I was brave and started a new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Cocobabe · 16/05/2007 16:37

oh my god! 18months jabber ?!..guess i'd better brace myself for a long run of hair loss - at this rate ill be bald !!

Elibean · 16/05/2007 17:55

Oooh, you lot are making my mouth water

dd is still on mostly babyrice, with a bit of apple or pear added, stage. She's eaten a bit of squash/sweet potato with moderate enthusiasm, but seems uninterested in carrot so far - and hates apple on its own. Avocado (straight from the fruit) she loves. And someone gave her a Heinz organic biscuit today - she loved that, but then promptly threw up

She has some bright red spots around her chin and mouth now, so off to GP this morning who thinks its a mini infection (impetigo-like, though not impetigo??) and has given her Canesten HC and some penicillin. The latter is bright pink, stains everything in sight, tastes disgusting, and is supposed to be given four - grrr, FOUR - times a day which takes forever. Especially since she's still on reflux meds three times a day. Life is one long succession of syringes full of yucky stuff which gets spat back out.

Still, solids are definitely helping her digestion...and hence sleep...I think...

Oli, congrats on having sold your house!

Elibean · 16/05/2007 17:56

castles...me, too, but I wish you had some help, or that I could magically send you mine (though she's caught our colds now, and sort of wants looking after herself ). Are you getting a break at half term?

Elibean · 16/05/2007 17:57

Indith and GS - hurrah! Gives me hope. hope, but hope.

glassslipper · 16/05/2007 18:11

eli - i have found dd much more able to take medicine from a spoon now she's on solids.

Elibean · 16/05/2007 19:47

I was hoping for that, GS...so far, she just blows raspberries, the minx. But then again, she's not very practised at solids yet - still learning to swallow more than about 50%. Will try spoon again in a day or two though, thanks!

increasingly unable to keep up with you. ds2 sleeps like the dead, but i have chronic insomnia, worried about dp's businesses etc.

BLW sounds like a very messy palaver, but I'll give it a go. Surely you can't give them everything like that tho' like peas? Who is aitch and can someone link to it? Going to start next week as ds only a couple of weeks off 6 months. I cannot cope with the amount of feeds every day for much longer, impossible to go anywhere or do anything! He managed 2 decent naps today, but then fed hourly the rest of the time.

My hair still falling out in clumps and long may it continue, so darned thick I can barely get a brush through it. I am an official boofhead. Surely the loss is only the extra hair that grew whilst pg, so not to worry?

jabber, absolutely agree with you re: refresher potty training, 3 pooey pants today (and mars bar size ones urggghghg tmi). We have had occasional success this week, but I'm just resigning myself to another month of it at least & buying more pants!

All those with sleepless nights

Indith · 16/05/2007 20:03

here you go

Aitch is a mumsnetter and her blog is def a great place for BLW info.

Ds hardly slept today then we went swimming, he had a great time, came home and crashed out for 2 hours until I decided to be evil mum and wake him for bathtime. Just put him to bed, decided to keep him up a bit to avoid him decided his 12 hours sleep started at 4pm today! (In the hope that he repeats his sleeping without a break thing anyway!)

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/05/2007 20:08

thnx indith

sorry forgot to reply to your offer, didn't i? I had both of them today, could have been chaos! haven't taken either of them swimming ever, bad mommy. I might take ds2 swimming soon tho. This talk of long naps appeals v.much. Back to study now?

Indith · 16/05/2007 20:19

Yup back to the books....at least until The Apprentice! Well have to have rewards don't I!

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/05/2007 20:23

Darn, completely missed it this series, one of the few things dp & I watch together.

BLW site v.interesting, certainly sounds easier to fit in with family life as today ds1 had some carrot sticks as part of his lunch anyway, I could just have steamed a few extra for ds2. Hmmmm.

babypowder · 16/05/2007 20:42

AWBS (still think of you as AQ!) - I've only taken DD1 swimming a few times, and I feel so guilty about it. But it has been traumatic each time I get her near a pool. I was a real waterbaby when I was young, and I can't understand why she finds it so frightening. Anyway, I spoke to a really nice lady who teaches baby swimming, and she's given me some tips to help DD1 get used to and enjoy the water. I'm going to try it with both of them while we're on hols. Which sadly means pouring my woobly tum into a swimsuit and exposing myself to others

Indith, I'm sure that you are actually several women, all using the same alias. No single person could possibly do so many things successfully. Guides and Rainbows and uni and baby and swimming and ...

