March 2007 - breakaway thread for lardy ladies

Thought I would start a separate thread for those of us on the March thread who are trying to lose weight etc so we can support each other without troubling the others with our food talk etc.

I'll start - have lost 8 1/2 lbs through Weightwatchers since DD2 born, with about another 2 stone to go.

Have done OK today, although I had 2 biscuits at a friend's house this morning. Not enough exercise either.

By the way, anyone from other months / years etc most welcome to join in

Let's see if we can help each other back to our former selves (or thinner in my case - my former self has ranged from a 12 to a large 16 over the years and I am aiming for the lower end again )

i will join you when dh and I have managed to eat the $100 worth of choc that we won in a raffle on the weekend unfortunately choc is my weakness - am craving it like mad!!

Even worse we are coming into winter - comfort dinners - thick stews, desserts with hot custard, lots of hot choc before bed - I am doomed!!

However - need to take up my gym membership again - going to see if they can add some months to compensate for when I could not attend due to pregnancy and child care issues. Once this cold has gone - off for my assessment.

Very good start to day for me - porridge and banana for breakfast and cup of tea.

However, I am now starving and looking in the cupboard.

Riding today for exercise and walking to school and back.

Not bad for me - had muesli this morning and 2 cups of tea. Last night was lots of asparagus, some ham and potatoes. I went to fat fighters and have only lost 1/2 lb in the last week. Think my comfort eating and drinking is catchin up on me.

Have a wonderful home day of jobs stretching ahead of me - will try to stay out of the kitchen.

have a fab recipe - weight watchers one for broccoli and cheese crepes - scrummy.

another one dh and I like is a choc banana cake - low in points and can satisfy a sweet tooth like me.

is it worth posting low fat etc recipes for each other as well - cause it is easy to just eat the same thing week in, week out and that can cause you to plateau??

just a thought.

it's a top thought eids - and if i had any low fat recipes i'd be posting them! All mine involve high calorie intake!

Love the sound of both your recipes though but can you cook them for me too!?

the crepe one is a bit fiddly but I figuredI would do double the sauce and freeze it - that way just make the crepes and ready to go.

the choc banana is easy peasy - bung it all in - and way you go. Am sure I have posted it here before see if I can find a link.

got some fab ww books - one even has it segmented into - meals for one, two, four and six - even easier to work on.

CHOCOLATE BANANA BREAD:

1 ¼ cups Self Raising Flour
1tsp cinnamon
30g butter
1/4 cup caster sugar
1/4 cup splenda( artificial sweetner/ ( caster sugar)
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 medium banana ? mashed
1/4 cup milk ( skim if you like)
50g dark chocolate bits

  1. Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celsius
  2. Sift the flour and cinnamon into a medium bowl and using your fingertips rub in the butter
  3. Stir in the remaining ingredients ? sugar, splenda, banana, egg, milk and choc bits
  4. Pour into a prepared loaf tin.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until cooked.
  6. Cool and cut into slices ready to serve.

Eids - that looks gorgeous! Can you give us an idea of how big a cup is - about 4 oz (just under 125g for the younger readers )?

Thanks

Just got back from riding lesson and boy do my muscles ache. Am certain it will have burned lots of calories but I will make up for that now by being unable to move for 2 days... thereby using up no calories! Oh - and it made me so hungry i ate 2 chocolate cakes and a load of greek yoghurt with honey.

Is it tru that riding kind of beats all the cellulite out of one's arse?

Diva - I'm more of a "warmer upper" than a cook! I'm really great at warming things up!

i'll let you know foxy!

Report

foxy - I tend to do the simple things - if it looks too hard might be brave but tend to go for the easier options. Mainly cause I can't leave my two alone for any length of time at the moment or they are at each other.

love winter - lots of big casseroles and stews, pies etc bubbling away on the stove.

I did make my own pizza bases for the first time the other week - tired of not being able to get any for the dds to have single pizzas.

am happy to share easy recipes with anyone.

Yesterday....I had porridge, loadsa chocolate, curry for lunch, rhubarb and custard, fish and chips for tea, cranberry wheats for supper... had small portions though. Loads of fluids all day too. Feel ok.

This morning I saw a bit of gmtv with Paul Mckenna and two women using his system of not dieting to lose weight...looks good
I like taking note of what I've eaten, maybe it reminds me that I have eaten plenty and I'm not going to starve.

kitty-dp and i are getting married in october, and im no way getting married in anything over a size 10.i havent told anybody yet as we havent booked it yet.

fox-i am great at warming things up.i can 'cook' if that means take something out of the freezer and put it in the cooker/microwave for a specified length of time.

yesterday i had a double decker, some nutty chocolate, and a very bad ready meal.so although i probably only had aboue 1200 calories all day,it was 1200 calories of pure crap

rosy-good idea, make sure you dont accidentally starve yourself
