And of course everyone is welcome to post on here the more advice etc the better.

Saline drops are also good for clearing nasal congestion DD and Leo have both had colds within a week of being born and it is a nightmare.

All is well in the WCL household. DS had his first day at his new school today and he was so grown up and brave about it. For the first time since he started school in September he came out full of the joys of spring and not the sad little chap I collected from the old school. One parenting tip is that if you think your kids are not themselves you are probably right!!!!

Leo is doing really well. He has had a cold and has a cough now but he is now over 9.5 lbs, was 9lb 4oz on Monday so feeding is going well He is following me around the room (when DH is holding him), put him down and he cries though, he is already a cuddly Mummies boy

Eddas · 20/04/2007 09:40

Hello everyone, this is my first time posting on here. Haven't read the other posts jut wanted to say hello.

Harry is one week old today, bless him. All going well here. So glad to not be pg anymore. I seem to have regained some of my patience which is good! DD is loving her new little brother so far which is great too.

Anyway, short post but it is busy busy as you all know, speak soon x

octo · 20/04/2007 10:09

Hello hello (((waves)))

Quick post!

Feeding going well - milk well and truly in but he has bad wind/colic - so have made an appointment to see osteopath on Monday - hoping it will sort him out! Have read somewhere about milk intolerance aswell but will wait and see what happens on monday before leaping int cutting things out fo diet.

Ernie is generally awake from 11-3am so am really tired but dh being great and managing to catch up with sleep during day. Hes got 4 weeks off so hoping things will be better by the time he goes back to work!

I need to ring the Appeals lady now to see if Ted has got a place but am too scared - feel like am about to burst into tears any minute but know won;t be able to get some sleep until have rung... here goes ... back in a minute...

octo · 20/04/2007 10:17

WE WON THE APPEAL - am so happy and releived cannot stop crying!

8 days since I gave birth and I've only just got round to joining the PN thread.

George is beautiful. DH and I are mesmerised by him. He's back above his birthweight and feeding well. Nipples are sore (I love Lansinoh) and boobs like red hot cannonballs if we go too long between feeds, I've been having to pump a bit off to get comfy at nights (makes me feel like a moo-cow). DH and I are coping better and panicking less when he screams or does something new/unexplained.

Travelled to Newcastle on Tuesday so that I could go to my friend's funeral. It was exhausting and emotional but I'm so glad we went. The service was lovely, sad but so personal and well thought out and presented that it ended up being quite uplifting and positive. Just as Lauren would have wanted.

George was a very good boy and we've discovered the magic sleep inducing powers of the car! Couldn't believe how much stuff we needed to take for 1 night. Travelling with a baby is quite an operation.

Hope all are well and the babies are thriving. Having a quick glance at the thread I now know where to come for advice

WaspElly · 20/04/2007 12:14

Hi All,

sorry, and apologies to all for not hving checked in earlier - especially my buddy - some kind of support I'm being - especially as there's no particular reason, just been pottering around in a bit of a daze really.

Have been fantastically lucky with Tamsin who's being a doll - sleeping when she should and seems to be eating ok.
Keep on pinching myself and thinking if we'd had the kids the other way around it would have been SUCH a shock, as Cameron was a voracious and painful bf'er and it was all a bit of a mare.

Love & sympathy for all those finding it hard work. Sleep deprivation sucks, on top of all the other worries!

Bramshott · 20/04/2007 15:01

Oh Octo that's brilliant news!! I was just thinking about you and your school traumas the other day. So pleased he got a place

claricebean · 20/04/2007 20:04

Hi everyone, Glad things seem to be going well for most of you. Congrats on your school appeal octo, it must be a weight off your mind.

Well my parents left this afternoon, so I have 48 hours alone before MIL arrives. Can't believe I have been trusted to look after four children!!! Ruby slept from 11:30pm until 5:30am last night. At 8 days I know it will have been a one off, but am grateful to her that I got a good night's sleep.

Feeding for me is going ok. Latch still painful, but nipples looking OK. My only problem is that my haemorrhoids seem to be returning. I am gutted as have recovered so well from the birth and really just want to get on with things now, not be housebound and in pain. Still hoping it will be a flash in the pan.

Thinking of you all.

oooggs · 20/04/2007 20:16

Hi all

Birdiebump hope you are ok and that feeding is good. Where in Devon are you?

Claricebean - well done to Ruby sleeping so well. I had all three children today on my own. t felt really weird, jumping from 1 to 3!!!!

Waspelly - love to Tamsin yes I am missing sleep too. Between dt's they we up evry hour last night.

