Hooray for DS1 2Happy , 13 hours is fantastic! Fingers crossed for tonight for you.

As for that Katie on the Apprentice, she is driving me mad! I find myself screaming at the tv everytime she appears. I think Adam is OK if a bit of a non-event (would be better if he could clear up some of those spots from his forehead though!). I used to hate Tre but he's growing on me, PMSL when he said he could "bullshit in any language" and just started talking with a very bad french accent.

Just checked the news websites and still no progress on finding that poor little girl . I just can't bear to think about it. DH and I were talking about it last night and we used a listening service when we took dd skiing last year. Even though we never left the hotel, our room was just off the entrance hall of the hotel so anyone could have walked in there without even being seen by reception staff - certainly won't be doing that again.

laughalot · 05/05/2007 12:56

Yep not good about the little girl we are going to portugal in september it does make you think however how silly off them to leave them its not even as if they were clampits they are very well to do people. Mark warner holidays are very expensive to lets hope and pray they find the little girl alive and well.

We are off to mum and dads today for a meal its my dads birthday so mil is having the kids .

Have a good weekend

Hi Callie, your story sounds very similar to mine except my LO was born at 36 weeks. Its a bit of a shock isn't it !

What are you doing regards weaning ? I'd always planned on exclusively BF up to 26 weeks, but for the last couple of days he's been having a feeding frenzy and needing a feed every couple of hours (day and night )so maybe he's ready for something sooner, but is he 19 or 15 weeks ? and is his gut ready ? I really want to wait a bit more as DS1 was diagnosed with tummy migrane (ie belly ache) a year or so ago which may have been caused by early weaning

and now I find out that the who guidelines dont apply to prem babies, and that prem babies should be weaned earlier because they didnt build up their iron stores fully when in the womb. Oh, its all so complicated, I think I'll speak to my HV on tuesday and get some more conflicting advice

Terribly sad about the toddler. Must admit its not something I've ever done, I wont even let my older ones camp out in the garden without me, just in case.

Am feeling very satisfied now as I've planted out all my veg in the garden. Time to sit back and relax, but is 3 o clock too early for a glass of wine (by myself dh playing golf)

Kat, when they have a feeding frenzy like that for a few days, when they were previously satisfied, they're often changing the milk supply. I would wait and see if it settles down, it's such a relief when they feed again and fall asleep full, lasting a long time between. Maybe ask your HV if it doesn't settle though, I'm not sure about iron with prem babies but the body is very clever.

MrsCarrot · 05/05/2007 17:07

I hope that didn't sound patronising...

katwith3kittens · 05/05/2007 17:57

Nope... not at all.

Wilkie · 05/05/2007 19:45

Hello all.

I have skim read the posts so not really up to do personals cos I am going to have tea in a bit but will try to catch up more thoroughly later.

MrsCarrot - you look amazing, absolutely stunning. I am so glad you had a lovely day.

We went to the wedding yesterday and it was OK, not brilliant, there wasn't much of an atmosphere and no matter how hard I tried, I just could not get drunk - DH however.....is another story , you know your DH is drunk when a random woman comes up to you in the toilet and says 'Is that your husband on the dance floor with a green and blue striped tie........?? He's very drunk...' Bless.

Have uploaded a pic of us pre-drunk DH for nosy EAH and anyone else that wants a peek.

Right, off to nosh, be back in a bit.

Dragonhart · 05/05/2007 20:00

Well, I ve been busy in the garden for the last few nights so no time to log on. I was so busy yesterday, firstly getting ready to go to get Ruth her injections, they my dozy brother forgot to come and pick us up (woman on the recpetion said we will have to 'go to the back of the queue' and wait 5 weeks ). Was worried at first but I suppose that she has already had the first couple so hopefully all will be well.

Then walked to the library with Luke and Ruth, which is a 30min walk each way (did it to try and shift some of the flab!) then dug some of the front out for an hour before tea, then finished it off from 7 til 9.30 just before it got dark! I was so knackered when I finished but DH laid the turf today and it looks great! Lesson is not to leave it for a year then there wont be so many weeds!

Carrot- gorgeous pics carrot. You look amazing

Callienewmum, welcome. Glad lo is doing well after a hard start for both of you.

2happy congratulations on the great night. Will cross my fingers for you for tonight. Luke keeps waking up at about 4 crying and when I go in he is sat on a sofa bed that is in his room saying 'oh dear, oh dear' and looking totally confused! Think it is the woman next door waking him up when she goes to bed at 4 after watching tv all night. THink she must be an insomniac (sp?) or something!

Dragonhart · 05/05/2007 20:02

BTW the bugs have eaten me up!! I have over 50 bites that are red and lumpy (very attractive ). Anyone got any recomendations for bites (other than out of date sting spray or calomine lotion (yuck!)

