You are very kind, laughalot, but that picture is deceiving, maybe that's why I like it
I crept under 12 stone just before the wedding but with all the feasting and drinking, it's ticking back over again . At the party on Saturday I drank so much champagne I danced till 4am (it's been a while!), completely buggered my dress and was sick in the morning. And, yes, ahem, I'm still breastfeeding , he seems ok though, slept well . I think I've gone a bit emoticon happy again this morning!

MrsCarrot · 04/05/2007 09:46

and my mum did the corset up so tight I coud hardly breathe..

theUrbanDryad · 04/05/2007 10:07

aww Carrot your pics are lovely!! my dress had to be a bit free flow to hide a multitude of sins (mainly pies but also 20-week bump!!)....oh, and if it makes you feel better, i had 3 JD and cherry cokes last night (mmm) and Z is fine. my Nappy Lady mate, who is also training to be a bf-ing counsellor says she doesn't think food goes through to your breastmilk, soo i'm taking it on faith that it's the same with alcohol!

well Zac's mad growth spurt seems to be over, he's back to waking only once in the night now, which is bliss. the only thing is my boobs are rock hard because they're used to the demand being up!! i'm making lamb hotpot today with the leftovers from the roast and it smells mmmmyummylicious!

i voted yesterday - fortunately there was a Green candidate so i didn't have to spoil my ballot. we still have a Tory council though. bah. and also, humbug.

anyway, i can't remember who's posted what, except PCF hope you're in a better mood now...i'm on MSN if you fancy a chat!!

take care, have good days! xx

katwith3kittens · 04/05/2007 11:34

Mrs Carrot, you look so happy, glad to hear it all went well

Well LO is 19 weeks today and I think he must be having a growth spurt as I'm having to feed him every hour and a half, and the past 2 nights he's woken after 4 hours. Luckily he goes back to sleep immediately, so I'm not sleep deprived yet but I am constantly starving

Just arranged to get our house valued next wednesday, just out of pure nosyness really, we've been in since new, and dont really think we'll be moving anytime soon, but it could be interesting to find out.

UD, why would you want to spoil your ballot ? only a few generations back we werent considered intelligent enough to have a viewpoint !

Hugely doubtful that the reds will win anything around here, after TB in his infinite widsom decided to ban riding to hounds, and dont even get me started on Iraq .

canmummy · 04/05/2007 11:51

Mrs Carrot you looked gorgeous! I was a guest at a wedding a few weeks ago (dh was best man so a bit too in the limelight for my liking) and felt I looked huge didn't help the bride had a 16-week old baby and looked slim again already

kat good luck with the house valuation we are always checking the local papers for houses but in reality can't be bothered with the hassle of moving. Our aim is not to send our kids to the local secondary school so we've got a few years to think about it yet.

LAL my lo is grumpy today as well after injections yesterday. Had a really crap night with her as well ended up giving calpol at 4am. She also had reflux when she was very tiny with no problems for weeks now but woke up choking at 3am with milk coming down her nose - horrid for both of us

Stopping there for now as my nipple is getting chewed

theUrbanDryad · 04/05/2007 14:00

katwith3 - i spoil my ballot bt writing "I do not endorse any of the above candidates, because the candidates check all the spoiled ballots to make sure there hasn't been any mistakes. that way they see that their policies aren't working. i doubt it makes a difference, but it's better than not turning up at all.

katwith3kittens · 04/05/2007 14:49
Hmm
laughalot · 04/05/2007 15:01

Added a few photos of my kids new buggy, my poor ds after iv clippered his hair, my lovely little lozzie smiling and a baby laughalot picture .

hattie2 · 04/05/2007 16:09

Lovely photos MrsCarrot, you look fab

laughalot - i think you have a new career, the haircut looks great!

Did we ever find out who the Rgee and Wilkie impersonators were, I got very confused. But then us oldies get easily confused.

RGee · 04/05/2007 19:05

Hi all. Quiet here today. Hope you all had a pleasant day, especially you PCF .

LL - at the hospital. Can't believe the lack of basic care and empathy going on. I think it is probably worse for you and DH because of what your fil went through. Hope things improve over the weekend. And I though DS had a lovely hair cut btw.

Carrot - loved that you were sick in the morning!! That'll be a year without alcohol then

UD - is it my imagination or are you always cooking roast. I am so I can smell them from here. "Nom nom"!!! Do you make Yorkshire Puddings to go with them?

Re politics - I am a big TB fan after meeting him at a party at No 10 (look at meeee name dropping a plenty). Although I perhaps drank a little bit too much and got told off for using the 'Prime Minister's' toilet

Kat - still haven't got my magazine yet. You had yours?

