Hi everyone!

Boy have I missed you guys. But I hardly have anytime to myself these days.

I've been preparing to come back to work, which I started yesterday. And before that I was cramming in as much good stuff with my babies as I could.

I wont even pretend I will be able to catch up on all the news. But I do promise I will be make more regular visits (from work if not home).

I hope you are all well.

Dylan is coming on in leaps and bounds and is now feeding himself (and anything he's wearing) rusks. He's not set his night monitor off for a while - and I think it only goes off when he's cold. But he had a couple of breath catching episodes last week, which shocked us as we though he was over that.

He's rolled over on his own once but landed on a toy his sister had been encouraging him with and was so traumatised he's not tried again since. Although DD happily rolls him about anyway. He's now happy to sit in a wlker though which has him in a much better position for seeing what's going on as well as playing with stuff. And he has the most infectious belly laugh ever - although slightly gruff with his floppy larynx - which is getting louder (apparently they get louder just before they get better)

All in all things are okay, could be worse - could be a bit better (if we won the lottery )

Anyway, lots of love to everyone and sorry I was away so long please update me on any important stuff.

Lots of love

LFM

hiya all ...

just seen HV today , ds( turns 6mths on thurs ) now weighs 18lb 60z - really pleased with him as his weight dropped slightly 2 mths ago when he had bronchiolitis.(at the same time my arms feels like popeye biceps !)
When i told hv that he still wakes up in night for a feed ...she suggested giving him little bit of water instead of his milk as its not good for babys teeth at night..and she thinks it might make him wake less so am wondering if any of u feed yr los water at night ?

Unchief - thats gr8 news abt x-ray

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 05/06/2007 15:40

Ah Milkshake, I've missed you.

I go back to work on the 28th

I am going back as a phased return to work and doing 11-3 for 3 weeks, then i have a weeks holiday then back to full days (only Thursdays and Fridays with 2 Saturdays per month)

Good news unchief!

WB - I am so unlike Margo from the Good Life, but I don't mind you linking this to me. I wish I could look as preened as she did in the series. I am also a tad common (this is what happens when you spend your formative years in "Sarf Lunden" )

LFM - lovely to see you back ..
how was yr 1st day back at work ? I'm dreading my return to work esp with ds still waking up in the night !..

ds has just started goin into his door bouncer and he loves it ! it sooooo cute watching him watch his feet 'run'!! as if saying ' wow look at me go !' ...

LowFatMilkshake · 05/06/2007 15:55

Ahh - it's nice to be missed!

Must make sure I dont spend all my time on MN while at work as I did towards the end of my PG.

First day back was okay as I have a friend here who told my boss not to p*ss me off and just to let me use the first week to find my feet.

DS seemed to change in the 6 hours I was away from him, he was laughing and smiling more and seemed bigger. It was also wierd because last time I was at work I only had 1 child at home, and this time I had two - it was a bit wierd to keep thinking that.

I hate having to get home so late though. Yesterday I left work at 5 and was home for 5.55, today Ibhave to work till 6 as I only got in at 1, so I will be home just as my DC's are dropping off to sleep That is entirely the worst part!

Indith · 05/06/2007 19:52

Hello LFM!

God work....can't imagine it! I am so lucky really, ds will be close to 9 months by the time I start back at uni.

Well done on the bf front unchief, I hope things continue to go well for you.

Eli your girls sound so sweet! Sleep spunding like it is making progress too!

i have a shiny new freedom sling to play with but am missing the baby. My own fault, If I will put him to bed then i can't expect to be able to play with the sling I suppose.

babypowder · 05/06/2007 20:32

LFM, so to see you again!

I'm can't imagine being back at work already. I'm trying to convince DH that if we are REALLY careful with money then I could stay off til November instead of October. He's not buying it at all I'm still doing a few hours everyday (had a stack of telecons today, so worked for about 5 hours solid), but I like that I can pick an choose when I work.
I've taken to wearing DD2 on my back in her little rucksack all day long. She naps in it - which is great - so it lets me get on with fun things like ironing.

babypowder · 05/06/2007 20:37

Why can't I see the thread anymore??

Indith · 05/06/2007 20:39

Erm testing.....testing......

Indith · 05/06/2007 20:42

Oh hello it seems to be back again!

accessorizewithbabysick · 05/06/2007 21:17

Unichief, good news about the x-ray
Welcome back lfm, and hope your boss treats you a little nicer now.
I'm still figuring out return to work, must email my boss back but can't decide what I want to ask for (stay off indefinitely but still get paid?) and what he'd agree to.

castlesintheair · 06/06/2007 14:04

Thanks for the hug AQ I guess things can only get better.

Have an appointment to see a specialist on Friday about DD2's head. We will decide there and then whether to go ahead with the helmet. Seems to be a bit of a thing for my DCs

Just spent all morning at the paediatrician with DS regarding his ishoos

DD1 has a plaster over her black eye where she fell over and hit the coffee table.

DS is covered in really nasty bite marks from DD1. She is taking her frustration (reaction to DD2?) out on him. I am at a loss over what to do. Anyone got any advice that doesn't involve biting her back?

On a positive note, my D???F has finally flown back to the States. Hallalujah!

Welcome back LFM and anyone else who's been off-line. Hope everyone's doing well. So knackered, I can't even remember what you have all said

LowFatMilkshake · 06/06/2007 14:40

Help me ladies,

I'm sat here at work with a list of things to do as long as my arm, and absolutley no motivation. My feet hurt and the vending machine is calling me. My only respite is because my boss is out I have cheekliy plugged one ear in to my Ipod.

