oh god Im so sorry it was so sudden. My love to you and your family

Im getting worried to hear the phone here as weve found out a few days before I went to NY that a close family friend has pancreatic cancer and its already spread to his liver. Its also very sudden diagnoses and hes had it for a year without knowing . We heard it was inoperable at passport control apon retrun so we came crashing down with a big thud (we all sobbed there and then , everyone was staring at us). Hes already had to have a blood transfusion and hes really deteriorated the last few days. We are all in shock.

Hello to all btw

Ive been catching up with things last few days.

Had a great time away, missed my girls awful , especially as dd2 had chicken pox, it was day 6 when I went which can be the worst bit and she was COVERED some HUGE too, how guilty do you think I felt , I cried all the way on the plane. It was soo nice to just think about myself , but I think my sisters and I all got on top of each other a bit to much!

Dh coped well I think or so hes says , some of it thinks he just wants to prove his better than me at all this parenting thing.

I feel quite blue & I keep having to just sleep suddenly at all different times of the day cos of thejet lag (and having to be up at night with dd1 and 2).Im trying to get as much rest to get over it as quickly as possible. I was exhausted before I went now I dont know what I am!!

Hope your all doing well and having a good Sat so far. Its super lazy here , all in our pj's. Ive had to sleep when dd2 sleeps and I still sleep like a log at night.

booby hope you found a way to contact your brother.

Nbg hope you go house sorted last night

Granny crackers glad ds's op went ok andhes recovering well, bless.

Snowboo · 05/05/2007 21:59

Oh hoppy, i'm so sorry. Don't really know what to say but we're here if you need us.
((((((((hugs))))))))

Nbg · 06/05/2007 14:09

Oh goodness Hoppy This must be an awful shock for you all.

Hope you are all ok.

hoppybird · 07/05/2007 11:17

Thank you for your kind thoughts everyone. Today would have been my MIL's 52nd birthday

There is so much stuff to sort out - unfortunately, she lived in rented accommodation, so we have limited time to do everything. It was pretty depressing going there yesterday, and I found going through food cupboards to be particularly sad. She was aware her illness was terminal, and made sure she'd seen all her friends and done all the things she wanted to do before her treatments started, in case she'd be to ill afterwards, but none of us would ever have thought she wouldn't have even made it to her birthday.

Melsy - so very sorry to hear about your friend - sudden diagnoses are an awful shock, particularly when so advanced. I wish all your family the strength to get through this difficult time.

Cheerier, more normal news - my dd is finally sitting on her own - still overbalancing sometimes, so I have to surround her with cushions! She still hasn't quite mastered rolling so calls when she gets stuck. At this rate, she'll be starting to crawl within a couple of months!

We visited ds's potential new schools last week and after hours of debating we made a decision! Our property selling/buying seem to be going fine, but no dates for moving yet. Before her treatment, my MIL requested to see our new house, just in case, and the owners kindly agreed. I'm so glad she was able to do this.

sarahlou1uk · 07/05/2007 16:22

Hoppy - there are no words that I can say that will comfort you. Lots of hugs and good vibes coming your way.

Melsy - again, hugs coming your way

On a lighter note, don't know if anyone of you would be interested, but I have found a site where if you register and refer a friend or two, you can claim free nappies and wipes! link here

Hope everyone else is ok. Molly screaming for her tea at minute to this is a quick message. Will hopefully be back on later

sarahlou1uk · 07/05/2007 16:24

Try this here

Nbg · 07/05/2007 16:28

How sad Hoppy
Such a young woman she was too.

Melsy, hope things are ok your end.

Sarahlou, the link doesnt work but is it the one that was on a thread on here a few days ago? I had a look but you had to join up to something and spend money as well as refer friends so I didnt bother.
If its a different one, I'm there!

Well, we had no choice but to order a babydan. Ellis just insists on climbing, tiping the dogs water everywhere abd eating their biscuits [yuck]. Only problem is that you have to call babydan to get the wall fixings if your using it as a room divider
Another £70 gone!

sarahlou1uk · 07/05/2007 22:20

NGB - don't think you have to spend money, just click on a few links.
We had a Babydan for Jack 4 years ago but to be honest, it was easier to put the dog in there rather than Jack! Ours is somewhere up in the loft!

