@100 routines do go astray with every day to day life. Sure all will get back on track soon

@name. You are insane amazing to use washable nappies - tho if dh wanted to use them hope he helps with the washing for of them

And yes use disposable for nights. Anything that helps make life easier do it 💐💐

@hugh. Kwym about daddy getting under our feet. He means well but cocks yo my routine and puts dd to bed say 30m
Earlier as 'apparently tired' so then wakes up early and is grumpy for activity

@purple. Wow at dm being 50
That's df age and alm heading that direction You must be young - compared to me lol

Dd loves mobile phones. Guess it's usually near me. Loves a selfie 😆 and also we face time daddy and big sister and agree loves books. I read every day to her - she enjoys chewing the hard back ones 😂😂

I sometimes sing to dd. Poor thing. While eating.

Well done for getting out for a walk. I took DS for a long walk too, it's been a beautiful sunny day so I thought we should make the most of it, although I was exhausted before I left and even more so after getting back!
We got some free books from the Book Trust (given to us by the health visitor), did you get any? I've also registered DS at the library Grin He absolutely loves books, obviously doesn't understand but loves looking at the pictures. Definitely try out a few books and see how it goes!
When giving DS purée I give him his own spoon, it helps when he chews it as his mouth is slightly open so it helps for getting the purée in Wink He does try to grab my spoon, inevitably! Tbh I find it so much easier to give him finger food and let him get on with it.

Blondes
Ha ha, yes I think it's pretty insane tbh Grin I guess we're doing our bit for the environment although we use the washing machine a lot! DH does help out with washing the nappies, I would certainly have words if he didn't. But he also does all the cooking 👍 so I do more laundry than him which is fair enough I guess.

So DH and I are finally feeling better (he was a bit ill too although nowhere near as bad as me)... and DS is teething Sad It was an exhausting night as he woke at 3am and didn't properly settle after that, didn't sleep for any decent length of time whether he was fed or rocked Confused We realised today that he must have been in pain with teething but at the time we didn't think of it or we could have just drugged him up with ibuprofen dammit
We've given him ibuprofen tonight and I'm praying for a better night, I can't deal with another 3am start 😫

coupester · 05/10/2017 19:28

I am rubbish at naps. DS used to have first bottle around 6:30/7 then go back to sleep til 9/10. Now, he doesn't want to go back to bed straight away which is depriving me of a lie in fine, so instead goes for a nap around 10/11ish and sleeps for an hour or two but after that, it's so hit and miss! I just can't quite seem to get a routine Sad he always seems to be grumpy by tea time and doesn't want his solids.

He's still teething and still unhappy around sleep times but he did nap from 1:30-3:30 today (woke up crying though) then was in tears at 5:30 when I tried to feed him cabbage that'd make me cry too.

Carolann8584 · 05/10/2017 19:38

After such a good day with for formula and solids DD woke at 4 and wanted it to be morning tried a feed she had 2oz but then was awake every 30 mins until 6:30 when I got up. I checked her for any leaks it all stayed in her nappy 🙌 she a 1oz of her 7:30 feed but gobbled up her porridge at just gone 8. With a side of toast.

She's only had 16oz all day. Done well with her food though. Parsnips for lunch and cauliflower broccoli and carrot for tea

100yearsdotcom · 05/10/2017 19:40

Thanks again all, I know you're all right about the routines and comparisons.

Hope tonight is better namechange

Abacha · 05/10/2017 19:41

Hey, just checking in. Hope everyone is ok. Regarding sensor mat, because ds passed away from sids, I was enrolled in CONI (care of next infant). Health visitor and doctor visited me at home and gave me sensor that clips to their nappies and emits alarms if breathing stops.

I made the decision not to use it, I might have considered it with one baby but with two, I knew that it would cause more anxiety, the only way I could survive was to tell myself that it Wouldn't happen again.

The babies are doing well, ds still sleeps better than dd, dd is x a very light sleeper and wakes up at the slightest noise.

Weaning is going well too, we have porridge in the morning and some puree in the evening, will introduce lunch soon. I still have no idea what im doing but I'm just taking it day by day.

100yearsdotcom · 05/10/2017 19:45

(((((((abacha))))))) you're amazing Flowers

What time is bedtime?
I posted my routine a bit earlier in the thread... DS is going to bed around 7.15-7.30pm now, waking around 6.30am (Sad as it was 7am before), and he has 3 naps: morning, lunchtime and late afternoon. I try and make the first 2 naps at least an hour long but have to rock him after the first sleep cycle or he wakes up... I'm getting really sick of doing that now! And the last nap is just a short one.
I've probably mentioned before that we got into a routine relatively late as I wasn't too bothered about it to begin with, but it was becoming an issue and I'm glad we have one now. It is easier to get DS to nap although we are rocking him to sleep and I want to get him falling asleep by himself, but I will start working on that when the nights have improved a bit more! Can't face it quite yet!

NameChange30 · 05/10/2017 19:52

A few cross posts there, yes I agree with 100, you are doing an amazing job Abacha! Star

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2017 20:10

@abacha - must have been so hard. Your twins are def rainbow babies 💐👶🏼💐

snuza baby monitor Do have more false alarms then angels - as get nudged off nappy

If the angel is positioned properly on flat surface under mattress then false alarms are very rare - (unless baby rolls off - change sensitivity)

but I would prefer to have a false alarm Then no risk no alarm - but everyone is different

Glad enjoying veggies

Dd crashed 620 after her milk. Is so tired at the moment. Must be a growth spurt bless her

@NameChange30 bedtime is between 6 and 7, usually closer to 6 these days as he gets so grumpy. I think he'd be best with a nap between 4&5, so perhaps I need to bring some of the others forward.

