Another one here with a broken baby

I think he is either heading for a cold or having another growth spurt?? Do hey have one at 5-6 months?

He is eating 2 solid meals a day and still b/f every 2-3 hours. He was only waking once in the ight but last night it was every 2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dh started a new job yesterday after being off work for quite a while, It has hit me like a sledgehammer having to cope with 5 kids in the morning and then of course he gets home just as dinner is being cooked and al the kids are playing up!!

Ho hum the joys of parenthood

Eli your trip sounds manic but lovely at the same time

We have decided to buy a huge tent and go camping in the summer holidays. I have only ever been for 1 night with 2 kids hoe on earh am I going to do 4 nights with 5 kids inc a baby!?!?

Cocobabe · 09/05/2007 10:49

LowFatMilkshake · 09/05/2007 11:19

Hi All,

Sorry I have'nt been on here much, and please excuse me for not catching up properly, I have skimmed through but there is loads.

I have been working on a few observational articles which I am writing in the hope of publication.

On the children front DS is 5 months now and a sleep talker...not to mention such a light sleeper that his breahing monitor went of5 times last night. So I am constantly in and out of his room checking on him.

And when it's not him it's DD waking in tears and needing some attention - she trying to get out of night time nappies.

I might get them both in bed and asleep by 7.30pm, but that's not to say I have a nice quiet night! Although DS doesnt feed between 7.30pm and 6.30am. So Jabber - those books....they went back to the library!
Hopefully it's a short lived phase as I am back to work in 3.5 weeks and counting!

Anyway I am just checking in to say Hi and hope you are all okay. I am trying to get hold of CashnCary for the Mile for Maude

Keep well

LFM

babypowder · 09/05/2007 13:36

And why is it that the second I turn my back or walk away from DD2 she becomes inconsolable? I can't get anything done

castlesintheair · 09/05/2007 14:30

Just a flying visit as I have to keep running! Eli, my email is castlesintheair@hotmail dot co dot uk (not dot com).
Hope everyone is well and their LOs.

Elibean · 09/05/2007 14:31

Aha. Broken babies, colds, sleepless nights. Sounds mighty familiar...

Wonder if our LOs are having a baby-conspiracy? Or are the colds just hanging around longer this spring than usual?

A friend's dd had croup last week. I ask you, its MAY ffs, croup?!?

dd is finally interested in solids, at nearly 24 weeks, and throws herself at whatever food is in my hand in scary fashion. She nearly got my bread roll on the Eurostar, is that whats meant by BLW?

Elibean · 09/05/2007 14:33

Thanks, Castles, will try forwarding last email to that address.

And I meant fgs, not ffs, oops (am frantically trying not to swear as dd1 of an age to copy - ashamed to say its a struggle when tired/ill: anyone else?!)

Elibean · 09/05/2007 14:35

Castles, checked sent email - did it right, very odd. Had same problem sending email to Lucy. It didn't get spammed, did it?

Would give you mine, but has our surname in it so reluctant to post on open forum..

Olihan · 09/05/2007 16:50

Hello, Still not moved but at PILs so limited MN access [boo]. Don't know moving date yet....

Broken baby here too, every 1.5 - 2 hrs overnight .

Tried a little pear yesterday pm so may keep going with that for a bit & hope it has an impct. Tiredness won over the 6 months/BLW plan!

Hope you're all okay, apart from being knackered!

Indith · 10/05/2007 09:16

Oli poor thing, hope PILs are looking after you!

DS refused bedtime then cried himself to sleep about 8. Slept til 7.30 though with a short feed at 1.45 Now he's sleeping better at night he seems to sleep more in the day too though yesterday felt like all he did was sleep or grizzle.

magnolia1 · 10/05/2007 10:05

How long do you let them cry for?? With 4 other kids I find it hard to let him cry for even a minute or 2

Oli, What a pain!!!! Hope the move (when you move!) goes smoothly xxx

Another crap night. Ds1 was up every 2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want my sleep back

Indith · 10/05/2007 10:24

Think he was crying for about 10mins. I was out at Guides. Not on his own though being hugged by dp. I let him grizzle but I'm a wimp when it comes to crying too. when he gets tired he just cries and all you can do is cuddle him til he falls asleep. My baby used to fall asleep perfectly happily on his own dammit!

magnolia1 · 10/05/2007 10:51

Oh I let him cry on Dh In fact thats his normal way of geing to sleep at the moment. Its just I can't put him down crying, Glad I'm not the only wimp

dd1 used to sleep from 7pm-7am, awake when she was put down and would go to sleep within about 5 mins

Indith · 10/05/2007 10:55

Now that is annoying for you. I think I'm the winner overall in my swap. Baby who put himself to sleep but fed lots overnight vs baby who goes to bed later and cries but only feeds once. Ho hum. If I could just redo bedtime I'd be one happy mummy.

