RGee · 06/05/2007 23:08

Opopps to tyuping sjkills..hic

hattie2 · 06/05/2007 23:19

PSML RGee - not sure about a cup of tea though, I think you need a pint of water and a couple of nurofen ..... let us know how you feel in the morning!

Shimmer · 07/05/2007 02:45

RGee. Hope you're not feeling too rough in the morning.

Just a quick post now as I'm busy packing while F's asleep. We're flying back to England tonight So I'll be back on the same time as you all tomorrow (and back on MSN!!) We've been here 3 weeks and it has been great, but I'm also really looking forward to getting back to my own home and... y'know...all my own stuff. And I spose seeing Dp again too

Planning a last swim in the sun for me and F this afternoon before leaving. He's LOVING swimming now so I really must make an effort to take him when we get back. Have any of you been to baby swimming lessons? Rgee I know you've taken LO swimming before, but it wasn't actually a class was it?

Ohhh, I can finally join in the car conversations... we're getting a car! Finally!! Well, it's going to be shared with my brother, but that means he pays for half of it and we get it when he leaves the country next year (long story...) So I need to start looking for a smallish car that is easy to drive and will fit into tiny london parking spaces, but is big enough to fit the buggy and a load of baby gear in the boot. Any suggestions?

theUrbanDryad · 07/05/2007 09:23

Shimmer - hope you have a good journey back to the UK! we've not taken Z to baby swimming lessons as they are exceptionally expensive and i think a it overrated IMHO. i think the lessons aren't for developing confidence for the aby but for the parents, so if you've been taking swimming already, and he enjoys it, and you're not anxious about it, i wouldn't bother with the lessons. have you dunked him underwater yet? we swam Zac underwater for the first time on Saturday, i was really worried about it, but Z was fine. he had a look of grim determination on his face the whole time, but he held his breath and we didn't leave him for long!!

as for cars, have you thought about a Ford Focus or something like that? are you going to have to fit the 3 of you in there, or is just you and F? cause i think some of the Smart cars are quite good for city driving.

RGee - let us know how you feel this morning! remember to drink lots of water! where did you go?

Wilkie - i'll catch you on MSN sometime!

what's everyone planning for the B Holiday? we're off to an Open Day at a sailing club as dh wants to get back into it, then i have to help my mum pack up their house as they're having it decorated next week!!

RGee · 07/05/2007 11:18

Hi folks!
Surprisingly don't feel too bad today, just tired. And a bit dry. Luckily DH got up with lo at 7am and I slept until 9.30, and now he's gone back to bed before travelling to the footie after lunch. Had an action packed day yesterday - DH did a run in Halifax which we went to watch, then had some friends over briefly, before heading over to the neighbours for a bbq. Weather wasn't too bad and Pippa was so well behaved once she'd got over the shock of lots of people. She slept like a dream whilst DH and I got steadily more drunk with the neighbours (who have 3 kids).
BTW when our mates were leaving, one of them reached behind a chair and appeared holding a dead mouse by its tail!! It wasn't decomposed but don't know how long it had been there . They have a killer cat so we often swap cat prey stories.

Anyway, enough of me. I'm having a quiet day today. What've you all been up to?

Hope you enjoy the open day today UD.

Shimmer - have a good flight back to blighty. It feels like you've been away for ages! Took lo to the baby pool at our gym once and DH came which made it much easier. The other time my mate hired a hydrotherapy pool so there were only 4 of us plus babies, which was fab. I find the difficulty is getting lo dry and keeping her warm whilst I'm dripping everywhere which is why it was much better when DH was with me. I know there are a number of baby swim classes in Leeds so I may track a couple of them down and check out the prices.

Hi Wilkie - hope you had a good few days away. Are J's cheeks due to teething. Forgot to mention but Pippa is teething at the mo - there's a tiny white bit peeping through bottom gum. She's struggling with it a bit but bought some of Ashton Kutcher's powder as per all your recommendations. You look lovely in the photo - it is a dead nice dress.

Carrot / LL /Hattie / exercise freaks - we should start a motivational exercise thread. I feel like a blob at the minute and am struggling to get moving today (mild hangover perhaps? Pass the bacon butty please). Spinning v impressive, but sounds a bit too much like hard work!
Is anyone running / walking a Race for Life this year?

2Happy - hope last night was good too.

Right then. I need another glass of water. Catch up later.

Wilkie · 07/05/2007 11:35

Hello peeps.

Shimmer - Safe journey back

RGee - J has a tiny white spot on his bottom gumline at the front but it doesn't look like a tooth to me

Juts realised I haven't had a period for 6 weeks. Should I be worried or has anyone else had this? I've only had sex about 4 times using condoms so surely not......

canmummy · 07/05/2007 17:28

Hi everyone - I'm back! Didn't know I was going away but dh decided to take us, we didn't get very far only about 10 miles away but was fun to go for a swim (although lo hated it as she was overtired by that time) and out for a nice meal last night. We were a bit annoyed as we went to a national trust property and they made us leave our pram outside so had to wake her up to take her in - she wasn't impressed at all and screamed all the way round!