Wilkie · 05/05/2007 20:22

DH - saliva is good for bites - spit on your finger and rub it on them. It contains some kind of chemical that helps reduce the itchiness

MrsCarrot · 06/05/2007 08:42

Vinegar too, Dragon, often takes the itch out of them.

Wilkie, you look pretty gorgeous in your picture too, what a lovely dress. Where's it from?

theUrbanDryad · 06/05/2007 09:11

i like that dress too Wilkie...not sure it would suit me though!!

well we have managed to get a car, it's a Renault Scenic and has masses of boot space. the only thing is, it's an automatic and when i test drove it i kept going for the clutch. oh well, hopefully i'll break the gears habit soon.

we went out to a party last night and my mum had Z over at her house. he won't sleep in the crib there anymore cause he's too big, so he ended up in my dad's bed! he sparked out at about 8, and when we went to pick him up at 11 he woke up a tiny bit and looked very grumpy. i gave him a feed to settle him though and he slept till half 6 this morning, then went back down till half 8! result!

well we're off for a meal today, tis my dad's birthday this weekend so we're going out with mum, dad, brother and sil for a big fat roast at the Toby. nom nom...

2Happy - well done ds1!! now you need to do big treats today. do something he really likes. when we got dgs to sleep in his big bed the whole night (i think that was for 5 nights on the trot though) we went to see Thomas at the Lamport railway.

anyway, must go, i can hear dh trying to make Z roll from his back to his front unaided. think he may be taunting him with his cuddly fish

Dragonhart · 06/05/2007 10:30

Thanks for the anti-itchy tips. Spit really did work last night. Will try he vinegar if it gets bad today but a bit worried about smelling like fish and chips!

Well, dh has lost his wedding ring I saw it on his finger ;last night before putting Luke to bed buut after that he laid the turf at the back! So we might be spending today using a metal detector in the back garden

Lizzzombie · 06/05/2007 11:50

Mrs Carrott - you look so glam, many congratulations!

Well - everyone who has been having car problems I have to reluctantly join your gang. I could go into great details about what happend but it would involve a lot of tooing and frooing. Basically, kwik fit broke our exhaust pipe after saying it was safe to drive & it totally wasnt. Luckily it fell off as DP was parking outside the flat, and not when we were driving down the motorway. So, we are still in Brighton & not in Wales.
poo.

laughalot · 06/05/2007 14:06

Wilkie you are a little slim jim aswell and im loving the dress wish something like that would suit me.

Dragon pmsl at you with the spit tips from wilks.

Lizz sorry to hear about the car problems

laughalot · 06/05/2007 19:05

Oh my god spinning has about killed me dh couldnt stop laughaing when I got in the car he described me as looking like a beetroot. He asked aidan to tell him what colour mummies face was aidan said red !!!

theUrbanDryad · 06/05/2007 19:50

laughalot - my friend from my rl antenatal class went to a spinning class the other day and she was exactly the same! bright red in the face!!

MrsCarrot · 06/05/2007 20:34

what is this spinning?

ellieandhattie · 06/05/2007 20:45

I have only ever done one class and couldnt keep up and felt like I was going to die for days after so WELL DONE laughalot I am admiring you tonight (whilst looking at butterfly bedding on next website and munching a chinese )

ellieandhattie · 06/05/2007 20:46

mrscarrot - its like riding a bike but the wheels are fixed like air fan things.
Theres music and lights etc (disco feeling) and I cant really remember but it bloody kills you

MrsCarrot · 06/05/2007 21:11

Oh, sounds very energetic, EaH! Lights and music? I am drinking wine and eating choc dipped florentines . In a week my friend is back and we are starting running again. [grammer?] Years since I've done that. Trouble is I seem to be overeating and thinking it's fine as I'll run it off soon

hattie2 · 06/05/2007 21:13

Well done laughalot! Spinning is a killer, I used to do it before getting pg and am in no hurry to get back to it now!

MrsCarrot · 06/05/2007 21:15

How come everyone has heard of this except me? I've obviously been in some exercise box.

Wilkie · 06/05/2007 21:55

LL - go girl you crazy crazy lady!!! I used to do Body Combat which is kickboxing to music and is absolutely exhausting.

Was playing with my twin neices in mum's garden yesterday - flying them around like aeroplanes round the garden. I was BLOODY knackered and SO unfit.

MrsCarrot - my dress was from Monsoon. I felt like a little princess and it will do for the three weddings I have this year The shoes cost me £16 and the bag £4 from BHS - BARGAIN!!!

Jacob has bright red hot cheeks at the mo. I took his temperature and it is 36.4 so not hight at all. Hmm. Gave him some Calpol to try and settle him.

He has been a little muncher and took a 9oz bottle at 11am!!! He also had his first taste of carrot. Nom nom.