Last night I did'nt get in until 6.45, when it was time to bath the DC's and put them to bed, then I had my tea at 8pm, and was in bed by 9.30 ready to start again today. I feel I have no home life and miss my DD so much as I dont see her hardly at all because she's at pre-school.

Maternity leave is now 9 months - seems almost worth having another child just to escape this job again! Someone please tell me it will get better and make me smile!

LowFatMilkshake · 06/06/2007 14:42

Hi Castles - sorry I missed your post, things sound a bit chaotic with you - hope they resolve soon.

weirdbird · 06/06/2007 15:17

Can I just say

Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow "breath" ow ow ow ow ow ow

Had a coil fitted this morning and have been having cramps like I am in labour ever since. Am armed with a hot water bottle and my MiL (I think I am learning to lover her!) has takenm DD2 and is going to pick up DD1 from school for me so I can die in peace.

Ow ow ow ow ow, I'm beginning to think that just not having sex again would be easier!

Indith · 06/06/2007 15:23

Castles here's hoping things settle down a bit!

LFM you por tired thing. Is there any way you can tweak bedtimes etc to be a little more 'continental' so that you eat together etc and are able to see a little more of your DCs?

In other news, the council are cretins. My council tax saga is still going on but now the decision seems to be final and i have to pay because they consider my student loan to be disposable income. So being on full rate of CTC due to having no income and having a student loan means I have to pay full council tax in a high banded property. Fun. Good job I've managed to save rather a lot of my CTC so far then

Indith · 06/06/2007 15:26

WB (((hugs)))

You sound just like me a little while ago! Hurts to buggery doesn't it. I spend a couple of days curled in bed with hot water bottle on my back and cuddling a warm baby on my front! Gets better though.

LowFatMilkshake · 06/06/2007 15:55

Ooh WB - you poor thing. Have a nice hot Milo

Just adds to my suggestion that having another baby is a better option, avoids painful coil fittings and gets me off work again!

jabberwocky · 06/06/2007 16:59

Castles, so sorry that you're having to look into a helmet
but it will be over soon and I feel that you will be glad you did it. I was always a teensy bit sorry that we didn't with ds1 but he did round out fairly well in the end. I think a helmet would have just made me feel more secure that it would be OK and fixed that bit of flatness on one side that is still there.

Have no idea what to do about the biting Big hugs on that one (and you know I'm not much of a hugger!)

WB - you've just put me off a while longer on the coil. Hope you feel better soon.

LFM - glad you're back. I know it's really tough to get back into working. Are you doing it full time?

weirdbird · 06/06/2007 18:42

LFM - I would have a Milo but all my local stores have stopped selling it they removed it in the run up to Xmas and then re-stocked...

Have looked everywhere and cant get it...

I was most put out when i was still pregnant as it had become my fav drink "rants"

Am feeling a bit better now, what I want to know is which bright spark first shoved a bit of copper up inside a women to find out that it did stop you getting pregnant???

mylittlefreya · 06/06/2007 19:19

Hi,

I've been away with the baby looking after my mum (poorly, getting better). We are not sleeping any better here, so I am shattered from looking after the pair of them, plus 6 hour train journeys with a 5 1/2 month old. But she learnt to put her feet in her mouth today and it's so hilarious that it all feels better for a few happy seconds!!

Sorry the coil hurts, mine was totally fine, I guess I was lucky. And the peace of mind is priceless that's for sure.

Lots of hugs to those back at work.

GlassSlipper · 06/06/2007 20:30

so much to catch up on, I havent a hope.

castles. sorry about DDs head. Hope the appt goes well. My DDs head is still pretty flat on one side. It looks kind of triangular from the top. The GP assured me it would correct itself but I'm not sure. I bought a support pillow and she has slept on it every night for a month. I think it is making a difference but it is difficult to tell.

sleep vibes to all that need it...

spina · 06/06/2007 21:04

hi everyone!

It took me a while to track you all down again. For anyone who remembers me from months ago, we've moved back into our house and I'm back online!

it's going to take me another three months to catch up with everything that has happened to you all.I started to flick back but i couldn't find a spot where it seem sensible to start, so bear with me if i'm a bit dim for a while and ask loads of daft questions

For those who I haven't met before, I'm spina, mother of two(how did that happen!) DS(almost four) and (the reason I'm here) DS born new years day,but due on Xmas day.Drama queen of the house -extending-ceiling collapsing-we- currently-have-no-bathroom- doors-and-our-"kitchen"-is-set-up-in-DS1 old bedroom variety.

Currently I'm waiting the magic moment ds2 sleeps through. I go back to work on 16th july and i cannot believe how quickly the time has gone.

Will have to catch up again tommorrow. I have a bathful of washing up to do(countdown to dishwasher) and I need to do any scheduled hair maintenance (either washing or removal) while I don't have any builders on site(see door referance above!)

babypowder · 06/06/2007 22:44

Hello Spina! We've missed you!

Gosh, the extension sounds like a bit of a nightmare - I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. (I bet you repeat that like a mantra )

Had DD2 weighed today. She's 24 (tho technically 22) weeks old today, and has WAY more than doubled her birth weight! 17lb 6oz. Knew that my back was complaining for a reason

The look on my HV's face when I told her that she was still exclusively BF was a picture.