Wilkie - think your periods go a bit loopy after having a baby - are you breastfeeding?

RGee - see you were in my neck of the woods yesterday and I in yours! I've just joined the running club that organises the bluebell trail (assume it was that one your dh did?)

Shimmer - hope your journey isn't too bad!

Lal - spinning is brave! Never usually dare exercise in front of people but off running again tonight so they will all see how unfit I am and how red I go

Must go the house sounds in chaos while I've been reading posts

Dragonhart · 07/05/2007 19:40

Luke has decided that 6.00 is the best time to get up from his big boy bed. I am not impressed. I know I have been spoilt with him sleeping into 7.30-8 since he was about 8 months but still. Not impressed.

Rgee and Canmummy, my uncle lives in Halifax! Small world.

Dragonhart · 07/05/2007 19:44

Oh and the climbing frame is on its way!!!! Should be here by thursday. Sooooo excited. Bet Luke never plays on it now though!

Galmum · 07/05/2007 20:35

Hellooo {{{waves}}}}

Welcome new ladies!

House purchase progressing but taking up potential MN time!

Trying to keep up with you all is tough - seemed to be long conversations about poo!!

Congrats to Mrs Carrotcake - I hope you had a fab time at Ickworth - it's an amazing place.

Jemima (now 16 weeks) is being a little star and sleeping well - last night was 7 to 7!! She probably goes through 2 nights a week and wakes around 4ish on the others - I can't believe what a good sleeper she is! However she managed to wake at midnight on my first night out for our 5th wedding anniversary and then stayed up till 3pm - how do they know you had an eve out?? - she has n't done that since about 6 weeks!!

DH - I'd be excited about the climbing frame too!!

Urban Dryad - how did picnic go?

Managed to get LO into central London to visit my son's wonderful nurse at Great Ormond St and take Jemima on the ward. Had to bf in cafe downstairs and was feeling self conscious - WTF!! - I was bf in a children's hospital - where is my brain??

Anyone else seriously broody?

laughalot · 07/05/2007 21:30

Dont have much to say only feel like someone has kicked me between the legs oh well no sex what a big shame .

MrsCarrot · 07/05/2007 21:40

Hello, Galmum, yes, Ickworth was sooo nice and relaxing, dropping kids off in the playareas (not lo, we swapped with him), having drinks on the terrace before treatments, cycling round the estate with a picnic collected from reception, empty pool every day, lazy ten am breakfasts, gorgeous dinners, an eight foot bed, I could go on, and on! Midweek breaks aren't much more than centreparks either. Sigh, it was lovely, amazing weather. Back to the old drudgery now though

Laughalot, why the aches, periods?

Hope Max is OK PCF, I'm sure babies are a lot more resilient than we think they are. And many happy returns for tomorrow, have a great day

LL - are the aches and pains an after effect of spinning? If so, only another dozen or so classes and you'll get used to it

A v dull bank holiday here; went to shops, got soaking wet on the way home, watched the rain for the rest of the afternoon .....

RGee · 08/05/2007 08:16

Hi all.

Happy Birthday PCF!! Hope you have a great day.

Hattie - I find the May Day bh the dullest by miles. We never do anything and the weather's always crap! Do Morris dancers and maypoles still exist?

Mrs Carrot - sounds lovely!!

Hi Galmum. Glad you're still dropping in. Where you up to in the house hunting? Have you found somewhere yet? Pleased your visit to GOSH went well.

Dragon - are we all coming over to yours on Thursday then

Canumummy - yes it was the bluebell trail. And apparently there were shed loads of bluebells out and was lovely. And the river wasn't too high and fast flowing at the end so he didn't get too wet. And then. And then...Were you not doing it? I watched it from my mates housse at the top of a steep cobbled street, and only the first three people ran up the hill! Seems like a tough race. It was Dh's worse 10 miler by over 20 minutes (although he was running it with a friend).

Wilkie - this white spot thing. Tooth or not tooth that is the question.

UD - hope packing up a house wasn't too taxing yesterday!

LL - hope you're not aching too much today.

Shimmer - you back yet? Jet lag??

EAH / Lizz /Nemo / Jodie / LTH / newbies - where've you been this BH weekend? Out having fun? I'm outraged!!

ellieandhattie · 08/05/2007 08:18

Happy birthday PCF

Well boring day yesterday DH worked so popped up to see my mum and dad and went into town and got a lampshade/blind for Hatties bedroom and the rest of her bedroom stuff arrving this afternoon, cant wait to get decorating.

Pre school this morning although doesnt look like its going to go well as I got her school t-shirt out and she started crying its only for an hour today and I have promised we'll make brownies when I collect her so fingers crossed.