Elibean · 10/05/2007 11:45

Oli why oh why does moving always involve delays? HOep you're getting lots of help!

Slightly less snotty baby here: managed from 6.30pm (too early, but she was bushed after a stint in the door bouncer: try it, Indith ) to 12.30, then 3am, then into our bed and ok till 6am, then too snotty to sleep except on me upright till 7am at which point I handed her to dh.

ATM, bed time is a doddle - though she has to be re-settled at least once during the evening. And needs one main feed during the night - the rest, tbh, is mostly wind and snot. Nice.

And worse, I can relate have caught her cold big time, hoping its not going on to chest today

Indith · 10/05/2007 11:48

I have a door bouncer, I'd try it too if we didn't have huge fire doors that spring shut if you walk past them the wrong way!

I appear to be glued to my laptop, Showofhands from the May thread is in labour.

castlesintheair · 10/05/2007 12:00

Eli, got your email and have replied!

Sorry to hear about the move Olihan. It's a nightmare but it will be worth it in the end and at least you have your PILs to help you out in the meantime. Make the most of them and get some sleep!

Hope non-sleeping babies get their acts together soon for tired mummies. DD2 isn't too bad but she doesn't sleep at all during the day and she wants to be held ALL THE TIME and she's really heavy

I met a (gorgeous ) woman today and I'm sure she is a MN'er and maybe even a December 2006 postnatal one. Not sure who but I just got a feeling. Does that happen to anyone else? Going to check when everyone's LO was born now ...

Indith · 10/05/2007 12:11

Ooooh mysterey Castles.

Not neglecting ds by the way, he is right next to me playing with his clown.

glassslipper · 10/05/2007 13:06

hi all.

DD2 has no routine. It is all over the place. She sleeps wheneverut not much. Goes to bed easily at bed time but wakes 2 x. Such a schock as DD1 was so easy....

Interesting castles. Where did you meet and who do you hink it might be? Love a it of gossip. Alas, I know it cant be me as I am far from gorgeous at he moment

magnolia1 · 10/05/2007 13:09

Could have been me Castles but sadly I am not looking gorgeous at the moment either. Thanks to lack sleep

Anyone else got a bouncy chair that their lo has learnt how to bounce in?? Ds1 moves his right leg and almost bounces himself out

castlesintheair · 10/05/2007 13:19

I wondered if it was you Magnolia but this person didn't have enough children with her!!

I know it sound's strange but we met in the loo in Starbucks in Richmond. I'm not in the habit of 'meeting' people in public loos btw! She looked very young so it could have been any of you! She also had 2 DDs, the youngest born a couple of days before mine (can't remember date now) and in same hospital. Go on, spill the beans

Btw, I don't wonder the streets thinking every mother I see is a MNer, I just had one of those spooky psychic moments 10 minutes beforehand. I'm prone to these. Now I sound really weird!

glassslipper · 10/05/2007 13:20

my DD has a door bouncer whic she loves. She also has a swing but was never interested in her bouncy chair.

I'm struggling with any kind of routine for my DD. Any idea of what you do would be good

castlesintheair · 10/05/2007 13:25

DD2 just likes being bounced on my lap All day ideally!

No idea about routine GS but if you find out, let me know I just put DD2 'down' in her pram to try and get her to sleep. She fell asleep only to be woken 5 minutes later by my dear darling DD1.

glassslipper · 10/05/2007 13:47

with DD1 it was really easy as she woke, fed, played. was up 2 hours then conked out, slept for an hour and repeated. so she fed every 3 hours and never got overtired.

DD2 is so different. Gorgeous but I just havent worked her out quite yet. She is more chilled and perhaps doesnt need a routine like that but it makes it harder to work out what she wants/needs.

Cocobabe · 10/05/2007 16:17

DS likes his bouncer chair (babybjorn) and kicks his legs furiously! me thinks ooh what strong legs he has might grow up to a handsome sportsman ! Do you guys ever imagine what your lo's might grow up to be ?
We also have a door bouncer too but not yet tried it with ds . With dd1 - she hated it ! She got into a routine easily but with ds so laid back/contended havent yet figured out what routine he likes !

Castles - or should be Sherlock - have you solved the mystery of the gorgeous mnetter yet ? (cant be me I live miles away from Richmond !and definate not feeling gorgeous at mo - im a right mess at mo !)
