Thanks for sympathy everyone, much appreciated. Sob! And hugs, Jabber

GS, if you are unsure about your DD's head, you can go and see a specialist & they give you a free consultation (I think they are all the same) whereby they take measurements and give you a range from mild to severe and then you can decide whether to proceed with treatment. I have been told by the one I am seeing that they do frequently say "your child's head is fine" so they aren't just money-spinners, which was my concern. IME, HVs/GPs etc will always tell you that your child's head will round out. Normally they do, but sometimes they don't as is the case with my DS and why I am probably overly cautious especially as he has special needs and there are some indications that the 2 are linked. Google "LOC band" or "Star band" or "plagiocephaly" if you want to find somewhere near you. Good luck and let me know if you need any advice.

DD2 has now got a vomitting bug. Oh joy! Still, at least both she and her elder sister (who is probably also going to get it), are both asleep!

Welcome back Spina. You've been missed

LittleMissLate · 07/06/2007 15:15

Dd slept through - finally !!!. Woke up when dh went into the shower at 7am. Probably a one-off but at least I know she can do it now. As she's over 6 months we've started giving her dairy products as well as fruit and veg and she had cheesy lentils with veg for tea - perhaps the extra protein kept her going that bit longer... of course I still woke up early and had to go and check she was okay... I went back to work on Monday so it was nice to have a bit more sleep - surviving so far

Indith · 07/06/2007 17:06

Hello Spina welcome back!

I had great fun with projectile vomit and a pooy nappy at 5 this morning. Oh so much fun when I'd already fed at 3.30. still he then slept til 8.20

Poor ds has been in the wars today. He lurched forward at the wrong time when playing at grinning at himself in the bathroom mirror with dp and bashed his head. Now has a bruise and lump on his right eyebrow (which has already gone down loads thankfully) and a red line diagonally across to the top left of his forehead. Poor little chap. Was horrible though, the sensible first aid trained brain told me to stick a cold compress on it and he would be fine as he hadn't been sick and was screaming his head off. The paranoid mum part of me will be watching carefully for a while. Poor dp though feels so guilty even though it is just one of those things.

Scuse the typing ds is crashed out in the the most uncomfortable and debilitating position for me!

babypowder · 07/06/2007 20:20

Indith - poor wee mite! I bet his dad feels far worse than him now

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 07/06/2007 23:20

Poor little man Indith.

I left dds in the lounge while I put something in the bin and I heard screaming. dd2 was on the floor (she was on the sofa) dd1 had tried to pick her up.

dd2 was okay after about 5 mins, there were no bumps or bruises. I'm usually so careful. I won't be leaving them unattended anymore

Spina, good to see you welcome back!

Fallen babies...poor LO, Indith; dd2 lurched forwards on my shoulder yesterday morning and bashed her forehead on the bedhead. No bruising, but lots of yelling...its horrid, isn't it? Good trained instincts, hope the anxious mummy part is reassured fast.

Castles, vomiting bugs and helmets......hope you have a very good weekend to make up for it all, thats so much to deal with! Though tbh, 3 kids and no help even without the bugs and head issues, or SN, respect. IYSWIM.

Rushing here as usual - dd2 in own room as of three nights ago, took me hours to let go and get to sleep the first night (expected ) but doing ok now. Hsan't changed her sleeping patterns a bit, though

I did my back in this week carrying all 7kg of her around a school open day (for dd1) which was a total waste of time, as it turned out - got quite which didnt' help, then thank goodness made it to a physio yesterday. Made me realize how much I need my back!!

Indith · 08/06/2007 10:16

Morning!

Glad to know we are not the only ones Just a bit of purple over his eye this morning. He slept so well last night. When I checked on him around 3 he was so deeply asleep. Fed around 4 then back to sleep. I went to get him at 7.30 because I was dripping and he hadn't sqeaked and he gave me such a fright as he was lying there, eyes open and didn't move when I prodded him! Of course he did when I grabbed him and picked him up, all dozy and confused, the poor thing must still have been half asleep!

Shall now attempt to lay paranoid mum to rest. Must wake ds soon. Having the best morning nap he has had in a long time but we need to go out and he needs a nappy change and some clothes!

Eli no lugging heavy babies for a while!

Indith · 09/06/2007 09:49

Ok am I the only one to have been on here in 23 hours or have you all gone and started another thread without me?

magnolia1 · 09/06/2007 10:03

Lol, Indith theres no other link hun

I'm here but been lurkingas haven't the energy to post
Ds1 still feeding every 2.5-3 hrs day and night!!!! 2-3 solid meals a day too! He catnaps in the day and I am giving him his reflux meds regularly but still like a bloody 6 week old

Haven't had him weighed in ages but I know he is a heavy lump My back can't even cope with him in the wilkinet carrier anymore It can be used as a back carrier but he screamed while I faffed and I gave up

Welcome back Spina xxx

Ouch for ds's head Indith xx

Ds1 has not been dropped by siblings yet but has been bitten by my mums puppy although only playfully

Our new kitchen is being fitted bu not as disruptive as I thouhgt. And I have a new DISHWASHER!!!!!!!
Getting a new tumble dryer next week too
Now just have to persuade Dh we need a new dining room table

Indith · 09/06/2007 10:33

Blimy Magnolia and I was feeling forry for myself because ds had me up at ll (don't you just hate it when they wake when you've been in bed about 15 mins and have just gone to sleep?) 3.30 and 5. A dishwasher though! Now that is exciting!

Ds has finally become properly 'regular' again. Unfortunately this has been at night fo rthe pat 3 nights! Not at the same time as a feed either but an hour or so after . I want my old baby back, the one who used to snuggle in bed with me for breakfast, grunt and poo.

mylittlefreya · 09/06/2007 11:11

We also do pooey nappies in the middle of the night, yuck.