Laughalot - serves you right for being healthy

Galmum - good luck with house

Dragonhart - am sure Luke will love his climbing frame (do you have to put it together or does it come ready made?)

right better get a move on

canmummy · 08/05/2007 09:32

Good morning! It's horrible here, raining and cold what happened to all that nice weather?

EAH - hope pre-school goes ok it must be awful for you to leave her upset

RGee - me run it?! You're having a laugh! I went out for a run with the club last night (only my 3rd time) and ache so much this morning I couldn't even pick lo up off the floor where dh had left her! But I felt really good at having managed it we did 4.5 miles and a couple of hills as well

Pcf - happy birthday! Sounds like you've got a lovely day planned

Mrscarrot - sounds like you had a lovely time - I want to go now!!

Galmum - what is it about them sleeping? They seriously know when you want them to sleep and wake up even more don't they?

LAL - if the pain's from spinning remind me never to give it a go!!

Dragon - lets hope the weather changes by Thursday (although a bit of rain never stops my older 2 from playing out they just love getting covered in mud and walking it through the house......... )

Dragonhart · 08/05/2007 09:35

Yes EAH, we have to put it together so it may be afew weeks before we actually get around to it. DH said we should leave it until after Ruth's christening so that there is more room in the garden (we are hoping to have it at our tiny house ) but I know that I will not be able to wait!

Hope preschool goes/is going well too EAH. Can I have a brownie?!

Dragonhart · 08/05/2007 09:44

Galmum, glad the visit went well and no, not broody yet but DH is! Talk about roll reversal! He said this weekend that we should start trying for another soon. I want a bit of a rest this time though as having 17months between them and havinga cs mean I am only just starting to feel normal again!

Taking of which, can I ask a question of those who had cs. Do you think it is normal to have a bit of skin below my tummy button that is totally numb? About 10cm squared. Not numb underneath, just the skin. Also it still feels a bit bruised. Sometimes when I am winding Ruth, she kicks out and it hurts, even though she is not doing it that hard. Just wondered if I should go to the docs?

Pink- Luke has fallen on/hit/kicked/troden on and poked Ruth in the eye. I have felt sick every time he does it but she seems ok (apart from the twitch! ) Think they are tough little things! Hope M is ok today. And HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

hattie2 · 08/05/2007 10:18

DH - is it the TP climbing frame from ELC that you bought? If so, read ALL the instructions before starting to put it together (especially if you've got the platforma and the den to go over the top of the frame)!

I put one together at my Mums and made the mistake of putting together the frame, then turned the page to read 'If you have the platform, follow these instructions instead ....'. So took it apart, put it back together with the platform on only to turn the next page to read 'If you have the platform and the den, follow these instructions ....'!! [stupid emoticon]

MrsCarrot · 08/05/2007 10:24

Happy birthday pcf, hope you have a lovely day

Dragon, I think that's normal, I still have numb patches from dd and she's 5 now. Check with your gp if you're worried but I think the bruising lasts a while, and you'd probably have other symptoms if it was an infection. does your belly hang over the scar? actually don't tell me if it doesn't or I will be I don't think my overhang is going anywhere now!

Morning to everyone else

RGee · 08/05/2007 10:46

Dragon - I too have a very numb area above scar but below belly button. Doesn't feel bruised though.

Wilkie · 08/05/2007 10:51

Morning.

PCF - HAPPY BIRTHDAY - what did you get?

Hattie - PMSL at your climbing frame antics. But v impressed you erected (snigger) it yourself

DH - 17 months between your LO's hat's off to you lady

Canmummy - how're you doing? Weather is shite here too. Raining

RGee - you spend so much time doing personals that you forgot to mention how you're doing

EAH - chuck us a brownie please

MrsCarrot - the comedown after your wedding is SO horrible Back to reality...

2Happy - how's DS1 doing in his big boys bed? Still going OK?

Laughalot - LOL, hmmm, maybe I will take up swimming. What a great excuse 'Not to night dear, my fanjo aches '

Sorry if I have missed anyone else

Had a nightmare night cos J has a cold and chesty cough so was up from 2am-4am really coughing. I put Karvol on his bedding and gave him a drink of orange and water, he sounds like his throat is sore - his cry is hoarse IYSWIM. DH and I both have similar things, just hoping it clears up soon. Can you get cough medicine for LOs?

He is so cute ATM. He can hold this big pyramid rattle thing we have with both hands and EVERYTHING has to go in his mouth.

He had some banana and babyrice this morning which he nom nomed up!!

Have switched from Tesco to Pampers nappies as the Tesco 3's kept leaking. I bought 102 Pampers 3's for £9 from Asda - BARGAIN!!

Dragonhart · 08/05/2007 11:30

Glad I am not the only one with a numb tum then! And yes Carrot, massive overhang here too!

Hattie, was going to buy the den but it was out of stock. Does that mean I will have to wait til I get that or dismantle it when I get it if I do build it?
