Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Indith · 01/05/2007 17:48

Ds is flat out bless him. I was getting his room sorted for tonight and he was grizzling on my bed then he just went to sleep. Think that is the first time he hasn't just started yelling from grizzling. Mind you I am finally larning to let him fuss and cry sometimes!

He is so deeply asleep though,I've had a bit of a tidy around him and he hasn't even stirred.Tempting to just sod bathtime (at 6 usually) and just transfer him to his cot. Of course sods law if I do that he will wake in half an hour having decded he's had anice nap and can we play now please!

Decisions decisions. Suppose he hasn't got his night nappy on....decision made I think! RAther not have him wake up half way through my evening with a soggy bottom!

glassslipper · 01/05/2007 17:50

I love it when they do that Indith. Although you then kick yourselves for even thinking of having to wake them up

jabberwocky · 01/05/2007 18:02

I'll do that when I get home, gs. It's on that computer. The only thing you have to do is make sure you have clicked "Accept CAT" or something like that in your account.

Indith, had the same issue last night with ds2. Wound up giving him a bath as his head had been itchy and he needed his special shampoo or the night would have been awful. It was a tough decision tho!

Speaking of, reminds me GS. DS2 had horrible cradle cap. Nothing worked until our pediatrician suggested head and shoulders dandruff shampoo . Now I use it 2 or 3 times a week and the cradle cap is practically gone. He still scratches at it occasionally. She had recommended .5% steroid cream for his face and so I slather that on his scalp as well.

jabberwocky · 01/05/2007 21:17

eli, if you're still around at all, I meant to tell you that ds2's allergies got much better when I washed his bumpers on his crib. I hadn't thought of it before but of course dust gets there too and it had been a while since I did them. bad, messy, mommy....

castlesintheair · 01/05/2007 21:29

GS, if you are worried about your DD's flat head can I recommend the sleepcurve mattress. We've been using one for nearly 3 weeks and have really noticed a difference. These things don't always resolve themselves on their own (I have some experience in this) and now is an ideal time to do some repositioning if you can. If you need any advice (in addition to Jabber's) let me know

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 01/05/2007 21:36

106 messages? Since Saturday?

methinks that our babies are getting a bit easier to handle!

Oli - so sorry that your house move hasn't happened.

Duct tape? hmm may try this

Sleep vibes to one and all!!!

OP posts:
Indith · 02/05/2007 08:39

Must have missed out on the sleep vibes, every 1.5 hrs after about 11 Still spurting then methinks/hopes.

Olihan · 02/05/2007 08:50

Crap night here too, every 2.5 hours to 11pm, then 12:30, 1:45, 3am, then about every 50 mins to an hour until 6am when dh got up.

What is that about then? I NEED SLEEP!

Indith · 02/05/2007 09:22

Me too I want sleep! Why oh why do they lie before you have babies? Oh yes of course they start to sleep through by 6 weeks. Hah. Why couldn't ds take after dp who actually did sleep 13 hours straight from 6 weeks.

ds has gone through very dry nappy I had so far today

I can't be bothered today. I'm just going to sit here and play on t'interweb with ds on my lap, who has started to grizzle, good sign that he is about to drop off

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 02/05/2007 09:58

I had a bad night too. In the end I shoved my head under the pillow and let her cry . She had been fed, changed and cuddled and I could do no more.

Had a very wierd dream as well

Cocobabe · 02/05/2007 10:44

oh dear ..think all the sleep vibes meant for Oli, Indith & Margo have come to me - DS slept from 9.30pm to 4.45am - change/feed -resettled at 5.30am to 8.30am
So I am sending {{{{sleep vibes}}} back to the rightful mummies ...

Cocobabe · 02/05/2007 10:48

GS - Coal tar shampoo ?! never heard of it , it sounds digusting - I have visions on black glop on poor baby head...what is it like ? does it smell horrible ?

oohh duct tape for banishing verruccas ? thats a great tip !

glassslipper · 02/05/2007 10:56

Not having much sleep here either (although she has just fallen asleep on her playmat!).

Coco- Not sure about the coal tar - we havent collected the prescription yet. I'll let you know.

The duct tape works. The only hard bit i found was keeping it on as your feet sweat and it loses stickiness. I re-applied a new piece every day. After 2 weeks I got fed up with it and the verrucca was still there so i gave up. Within a week it had disappeared.

SachaF · 02/05/2007 12:05

I must have received some sleep vibes yay! Had a good night last night - I only got up 3 times and dh got up twice, or maybe the swimming wore him out. That used to be considered a bad night but now it is considered a good night
Indith, are you in the 14-16 week stint? I found that tough - waking every 90 minutes in the night for a whole two weeks. [hugs] you deserve to lounge on the sofa and EAT

Indith · 02/05/2007 12:48

2 weeks! No! Does the baby not know that mummy and daddy have exams?! But yes ds will be 16 weeks tomorrow.

Indith · 02/05/2007 12:53

Oh and why does the EBM I just defrosted look curdled? Have more defrosting but just in case that goes the same way trying to pump a decent amount in the next 3 hours before he goes to a friend! Not that he'll take it (unless he remembers that he did at one point do bottles) but at least if there is milk there I can't feel guilty about him starving!

magnolia1 · 02/05/2007 14:02

Awww you poor lot who are having no sleep. Ds1 is getting betterand went 10pm till 2am then till 6am so not too bad.

