hello MIAST

I cannot believe its 4 weeks today for ernie too - time is just disappearing. Mornings are the worst - I am sure with ds1 I used to sit looking at clock waiting for it to go round and for dh to come home! (ds1 was a little devil as a baby!)

I feel that am being a little self obsessed at the moment and in actual fact am a very lucky lady to have three healthy boys and am very grateful for it.

I had a possessive mad mummy streak in M&S the other day - had ernie in the sling and did some food shopping - at till - everytime I leant over to put something in a bag the lady would touch ernies face - once was okay but not everytime. Then (try not to laugh) - she put the loose brocolli in a seperate plastic bag and I said there was no need and just chuck it in with the rest and she said that there were so many germs going through the checkout it was best to bag it - I nearly shouted at her - THEN DON'T KEEP TOUCHING MY BABY'S FACE FOR GODS SAKE

One of my friends says that bf makes you more mad - I wasn't mad with my first two at all.. Am not depressed at all - tired, grumpy at times and hormonal definitely!

Ooh that was a long post - now really need to play cars!

Bramshott · 14/05/2007 13:56

Back from the shops - have randomly bought some stuff! Orla was asleep so I shopped like a whirlwind!! I got this red top from Monsoon, a white crocheted cardi from M & S (is crochet 'in'?!?), and some wedge sandals from Clarks. Hope they will look okay with my navy linen skirt for this wedding on Sat, although I haven't tried the whole ensemble on together yet. Laughing now as looking at the Monsoon site, all their tops have girls names - there's an Orla, and a Phoebe!

Maveta - I'd hang in there for another few weeks if you can (maybe with Octo's bump band?). Orla is nearly 7 weeks now, and I have got my jeans done up for the first time this morning, so the weight is definitely still coming off.

CD, I can't believe you're going to the zoo already!

EM - good to chat this morning, hope you've taken the painkillers now and can enjoy Emily's birthday.

SOSKL - glad Katie was better yesterday evening.

Pesha - hope you get well soon.

Octo - not mad at all!! What gets me is when people stop you in the street to go "ahh, how lovely" when your baby is screaming blue murder and you are trying to race round town as quickly as possible!

Mammyjo - glad the blanket it still working. Is your feeding going okay now?

Better go, Orla yelling on my lap and loads to do in the next hour before I get Niamh from nursery. Hope everyone is okay - not meaning to leave anyone out with the above, just what I can remember!

Bramshott · 14/05/2007 13:57

Shit, Orla now sleeping on my lap, but I know if I put her down she'll wake up. I have sooooo much to do and have to get Niamh at 3.00. House a tip. Bugger.

liath · 14/05/2007 14:39

Phew, just managed to catch up - we seem to be back to our million posts a day !

Emmy, hope myour hip settles but if it doesn't I'd go back and push for an x-ray as a friend of mine had a very painful hip after giving birth and it turned out to be a problem with the blood supply to the joint which occasionally happens after pregnancy (she's fine BTW - don't want to freak you out or anything!).

Hugs to those in hospital or feeling rubbish.

Maveta - good to "see" you and glad that Noah is a chilled out chap. Ds was at 2 weeks and to give you hope is 4 weeks today and still very laid back (when he's not frantically cluster feeding anyway) Re the tongue tie - my sister's ds had it and apparently she was told it often doesn't cause probs with BF initially but as the baby grow so she only started to have feeding problems a few weeks in. Once it was snipped he was feeding fine again. In fact, he's now feeding so well he's on the 98th centile - I think my sister is breeding prop forwards!!

Anyone else co-sleeping? Have been doing it the last few nights as ds seems more settled in bed with me than in the carrycot but don't want to indefinitely.

Hope the zoo trip went well, CD!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/05/2007 14:39

Hiya ladies.

Lots more posts again. Just a quick one as K about to kick off.

Thanks Octo and EM for the tip off re Reflux. I have read a bit about it, and wonder if that miht be the case. She isn't sick often at all - only if we have overfed her, but she is definitely showing some signs, ie crying in pain when feeding, arching back. And again, it is usually only once a day.

Will mention it to the Community Nurse tomorrow when she comes round.

I just hate feeling dread when K wakes up, and I wonder how she is going to be when I feed her.

Bramshott, good to see you, and hope you managed to put Orla down without waking her!!

