I was brave and started a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hair sandwiches, yuk! Started shedding here too, but not too badly as yet

dd1 also more testing, more needy, more up and down than pre-dd2....thankfully, she was dead easy to start with, because this is plenty enough increase in acting up for me: I'm a wimp. I've often heard the six month thing -its when the babes start to move, roll, crawl, etc that they become real threats to the older one. And reality has sunk in - they are not going away in a hurry

I usually have some help on a Thursday (no nursery day) but help has caught my nasty virus and is too ill to come. She's right to stay home, and I told her to, but oh how I wish I could phone my employer when feeling like I did last weekend and then stay in bed!

Elibean · 17/05/2007 15:56

5am? I remember when dd1 used to get up at 6am, and we'd crawl down to watch noddy....Castles, you have my sympathy and admiration. 7am is early for me (but then again, we're on mediterannean schedules here - dd1 goes to bed between 8 and 8.30pm).

Summer definitely harder, in terms of getting LOs to sleep in...

babypowder · 17/05/2007 16:46

Eli, we are clearly both in the same timezone!

I've managed to get heaps done today. DD1 was at a friends after nursery, so I've:

-cleaned the bathrooms
-cleared and dusted the bedrooms
-washed nappies
-got to the bottom of the ironing pile
-tidied downstairs
-cleared out the fridges (why do grapes always fall out of the bags and into the most difficult places to clean?)
-made an apple crumble and custard for pud
-and participated in 2 teleconferences

So all I have to do tomorrow is whack the hoover around. Yay! Yesterday, a failed SAHM, today a domestic goddess

accessorizewithbabysick · 17/05/2007 18:15

must have been the condensed milk, bp. Can you come round to mine now?

SachaF · 17/05/2007 19:20

BP - Go Supermum!
My day started well, nappies washed, went to singing, went for a walk, then watched a lot of The OC whilst feeding and holding him to sleep as he'd wake up every time I put him down. Actually quite enjoyable to do nothing! On demand is great! (managed to sneak some ironing in as well)
DH out at a work do tonight so microwaved left overs mean no effort required!

accessorizewithbabysick · 17/05/2007 20:05

It's 8 o'clock, both ds's asleep, house (aside from kitchen which I cleaned up whilst they were watching night garden) a bomb-site. I just don't think I care anymore. Feeding on demand here a completely nightmare, hourly most of the day unless I can persuade him to have a nap in which case 90 minutes. I feed when I leave the house, when I get to the supermarket after dropping off ds1 at nursery, feed when finished supermarket shop, 15 min nap in the car, feed when I get home. Arrrrrghgghghghghghg.

Elibean · 17/05/2007 20:09

BP, am going to freeze-dry you and Indith and market you as a Supermumming Tonic (been watching too much Apprentice, maybe)

I've managed to make a cake, tidy up enough to stay on top of things, sort the laundry, do another load, handle a lunchtime playdate, and phone two people I owed calls to. Not great, not bad - but bear in mind dd2 requires seven, yes, seven doses of meds over the course of the day now.

And has a sore red bum from penicillin induced runs, and bright pink tops from penicillin spit, and no sign of improving blotches yet

But has had three naps for the third day in a row, and is sleeping much better: could this be a routine she's getting herself into?!

Elibean · 17/05/2007 20:11

((((AWBS))))) you are doing amazingly for someone with baby attached hourly: I'd be doing nothing but stuff face with chocolate by now. Hope you get a good night's kip.

accessorizewithbabysick · 17/05/2007 20:15

7 doses of meds, eli, goodness, when do things get better?? Routine sounds great tho

Was just heading for the choccie when waylaid by mumsnet

Indith · 17/05/2007 20:22

Hello, I should be doing work until Hustle but my friend has phoned so I'm on the phone while she rants about in laws. Could be a while.

Elibean · 17/05/2007 22:18

AQ, have stuffed face with chocolate in spite of ?? routine, no shame at all

accessorizewithbabysick · 17/05/2007 22:20

God I love fruit and nut What's your indulgence elibean?

Elibean · 17/05/2007 22:35

whatever is to hand

I have a leaning towards G&B milk, or anything milk/dark mixed though.

dh brought home a box of Lindt ball thingies tonight.....nice man.

castlesintheair · 18/05/2007 07:18

I can see myself in the reflection of a photo on the window sill and I look like an old hag of about 100 years old

DD2 has decided to join DD1 in waking up all night (or so it seems). She has got a bit of a cold though so I'll forgive her. I think I shall give up on sleep now and work on improving my zombie status.

