?

Well I have a secret actually, DS1 still wears pull ups at night - as he sleeps so heavily he can't wake up to wee. His cousin was exactly the same so I try not to get stressed about it, as apparently its hereditary. Have been on threads discussing etc and advise is to wait until his body is ready and not make a fuss about it. With DS it dates back to problems he has had breathing and the fact he was ill a lot for about 2 years with his ears/nose/throat, so am just going to leave it - hoping it'll happen naturally when he wants to start having sleepovers.

DD is 4 in July and still in night pull ups.

Both were potty trained when they hit their 3rd birthday and did it in about 3 days - deliberately waited until they were older so it would be straight forward.

muppethasakitten · 26/05/2007 10:57

Amie - that's modern living for you. Some people want everything done yesterday... we're forgetting that some things should be enjoyed and taken time over...

divastrop · 26/05/2007 15:24

fox-what date is your dd's birthday?my ds2 is 4 on july 23rd.

my dd1 is still in pull ups at night, which i wish they'd had in my day instead of being dragged round doctors/child psychs to find out why i still wet the bed after the age of 5erm...maybe cos i kept getting cystitis over and over again?
i was fine as soon as i turned 9 and started puberty for some reason(apart from one drunken incident when i was 17).

Elsie is struggling to drink her bottles.i donr know if shes teething or if its the heat.she doesnt like the heat, same as me.i get really narky, and i was narky to start with due to the absent af...grrrr.

AmieR · 26/05/2007 15:36

Fox - must have been all the toilet talk.. or the my inability to type

kittyhas6 · 26/05/2007 15:47

can't remember what I was going to say
