OMG - I need to wise up. Have just had £140 of shopping delivered and there was no meat in with that, becuase we got a freezer full of meat at Costco last week. I can't believe you can do two weeks food for £80. My lot will prob do two weeks, with a stock up on fresh veg in between. It's all the feckin' "finest" juices and bottles of Appletiser. It really racks up. Oh, acutally, I bought giant 5L washing liquid/ softener/ wash up so that made it dearer... Still... I need to get out more.
Re: Hiccups. Echo what BB said - it's a tight/ immature diaphragm that causes them. A gets them a lot less since the last Osteo visit, though still gets them when stressed/ overtired. Best you can do is to keep them calm and relaxed when feeding and hope for the best. A gets them when she's been crying though.
Cam - I don't know how you sound so calm. I would be up the (sodden) walls if that happened to me. Hope you get your water back soon.
I'm reading Baby Whisperer. I really like it. A doing the EASY Eat/ Activity/ Sleep thing quite well in the mornings and goes straight back to sleep at night after feeds for me. She's being going a bit bonkers early eves to about midnight the last few days though. Suddenly dawned on me last night that I haven't been following my own advice to SOH and have not been eating properly. Just been eating cereal and picking during the day. Had a big (healthy-ish) late lunch stuff up at 3.30 today so hopefully breastmilk will be better quality this evening and A will be happier. I even noticed last ngiht that my boobs weren't even feeling "full". Silly Mammy. I've been eating dinner at around 8.30 or 9 each night so makes sense that about 3 hours later she settles. We'll see tonight if my theory is correct.
A "played" with her baby gym today for the first time - rather than just looking startled by it. I was so chuffed. I lay her under it after a feed, even though she was asleep. She woke up a couple of minutes later and had a play and bashed a few things and was quite happy for ages. Awww.
Mrs JB - sounds like you're doing fabulously with the feeding. It would make a lot of sense that you and she are bf better now that you're more relaxed. If you're tense and worried you might not 'let down' properly. Well done for your perseverence. (Sp? Brain dead this afternoon).
Hmm, just caught up the whole thread there and forgotten half the stuff I was going to respond to.
Oh, Juicy - congratulations. That's brilliant you're getting so much support with the feeding.
Befnal - I think you are the winding/ burping queen! (In the nicest possible way.) You are a mine of information. The stuff you've been writing has been really helpful.
Suppose I'd better make some dinner whilst my little caterpillar is asleep. (I think she looks like a bug when she's all swaddled up. ) I've lost all inspiration though. HOnestly, I can't even remember what I used to make for dinners before she was born. I have all these chicken breasts and pork chops in the freezer and I can't think of anything to do with them. Booorrriinngg.
Talk later. x
