Thought i would start the offical May 2007 thread as it is May and we have now had our first offical May baby - even though we have 6 naughty babies who queue jumped and arrived in April .

Probably be a while before there are many messages but a least we have a thread now

Afternoon All

Well my little vampire has sucked me dry! My lovely bigger, firmer boobs are no more! In there place lie smaller, jelly like things. She fed SO much yesterday, 3 feeds in a row at one point Literally fed her, then 5/10 minutes later she went for another feed, I mean my god! It also meant that last night she was a little devil and was waking up every 1/2 hours for a feed so I am feeling slightly on the less happy, more grumpy side of things today.

My older sisters coming up tonight though and I can't wait to see her, it does however mean that Lottie will be snatched from me all w/e, grudgingly getting given back to me for her feeds My family are all just so in love with her, it's very sweet but I'm starting to feel a wee bit forgotten about. My mum is impossible to talk to when around C, I'll say something and just get ignored. Now that I'm getting better and able to walk I feel like nobody really pays me any attention, but I still feel like I've been hit by a bloody truck and still need a hand every now and then. They are so good with C and help loads with her but I just feel like I need some help with me too sometimes iykwim? But then I feel awful for thinking these things! I'm probably just hormona, or does anybody else feel like this sometimes?

Pebblemum · 01/06/2007 14:18

LWatkins I know what you mean about feeling neglected, everyone makes a fuss of the baby and forget about us poor mothers. Even when they do ask after us you just know they dont really want to know they are just doing it to be polite and before you get chance to answer they have moved on to talking about the baby

Sometimes it would be nice if someone paid us the same attention but unfortunately we arent as cute as a baby

My dh did pay me a compliment yesterday which made me feel happy for all of 2 seconds. He said my bum wasnt as big now id had Alana but then he said 'shame about the wobbly belly' before laughing his head off. Men!!!

We have now been signed off by the midwife! Alana is now 7lb 2oz so she has gained 2oz in 4 days which isnt bad and its only 1oz less than her birth weight.

BefnalBub · 01/06/2007 16:32

Hi all, just popping in - find myself jumping between the two threads these days, can't believe the others are having the rudeness to lag into June! (I secretly wanted a June birthday for my lo so am inordinately jealous...also found JL and JW's bumps really cute at the last lunch and had bump envy...incredible).

Just wanted to point out this thread for farty breastfed babies - there are a couple of good tips on it - tried them today and they worked (although it is not pleasant encouraging them to fart at you with the nappy off, they seem to enjoy it!)

glad to see some of you are getting some sleep - L seems to be sticking to just the one night feed which is great... though now my DP has gone back to work, i'm not looking forward to having to get up and change her nappy too .

xx

Pebblemum · 01/06/2007 17:29

Great thread. I just thoought i just had a very farty baby lol (runs in the family ). Glad to hear its normal!!!

Alana does great burps too, 2mins after being born she did an enormous belch that any man would be proud of and that was before i had fed her!!

Lupins71 · 01/06/2007 17:36

lol at farty babies

just wanted to say my little guy is sooooo squdy and cute and i love him sooooo much, it is still amazing that i made him

twelveyeargap · 01/06/2007 19:05

Hello, hello. Can I join please?

Birth Story Here It's a long one!

Will try to catch up on this thread. Had read most of it up to Tuesday I think.

All well here, though am finding the baby is VERY hungry indeed and genuinely am feeding her for hours until she gets fed up and carries on crying anyway. Midwife checked and said she's latching correctly, so am persevering in the main. Was so, so tired last night that I ended up sending DH to the 24 hour Tesco at midnight for formula and have "topped up" a couple of breastfeeds with just an ounce or so of formula which seems to at least get her off to sleep for a couple of hours. (And made me sob with misery at "giving in".) Praying for milk to come in soon in the hope that she gets satisfied before getting overtired feeding so long.

Really I should be in bed whilst she's sleeping... Might head off there now. Hopefully will be back on here tomorrow.

Love to all.

cameroonmama · 01/06/2007 19:30

love the farty baby thread BB!

TYG i have posted on your announcement thread, but am still quite overwhelmed by your lovely lovely story and its quite reassuring that some ladies can get the delivery they hope for. Sorry you are going through that very very tiring bit, A will soon catch up when your milk comes in.. I can't believe how big she is either!

Happy anniversary Pebble, reading all about your dhs makes me realise how lucky I am with mine and I shouldn't moan because he is sooo good and helpful and thoughtful and all he gets from me is a hard time When J was born he bought me a gold ring with three Tanzanites (gorgeous bluey purple stones) one for each of our dc. So sweet.