Do people wake dcs after a certain time or just let them sleep until they wake naturally? I think I should have cut his earlier nap short so he could nap at 4 but when I tried to put him down at 4 yesterday he refused to sleep!

@Abacha I agree, you're doing a fab job!

100yearsdotcom · 05/10/2017 20:37

Same hugh! It's like having a support group in your phone! Grin

troodiedoo · 05/10/2017 20:37

Hey all just checking in. We're still a bit hit and miss with daytime naps but getting there slowly.

Has anyone ever ventured onto one of the other month postnatal threads, just to y'know, see what they are like? Technically I should be on the April one as dd was late but I've grown attached to you guys Flowers

NameChange30 · 05/10/2017 20:40

I've always been on the March threads from when I first got my BFP, I worked out my due date as early March but it was brought forward to February at the 12 week scan... didn't want to switch threads at that point, and DS was born on 10th March so I was on the right thread all along Smile

Totally agree this thread is a lifeline!

troodiedoo · 05/10/2017 20:40

Oh and big Star for @abacha you're doing an amazing job.

NameChange30 · 05/10/2017 20:42

So he was sleeping from 6-7pm to 9-10am?!! Amazing! I guess it must have been good while it lasted...

Abacha · 05/10/2017 20:47

Thanks everyone, the support is amazing. I'm trying my best to keep the anxiety at bay. blonde I was wrong it doesn't clip to the nappy, its actually fastened to their tummy through a tube using a round plaster that's changed every day . The device itself which comes out in between the holes of babygro is massive, imagine the width of two sky remotes. I wish I bought the angel mat but the twins shared a cot in the beginning so I'm not sure if that would work.

How much water are you giving dc daily, I'm not sure when to Introduce it, they don't seem interested when I give them water after their meal

Abacha · 05/10/2017 20:54

hugh yeah I feed them at the same time. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, basically they are both in their high chairs and I sit on a chair facing them, I take turns feeding them from the same bowl and spoon, I tried different spoons in the past but they were getting antsy waiting. I might try again if one has a cold but for now they are sharing.

coupester · 05/10/2017 20:55

@NameChange30 umm, yes, I guess so! But with bottles at 9pm and 7am. I hadn't really thought about it like that!

NameChange30 · 05/10/2017 21:09

"But with bottles at 9pm and 7am."

Nothing in between? Didn't wake up at all or did wake up but settled without a feed?

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2017 21:10

Yes you can have two angels in same cot. I often do with twins

Yours sounds complicated @abacha

Water - has a tommee tippee beaker. Prob has maybe half a beaker daily - tho some is dribbles /spat out

I always wake up 730am weekdays as like dd back in bed 9/10

Weekends vary. Usually awake by 8
If not 730

Am sleep is 9/10'and usually wakes after an hr

Afternoon nap I leave to sleep. Varies from 1.5/2 hrs

If awake by 2:230
Will usually have a cat nap 430ish and bed 7

If not nap /sleeps till 3 then bed is 6/630

Though think I said before mon and fri is short nap after lunch and then will sleep 3/5 and bed 7ish

Row row always calms dd. That's her song. So many verses lol

This thread is like our Phone from home Nct class 😂😂

purpleviolet1 · 05/10/2017 21:13

@coupester he seems to be hitting my hand away as the food splatters everywhere I’ve tried giving him his own spoon but no luck. Dm was here though this evening and she fed him and he took it really nicely! Maybe he’s not liked what I’ve given him?

@Blondeshavemorefun I’m 27 but feel like I’m in the body of a 50 year old with my health issues

Ds loves mobile too! Loves watching videos of himself - looks at me and laughs lol

Do you sit LO in lap facing away from you whilst reading to them?

We’re going to go on Monday to check local library out

@coupester If it helps out routine is :

  • Awake at 7am (although I’m relaxing with this now as he wakes by himself by 7.15am)
  • nap around 9.30am ish for 45 mins max
  • nap around 12:30ish for 2 hours max
  • nap around 4 for 30 mins max (we’ve recently dropped this as he seems to be in that transition stage where he doesn’t need it so much but then can get a little grumpy around 6)
  • bed for 6.45pm ish and asleep by 7 usually

Call me nuts but I gently wake him by going into his room , opening blinds if he doesn’t naturally wake

I find this routine the best for him and perfected it with the advice and support of the sleep lady. Prior to this he was having a long nap in the morning and then 40 mins in afternoon and very grumpy.

@Abacha You went through so much so glad you have your gorgeous babies now. Your comment about still not knowing what your doing made me laugh as I have those moments too we are all doing well though in reality

@HughLauriesStubble So glad you are enjoying the thread! When I started it I thought no one would join....

@troodiedoo No not ventured elsewhere but please don’t leave ! We don’t mind

@Abacha I offer water in a cup alongside solids and he seems to like it. Tried to hold it himself

Apologies for my post, not sure why that happened? Anyone know?

My most important update was that I’ve had a looong soak in the bath and feel so lovely and relaxed now that I’m tucked up in bed Smile
