Happy birthday to all the April babies!

Oh I know it is sooo hard to believe.
We had a huge party last weekend for dd who loved every moment of it.

Where did my little baby go?

fennel · 01/04/2007 13:53

Happy birthday everyone.

My little baby is getting very much not a baby lately too. She's really good on her scooter, scoots to preschool and round the playground, and she's just got into cycling (with stabilisers).

Tickle · 01/04/2007 22:34

Happy birthday everyone!

LucyJones · 03/04/2007 20:26

Happy B/day everyone. My ds had such a fab time - I think it was the first year he properly knew what was going on.
Just in case anyone is stuck for presents this is what he got;
Dino Rescue playset from ELC
Blow up football goal and football
Fastlane Carwash set - yu acyually put real water in it
Dinosaur pants and PJs (can you tell what he's into yet!)
some of the
the Little Princess picture books
make your own wooden spoon people from ELC

hewlettsdaughter · 04/04/2007 21:41

Sounds good Lucy. Happy birthday to all those who are three already

DD didn't seem to want to got to bed tonight. I found her wandering about upstairs a couple of times and tucked her in. After the third time, she cried a bit then seemed to settle so we thought we'd cracked it. Went up later to check on her - couldn't find her under the duvet and then went into our bedroom... she was snuggled up in our bed, asleep!

MrsDoolittle · 10/04/2007 22:07

Dd turned 3 today, although we celebrated it yesterday as dh was at home.
We went to a farm park and had a picnic also bringing the cake and candles. Dd loved it.

I think what I like most of all is watching dd and ds together. It's so beautiful it almost makes me cry.

gingeme · 10/04/2007 22:31

Can I but in here and say my ds3 is 3 on Friday. Fennel can I just ask does your dd find it easy to scoot/cycle ? Went to Toys R Us today to get ds a bike and he wasnt in the least bit interested to even try to pedal a bike. Is it just a boy thing ? Oh Happy Birthday to all the ickle 3 year olds

hewlettsdaughter · 11/04/2007 14:04

gingeme - my dd pedals a trike that was passed on to her by a friend - doesn't really know how to scoot yet though.

MrsD - your dd's birthday sounds lovely

LucyJones · 15/04/2007 21:26

I know what you mean MrsDoolittle - ds loves his little sister to bits and it's so sweet to watch them together Happy b/day to your dd.

fennel · 16/04/2007 10:13

gingeme, she practised for a few weeks on a trike and now finds the bike (12" wheels with stabilisers) easy. My others cycled this bike from 2 and a bit, it's actually easier than a trike in some ways, as you're above the pedals not behind them.

dd3 finds the scooter easy but she does have 2 big sisters who cycle and scoot so she's got the incentive to keep up.

Chuffed · 24/04/2007 08:07

Hows it all going everybody, this thread has gone a bit quieter hasn't it.

Well I have finally got some news about my health which has been poor since ds was born and my MRI came back as probable Sheehan's syndrome which is when the pituitary gland basically dies during childbirth caused by intense haemorrhaging.
This will mean thyroid medication for life, possible HRT, cortisone etc.

Now I have a diagnosis I feel so much better, the drugs have started to work and I am getting my appetite back and am losing weight due to having a metabolism again. It is so nice to be able to get up in the morning and not be unable to move due to exhaustion and listen to your bub whinging in his cot but unable to get him out.

My specialist is doing a referral for gynae and IVF on the public health system here so I can get an idea as to what may be involved as we really did want a 3 child family and feel something is missing. Hopfully they can work a miracle and get my ovaries to produce an egg.

Hopefully all is well with you all.

hewlettsdaughter · 24/04/2007 22:42

Wow Chuffed - I had no idea you were still having problems... I am sorry to hear about the diagnosis - but glad, too, that you are starting to feel better.

Good luck with the referral x

fennel · 26/04/2007 09:59

SOrry to hear that Chuffed.

What effect does it have on fertility then? it must be more serious than general thyroid problems. My SIL used to have to have thyroid treatment to get pregnant but that was general thyroid imbalance or something, yours sounds different.

Chuffed · 30/04/2007 11:57

Because my pituitary gland doesn't have any blood supply anymore it can't control lots of the glands. So I no longer have FSH, LSH etc which stimulates ovaries, not sure what is going on with cortisone at the mo, and obviously thyroid isn't stimulated either.

