Feel like I'm doing naps wrong today.

DD sounds very distressed even when I'm putting her in her sleeping bag.

coupester · 06/09/2017 15:15

Swimming was good, I think we both felt more confident than we have previously. However, typically, DS wouldn't sleep all morning then fell asleep on his 11am bottle, so had about 15mins before I had to wake him up to go swimming!

We've spent a good half hour, possibly longer, trying to have an afternoon nap, I think he may finally be asleep. All I've been doing for that time is shushing and thinking of all the other things I need to do around the house!

So in total he's had less than half an hour since he woke up at 7am Confused I hope this snooze he's just started can last a little while!

So Carol, you're not alone in feeling like you're failing naps today!!

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 15:55

I failed. I caved. She's napping in our room. She's not normally a crying baby, she moans maybe has a little complain but not a scream like she's being tortured kind of cry.

Had a mini melt down (cry) after she finally fell asleep. Same feeling I had when I gave up on breast feeding. Its not a great feeling.

I know it's just a nap and in the grand scheme of all the problems that have been mentioned on this thread it doesn't compare. I'm just having one of those days I think.

Had such a good night as well.

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 16:00

Glad you had a good swim coupe

NameChange30 · 06/09/2017 16:28

Carol
Flowers
You didn't fail, you managed to calm her down and get her to sleep which is the most important thing. Maybe she is teething or has another reason for being unsettled today that means she needs a bit of extra comforting.
Most of the advice I've read about sleep bangs on about being consistent but I read the No Cry Sleep Solution (which admittedly is on the gentle, gradual end of the spectrum) and it says it's ok to take a break and resort to old methods sometimes, if you keep trying you will still make progress.
That certainly made me feel better anyway!

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 16:33

Thanks name just hated having her look at me like that wondering why I'm not holding her etc

NameChange30 · 06/09/2017 16:48

I understand, I remember feeling awful when I tried to get him to sleep in his bouncer and he was getting more and more upset Sad It's heartbreaking isn't it?!

Agree one day isn't a failure. You got her to sleep and that's what she needed 💐

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/09/2017 17:15

Weaning is hit and miss. Maybe he isn't a hungry nanny innam

Maybe try veggies at lunch time.

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 17:35

She woke at 5 after an hour and 40 mins

Her voice is back to being husky

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 17:41

Put some cooled boiled water in a sippy cup for her.

Carol don't feel bad, babies have bad days too and at least you got her to sleep! Flowers

DS slept for around 45 mins so has had maybe slightly over an hour of sleep since 7am! I didn't do anything differently to any other day. He may well be harder to settle than normal tonight - we're about to find out!

THere must be something in the air today because we've had a bad day too. DS has been grumpy and hard work all day. DH is just giving DS a quick bath then we'll put him to bed. Dreading tonight, I am beyond shattered and need some bloody sleep! I was clumsy today and accidentally bumped DS's head on two separate occasions Sad

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 19:12

DD asleep. 10 mins later then usual but at least I didn't have this time. Lullabies and heartbeat sounds to sleep. A couple (dozen) of little moans but sound asleep now. Knackered. What's for tea Confused

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 19:13

*cave this time.

Carolann8584 · 06/09/2017 19:15

Awww name

hugh she looks so comfy and looks like we picked the same sleepsuit tonight

coupe 🤞 for tonight Flowers

troodiedoo · 06/09/2017 20:14

How bizarre we've also had a rubbish day. Tried to go swimming this morning but missed the time slot. I've been feeling progressively worse as the day goes on. Think have mastitis just off to out of hours

purpleviolet1 · 06/09/2017 20:15

Carol she is gorgeous!!!!

Brew you didn't fail! Things just don't go as smoothly as we want sometimes. As name said things still progress in the grand scheme of things. She is probably under the weather and needs the extra comforting.

Thanks blondes, he took it well this evening.

Hugh she is sooo adorable ! Look at her rosy cheeks.

I'm not sure if ds is teething at all as his cheeks have never been flushed but he does constantly chew and gnaw on everything.

Namechange hope you have a better night Flowers

DS skipped his third nap which he has been having last couple days but still went to bed at 7. He seemed fairly happy. I went for the steroid injections , it was really very painful and I'm struggling to move around just now. DH went with me and has been helping with ds tonight though so not been too bad. Hopefully by the morning the pain will have eased.
