DD had been exposed to chicken pox when she was 9 weeks so had to wait 2 weeks to see if she caught them and then had to wait for them to clear up so yeah started first injections at 14 weeks.

DD is 4.5 months or 19w 5d Grin

Hugh
Oh dear Grin
Would a sleeping bag/ grobag type thing prevent that from happening?

troodiedoo · 08/08/2017 19:14

Hello ladies 😁 sorry I lost the old thread and couldn't find it (baby brain!)

Nice to catch up with your posts and good to know I'm not the only one who forgets how many weeks she is. Some of my new baby friends still count in weeks and days!

MotherofA · 08/08/2017 19:18

Hugh I absolutely love that pic although I have no solution !
Name my DD was also born 10th march , nearly 5 months !
Oh sorry purple I thought the dummy situ had improved yes I would probably get rude if he's struggling .

Think DD teeth and bothering her a bit today , like your lo blondes she also only chews her hands !

its my finger she loves , not hers lol

hard gums are enough, when gets a tooth she wont be having my fingers at all !!!!!

i have to try and rem weeks as when we get weighed they always ask me what she is in weeks, and im erm ........

grobag during day or tuck legs under a thin blanket under mattress

guess as 28/3 dd is the youngest on this thread

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/08/2017 19:40

and poor dd @carolann cp so young :(

Carolann8584 · 08/08/2017 19:44

She didn't get them as bad as her big brother's, their mum scrubed off their spots !! Poor little men are still healing. The youngest of my DSSs got them first, we noticed the first spot the day after we went to my DBs wedding!! So he gave them to my DB as well as he didn't have them as a child. So then my other DSS caught them then DD. At least they are out of the way

purpleviolet1 · 08/08/2017 22:35

Thanks everyone. This thread helps keep me sane.

Hugh that pic is adorable!!!!!

DS was born on 15/3, I think he was 22 weeks today, I've lost count !

The appt with the sleep lady went well. She asked lots of questions and basically said she thinks he has built an intolerance to the milk he is on. I didn't realise it could happen weeks after as he had been settled for about 7/8 weeks on the nutramigen. She said babies most commonly build an intolerance, if they are going to, 6-12 weeks after starting it. Nutramigen is a hypo allergenic milk for those of you who don't know, but it is partially hydrolysed which means it still contains cows milk protein but it's so small that that the body doesn't usually recognise it as an allergen. Neocate is a milk which is amino based and doesn't contain any cows milk protein at all. She said she doesn't think ds has a sleep issue or even a dummy issue as such but more that he is really uncomfortable and the flare up of the reflux symptoms suggests the intolerance.
She suggested taking no action on the dummy front for now and going back to GP / buying a tub of neocate and seeing how things are after 10 days. So off I went to boots and bought a tub (at £51!). Phoned the docs and was lucky to get a cancellation for today. Gp wholeheartedly agreed that ds has built an intolerance and so prescribed the neocate to try in the meantime whilst we wait for an appt with paediatrics. I feel terrible that I never realised it was the milk. Should've really clicked when doubling the omeprazole didn't really do much. The sucking-the-dummy-ferociously action is soothing as it helps produce excess saliva which neutralises the acid.

Just thought I would update you guys as you might come across it at some point (hopefully not though!).

Ah i am so glad you have found the probable cause, and that the sleep consultant and GP agree on it (which isn't always a given!) Now you have a prescription can you get a refund on the one you bought?! If not I guess the £51 will still be worth it for a happier DS and more rest for you x

NameChange30 · 08/08/2017 22:53

Also please try not to feel bad about not realising sooner. You couldn't have known. You are doing your best and you're doing brilliantly. And you've realised now which is the most important thing.

MotherofA · 08/08/2017 23:15

I really feel for you purple . Fingers crossed that you both get some settled and enjoy some sleep now x

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/08/2017 23:39

Not your fault. Tbh the doctor should have picked it up

They hate prescribing neocate as more costly then nutri. But as you said it's better as doesn't contain the proteins

Still tastes foul tho 😉

Ouch at scrubbed spots :( why would a mum do that :( p

Yeah we we're shocked as well. She has a young baby as well and she thought it would get the CP out if the house faster so her baby wouldn't catch them! Didn't work obviously she still caught them!

Any way DD has done sooooo much better with her feeds today, had her df at 11:45 bringing her total to 29oz for the day Grin yay

MotherofA · 09/08/2017 00:42

That's great ! My DD just woke for a feed and is now talking very loudly !

Carolann8584 · 09/08/2017 00:44

Awww love baby babble. Not as much as gone midnight but one flash of the smile and I melt Grin

Carolann8584 · 09/08/2017 12:02

Weekly trip to MILs. Just got here. Want to leave already 😭

Carolann8584 · 09/08/2017 12:48

Aaaaaargh going to scream!! DD looks shattered, rubbing her eyes etc told MIL she's tired and she's still waving toys in her face and "entertaining" her. Have told her 3 times just let her sit and chill as there's too much going for her to go sleep so just let her chill! FFS

NameChange30 · 09/08/2017 12:51

Carol
I've had this with relatives, I feel your pain as it was really annoying. I suggest you take your DD into another room for some quiet time. You could explain you're going to try and put her down for a nap... or not say anything and just do it!

Carolann8584 · 09/08/2017 13:04

Getting worse both SILs have come round with kids to see DD! Really want to leave

purpleviolet1 · 09/08/2017 13:44

Thanks all, onwards and upwards eh. First time mum and so much to learn!

Ouch feel your pain carol.. similar thing will happen with me today no doubt Hmm
