Night mrm

Does anyone know how much a new roof costs on a terrced house? We really need a new one. Ours is terrible. We're looking into getting a loan to get it done.

PhoenixChick · 10/04/2007 22:51

You'll have to think of a new csws combination

Goodnight csws

Jelley · 10/04/2007 22:53

DP says 3k max (assuming it isn't a huge house and you're just replacing exising tiles.)

PhoenixChick · 10/04/2007 22:55

Is he a roofer? (goldfish memory sorry if you've said before)

Jelley · 10/04/2007 23:00

He does anything he'll get paid for

He re did the house opposite a few years ago, but is mostly a chippie (Thats carpentry for those who left school at 15 with no quals)
Once you're his age it's experience that counts so he's ok now.

PhoenixChick · 10/04/2007 23:05

Shame u live miles away we need a joiner (carpenter) too We're splitting the attic and having a bedroom and en suite up there and a door putting at the top of the stairs.

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 23:08

what is this thread about? Late talkers or new arrivals? Geunine question, sorry.

Jelley · 10/04/2007 23:10

He could do that, no problem ( but he makes a mess and swears alot!).

He told me his latest plans to do our loft again yesterday.

The man still hasn't made the shed he bought the wood for over a year ago.
Never live with a carpenter. He does a lovely job when he gets round to it, but when is anybody's guess...

Jelley · 10/04/2007 23:11

We all have babies born Feb 06 (ish)

It's us that talk alot

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 23:16

oh right. nothing to do with chatterbox tots then - late talkers?

PhoenixChick · 10/04/2007 23:16

We need to get our arses into gear and get some quotes.

Jelley · 10/04/2007 23:21

No. Very little of these threads is to do with our dc

They are only 14 months....not really late talkers!

Do you have a Feb 06 baby, or a late talker?

Jelley · 10/04/2007 23:22

I'm off to bed.

NN pg

PhoenixChick · 10/04/2007 23:28

Night Jel. I'm off to bed now

2boysmacca · 11/04/2007 07:31

pg at your Sky package. We don't use it. All the channels I watch I could get on Freeview. Glad we don't pay for it. Hate having the dish too.

We pay £17.99 for Broadband from NTL. We need to get it changed cos that is very expensive. All the cheaper packages include phone lines and I'm a talk talk user as are my sister and folks.

I need to do something today. I'm thinking of Hatfield forest but I haven't decided yet.

Ds2 very moany as he was up half the night again. Refused to have his breakfast too. He must be ill!

Jelley · 11/04/2007 07:35

macca, our BB was NTL (now Virgin) I rang and said it's too expensive, I want to change suppliers, and they cut it to £10 a month for the next year.
Call them!

2boysmacca · 11/04/2007 08:07

I did. They said it was the best they could do!!

Jelley · 11/04/2007 08:08

They lied

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/04/2007 08:16

Sounds like teething macca?

Jelley - does/would your dh do fencing (not making it, but ripping out old and installing new, or would he see that more as a landscaper's job?

2boysmacca · 11/04/2007 08:27

Yes, definitely teething. He dribbles so much his clothes are always soaked. He bites anything he can sink his teeth into, usually my leg or arm.

Got the quote through for the drive. £2143 Was expecting about £1500.

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/04/2007 08:31

Is the drive big (crossing fingers whilst dreading how much ours might cost)?

Jelley · 11/04/2007 08:36

@ drive quote.

Maybe a house with no drive at all isn't so bad after all.

csws - He has done fencing in the past. (Prefers making to just fitting iyswim) No idea how much he charges for stuff like that. Why?

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/04/2007 08:42

We need some doing within next 3 weeks (pre playhouse). Have someone in mind to do it already, but haven't asked him yet, and thought that if your dh did it then he could bring you up to play at the same time .

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/04/2007 08:45

We haven't actually bought the fencing yet, so he could make it too if he wants. Is he busy with work at the moment?

2boysmacca · 11/04/2007 08:55

Drive not big! We live in a mid terrace and the gardens are used as drives. The drive is about the length of a car and fits one car nicely, 2 at a squeeze (next door managed to park their Land Rover and Volvo 4x4)

£1000 is labour. Which makes sense, 2 men £150 a day, 3 days. The rest is materials.

We had fencing done last year. 7 panels. Guy took out a hedge and put up new fence £400 . Fortunatley next door went halves with us. Trouble is, we need another 10 panels doing on that side and the whole of it doing the other. me thinks I may need to get back to work
