As for DS1 he is the same age as mine, and was THE worst for going to bed. I was absolutely useless at it, the best advice i could give on that is to let partner put them to bed and to be stupidly strict about it, that worked for us and now he is totally fine, BUT it took 3 years to get there .

Pinions · 14/05/2007 20:48

Hi ellie i'd be interested in one of those too and :

ps did u escape stretchmarks???

ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 20:55

i've found one on this website just wondered if mothercare or anywhere sells them

I have one stretchmark, starts at my belly button and heads downwards, as i lose more weight it gets longer

Can you believe I now have MASTITIS!!!! Is there any other bf ailment I can get !!!! Tongue tie, oral thrush and now this. Feeding is painful again and now I feel like I've got the flu too and am running a temp. Have been in bed all afternoon. And sis is here visiting too

octo DO EXPRESS from the sore boob. Hand if you can't bear the pump. I think I've got mastitis because I wasn't doing it enough and trying to rest the nipple to heal.

Sorry not to catch up properly. Am feeling lousy.

Hope everyone's ok xxx

Pinions · 14/05/2007 20:58

Eca i'm feeling pants about bf too.......

ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 20:58

eca

just checking but did you know the temp and flu symptoms are related to the mastitus?

Hi ladies.

Oogs, you sound at the end of your tether hun. You are doing an almighty job.

Tili, lovely to see you back on here. It is hellish isn't it managing 2!

How is everyone else managing 2 or more? Are you bathing them together?
B and K are not alligned at all!

Pinions, don't envy you or any of those with dh's away or working all hours.

Dh is away this Wednesday night, and Wednesday is the day I have the 2 of them all day. Absolutely dreading it. I could go and stay with my parents, but it is more of a hassle packing stuff up for 2 kids for just one night, and I never sleep well at other people's houses.

I hate the evenings I have to say.

Bathed K at 6.30, bottle at 6.45 and in her basket in her room at 7.20 - result - NOT! Woke up again at 8.00 ish grizzling, so dh brought her down here. Now making out she is starving again. Dh has taken her for a walk in the pushchair to put her off for a while. How can she still be hungry after having a 4oz bottle 2 hours ago??? She usually goes 3 or 4 hours during the day, why can't she do the same in the evening????!!!!

I am going to head to bed soon I think. Not sure what sort of night be ahead of me.

Hope everyone is ok, and not suffering too badly with various ailments.

Lots of love to you all. xx

Pinions · 14/05/2007 21:00

OMG!!!

Bramshott · 14/05/2007 21:00

I think mammyjo got her miracle blanket in Mothercare.

I am startingbto get tough with the crying here - last night just put her in bed, lights off, and then lay there listening to the yelling for what felt like ages, but was probably only 20 mins, DD1 didn't wake up, and DD2 did settle in the end.
i was feeling very smug 20 mins ago as DD1 is asleep upstairs, and Orla was asleep in her bouncy chair in then kitchen, having gone off after yelling while I was cooking. However, O is now awake and feeding rather fretfully. Wonder if the real reason might be tiredness, but I haven't really started putting her down in the evenings yet.

Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/05/2007 21:02

Oh eca you poor love. You are really having a pants time. A heartfelt hug to you sweetheart.

ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 21:04

ooooh, oooggs and pinions, if your dp/dh does shifts, does that mean they wear ......

uniforms

OP posts:
eca · 14/05/2007 21:07

ellen - yeh, i did know. I'd gone for a sleep late morning and woke up shivering etc and realised it might be mastitus, then checked boob and huge red patch, hot and painful.

Pinions - it's hard isn't it? I'm dreading the night shift tonight. Pain is bad enough in the day, but everything seems worse at night.

As every mn is fantastic though. It turns out that the dodgy antibiotics the doc gave me last sat are the right ones for this, so have started taking them already. Just hope it clears things up fast. Doc said could be 72hrs before I feel better

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

eca · 14/05/2007 21:08

thanks for the virtual hig SOKL! The support on here really helps.

ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 21:12

oh well Eca, at least the dodgy doc proved useful in the end

OP posts:
Bramshott · 14/05/2007 21:15

SOKL - not bathing together here yet, am feeling a bit daunted by the logistics! Might start putting Orla to bed at a reasonable hour soon rather than keeping her up until I go to bed. I am planning to bath Orla first, then Niamh, then string Orla out while I put Niamh to bed, then feed Orla and put her to bed afterwards. I'll let you know how it goes . . . Probably won't start until O is 8 weeks though.

Pinions · 14/05/2007 21:19

Eca - sorry to hear you are feeling even worse than i am. I have just about had it with bf cos i think the thrust is making a comeback, apparently it never really goes while bf. Did you read the bullying bf link i just posted quite interesting!

Am gonna persevere but have to say worried that they put on more weight with ff.

and ellie - sorry to disappoint u but no uniform! DP has just walked in and asked him to post a reply but he was scared off, bless.

ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 21:22

i am that dp was scared of me

not an unusual reaction tho

OP posts:
ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 21:28

OP posts:
Pinions · 14/05/2007 21:31

Am feeling brave and posted on the BF thread ellie.

ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 21:31

are you mad

OP posts:
Bramshott · 14/05/2007 21:33

Pinions and Eca - sorry to hear you are both having a crap time with the bf. Eca - hope you get the mastitus sorted with the abs soon.

Pinions - what thrush symptoms do you have? With DD1, I was told we had it - she had a white tongue, and I had shooting pains in my breasts, and DD1 was sometimes very fretful feeding. We treated it for months, but in the end, the HV decided we didn't have it . I had the shooting pains early on this time too, and tbh DD2 is sometimes fretful and tricky to latch on, but am fairly sure we don't have it this time. There is some good info on the Breastfeeding Network website - I think it's something you can sort while breastfeeding, with the right treatment. It would be a shame if it put you off feeding when you've come this far.

ellenkpa · 14/05/2007 21:33

i'm not far from giving up bf.
i leak loads and if i don't change the breast pads every 2 hours i get sore nips from the moisture.
and cos i'm on my own i long for a break, but just don't have th opportuunity to express enough for that. have been using the occasional feed of pre-mix aptimil when needed.