Big waves and hugs to everyone. xx

Bramshott · 14/05/2007 14:59

Hurrah - I did manage to get her down without her waking up, so I have loaded dishwasher, filled log basket, sorted washing, got out fish for dinner to defrost, and tried on the outfit for Sat. Not sure I like the outfit though - especially the white crochet cardigan which I'm sure DH will hate, and I'm not sure is exactly me . .

Katy44 · 14/05/2007 15:24

Pesha, hope you're OK and back home soon xx
Yvie hasn't been on for ages, hope she's OK.

maveta · 14/05/2007 15:29

Hi Girls, yes I think you´re right re. the bump bands and waiting a bit longer to see if the weight does come off. I´ve got a couple so I´ll have a bit of a fashion show for myself later on and see if it works (thanks for the offer though Octo x)

Liath - he sleeps in a moses basket right next to my side of the bed and is fine in there but we normally end up keeping him in with us after his night feed if he has trouble settling. Often he will go out like a light on top of dh´s chest and then dh just puts him in the middle of us. I really like it but I also like that it´s not all the time and the norm is definitely
him in his own bed.

lol octo at your mad moment can i ask what you are taking for the thrush?? am a bit confused at how the doc has me putting oral cream on my nipples??

oooggs · 14/05/2007 15:43

Hi all - bugger just about to post and dt's waking up - will be back later - I hope

liath · 14/05/2007 15:44

Ooggs will try and send off that cheque for the pump today or tomorrow, brain like a seive at the moment!

YvieE · 14/05/2007 16:15

Hi Ladies

Reading through this threads posts made me realise how much i missed you guys (is that a bit weird )
And Katie44 how weird is it that you ask about me today and i log on today - are you doing your mystic meg thing again!

I hope all of you and the bubs are ok.
I have been keeping up to date via Ellie's emails I just haven't had a chance to catch up.

Sarai is going to 6 weeks old on Thursday and is 9lbs 6oz already - she has changed so much.
She's BF well, roughly every 2 hours (even through the night)
She hates her moses basket and ends up in bed with me (HV looked at me disapprovingly when i told her this) in fact her favourite place to sleep is on someone - doesn't matter who she does not discriminate.
She hates being top\tailed but loves baths
She loves my breasts but hates bottles and dummies
She likes Jeremy Kyle but is not a fan of Trisha!
I love my baby carrier in times when i need both hands to do things, and have also become quite good at this one handed lark- even typing, oh and showering in under ten mins!
I'm zonked with just one - I don't know how some of you manage with more than one - but it is definitely worth it!

Kneehighinnappies · 14/05/2007 16:18

I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DUMB!!!!!!
I have been waiting for people to talk on the old thread for a whole day now, for some reason everytime I looked at it it didn't register that ellie had started a new thread

And now I have no free time left to catch up. Fuck it!!!

Sexonknackeredlegs · 14/05/2007 16:32

KHIN, pmsl at you you nutcase!!

Hi Yvie, I was wondering about you as well, and Maveta, and low and behold you both appeared!

Yvie, sounds like you are having a fab time with Sarai whih is great.

Bramshott, I hate that whirlwind shopping thing. I love spending money and I hate being rushed!

nuttygirl · 14/05/2007 16:51

Well I have read the thread but Erin woke up and I had to dash so now can't remember anything.

Went to York on Sat (DH's boss said he didn't have to attend on sat cos it was just a breakfast chat kinda thing - nothing formal). It was good but I couldn't find an outfit for the christening. Can't really afford anything too pricey but DH said he'd buy me a dress I liked in Karen Millen (my fave shop)...strangely it fit round my big fat arse (in a 14 - i'm usually a 12) but wouldn't do up round my boobs (which still fit in my normal size bra) . This trend carried on in every shop and I gave up all hope when I tried a Whistles dress on that looked like a tent and it wouldn't go over my head . So I think it's gonna be maternity trousers and a nice top.

nuttygirl · 14/05/2007 18:09

Pesha - Really hope you're better soon.

EM - hope your hip is feeling better today.

CD - not surprised you're feeling overwhelmed! It always seems like you never stop - you're always jetting about (wish I had so much fun maybe that should say energy!).

SOKL - Hope the community nurse can help with K.

We found Erin was getting very windy (burps and farts) and was crying out in pain during feeds...found a thread on another website with someone saying her LO had this with the new SMA gold formula. That's what Erin has had the last few days so think it might be that. Have changed onto Aptimil today and she's taken more feed than usual. Hopefully that'll sort it.