Is it legal to sell children on ebay???

Birdiebump · 20/04/2007 20:21

Hi again to all. WELL DONE OCTO AND TED!!

Things are going a bit better here. Wednesday was definitely a day from hell all on its own. Most days she is feeding and sleeping fine during the day although settling at night is still hard work. My milk supply seems to have stabilised but we have given her an ounce of formula for the past 2 nights and may well continue with this, if only for my psychological welfare!

Claricebean I am indeed using Lansinoh (when I remember!) and nips have healed up beautifully although like you, latch can still send me through the roof! Thank you for your good advice.

Also I'm being an idiot and not getting enough sleep during the day. Must do better.....

So glad everyone else is doing fine and (on the whole!) enjoying their gorgeous babies.

Birdiebump · 20/04/2007 20:23

Hi Ooogs! I am in Honiton, East Devon. Happy to join you with the children on eBay sale...

oooggs · 20/04/2007 20:26

just up the road birdiebump [[[waves]]]

Birdiebump · 20/04/2007 20:40

Well then we should get together (waves back!). Gotta go again.....

bubblez · 20/04/2007 21:05

Hello all you lovely new mums! (((waves)))

AND CONGRATULATIONS to all that have had a baby that I have missed!!!
Takes me ages to catch up on everyones baby news and then when I finally get around to posting either baby wakes up or someone calls etc.

Well our baby girl is now three weeks and three days old (it's gone so fast) and finally we have settled on a first name for her, "Tianna" (thank you pinions)..thank you all for your sugestions.. now we have to decide on a middle name hopefully that won't take us another 3weeks...

Mother hood of two is def good and extreemly tiring!! Have decided to substitute one nightfeed for a FF so that i can get a least one block of sleep that lasts longer than an hour and a half/two hours.

DD1 loves her little sister but is very hyper and clumbsy (so I'm on edge all day).. she is a good help though!

Sorry I haven't done any personals will def try to get on again soon (and more often) to do carch up properly..

gonna try and post on the an thread now (and see what is happening with my buddy pesha)

take care all
xxxx

mammyjo · 20/04/2007 21:21

Hello all. Birdie, glad things have gone better for you today. I am also an advocate for Lansinoh. Cleared up my nasty blistered nips in no time after dd had done her worst!!

Dd doing well, feeding every 2-3 hours overnight so managing to get some sleep in between as she is good to resettle back down. By day she feeds anything from hourly to 3 hourly. She doesnt sleep for ages by day unless in the car or buggy but would rather this and get some sleep at night! Got her weighed today and she has gained a full pound on her birth weight so is now 9lb 1oz. Really pleased as I can see she is obviously getting enough from me. Always a worry with breast feeding as you cant see what they take can you!

Octo, so glad you won your appeal, brilliant news and must be a weight off your mind. Feel for you being up from 11-3. I remember it well with ds. Sleep deprivation is a terrible thing.

Take care all, see you all soon (hopefully)!!

Hope all babies with blocked noses get them cleared soon! Would def recommend saline nasal drops too, they work wonders.

mammyjo · 20/04/2007 21:23

Hi bubblez! Glad all is well with you and love the name!

CaptainDippy · 20/04/2007 21:35

Just thought I'd pop in and say "hi" - Hope to join you guys sooooooon .......

1becomes3 · 21/04/2007 11:31

Oh I must be feeling better today I actually feel like posting

Congratulations everyone who has had their babies. There have been so manny I haven't got a chance at remembering who I've done or not.

The twins seem to be in a routine of feeding every 4 hrs and I am BF 1 and bottle the other and then on the next feed switching them over. So Zed is finally BF which is all thanks to Mars and some babymooning, If you don't know what that is it means lying around naked with naked babies, is great as I have been able to catch up on some sleep while doing it. My house is a tip oh well!!!

DD is slightly better as I have been doing her bed time story and she hasn't been attacking me so much (touch wood)

I have even been invited out for a night out........ in 6months time so I have that to look forward to, (I do hope to get some time off before that) This is something of a special treat as I'm going to see my favourite band, who I used to work with way back when I had a life and haven't seen them in years.
I get to go back stage and am a V.I.P for the night, so when things get shit I can count down the days till that and it will make me feel happier.

Lets hope it all keeps improving and DH behaves himself.

I hope everyone is doing well and coping well with their new bundles or the rest of their pg.

and hugs]]]]

1b3 - glad things are seeming brighter for you.

I am home alone with the brood for 48 hours. I can´t believe I am in charge of four such precious things. We are about 18 hours in and so far everyone is still in one piece. MIL (cavalry) arrives tomorrow afternoon.