So because I have no sex hormones so to speak my ovaries are like those of someone who has gone through menopause. Haven't had any period etc, and probably won't have one normally for ever now.

I've been put on the pill to try to get some hormones into my system before the referral goes through to IVF clinic.

Yeah pretty big deal but I feel so much better knowing what is wrong, I was truly starting to believe I had a tumour somewhere or was getting MS I felt so crap.

Chat soon

tracyk · 30/04/2007 18:42

Poor you chuffed. Anyone else's body gone downhill since dd/ds's??
I can't shift the 2 stone I put on in pg and now have psoraisis which I never had before ds, and pelvic floor is crap too!

Chuffed · 01/05/2007 22:08

Apparently pelvic floor can 'always' be strengthened like any other muscle in the body it just takes a whole heap of dedication to do the exercises regularly.

Have you looked at trying to cut something out of your diet for psoraisis (?sp) as I've heard apart from stress it is often caused by things like food intollerances like dairy or wheat.

It's ghastly feeling like your body is falling out from under you and you are still young isn't it.

tracyk · 03/05/2007 13:08

I'm just not dedicated to strengthening - I keep hoping it will magically get strong all by itself!

I'm off to see a homeopath next week - my skin is getting worse - I'm not sure if its worth paying £60 for someone to tell me what I know already. Cut down on refined sugars, stress and get more exercise!

LucyJones · 04/05/2007 16:19

So sorry to hear about all you've been through Chuffed. I will keep my fingers crossed for you re. 3rd baby
I too get psorasis. It's behind my ears mostly and the only thin it stops me doing is going to the hairdressers as regularly as i should as I find it embarassing. I get prescribed steriod cream but forget to put it on regualrly enough

lunavix · 21/05/2007 12:26

Oh no Chuffed Sorry to hear that.

Glad everyone's lo's had great birthdays. Ds had a huge party (40 odd kids ) but he loved every minute.

MrsD - I know exactly what you mean, ds was special on his own, but him and dd together are something else entirely...

My dd is quite shocking too. She's 8 months, has two teeth (ds didn't get his till around 13 months I think? Then it was one every 2 months or so lol) she's been crawling for a month and a half, she's now cruising around the furniture and pulling herself up to stand on everything.. it's scary, ds didn't do any of this until really late (walking at nearly 18 months!)

Chuffed · 28/05/2007 11:06

Isn't it interesting how different they are, even though people say it, I suppose it is hard to comprehend how different they are with the same genes.

Well the ovulation assistance has taken a bit of a backseat again for a month while they have me on heavy duty hrt in the hope that it will help fix some issues still around after ds's birth otherwise I'll have to have surgery and it will delay the ttc again. dh and I are pretty clucky!

I've updated my photos on my profile if anybody wants to have a nosey.

LucyJones · 30/05/2007 14:40

chuffed - really hope you get some good news with the ttc soon. Love the photos. Your dd looks so grown up and so pretty too

Chuffed · 22/06/2007 05:15

thanks - we think she is beautiful too.

I should officially start 'help' on Monday as the hrt helped heaps so hopefully that will mean no surgery.

I'm a bit scared of having to give myself daily injections but needs must

hewlettsdaughter · 26/06/2007 19:33

Glad the hrt helped Chuffed. Re the injections - you'll be fine once you start doing it, I'm sure.

Anyone else's three year old being a pain at the moment? My dd is of course lovely but also very strong-willed and won't listen if she doesn't want to (ds wasn't really like this so it's all new to me). She ran across the road the other day before I could get there - it was a fairly quiet road but we are still lucky nothing was coming at the time...

fennel · 27/06/2007 09:37

Good luck Chuffed,

Your dd is gorgeous, and always looks about 2 years older than my dd3.

dd3 is still pretty amenable for a 3 year old, though she has to do everything herself, in the right order, and if you help she insists on starting again. Which can take a long time.

She's still useless at the toilet training, but at least when it's your 3rd you know it's not that you're doing it wrong, it's just her being dim

LucyJones · 29/06/2007 10:52

all the best Chuffed xxxx
Yes, ds is being a pain at the moment.... wants to wear what you chooses, even if it's trousers on a boiling hot day, wants to eat what he wants all the time etc etc. He's also started waking up at 5.45am onwards and is very cross when he is sent back to bed until 6.30am (that's my limit, anything before then is too early!)