J has slept for most of the day, only really awake for 2.5 hours this morning and 1.5 this evening, is this the same with all of yours?

BefnalBub · 01/06/2007 19:35

DP finally home from work so I can MN!! want to recommend the baby whisperer - not to follow completely but there are some bits on noticing when your lo is sleepy/hungry/windy and I've found out my angel baby does do a lot of the signals she talks about! Its made me feel a lot more confident and I think L has benefitted too as she gets put down before she gets overtired and fed before she gets overhungry. Also tips on getting them to sleep through the night ....Be prepared that as with the hypnoburping there is some irritating language that needs taking with several pinches of salt.

Now for a yucky question - does anyone else have recurring lochia ie it goes away totally then comes back red (ahem...sometimes when you know you've been overdoing it eg going to ikea). Also burning feeling near womb/bladder when you've nearly finished peeing... sorry to ask but hoping I'm not the only one????

xx

juliewoolie · 01/06/2007 20:03

is this a pre labour thing? I have a headache and feel really weepy?

Lupins71 · 01/06/2007 20:09

BB recccuring lochia is a sign you are overdoing it, go and put your feet up

Welcome TYG off to read your post shortly

Am defenatly getting feeling af is on its way, grrrr

Pebblemum · 01/06/2007 20:17

Cam - wow you are so lucky Alana has hardly slept all day. She doesnt seem to need much sleep during the day but Im not too bothered if it means she settles down easier at night although when i have lots of things to be getting on with I could do with a bit of time to myself in which to get it done. When Alana is awake she likes to be nosey (takes after her mum lol) and doesnt like being left on her own for too long she gets lonely

She started 'talking' earlier, it was so sweet

Befnal you are not alone. For the past couple of days ive been thinking that the bleeding etc has stopped only for it to start again. Today though (day 10) I think it has finally finished, well i hope so anyway. I havent had any pain, burning etc when weeing but now and again ive had strange pains in my stomach, a bit like the afterpains but different IYKWIM. Ive just put it down to my body re-adjusting after the birth.

Has anyone dared to weigh themselves since giving birth? I know im in my normal clothes again but as for how much I weigh i think ive been in denial I was thinking of weighing myself tomorrow in Boots but I dont know if i dare lol.

Mrsjaffabiffa · 01/06/2007 20:24

Could be julie, fingers crossed for you.

bb, I too have the bleeding thing, some days there's lots other days nothing. I can't remember for the life of me how long it lastd after ds and dd but I'm really hoping it will stop soon. 2 weeks 2days post now and I have a lovely new white skirt that I want to wear but probably not a good idea yet, needs a thong with it too. I hate wearing pants!!!
Don't have the dragging burning though, think that may be worth a mention to your MW.

Hope you have a lovely weekend AM, will be thinking of you and Ella on her baby boot camp weekend. hehe.

TYG, it's lovely to have you on here now, come on the rest of you. Jorja fed constantly the first night too. She's working your milk in. Won't be long.

LW, the occassional constant feeds are normal, Jorja seems to do this about once every 4 days or so. I think it's either a growth spurt but could also be a way to increase your milk supply. Babies are very clever at working for what they need. My milk supply is crap this time. No hard boobs here, my nipples get so sore though when she is on one of her i'm going to feed all day days.

Hope everyone is OK.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz have some of those from me, I'm sure we could all do with a few extra ones.

Pebble, happy anniversary. It's ours tommorow 6yrs, and we have only just realised, so no romantic gifts or cars here either.

Oh and I've lost 7lb. Yey, only another 28 to go. lol

JonahB · 01/06/2007 21:03

Can I join in now too? . I realise I'm a month behind some of you, but better late than never!!!

Lupins71 · 01/06/2007 21:47

Welcomr Jonah, good to have you with us,

My bleeding lasteed 2 weeks, not sure if its differant with a cs

Happy anniversary MJB for tomorrow

Pebble well done on being able to get into pre pg clothes, 2 months on and i am still to wobbly - blaming my cs tho on lack of tummy tone lol

elkiedee · 02/06/2007 00:29

Popping in from the April 2007 postnatal thread though baby was actually born in May (due April) with a reminder in case anyone else hasn't realised... this is copied from my posting on that thread.