Have added a picture of Ruby onto my profile page.

Hope you´re all OK.

hotlipsmummy · 21/04/2007 13:17

Hello ladies - here we are! DS2 was born on 12 April and I finally have a minute to post and say hi to you all. Have scanned the thread and hope those who were feeling sore/teary/stressed/tired and all the other post bnatal things are on the up now. We have had a good first week or so - feeding going well and the pain beginning to subside. Much better than last time when I had such terrible problems which is a relief. Am another advocate of Lansinoh.

My mum has been here since DS2 was born and will stay another week or so as DH is back to work on Monday and the thought of both boys on my own is filling me with panic!

Right the baby is waking up and its time for another feed... will try to post again soon and keep up with you all

Mossie · 21/04/2007 20:09

Just popping by from the March thread to say congratulations to you all who are now "on the other side"...

Three of your lo's iirc share the same birthday as my ds, 11 April (was due 27th March) so I'll probably pop by a bit now and then, if y'all don't mind!!

Had a quick scan-read of the thread, If any of you are having any trouble with bfing, do have a read of this thread I started, it has some great advice from some experienced Mums which I found really useful: Here

octo · 21/04/2007 22:14

Evening ladies - an our to myself before next feed! I have sore nipples too - not bad but ouch when first latches on then goes. The engorgement is on its way out which is a huge relief - felt like I needed 8 hands to get him latched on, hold his hands out the way, keep him tummy to tummy and because boobs so engorged make space with a finger by his nose so he could breathe!!! But thinkk that is on its way out and am making sure he is in the right position every time and not being lazy about it. He has been a bit snacky today - so hoping to get a big feed in before bedtime and then who knows!!! Last night he slept between his feeds instead of screaming with colic/wind - so fingers crossed! have booked a cranial osteopath appointment for monday morning and they seemed pretty confident they could sort him in one session.

He is weeing through is smaller cloth nappies in two hours and pooing regulalry so know he is getting enough milk.

Have midwife appointment in the morning - so going to get my latch checked, my sticthes (does anyone elses seem to get sorer after a few days??), get them to show me how to do baby massage for wind and ask why he gulps when he feeds - swallowing alot of air - hence the wind.

Need to go do online sains order - we are out of food!

Hope you are all okay - its funny how we had so much time to sit and chatter before but now its grabbing 5 minutes to do one post!

liath · 22/04/2007 07:46

Had an Ok night last night but boobs still engorged and sore sore nips - was terrified it was thrush again but had v good midwife out yesterday & it seems down to engorgement. Have used shileds for the odd overnight feed. Thank goodness for lansinoh here too.

Octo, am so impessed you're using cloth already, we're still in pampers and have temporarily put dd in dispies too to make life easier. He's got such skinny wee legs I'm not sure the Meos would fit yet.

1b3 so good to see you're sounding more positive - thank God for MN and Marslady!!

DH is being such a star, looking after dd and taking ds until the wee hours so I can at least start the night on a decent bit of sleep.

claricebean · 22/04/2007 10:24

Hi Mossie, octo and liath and morning everyone else.... just a quick post as I can hear Ruby waking up for a feed and then have to take DD1 to her flamenco rehearsal. My MIL arrives today to help out until DH gets back IN ONE WEEK!!! - HURRAH

octo I don't have stitches, but did notice that my groin area seemed to get sorer after a few days. I put it down to the fact that the nerves must get a battering down there and after a few days they are back to themselves pinpointing the pain with more precision . Not sure if there is any medical basis to that self diagnosis though!!

Right, love to all. Must dash. Have nearly survived my 48 hours home alone with four.

Smole · 22/04/2007 11:40

Ok first chance to post. Thank you for all your messages of support.

Jesse is fine. It turned out not only was his blood too thick and not feeding but he had an infection and needed antibiotics as well as an eye infection.

We had a few problems when we got him home with his feeding but that is all sorted now.

He was tested for downs which he does have. However since he does not have many of the problems associated with downs ie no heart problems, no poor muscle tone (in fact he's a strong little fellow), etc., the consultant was hopeful that he will only have a mild form, but time will tell. We have decided to take each day as it comes and face his difficulties when and if we come across them.

We have also made the decision not to announce to everyone that he has downs. My DH has cousin who has MS and I wouldn't dream of introducing her to people as "our cousin with MS" and I don't feel I should have to introduce Jesse as "my son with downs". He is my son - period.

Longest post I've ever done. Thank you again for all your messages of support.
