Hello all,

2happy it took a while to work (rapid returns) and I spent many a night feeling like my whole evening was spent putting her back but it worked!! Also dh was useless at it as didnt have the patience and kept talking to her grrr, also what I remember abut reading about it the person who starts it that night must continue with it dont swap half way through.

Dragon good luck teething/bed (ellie is just getting her last back tooth at 2.7!!!)

Laughalot it was a pic of e and h in their summer dresses

Cant remember who else has posted now - but hello everyone

My flooring went perfectly did all the cuts and joins and my dad was impressed, have now decided am going to save the money to retile kitchen and thats my next project. DH told me last night that he has booked day off work tomorrow to go out with some of his mates as its st georges day and one of his mates birthday, I am so fed up tat he has wasted a days holiday and he wont't be the couple of hours he says he'll be. Anyway I am going out shopping on my own tomorrow morning to spend some of my birthday money so if I feel like it I may be back in time so he can go,if not I may tell him a time and come home 3 hours later like he does he he he.

theUrbanDryad · 23/04/2007 08:01

hey, how is everyone? we had a bit of a shite night, Zac went down ok at 8, then woke up screaming at half 9 ish, couldn't figure out what was wrong, and took till gone half 10 to settle him again. those of you with bad sleepers will be like, "What's she talking about? Sounds fine to me!" but he is such a good sleeper usually. he's fine this morning, bit grumpy cause he's tired but i'm hoping i can get him to sleep this afternoon while i put his new cot up!!

2Happy - what's the latest installment from the Big Bed house?

DH- how's Luke's tooth doing?

ellieandhattie · 23/04/2007 08:16

Geordie voiceover: Day Three in the Big Boy's Bed

Today, the Big Parents have spent the morning at a vintage tractor/car rally. Big Mother has been reeeeeeeeelly fascinated by the tractors, and didn't yawn once. Honestly.

Big Mother and Big Father have talked about the MN advice, and Big Mother has told Big Father that consitency is important and that, in her opinion, rapid return is going to be necessary.

7.25pm After a lovely bath, it's time for ds1 to go to bed. Big Mother settles down for a long an difficult evening.

7.30pm Big Father comes downstairs. Big Mother is slightly surprised at his early appearance. Big Father reports he was "too tired" to try the bed and just put ds1 into the cot. Big Mother is trying to work out how he's too tired when he had a full night's sleep the night before but she got only 5 and a half hours. Big Mother realises that dh is just too crap and that she's going to have to be the Big Bad Parent as usual. Big Mother then gets another crappy night's sleep with ds2 while dh snores pecefully and undisturbed in the spare bedroom all night. Big Mother is a little peeved

theUrbanDryad · 23/04/2007 09:27

2Happy - maybe you'd better point out that if he won't put ds in the cot, he'd better buy dsis a new cot for when she comes to visit.

have just put some more pics of Z on my profile. he is exceptionally cute....

Lizzzombie · 23/04/2007 09:40

Hi, everyone! We've been away for a wedding this weekend, can't wait to catch up with y'all.
Got the surveyors report through on the house we want...um, er, does anyone know when you should actually be concerned about damp - or does everyones house reports have them?!

LadyTophamHatt · 23/04/2007 10:36

depends what it says Lizzz.

when we sold our last house the surveyor said all hpuses have a certain amount of damp.

What level of survey have you had done?

Lizzzombie · 23/04/2007 10:53

The middle one.
The house is 100 years old or so. So I was assuming that it was going to have various problems, but as I am totally green to this, I am just unsure as to what should be steered clear of or not.
y'know! x

Lizzzombie · 23/04/2007 10:54

ps - LTH - are you 'Emma' on MSN? I am so very confused!

LadyTophamHatt · 23/04/2007 11:11

yes, iam.

going out now, will chat lter

old houses WILL have some damp though

TheShopaholic · 23/04/2007 11:17

Hello everyone, can I join your club??? My DD was born 12 days late at the beginning of January. Thought it was about time I looked for this club even though I've been on Mumsnet for a wee while now. I'm about to have a look through some of the old posts to get a feel for who is here so please be gentle with me til I'm up to speed.

Dragonhart · 23/04/2007 12:18

Course you are welcome shopaholic! Prob will take a while to catch up though. I would just jump in.