BigHotMama · 07/05/2007 22:25

Oh no Hoppy! Thats such sad news hun, sending my love for you and your dh to get through this. She sounds like such a brave lady for doing those things before she passed, almost as if she knew? ((Big Hugs)) x

Melsy sorry to hear your bad news too . Hope the jetlag is getting better.

Booby, definately up for a meet up at the bullring, I have to go there sometime this or next week to find ds an outift for his christening are you free at all?

Well my holiday to Cornwall was fab, the wetaher was glorious and I even managed to tan my face and arms but thats about it my legs are still whiter than white and my belly was kept well hidden lol. The caravan was gorgeous and modern andwe took ds swimming where he loves splashing and tries to kick his legs bless. As you can guess we had few late nights and Jackson's routine is out the window he usually in bed for 7-8pm and now wont go to bed until 9-10 so this week hoping to get back to normal, if possible ha!
Jackson has learnt to pull himself up onto furniture and tries to climb up my legs. We cant leave him anywhere as he's crawling pretty quick now and just wants to grab everything in sight and loves trying to walk when we hold hid hands, his feet are all over the place. We've set up his travelcot in the living room now if i need to leave him for few seconds so i know he's safe. Found him standing up in his cot yesterday so we have to lower it once again before he leans out.

God am i rambling again?! Havent had a good read through yet so hope to catch up sometime this week, hope everyone is well and the babas are getting cuter by the day x

Nbg · 08/05/2007 07:21

Glad to hear you had a good time BHM. We're hoping to get away for a few days this summer and thinking of maybe doing a little caravan park in the south.
Mrsrecycle on here has a caravan and lets it out to mnetters so have been in touch with her.

The babydan should be arriving today!
I might set it up on cage mode lol but I dont think master Ellis will approve
Will no doubt have to wait an age to get the wall fixings.
Nothing is safe anymore. Ive stupidly left glasses of water tucked away but he seems to find them. He only want to drink from them and his little mouth goes ten to the dozen but they're too heavy and it goes all over him and the floor

Come on babydan!

grannycrackers · 08/05/2007 08:21

nbg - just picturing your lo trying to drink out of glasses - so cute!
hoppy, so sorry to hear about your mil. she sounded very brave and so young
melsy, sorry to hear about your friend and hope you're over the jet lag
we have free real nappies in jersey. all parents can claim a voucher for £20 to spend on cloth nappies. it's sponsored by our environment department. i use a mixture of cloth and disposable, eg disposable while baby's ill etc, otherwise cloth.
we have spent all day yesterday in hospital as ds is not well. he is being watched carefully in case his fever etc is anything to do with his operation, but so far looks like just some strange virus. full results of samples will come through today, so we're hoping it's just a bug making him ill.
we have another holiday here tomorrow - liberation day

PinkTulips · 08/05/2007 18:14

o god, so much sad news

hoppy, i'm so very sorry. so shocking that she had so little time after the diagnosis but i'm so glad for you and dh and the kids that you at least had that last even ing with her {{{hugs}}} to you all and i hope dh is ok

mels, that's awful about your family friend, i hope he gets a bit more time with his friends and loved ones to say goodbye

granny, ds will be in my thoughts and prayers, i hope he's home with you soon safe and well.

we're just in the door from our very wet weekend away. it all went well and ds slept through the night while sharing a room with dd so he's been booted out of our room now.

it's mine and dp's 5 year anniversary today so kep your fingers crossed the little terrors sleep and we ge to make good use of our newly baby free bedroom

olivo · 08/05/2007 19:28

Pink, happy anniversary, and congrats on ds sleeping through! enjoy your evening
Grannycrackers, hope ds gets better soon. hope the hospital are as lovely as they were with us and dd.
BHM, glad you had a good trip away - I'm hanging for a holiday and i've only been back at work 3 weeks!
its been a strange old week. dd has bronchiolitis and last week scared me by starting to go blue two nights in a row; luckily, her inhaler sorted her out. she is on fine form now though and we have finally dropped the dreamfeed and she is sleeping right through - hurray!. work is really getting to me but we have tomorrow off and its not long till half term. decided not to apply for the part time job but have spoken to my boss about dropping some hours next year - hopefully they'll manage something, even though it is quite late notice.
hope everyone else and their babes are well.