GlassSlipper · 18/05/2007 08:02

lol @ you lot.

DD has slepth though 3 nights in a row so i think she has finally cracked it. yay.

my house is also a bomb site so i'm going to try and blitz when DD1 is at preschool today.

eli - hope DDs rash clears soon.

Elibean · 18/05/2007 08:58

Thanks, GS - no worse this morning, but the poor old thing smells like a medicine bottle, must be coming out of every pore! Fingers crossed. And hurrah for your dd

1.30am, and 5.30am, but only for a few minutes feed then back to sleep fast each time. Not bad...

Castles, bummer...but welcome to zombie land...

Elibean · 18/05/2007 08:58

..and hope her cold goes away soon. When is summer, again?!?

babypowder · 18/05/2007 09:27

DD1 has come down with a humdinger of a cold as well. How can this be? It's May, for heaven's sake. (If she gives it to me I'll scream )

Castles, my DH bought me that Boots Protect and Perfect serum, saying 'this might help' He should be able to walk again any day now.

Indith · 18/05/2007 09:56

Mmmm chocolate.

Sleep vibes being returned to all those that need them, quick feed at 4 today then slept til 7.30. He is getting good at this. This I can live with for a fair old while.

Ds has a new trick. Its called pretending he can stand up. He can manage it for a few moments too the little whatsit (either leaning slightly on something or holding something). He can push himself up from sitting on my lap. Grrr, today he was holding onto a chair, let go, wavered for a few second then fll forwards and bumped his head on the chair. To my shame all I could do was laugh while he cried!

Would someone please come lecture my baby on what he should be doing at this age please? Nice simple things that don't involve accidents or movement. I got him a bumbo because he wanted to sit up all the time, now he's not sure about that he thinks standing is the way to go. Honestly these babies are laws unto themselves.

SachaF · 18/05/2007 10:54

That'll be why he's sleeping so well then Indith, he thinks he's older than he is!!!
Chocolate - the whole G&B dark chocolate range is good for me! and montezuma's dark choc with geranium and orange - far nicer than it sounds!

castlesintheair · 18/05/2007 11:34

BP. My DH said he wants to send me to the paint shop

Indith, DD2 also stands up in the Bumbo I bought her and falls out. She's being doing this since I bought it 6 weeks ago. A friend said they are good for the bath so maybe it won't be a complete waste.

Is anyone else's LO crawling? Because mine is

Still at least it's sunny.

Indith · 18/05/2007 11:57

Thats probably it Sacha! Its sit on mummy's lap, lean forwards and stand up, stand until tired, sit, fuss because wants to be standing again. I'll swap you my stander for your crawler castles! At least a crawler can romp around a baby proofed space, I fear concussion if I don't keep a hold on this one today. Still maybe will be like rolling, he couldn't work out how to get further than his side so gave up on it all

Cocobabe · 18/05/2007 12:05

Hello all ...

Was out most of y'day , dd1 decided to skive nursery and come out with me & ds to town , my workplace to show ds to everyone - dd thought it was great prodding at my woobly tum saying ds came out of there !,home for lunch then park , then bike activity outside my house which neighbour( who has 2 kids) came out and we had a nice proper adult natter !.

Ds seems to have changed his routine by going to bed earlier at 8.30 ( previously 10pm) but now wakes up twice in night and each time he has feed and takes awhile to resettle him back to bed (up to an hr). then wake for day between 7-8am . Previiusly he only woke once for feed then wake for day at 7am ...think i'd preferred the old routine where i feel less tired !

{{{get well vibes }}} to those bit poorly ..hope you all feeling bit better today

Cocobabe · 18/05/2007 12:08

DS not standing up yet (phew!)..he can sit unaided for a few mins then he sways sideways flat on his mat - he seems to think its funny when i catch him sideways !when es lying on mat he rolls over to side and does that alot and seems to move round his mat 360oc doing this !

castlesintheair · 18/05/2007 12:29

Indith, DD2 is also standing up and sitting! It's just not on, DS did all these things really late and I was hoping for another lazy baby. I wonder if it's having older siblings and wanting to join in with them as DD1 was early too, though not this early. I'm just about to lower her cotbed down a few levels as I'm worried she'll fall out

Does anyone else with older DCs have a crawler/sitter/stander as well?