I seem to have made the fatal error of letting Erin fall asleep on the sofa. Hope she doesn't wake when I move her!

mammyjo · 14/05/2007 18:22

Hi Nutty, nothing wrong with maternity trousers and a nice top. At least you will feel comfortable. Just make sure you hold your dh to the offer of the Karen Millen dress at a later date! It is soul destroying to keep trying on things and nothing fits though isnt it. Know what thats like!

Bramshott, thanks for asking about the feeding. Yes, everything just seemed to settle down and I am still breast feeding without too much trouble which I am really pleased about. I havent expressed at all though, dont quite know how to fit that in between 2 hourly feeds during the day!

Tili · 14/05/2007 19:20

hi all.

just a quick one to let you know that I am still around havent had any time to logon.

I hope everyone is well as i havent been able to read the thread.

All is well here trying to get into a routine at the moment which is proving difficult as DH works different times each day but I am slowly getting there I really didnt think this mum of two stuff through !! lol

Alex is doing really well although the poor mite suffers from terrible wind - like father like son!! and is persecuted by his big sister she just cant get enough of him!! otherwise he is a pretty chilled out little dude.

anyway better go Beth needs to go to bed.

take care all xxx

LesleyR · 14/05/2007 19:31

Hello

DH is changing George and singing a daft song in th other room This'll probably be a short one as he's v grumpy today and will probably want a boob any minute.

Went to a PN group today and George was the youngest baby there by about 6 weeks. All other mummys seemed to know each other really well, but were pretty friendly. Going to try and keep it up as I'm feeling a bit isolated at the mo as I have no friends with babies and all family are 100 miles away!

As predicted G is now screaming. Hope to get on again soon.

Hope you and LOs are all well.

oooggs · 14/05/2007 19:42

khin - please explain your dt's bedtime to me how do you do it, milk, wind then lie in cot together and leave them????

I have no idea, how long do you leave them if they are crying?

Help, we still have problems with ds to this day and won't go to sleep on his own. Can't afford to make same mistakes again.

Anyone can give me ideas on this

Jack drank 6 oz of milk then threw up 12 oz over me and sofa

octo · 14/05/2007 20:01

ooggs and khin - I really don't know how you do it! ooggs - I leave ernie for 10 mins when I know he is fed, changed, cuddled and yawning away - I have always felt they need to learn to fall asleep. If not I go back in cuddle first then offer feed if still crying. It is hard but you know they are okay when you go back in - you pick them up and they gaze into your eyes and start cooing at you! ernie did that at 3am this morning so I went back into our room, gave him to dh and went in spare room! While ernie goes in his cot most of the time, if he won't settle or I am too tired I take him back to bed with me and he snuggles into my arm by my side - very cute and he goes straight back to sleep

Pinions · 14/05/2007 20:36

Hi all. A quite excited cos T has started poking his tongue out and kind of licking his lips in a cute way when wants feeding, first signs of comunication at weeks! And I'm convinced he is trying to smile, but not quite getting there, not just when he's got wind.

Anyway my dilema now is stretchmarks...so who's got them and where? This time around have been left with them all over my tummy, i didn't have any with ds1.

Do you think that ANY of these creams/cures are any good or are they all a load of tripe?

oooggs · 14/05/2007 20:37

They are fed, clean and lying in their cot crying. I go in and they both stop and look at me. I don't want them to wake ds1, I am at my wits end as dh on lates this week.

This is my time, I am tired, I have just found time whilst they are crying to eat and I have bottles to do etc....

I would also like to go to bed within the hour to be able to survive tomorrow when ds1 is home all day.

JACK, ERIN PLEASE GO TO SLEEP

oooggs · 14/05/2007 20:39

Stretch marks!!!!!!!!!!!! my tummy dips in the middle due to stretch marks and shot through stomach muscles.

You can pick a piece of tummy skin and it stretches at least 4cm and is really wrinkly. But then I was the size of the goodyear blimp

Pinions · 14/05/2007 20:44

OK oogs glad to hear i am not alone .

AND as for dh mine too is on lates this week and today was the first day i have had to "cope". Back at 9pm.

Ds1 bathed and in bed by 7, t is lying here next to me grizzling, closing eyes for 10 mins then waking up. I know exactly what u mean about not making the same mistakes, but there is only so much u can do to let them fall asleep by themselves, i think some babies just like to held more than others and some are happy just to be left to it?
I know its infuriating cos it is the same in this house .

Pinions · 14/05/2007 20:45

But i only have one to contend with.