melsy · 08/05/2007 19:51

All the babys ill or having been ill I wish them well now or speedy recoverys. It seems theres been weeks of it during our season change. My two just have spots that need some time to heal.

nbg thats soo funny about the water glass and ellis, I can just see it. They are cheeky these no 2 kids ! dd2 does much more daring and cheeky stuff than dd1 did!

Pink , so glad ds is doing some all nighters ! It such a relief isnt it. Congrats on anniversary. Do you have anice meal at home planned ?

Sorry works proving hard Olivo, good to ask for a reduction. Itrs realy hard to juggle so much. How did you stop the dreamfeed : cold or gradually , Ive got a thread on it (cant remember how we did it with dd1) , and weve been reducing it since Friday. I feel strange as she took 7 oz , so I felt good that she took her 20oz + a day. Now Im not sure how much shes taking. Im hoping it will adjust to bottles during the day , although we dropped the 11 during the day too as shes been faffing with all her day bottles.

Thankyou for all your thoughts about our friends dad , havent heard much, hoping the chemo and medication will reduce it and prolong his life quite a bit. Think he will have to look at his diet quite seriously now. Its just that prostate is the worst type and he seems to be having clots everywere , which could be the thing that gets him before the cancer . That will be an awful awful tradegy to bare in the community here.

Had a rotten night , due to old panic and fears coming back, only went to hospital for my pre op assesmant today and I couldnt sleep a wink last night. Hardly ate anything and stil feel rough now. Ive phoned my EFT women and shall be booking in a session pre op in 3 weeks , as I must find a way through the panic. I think it may be mortality fears due to dads friends illness and jet lag making me low.

Booby sorry to miss u on msn , I had to get into bed when I got home, felt so ill , and have had to sit on sofa with dd2, still feel strange this evening. My sis thinks I may have had a panic episode and that wasnt good mixed with migraine from last night.

sarahlou1uk · 08/05/2007 22:27

Went to see counsellor today re dh's vasectomy. All went well and he's booked in for 25th July! It's our wedding anniversary too! However, I didn't know this, but he can still be fertile for upto 18 months after PLUS the tubes can somehow find each other again and knit together!!!! The cousellor said one couple went through it 5 years ago and one day, the woman felt pregnancy type symptoms, went to the docs and she was pregnant. The little blighters had knitted together! Don't fancy that so have told dh he will have to wear condoms EVERY time we have sex so that there is no chance of getting pregnant!

Nbg · 09/05/2007 08:41

OMG, sarah! I did not want to hear that! Dh is going in to see the Dr about his soon.
I think we're super fertile as it is, last thing I need is his bloody tubes knitting away!

Melsy, hope your feeling a bit calmer now and you've heard from your EFT lady. I heard from mine last night

Olivo, great news abot Holly dropping the feed and sleeping.

I had an unreal day yesterday. Firstly we have another Rat . So I called Pest control out and as he arrived my phone started ringing.
It was my bank to say that my credit card has been used fradulently over the last few days
Hopefully it should be sorted out but I am livid and worried as to how they got my details. Atm dh is saying no more online shopping

PinkTulips · 09/05/2007 09:25

on your behalf nbg, how on earth did that happen? i hope it's sorted quickly.

sorry about the rat, you seem to be plages witht them!

lol at ellis drinking the glass of water, calebs obsession is mugs... if he sees one he has to grab it. so far he's knocked a mug of coffee that was behind me at toddler group, he's knocked tea all over himself and the keyboard and he broke a mug at my aunts house this weekend he's so quick i don't notice him going for them half the time.

hope your feeling stronger soon mels, good luck with the eft and the op.