Canmummy - am sure that since you joined MN, your lo sleeping habits have gone out of the window. Who has cursed you?

Hattie - do you think the RGeee and Wiilkie perpetrators might be Wilkie and RGee?

Right, well DH gone to footie (via pub, obviously), lo fast asleep, so what to do? I really fancy a drink....

theUrbanDryad · 04/05/2007 19:15

Rgee - go on have a drink!

didn't cook the hot pot in the end as couldn't be arsed. made yummy soup instead and had 2 friends & their babies over. was very nice. nom nom.

CallieNewMum · 04/05/2007 19:32

hello all you January thread people. I've been meaning to drop in for ages and say hello but baby care prevents it happening. I'm a due in March threader who had a BIG surprise on January 8 when DS arrived exactly two months early with no warning - waters breaking at 1am to birth in six hours. He was in special care for five weeks, birth weight 4lb 2oz, but he's now a whomping 12lb 7oz or more - that was last week's weight. It's funny having a premmie because at this stage I never know if I'm dealing with a four month old or a two month old - mostly two month for development but I think four for feeding, so I'm curious as to how all your babies are doing.

Anyway, just wanted to say hello to the other January babies, and hope all your LOs are flourishing. .

ellieandhattie · 04/05/2007 19:45

hello callie > welcome to the mad house

I have been watching the news on and off all day re the 3 year old girl who has gone missing in the algarve then I looked over at Ellie and Hattie having a lunch time nap the sofa together and had tears in my eyes. I am making a very verybig effort to appreciate my inquistive, loud, tantrumming toddler and realised just how much I loved my girls toay, I would kill anyone who touched a hair on their heads. Those poor poor parents regardless of whether they shoul have left their kids it mut be heart wrenching and to know thaat every hour that goes past means its more and more inevitable that she was abducted. Sorry feeling a bit emotional and needed to type that

RGee · 04/05/2007 20:16

Welcome Callie! So are you watching both the Jan and March threads? That must keep you busy Bit scary arriving two months early! Is he your first?

EAH - don't!!! I am still a bit nervous when lo has a lie in and hasn't woken us before the alarm by talking to her toys.

RGee · 04/05/2007 20:47

UD - btw, have cracked open the white wine!!

Lizz - meant to tell you, asked DH to bring some of that double chocolate thingy home from his race last night, but the shop he went to didn't sell it. instead he bought some Mars Planets which are new. RGee's tasting panel does not recommend those. You hardly get any in a bag ( a poor man's Revels) and they don't taste very chocolatey.

canmummy · 04/05/2007 20:50

Hi Callie! Big welcome to you

EAH - that poor family I don't know what I'd do in their shoes doesn't bear thinking about

RGee - it's you doing the cursing isn't it? As I read your post a little whimper came down the baby monitor - she's never done that before!!

UD hate talking politics but bnp got another seat in our ward. Sent dp to get a newspaper with a homes supplement in as I now really want to move.

Well dh finally home after being away all week so probably won't have much time to get on here over the weekend - but I'll try

vinorouge · 04/05/2007 21:23

There is so much to catch upon! My own fault I know for not having MN'd for yonks.

Rgee & Canmummy you are helping to motivate me to get running again....not got round to it yet, keep using BF as an excuse cos not got a sports bra that fits until boobs shrink back to nothing again.

A gym obsessed friend of mine saw me for first time since had lo and when I told her to poke my tummy to see how squidgy it was she was horrified and suggested we did some sit ups. I declined in no uncertain terms!

Mrs Carrot - congrats !!!! Sounds like you had a lovely time. Weddings are sooo lovely. DH & I spent a happy hour on xmas day re-reading all our wedding cards.

Agree that Katie from Apprentice is turning out to be a bit of a meanie. I quite like Adam and confess I felt quite emotional when they all made it clear they weren't pleased to see him back. Think its just cos he's the only normal one.

UD - I looked into train tickets to come to your BF protest but its not feasible so sorry I can't be there.

I have been busy on hols in peak district for a week - was so nice to get out walking again, and then been on a lot of picnics this week. Its a hard life being a mum isn't it?!

Pissed off with my work cos I wrote to them 7 weeks ago about when I want to go back and not had a reply yet. It might be time to get stroppy!