I'm sure I wake up more due to dh's snoring than for dd. Not sure what to do about that one.

(((Hugs))) to all the sleep deprived

magnolia1 · 09/06/2007 11:55

Mlf, I get woken by dh's snoring too, I want to come downstairs at times but then have to leave ds1 upstairs

Ds1 was a night pooer for the 1st 4 months and now is an anytime anywhere type of guy

GlassSlipper · 09/06/2007 12:54

My Dd poos every time she eats. lol. You put her in her playnest after lunch and when you get her out she has 'performed'. We call it her poo spot.

mylittlefreya · 09/06/2007 19:15

What's a playnest, GlassSlipper? Sounds good, if it confines the rolypolying that goes on on - well, off, - the playmat!

GlassSlipper · 09/06/2007 19:57

mlf - this

GlassSlipper · 09/06/2007 20:02

it's great mlf, especially when they are crawling as it contains them. My DD1 used to spend ages in hers. Dd2 now goes in it about 4 times a day for anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes a go.

Calmriver · 09/06/2007 22:17

Yay! Im back from my 4 month trip to the sunny caribbean.....

NOT!!!!

Ive missed you all so much...we moved as you may remember and in this day in age it takes 8 weeks to get internet up and running!!!! We were ready for it the day we moved in, but I cant believe how SLOW they were and how many calls it has taken to get hooked on again!

Well....I have loads of catching up to do...

Amberli is doing wonderfully and just adores her big sister! She is getting so excited about everything and is also having 3 solids a day! She is going to be 7 MONTHS this month and weighs in at 13 lbs!!! Yes,,,thats a little 5kg's something! Probably the smallest in the group!

So....all you London'ish people....ready for a meet up yet????? PLEASE!!!???

magnolia1 · 09/06/2007 23:21

Blimey Calm, didn't realise it had been that long. Hope it all went ok for yo. So where are you now?
I am still up for a meet. In fact doing an evening wimbledon meet with a few other mumsnetters. Will be my 1st one

jabberwocky · 10/06/2007 03:23

Hey calm! I have been wondering when you'd be back. I'm so envious of 4 months in the caribbean

Add me to the list of bonked babies. I waited too late to stop putting ds2 down on the bed for his afternoon nap. He rolled off on Monday He's OK but I was pretty traumatized. It was just so nice to snuggle up with him and nap together. But then I would usually get up before he did and there you go...

Will catch up properly later I hope.

jabberwocky · 10/06/2007 03:24

Gawd, I'm such a ditz. Just read your post more carefully

So, errr, glad the move went fairly well.

Indith · 10/06/2007 10:26

Hello Calm! Good to see you back, certainly hope I don't have to wait 8 weeks for internet when I move soon, not sure I'd cope!

(lol at Jabber)

Mind you 4 months in the sun...hmmmm

Ds had me up 3 times again last night...growing? hot and thirsty? or just a big boy arriving at 5 months and counting down the days til solids? We shall see.

I went out last night! Was 'Castle Day' which involved spending the day sitting on the grass in the castle courtyard listening to live music, a quick trip home for me to put ds to bed then back out. Still came home for 10.30 though as was expecting ds to wake.

jabberwocky · 10/06/2007 17:25

Sounds fun, Indith! I took the boys to a Middle Eastern Culteral Festival yesterday. Sounded like a great idea at the time...I loaded up my two boys, bf and her two boys, drove an hour and got there at the halfway point - just in time for them to announe that the dancers we came to see were done!! Boys were not amused at the whole thing (neither were we) but then we realized that we were close to a Mexican popsicle stand. A cucmber/pepper one for me and mango for ds1 and everyone came home happy.

Oh and ds2 had been sleeping beautifully but has now been waking at least twice again. 6 month growth spurt?

GlassSlipper · 10/06/2007 20:47

hi everyone, we've been to a christening today and had a lovely time. Both DDs were great but fell aslseep in the car on the way home.

DD2 is like me. She doesnt like the heat much and she loves her food. lol. She had crusts of ciabatta off my plate today and had great fun sucking them to death!! And this was after to Jars of baby food.

She is breastfeeding more regularly too at the mo so I wondered about a 6 month growth spurt? Do they have one?

accessorizewithbabysick · 10/06/2007 21:08

I am sooo behind, not going to attempt to respond individually (tho Spina, I'm really glad you made it back, thought you'd disappeared for good). I have self-inflicted lack of sleep and didn't nod off until 2am last night after an asthma attack & lots of stressing about returning to work. Have just had a fight with dp about it as he can't understand why I'm emotional about leaving my baby at nursery at all.
Anyone feel drowning in chores, laundry etc? They were both up at 6.30 this morning (I know, I know, it's a lie in for some, I'm not complaining!) and by 8 there was a large mound of clothes to wash already that had been sicked, weed or pooed on. DS1 had 3 trouser changes & 6 pant changes, I'm on top no.3 and ds2 I lost track of by midday. I've been trying so hard to keep on top of it that I fainted last night in ds1's room after sprinting around madly all afternoon. And this is only to get the basics done, my standards are not high! How how how on earth do any of you manage with a) more children and/or b) no sleep!!!
Still, I'm just tired and grumpy so I'll slope off....

Gloria42 · 10/06/2007 21:12

Hi everyone, been lurking for ages now and keeping up with everyone's progress but just had to post today - DS has cut first tooth ! And he was so brave too, no trouble at all (obviously except for the sea of dribble pouring from his lovely mouth and an inescapable urge to chew on anything in 50cm range!!!). Straneg thing is that I felt weird all day, do you think it's posssible that I picked up on what was happening to him????

He's so cute now, keeps exploring the new sensation with his tongue!!