olivo, it must be so hard trying to get used to being at work again when all you want to do is be home with holly. i only did part time when dd was little and it killed me!

olivo · 09/05/2007 10:23

morning all! happy liberation day grannycrackers!
melsy -re: the dream feed - we dropped an ounce at a time evry four nights and then whne we had been down to three for a few days, just stopped. that was last friday and she's been fine. i tried giving her more at bed time but she didnt want it. she has 7 oz at morning and bedtime, and six oz at 11 and 3. probably far too much but its what she wants!! hope you are feeling better soon.
nbg - not good about your credit card, hope its sorted soon. and the blasted rat!!
sarah - at the vasectomy

day off for us today for liberation day but waeather is crap (and dh has man flu - again!) so nothing much happening!

PinkTulips · 09/05/2007 10:29

Caleb has only just woken u

have had a lovely relaxing morning (well 1.5 hours) without a child in sight!

he did good on the sleeping in dd's room too, stayed there til 3.20 am which is fantastic for him. pmsl though about 10 mins after i put her to bed to hear her stage whispering 'Coogie, coogie. wake up coogie' over the baby monitor! little monkey, i was worried she'd be upset to have him in her room but the opposite seems to be the case, she's overjoyed but thinks he's there to play with, not to sleep!

OP posts:
dressedupnowheretogo · 09/05/2007 10:36

cj has just gone down for her nap i nearly joined her im so tired

got work later and we have started house hunting so got that on my brain too

me and chris are getting on really well at the moment but we are on tenter hooks at th emoment til we have the house valued

rattleskuttle · 10/05/2007 11:26

good luck with your house hunting, booby. sometimes i think about moving to england as everything's so expensive here and there's not much scope.
ds is well again and thanks to everyone who wished him well. all thats been found so far is ketones in his urine sample, which i'm told are due to the fever he had. so it looks like nothing to do with his operation. hooray!!! he's on two lots of ab's now. he's sitting up all the time and every time he laughs he topples over. poor little thing
i'm thinking of doing more work for my business again soon and giving one of my employees notice, but i think it works out more expensive paying for some child care than employing someone part time. aarrggh , if only there was free child care available for all, even just a few hours a day, wouldn't that be wonderful? (granny, oh no, rattleskuttle(name change) carries on dreaming)

BigHotMama · 10/05/2007 11:41

Lol at your dd Pink! How funny! And caleb's obsession with mugs bless!

NBG, sorry you got another rat! Makes me go all funny thinking of the little horrors. Hope you get to book a holiday you cant beat a nice caravan holiday. There were loads of people on the same site as us who had got there holiday through The Sun £9.50 deals! Argh I was bit pissed off cuz we had paid full bloomin price!

Hope your ds is ok GC, there are lots of nasty bugs going around.

Olivo just think not long for 6 weeks holidays, it will come round sooner than you think.

Lol Sarahlou that the tubes may knit back together, I didnt realise it wasnt 100%, bet your dh isnt too impressed, my dh hates condomns thats probably why we hardly do it anymore as I cant be arsed to go back on the pill at the moment.

I'm sitting here listening to my ds snoring his head off as he got a nasty cold and cough due to his 4th tooth coming through. We've juts been to playgroup and he's well shattered wahey!

Did anybody see the lady on GMTV who expresses 2 gallons of breastmilk a week ? She has had 7 surrogate babies, and now expresses her milk for people who cant BF or gay parents or working mums. How mad is that? She didnt look like she had given birth to 10 babies either (3 are her own!).

PinkTulips · 10/05/2007 13:31

wow i have so much admiration for people like her. imagine the joy she's brought to so many lives

OP posts:
dressedupnowheretogo · 11/05/2007 09:10

I SAQW her too she did look good

my house is being valued in a bit and im so ner vous chris has got his heart set on a new 3 stoery house so hopefully it needs to be pver 155 so we can coz chris cant afford to pay any more than an extra 35k on the ortgage which will still be a paltry 80k but hey ho

oh and i deffo got to learn to drive

PinkTulips · 12/05/2007 10:49