MrsCarrot · 04/05/2007 21:44

Is that virtual running or real running? A friend I used to go with has asked me if I want to start again when she gets back from Scotland in two weeks. It seemed like quite a long time away so I said yes, now it seems to be getting closer. Hmm, not sure I even know where my trainers are, but I REALLY need some exercise. I used to be quite fit once upon a time. I even kickboxed, but I'm never allowed to live down the time I dislocated dp's shoulder , although, he had done it once before, so they are prone to popping out again

MrsCarrot · 04/05/2007 21:45

DH! Dh now, not dp, ha ha, I can't get used to this.

Shimmer · 05/05/2007 03:12

Hi Callie. My ds was born on 8th January too! Can you believe they're almost 4 months now!?! Are you bfeeding? Freddie was 14lbs when he was last weighed about 3 weeks ago. He also seems to now be getting rather large for his 3-6 clothes!! He was always very long, even when he was born.

Very sad and worrying about the little girl in portugal. As you say canmummy, doesn't bear thinking about (although i have to say my initial (i supppose rather heartless)reaction was why on earth did they leave a 3 and 2 years alone!)

I've noticed F always reaches for things with his left hand at the moment. Wonder if he's going to be a leftie???

MrsCarrot · 05/05/2007 10:09

Hi Callie!

Urrg, I really wish I hadn't heard about that poor little girl when I went to bed last night, it stopped me sleeping. On the last night of our honeymoon this time, under pressure from DH, we used the listening service in the hotel and went down for dinner. The only reason I agreed was because ds1 was there too and he's nine but we had an interconnecting room for them and dd watched a vid in their room while ds1 watched one next to LO.
Reception said they'd let us know if they argued or if baby cried etc but actually they came and got us before we'd finished our meal as the night porter had seen Alice looking out of the door. She said she wanted me but was too scared to come down the stairs. DS1 fell asleep to Pirates of the Carribean so actually anything could have happened. I'm never doing it again. Hearing the baby cry on the monitor is only one of the things that can go wrong. The restuarant was full of parents every night and apparently EVERYONE uses it, but I'm an anxious person, and that was going against my instincts. I wouldn't put the monitor on at home and go for dinner six doors away.
Poor poor people, and the child? Feeling sick so will stop going on about it now.

Morning! She attempts to change topic breezily. I think we had all the sun for our wedding, it's bloody freezing outside. Bank holiday for us will be sorting out the house. Dh says we are officially completely skint now.

MrsCarrot · 05/05/2007 10:10

OMG, shimmer, I jus noticed the time of your last post. Bad night?

theUrbanDryad · 05/05/2007 10:46

morning all! hope you're having a good Bank Holiday weekend. dh has got the Tuesday off so we are having extra long weekend! woo hoo! we are off car-hunting today (nightmare!!) then swimming this afternoon then we are GOING OUT tonight! without lo! my mum is babysitting and we are going to a party. one of dh's friends has a book launch - i have no idea what to wear, but a kindly mnetter who lives over the road has said that she will lend me something. she is very funky and roughly the same size as me, so i'm hopeful she'll have something cool for me to wear.

what can i get my dad for his birthday? he doesn't smoke, drink, eat chocolate, gamble, read (much), doesn't need new clothes (and i'd have no idea what to get him) and seemingly has no hobbies. grr....

anyway...must go....catch you later! xx

2Happy · 05/05/2007 11:12

Mrs C - congratulations, the photos are lovely and you looked fantastic . (ps I think Shimmer posted at tht ungodly hour because she's still in HK)

Haven't posted for a bit so missed too many personals...
Wilkie, hope you're having a good weekend;
Jodie - is dh actually home this weekend??;
UD - hope plans for the picnic are going well, remember and smile sweetly at those nice policemen ;
PCF - 6lb , well done, you!
Callie - hi, glad to hear your lo is doing so well, must have been tough at the beginning for you

Apprentice - Adam is always told off for being negative - thing is, he seems to be right every time he says an idea is crap! There might be some editing spin though, because he really didn't seem popular when he came back. OMG Katie!! Is she going to be vilified when she leaves! What a bitch! And I thought Tre was a bit up himself. And I wish Kristina would use a slightly paler shade of foundation, or at least attempt to put it on with less of a trowel - she had a really obvious line by her ear, even dh noticed!

Running - stop, you're making me feel guilty!

BUT....here's my news...

I put ds1 to bed at 7.25pm last night.

HE FELL ASLEEP!!! Within 5 or ten mins, no running around, no big conversations, no thumping the walls

AND

HE STAYED ASLEEP

UNTIL AFTER EIGHT!!! Thats like 13 hours sleep!!!

I won't jinx myself and say we've cracked it (after 14 flipping nights!) but it's definitaley getting better!