Could someone please send me a huge dose of patience? DD1 is sorely trying mine (clearly she is now ready for school) I've just had one of those days where I don't stop from morning till night, the house looks like a bomb has hit it and supper was sadly disappointing. I even resorted to the tumble drier as I had left it too late to hang washing outside. I am a complete failure as a SAHM!

babypowder · 16/05/2007 20:43

wobbly

Did I mention that I made the mistake of buying one of those squeezy bottles of condensed milk? I've had several tablespoons of it today!

accessorizewithbabysick · 16/05/2007 20:54

Yum, bp, didn't know it came in squeezy bottles. My treats of choice still MILO and teacakes, gorgeous!

You have 2 small children to look after, impossible to also be perfect at cooking, laundering (although nothing wrong with the dryer!) and housekeeping. I know the feeling, there is literally NO time for these things & when there is you're exhausted! DS1 trying my patience a great deal, shall go and look at some photos of him smiling to make myself feel better about him. Give yourself a break, have some more condensed milk and some wine too while you're at it & hugs

I can vouch for indith, I've met her & she's only 1 person

babypowder · 16/05/2007 22:24

I had comforted myself with the theory about a multitude of women all named Indith

Just watched The Apprentice. I'd love to see them do what even we normal mums do - just for one day! That's real project management (and you won't believe how successfully I have branded DD1 as a gifted angel!) How I would enjoy sacking each and every one of them ...

Blush
Indith · 17/05/2007 09:31

My flat is a tip, I've not cleaned in ages, I'm blatently getting a 2.2, Guids I just turn up to and I have plenty of help with Rainbows.

Anyway I'm more in awe of anyone with more than on of these small people

Indith · 17/05/2007 09:32

By the way BP Woobly is a great word, far better than wobbly for a post baby tummy, really emphasises that jelly type squish I think

babypowder · 17/05/2007 09:36

Just what is MILO? I've been hearing about it for months now and still haven't identified it?!

castlesintheair · 17/05/2007 10:05

BP, AQ, Jabber & anyone else with a 3 or 4 year old - I'm having a difficult time with DD1 at the moment (3.3 yrs). I think she's got really jealous suddenly (seem to remember this happening with DS for about a month when DD1 was 6 months) and is lashing out and screaming. Also really clingy with me again and I can't leave her. Biting DS and he WON'T retaliate, trying to murder DD2. Had 3 accidents in the last 2 days as well and she's been potty trained for ages. Arrrrrrgh!

I'm also really tired as she wakes up about 3 times a night and then all 3 of my DCs get up at 5am every morning. I just don't know when it will end but I am praying ...

magnolia1 · 17/05/2007 10:52

Castles, Know the feeling, dd4 is almost 4 and has become a nightmare
She has always been so good and to be honest I think she has been naughtier the last 2 months than she has in her whole life

babypowder · 17/05/2007 11:12

Snap. DD1 is being really cheeky, not listening to me, answering back (even in front of other people ) I don't know what's brought it on, but I want it to stop NOW.

accessorizewithbabysick · 17/05/2007 14:14

Sympathies, castles bp and magnolia - and hugs! So difficult dealing with a walking talking child who argues the toss on EVERYTHING. we'd had it before with ds1 (ie before ds2 born) so not such a surprise, but every day seems like a battleground sometimes. I could not cope on 5am starts with all 3, that is so tough castles. I'm still trying to write down the 'cute things they say and do' in my little book each night so I don't go to sleep cross. I have been quite a cross mummy of late, just the putting on of the clothes does my head in in the morning!

BP, Milo is a chocolate energy drink (let's face it, sugar drink) which tastes gorgeous. Comes in a green tin, I have gotten it from Tesco before, sure it's available at other supermarkets.

Finally got ds1 off for a nap (he had 20 mins in the car before lunch) so best go do some stuff to my grotty house. Or possibly have a nap. Hmmm.

judemum · 17/05/2007 14:48

hello- been laughing a lot at some of these posts esp at hair loss. we have had to unclog our shower and both basins as all drains blocked with handfuls of hair. even got into ds1's sandwiches and made him wretch .