Good news about the bottle, I had work for 2 hours this morning and yesterday I bought a tin of sma coz ds1 wasn't taking b/m in a bottle. Dh made up 5 oz and the little bugger drank the lot
Still wanted a feed from mummy to go to sleep though
So he doesn't like b/m in a bottle but will drink formula. Do you think having it every few days (just 3-5oz) will affect my supply??

Oli hows the house stuff going??

Indith, hope you get a well behaved baby while doing your exams xxx Also just give the EBM a swirl round and then smell it, it will smell awful if gone off.

babypowder · 02/05/2007 14:49

Please send sleep vibes! DD2, previously the little angel that slept through, is clearly spurting at the moment. Add to that a blocked nose, meaning that I lay in DD1s bed (she was in ours?!) with DD2 feeding all night. My house is a tip, I have to make a birthday cake for DH and stepD1 (they share a birthday), and pack for this weekend, and all I want to do is sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

Indith, hope DS settles quickly for you, in time for your exams.

Oli, hope everything is going OK ...

And for those with babies that are sleeping - it is the most fantastic thing, isn't it!

glassslipper · 02/05/2007 15:03

i remember dd1 slept like an angel. poor dd2 just cant get the hang of it.

we've been to the Drs today and she had her 3rd set of jabs. She was great. Sleeping now too. I also got her weighed. She is 12lb 2oz (same as 2 weeks ago) and I've been giving her solids. My hv didnt seem concerned as she is teething but suggested upping her solids and adding butter to the veg to up the calories a bit. She didnt bat an eyelid when i told her i wasnt waiting until 6 months to wean. In fact she said 'oh no, if she likes it and needs extra calories then go for it.' I was very pleased , if still a bit worried about her weight

Olihan · 02/05/2007 15:38

Okay, so the news on the house is..........................................................there isn't any. Still haven't exchanged, still no actual date. we'll 'maybe exchange tomorrow, but maybe not, or we could exchange today if everything's sorted, but may not'.

Deja vu anyone?

My resolve on weaning is slipping rapidly with all the sleepleess nights. I keep thinkung that he might go onger if he had something that takes longer to digest in his tummy. Does it work like that? He's not even 18 weeks yet so it still seems really early to be doing it.

glassslipper · 02/05/2007 16:09

Olihan - i hate moving. exchanging vibes coming your way

Only you can decide about weaning. I did it with DD1 and 2 at about 18 1/2 weeks. Dd1 was already sleeping through. It hasnt made too much difference with DD2 but she does like it.

weirdbird · 02/05/2007 16:29

I started weaning this weekend, she is 4 calendar months now and had been eyeing up or food for weeks at dinner time, gave her breastmilk and baby rice which she wasnt overly impressed with, and then tried apple and banana puree which she LOVED, making mmmm noises all the time and was lapping it up.

She hasn't been well this last 24hrs an absoultely streaming cold, so I didnt give her any when we sat down to dinner yesterday and when we all started eating and she didnt she started to cry, gave her some mush and she was happy again...

magnolia1 · 02/05/2007 17:01

Oli, what a PITA about moving, remember it well and won't ever do it again!!!!

I weaned ds1 at 16 weeks due to his reflux and constant feeding. His tongue thrusting had already gone and he swallowed well from the word go. Now at 22 weeks and eats the spoon if I don't feed him quickly enough. Can't say it helped with sleeping at first but Avacado or banana is high in calories so we tried them and that night he slept 6 hours

Sleep vibes to all you with non sleepers xxxx

jabberwocky · 02/05/2007 17:44

Augghhhh! LAst night:

down at 8:30, up again at 10:30, 12:30 and 1:30. Then ds1 woke up at 2:30 . Ds2 again at 3:30, 4:30 then 6:30.

Have a sitter coming at noon. I thought I would get some things done for the party we're having on Sunday but instead I'm going to sleeeeeeep...

accessorizewithbabysick · 02/05/2007 22:44

{{{{{sleep vibes to everyone who needs them, far too many of you to list}}}} Goodness, the sleep fairy's not visiting many of you at present, how do you manage in the day, I'd be a total zombie (well i was when ds1 did this to me and then started the day 5am!).

No longer using nipple shields here, I am sooooo pleased as nearly 5 months of hard work has paid off & bf is seeming quite easy really. He's been feeding for max 10 mins during the day every 2 hours, and I've sorted the night feed as well so it's taking about 45 mins in all to get him to sleep rather than 2 hours. Well chuffed, no way I'm giving up bf now just when I've got the hang of it! And the daytime naps are coming back as I've stopped overfeeding him & giving him massive wind

He is very very interested in food, but I'm delaying until 6 months (he's 5mo on Sunday) for the sake of the allergies. Plus I can't be arsed and no way could he sleep anymore anyway. I think I was told that if you put some mashed potato in with other things, it makes it more substantial (i.e. more likely to sleep on it

Agreed with dp tonight that I can go back for a couple of half-days at work plus some hours at home & do some 'consulting' work for his company to make up the difference. And I'm delaying going back at all until July, yippeee! I do quite miss work, but I'd miss ds2 more.

Anyone else finding their lo has a bit of 'stranger anxiety'? Mine screams his head off (real tears and all) with anyone else but me and dp - inc mum who he sees every week. Surely a bit early for that, ds1 had dreadful separation anxiety from 9 months until 18 months arrrggh.