2happy. Dismantle it, give it back and then go out for the evening, leaving dh to it. 'Oh dear, my mobile seems to have been switched off all night'

Lizz- We had some damp proof coursing done due to damp for our house and it was not too expensive. I would get someone into the house to quote on what needs doing.

Luke has a rash on his body. May not have been teeth. How do you know if they have measles/chicken pox. Should he get measles anyway if he has had mmr? Had a look on NHS website but he has no other symptoms. Just grumpy and a rash. THought is might be slap cheek as that is around at the mo here but the rash is now on his chest.

Wilkie · 23/04/2007 12:49

Hi Shopaholic, welcome. We are a friendly bunch (well except for UD who is quite aggressive ;) I'm still sporting a black eye from last night Lady UrbanDryad>>>>

EAH - can I cover you in big slobbery kisses for the chocolate you sent. You are so lovely. Will MSN you when you are back from your shopping trip which I hope is going well!!

Laughalot - got the Ashton & Parsons powder which seems to have chilled little man out from a mammoth paddy he was throwing

Lizz - be careful with damp. My ex was a surveyor and it can run into a couple of thousand if the prob is bad. I would get a secondary survey to look at the damp problem to see how extensive it is. Shouldn't cost more than about £200 and WELL WORTH doing!!!!

DH - hope Luke gets better soon bless him

J had a better night last night with a feed at 3am and woke at 7.15am which is loads better than the previous night. I still feel exhausted though, even though DH did the night feed. Have made an appt with Dr for next Mon cos I just don't feel right - very tired, headachy and generally a bit crap. DOn't know whether its my ADs or low iron or something??

laughalot · 23/04/2007 13:54

Dragon lauren has just got over having measles it is very symptomless apparently the main thing they suffer with is a raised tempreture and a rash, loz dident get the temp but had the rash it looked very much like heat rash very sort of pinkish you cannot treat it only give them calpol for the temp hope that helps.

Well let me tell you I had a conversation with our old mate wilkie today and guess what she sounds awfully POSH dont tell her though she might get a complex. Glad the powders helped wilks they are like a wonder drug hee hee.

Mmmmm Eah fancy sending out choccie to wilks and leaving the rest of us out I am going to have to smack your bum little lady can you send me a homebase silver plant pot please . Hope you enjoyed your day.

2Happy loving your stories please dont stop

Shopaholic love the name welcome and brace yourself for some rather heated debates, laughs tears ect and hurry up and get yourself on msn.......... says me who never gets on the bloody thing.

Urban love the pics of zac he is such a cutie.

Well last night loz woke up at 3 I couldnt be arsed to get up to feed her so I shoved her dummy in she woke again at 4.30 so dummy back in again and then it was about 6.30 so I got up and fed my starving dd this proves to me she dosent need that nightime bottle.

Shimmer · 23/04/2007 15:05

helloooo y'all. We're all still in hk but i have lurking for the last few days reading what you've been up to but not much time to write at the mo.

Welcome shopoholic! Prepare to become a MNoholic.

Lizz I'd 2nd what wilkie said about the damp. i would get it checked in more depth. the last house we had was about 100 years old and we ignored a bit of damp in the survey and ended up paying loads for damp-proofing (which also meant lots of new plastering!) if you can get any money off the price now for something like that it's worth a try i reckon.

PMSL at Big Boys Bed Saga 2Happy. Hope things are improving...

Only a couple of days to go MrsCarrot. Hope you're not getting too stressed. I'm so excited for you!

DH hope Luke's doing okay

So you've all been phoning now too eh? Not long and we're all going to be living in one big MN house!!

Has anyone who's been doing a dreamfeed dropped this feed yet or know when they're going to? I feed freddie at 7 and then again at 10 and then at 6:30ish, but he never really seems that hungry and i'm thinking i may see what happens if i don't do his dreamfeed. I did read though that LOs tummies aren't mature enough to go 12 hours until they're started on solids (no comment there!!) Any ideas? I could not feed him at 7 and just do 1 feed round 8-9 and see if he makes it through til 6:30? That would only be 4 feeds a day though... doesn't seem much, although he is having a lot of HBM at the moment as for some craaaaazy reason its easier to get out here

feb · 23/04/2007 15:18

hello all, my son was born 3 weeks early on 31st jan so, if you have room for one more, i just made it into the jan club!

feb · 23/04/2007 15:25

shimmer, at the risk of sounding smug in my very 1st post on this thread i think i may have cracked the dreamfeed thing!
my ds was feeding roughly every 3 hours during the day, with feeds at 8pm, dreamfeed @ midnight and up at 6am. However, i've been offering him feeds every 2 hours for the last week or so (so he is still getting the same amount of milk in a 24 hour period), and last night he slept thru from 8.30 to 6.30! fingers crossed its not just a 1 off! i feel ike a changed woman!

