Geordie voiceover: Day Two in the Big Boy's Bed

Today, the Big Parents have tried to tire Alexander out by taking him to Edinburgh shopping and to visit Big Auntie Liath and teeny tiny Baby Liath.

6.25pm The Big Car leaves the Big Auntie house.

6.38pm Alexander starts to snore.

7.30pm The Big Car pulls up at the house. Alexander is changed and taken upstairs.

7.35pm Big Mother is in the Big Boys Bed reading Alexander stories.

7.40pm Alexander asks the Big Mother to stay sitting by the bed while he falls asleep.

7.45pm Alexander is running round the bedroom.

7.46pm Alexander is back in the f*cking cot. Big Mother hits the gin.

LTH please take a photo of your "I mean business" look used for ds's moves to bed and post on your profile so I can practice!!!

hi! here i am!!

had a busy day yesterday as took Z swimming for the first time! he really loved it till he did a poo in his swim nappy. fortunately it was all contained but is it true they have to close the pool if a bit of poo escapes? talk about embarassing accidents!! "Baby in the red swimsuit, please leave the pool, you have pooed!" then they seal it off with biohazard tape while all the other LO's and their parents shiver, waiting for the pool to reopen. no?

2Happy, am PMSL at your big bed stories. i 2nd whoever it was who suggested taking the cot down so it's not an option. at the moment all he's learning is that if he plays up enough he'll get to go in the cot. (says she, with NO experience of her own toddler!) dgd both had cot beds, and then dgs had his special bunk bed made by his grandad. any chance of a reward chart? does that work for him? or do the "cots are for babies and you are a BIG BOY so you need to go in the BIG BED!?" let us know how it goes.

hattie2 · 22/04/2007 12:23

yes, it is true they close the pool in case of a poo leak. We went to go swimming a few months ago and they had a sign up saying that the learner pool was closed due to a 'baby hygiene incident'

Nemo2007 · 22/04/2007 12:35

LTH G really looks like you, little cutie though!!!

Well I am shattered, besides the fact I drank a bottle of wine, dh decided he wanted some loving at 1am..ok fair enough I was a bit tipsy. Of course we ahem finished only for him to fall asleep and start snoring and C to wake up..arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh She was a complete nightmare last night and woke up around 2/3 times an HOUR!!! I tried water, rocking, milk, crying..lol nothing worked. Then DH got up with her at 7am only in time to hear DS throw up!!! So got up to help sort out kids while dh stripped ds bed. I then went back to bed at 8-10am so have had a whole 2hrs sleep..lol Feel like a zombie..of course since 8am C has slept peacefully in her basket

REIDmylips · 22/04/2007 12:37

sorry too hijak, but are you still here nemo?

Dragonhart · 22/04/2007 12:43

Decided that luke is not broken but posessed. Last night woke at 12 going mental. Screaming. Arms flying. More screaming. Hitting. Did I mention the screaming? I was seriously worried that next door would ring the police it was that bad. Sounded like I was battering him.

Can all you experienced mums tell me if teething in the back teeth is that bad? He has been really tired for about the last week. Had a temp at the start, but didnt seem to have anymore symptoms. Know his back bottom right tooth is coming and he wont let me go near it except with teething gel. But he has never been that bad with other teeth. Just one or two nights here and there. Does anyone think it cou.d be something else? I would go to the doctors but I think he would just think that I was going crazy as there is nothing actually wrong with him (or at least there doesnt seem to be).

Typical that Dh was away. Ended up falling asleep on his bedroom floor then waking up at 4 and moving into my room. Just managed to drop off on the sofa as they are both asleep now and MIL rang to see how I had coped!

Nemo2007 · 22/04/2007 12:45

DH molars are a nightmare..but of course it is a square tooth coming through rather than just a slit of a normal one. They take longer to come through and can be half through for a couple of weeks. DD1 is currently getting her 4th molar and her first started coming through 6wks ago and is still not all the way out.

Dragonhart · 22/04/2007 12:45

Sounds like it was a night for it last night! Full moon?

Dragonhart · 22/04/2007 12:47

Oh no Nemo [desperate emocicon].

Nemo2007 · 22/04/2007 12:49

Sorry DH personally would give him either medised or nurofen of a night when he goes to bed to help ease the pain. Once it has cut a little bit then it is not as painful for them.

2Happy · 22/04/2007 15:31

DH I second nemo, molars are a bastard. ds1 still only has 4 pre-molars, none since last summer, not looking to more coming. One of his abcessed, really nasty. Deffo give pain relief - just think how miserable adults get with wisdom teeth!

I agree with what you're all saying about the cot. I think we'll have to do what you did, E&H, with the rapid return. But dh is just a bit half-hearted about it. Fair enough he doesn't like to hear ds1 upset, but FFS we're using the cot from my parent's house and dsis is coming up in 2 weeks so she needs it back and ds1 just has to learn to cleep in the big bed. dh just keeps saying he (ds1, but I think he aslo means dh!) is tired and needs sleep. Well yes, but we also need him to sleep in the big bed Did anyone mention a united front from the parents at all??!

DH - sorry you had to go through such a horrible night on your own. at mil waking you up, they always phone at the worst times!
PCF - time to get a better alarm clock, like one that douses dh with icy water as soon as he tries to hit the snooze button
Mrs Carrot - great name!! Only 3 days, fantastic!
Nemo - what a crappy night for you, too Hope you get some shut eye tonight (and no more wine for you ! )
E&H - hope the laminate laying has gone well. I now have a mental image of a Handy Andy who has a farmer-esq accent
UD - 11-7, that's great!
MoM - great to "hear" from you x
Wilkie - hope you get a better night tonight

Hello one and all [waves]

Well my little lauren has been a right old mardy arse today think I need to change her milk to aptimal she has cow and gate at the minute but im having loads of problems especially at about 2 in the morning.

Mrscarrot not long now just remember to savour every minute as the actual day flies by.

Eah up at 5 then laying laminate are you mad woman ? Eah sorry cant get picture messages on my phone as it fell off the back of a lorry la la la say no more.

Wilkie think j and lauren are twins what with there crap feeding and then ellie and aidan are twins .

Back teeth are so painfull aidan suffered really bad so just keep the medicane up and try ashton and parsons great for calming them down and sooths the pain.

in a morning .

laughalot · 22/04/2007 18:53

Whenever I go on msn your are all busy how rude.........

Wilkie · 22/04/2007 19:09

LL - I'm not but you're not signed in...

Wilkie · 22/04/2007 19:10

Grrrr - DH really has 'the kacnk' getting Jacob to sleep. He always goes straight down for him. Do you think it is because I am a bit frazzled by the end of the day and he just likes his daddy at that time??

Most upsetting

Wilkie · 22/04/2007 19:19

'knack' not 'kanck'

Dragonhart · 22/04/2007 19:32

Right, decided that as we will be up and down cos of L's teeth, that we would put him in his 'big boy bed' and kill two birds with one stone. Also DH has next two days off, one to make up for the weekend away and the other to go to my great Aunt's funeral so he can do some of the getting up .

Keep you fingers crossed (although I am cheeting as L is dosed up cos of his teeth ) Good luck 2 happy!

Dragonhart · 22/04/2007 19:37

Wilkie- I get so fed up when dh does that. Often after me spending ages trying to get one of them to sleep, dh gets them to go straight away. I always say it is like loosening the jar lid. You did all the work, then dh takes all the glory!