I've just been researching child/working tax credits as I believe we're entitled to a few pounds a month at least. As, unlike child benefit, no one has reminded me about this, I thought I'd remind everyone else in the UK, particularly the first-timers (it doesn't seem to make as much difference having more children) to check they're claiming anything they're entitled to.

Off back to the govt website to find out if I can make a backdated claim to Danny's birth - it will be over a month by the earliest date I can make my claim now as I have to get a form first. I have started a thread on this and the responses so far are contradictory. If anyone else would find info of help, do let me know - don't know how to link but my thread is in Legal/Money matters.

scootermum · 02/06/2007 07:52

Happy anniversary Mrs JB and belatedly to Lupins and Pebble..
Wonder if Julie is off having her baby..then we will be 5 over on antental..sigh..

aprilmeadow · 02/06/2007 09:11

Belated Happy Anniversary to Pebble.
Happy Anniversary to MrsJB and A.

June is obviously a good month to get married in... My anniversary is on Tuesday and that will be 3 years

Spent most of yesterday with my boss. She took me shopping, bought me tea and cake plus a nice dinner. We didnt get home til 10pm!! Fed Ella and turned off tv at 11.15pm and she slept til 3am then woke again at 6.30am and again at 8.15. Spoken to my boys (dh&ds) this morning as although as woke in the night (due to his gt grandad snoring the house down) he got into bed with dh and slept til 6.40am which is quite a result. Dh is taking him to York Train Museum today and then to the British Touring Car tomorrow.

Going to walk into town later and try and get a tan whilst the sun is out

aprilmeadow · 02/06/2007 20:37

Baby boot camp is in full swing
Evening routine:
Bath at 6.20pm
Dressed by 6.30pm
Feeding at 6.40pm
Put down in bed at 7.10pm
still asleep...... fingers crossed it stays that way until at least 10pm

I so hopew hope that this works, because if it does then dh has to let it continue. We didnt have a set routine for J and as a result he didnt sleep through til 15mths!!

Have spent 2 hours this afternoon and this evening doing the ironing. Now this might not sound that big a deal, but in our house we only iron when we need to . But i have decided that as i am a SAHM now i really should do proper housewifey type things. Dunno know how long this will last, but for now my plan is to iron each load of washing. There i have said it now so i have to do it

Hi all

Not been around for a while as not been too well.

CS scar got an infection then also had a womb infection (possibly caused by a stitch that didn't dissolve and was removed on gynae ward on Tuesday). Lost loads of clots and blood this week but things seem to have slowed down today. Still having what feel like after pains though and Callum is 4 weeks old today! Today they have been fewer though so I am hoping an end is in sight. On antibiotics and have two creams for the scar.

B/f going very well and we are very lucky he is a good baby. DP ended up having 3 weeks off which was nice but pay packet was a bit short this month!

Congrats to all those who have given birth recently.

Thouhts and best wishes to Deejags.

ShowOfHands · 02/06/2007 21:38

Poor dejags, can't stop thinking about little Carys.

I've officially lost the plot today. Mathilda has done nothing but feed all day and she screams blue murder if I latch her off. She's feeding too, not just sucking. I usually put her in her sling to calm her (a coorie) but it's fleece and it's too hot for it. I think it's the heat causing her to feed so much. Can't be another growth spurt, we're only a week out of the last one. Example of how nuts I am today:

I made a cup of tea and left it to brew while I went to pick Mathilda up who had been put down for all of five minutes and started screaming like a banshee. Returned to the kitchen to find that I hadn't put a teabag in the cup, screaming child now positioned over right shoulder and continuing to make a noise that could curdle milk. I thought I'd stave off feeding her again and sing her a song. Unfortunately I am so sleep deprived that I can't remember any songs other than Row Row Row Your Bloody Boat. After the third time singing it and Mathilda is still screeching like a thing possessed I decide that I can't attempt it again without some variation, so I start singing it in as many accents as I can think of. After the sixth attempt at Glaswegian I wandered back to my tea- Mathilda still cawing- and discovered I still hadn't put a teabag in the ruddy thing, the water was cold and my darling daughter wasn't even remotely impressed by her mother's frankly appalling attempts at soothing her. She's a scallywag. I tried sitting on the sofa with her over my shoulder and she wriggled down and tried to latch on through my top.

She's actually asleep now and has been for 45 minutes. I don't know how I'm going to cope with such hot weather and a thirsty baby. Any ideas? On the plus side, she's started smiling. A friend saw her do it today and confirmed it- not wind, proper smiling. And smile she should the amount of food she gets away with eating.