Wilkie · 23/04/2007 15:33

No one speak to Feb pleaes - she's far to smug Welcome welcome to the madhouse

Laughalot - I'M NOT POSH!!!!!! Please don't say that you'll give me a frigging complex (cos I need something else to worry about) heh heh heh. But then you know what they say, private school girls are the filthiest

Shimmer - hope HK is going well. An MN house - can you imagine it!!! We'd have the early weaning corner , the attachment parenting room, the breastfeeding cafe and the controlled crying bedroom. Ha ha ha ha - we'd all get along SOOOOOOOO well

Well, the Ashton and Parsons powder has me slightly confused/concerned/relieved. He has just slept for 1 and a half hours then I really had to make him wake up (this never happend in the Wilkie household). Does the powder make them sleepy??? Can't decide if I like it or if it worries me.

2Happy · 23/04/2007 15:33

I think all bbies are different, Shimmer (yeah that old chestnut again!). I was looking back - ds1 went from 7-7 from 12w, and though I tried he would not take a dream feed, so he obv could cope fine for 12hrs no food. So I tried not giving ds2 dream feed last night and guess what? He had me up at 4.30am for a nosh!

Shopaholic - welcome, and congrats on the dd. Do you have any other kids?

laughalot - are you going to try the dummy again tonight then?

wilkie - sorry you're not feeling right, hope the doc can shed some light, in the meantime keep eating E&H's choc!! (mine must be lost in the post, along with young Miss Carrot's invite!

DH - you are full of good ideas!! Like it, in fact have a work night out in couple of weeks...hmm what's the bets dh'll be working?
Also, slapped cheek rash can spread from the face to the body

Lizzz - getting more info good idea I reckon. The survey for our house (middle one also) was shit and missed loads of stuff (like a huge leak and the house not being earthed)

UD - also a bloody good idea from you! I will point that out to dh when I next see him! What did you decide in the end about dh's godfather's funeral?

OP posts:
2Happy · 23/04/2007 15:36

Bugger, it took me so long to write that post I missed another 3 posts!

Welcome, Feb. I'm not sure I can talk to someone who had their baby 3 weeks early though - due in Feb and you still had yours before mine! Grr... (not at all bitter, oh no)

OP posts:
2Happy · 23/04/2007 15:38

Lizzzombie · 23/04/2007 15:45

2 Happy - your house wasnt earthed?! wtf? was it floating?

I dropped the dream feed last night as I couldnt be bothered and thought I'd see what happend. DJ had a feed at 6ish went to bed at 7.45 and slept through till 5.30am! Probably would have slept till 6am, but my tits were ready to explode so I woke him up early.

I've brought some of those Ashton Kutcher Powder things too. Not sure what to do with them, just thought I'd better stock up.
Oh oh oh! and also, my baby love nest pillow thing just arrived. Its supposed to be used on babies 0-4 months. Hmmm, maybe we'll get a month use of it and his wonky head will go back to being round!

PMSL Lizzz, unearthed in an electrical sense - a house with a leaking pipe that was also live, marvellous. Congrats on the night, though!

PCF - you're not pg, but the cycle's coming back. Hope you've kept some tests back for next month!

not read through yet just saying hi and moaning..C woke up again loads last night then we had DS join us which means by 5am I still hadnt had more than 45mins sleep and was crying. Am loosing the plot now as I dont know what to do with C. By this age we had moved both the others into their own room and even though DD1 used to wake a lot due to reflux she was quickly settled where C wants to play. She is not even overly sleeping in the day so I dont get it at all. If I have her in the bed she sleeps and wakes about twice but then I dont feel anymore rested as I have a bad back from holding her in sleep. sorry just moaning away think to make it worse AF turned up this morning making me feel grotty and dh has just told me he has to go into work on traing next week on his days off[one of which I have Hv coming to do Cs jabs and also to do As preschool jabs which I am not looking forward to]
