May 2017 #16 Sleep deprivation, mumnesia and first smiles

New thread to celebrate the small things (like first smiles and eating steak with one hand), commiserate over the less fabulous stuff (poonamies, vomit eruptions and wind spring to mind) and someone to talk to at 4am Grin

rocky mine didn't come back til 7 months last time.

Poor baby Bees is suffering after her 8 week jabs. She's normally such a content baby. The doctor says she has a clicky hip so we have to go for a scan next week. Hopefully it will be nothing to worry about.

@esmes that's good to hear!

Sorry to hear about your LO - it's heart breaking isn't it? But preferable to those horrible diseases I guess.
Fingers crossed all is fine with baby Esme's hips.

Quick question for those bf - do you feel your babies feed much more some days than others? I really feel like my little boy is muvhh hungrier some days although I know you can't really know how much they are taking in. Today felt like he didn't feed all that much and he is passed out asleep.

Last baby I BF 14 months and got AF back a month after I stopped.

savagehk · 27/07/2017 22:17

grey yes, I guess so, depends on heat and all sorts of other things too. And sometimes she likes a long drawn out feed, savouring every suck, others much more if a wolfing down.

Last time about a year without periods.

Sipperskipper · 28/07/2017 07:16

I stopped bf at 6 weeks and period came about 2 weeks later. Thought it would be really bad (have always suffered with painful periods) but was fine. Was lovely having a year off though!

I have PCOS, so my periods are all over the place anyway.
I was on the depo injection before the babies, and had no periods. No contraceptive between the two and think I had two or three periods in the 9 months, and I was EBF.
I've just been fitted with a coil this time and it seems to have prompted a period already, not even a week after fitting! I'd already had one a few weeks ago. It's all so confusing I'm just glad I'm at home most of the time so can catch it when it starts!

Are we (finally!) due a new thread?! Grin

Mine came back at 13m last time, when DS starting sleeping a bit better. Hopefully it'll be the same this time - I'd feel very cheated of it came back after a few months while ebf!

I've just started probiotics for DD, maybe that'll help with her gut problems.

I think I do cradle hold, hold her top half up with whichever side she's feeding on and the other round her legs. Or lying down at night.

Thank you @barnes79 glad he is clinging to his line and gaining at the moment. Well done for deciding not to panic. It is all rather anxiety inducing, this motherhood thing.

I am in my room at the hospital now a few hours post op. I've just expressed because I don't feel well enough to feed. I think the recovery from this op is quite likely to see me ending up mix feeding or possibly stopping bfing - both because I will probably skip some feeds and because right now I'm feeling like my body has given enough, with this op!

Feel better soon @CoxsOrangePippin !

We've hit some sort of regression over the last 48 hours. Sad Having spaced out feeds a little more himself we're back to 1.5/2 hourly with screaming and pulling off the boob at the end of the feed. No idea what this means! And short naps because he's waking hungry. I think.

Get well soon @CoxsOrangePippin

I had a very grumpy baby last evening, sore tummy, hungry and tired... turned my normally happy calm baby into a screaming mess 😣 Once I finally got her to sleep I was stuck in that position for 4 hours (properly tired) had a numb bum, was making choices between drinking and needing the loo 🤔 She still wasn't herself til this afternoon when we had a massive poosplosion.... up to her armpits level of explosion 😱😱 Now she's back to her normal happy self 😁

Probably too warm for you southern ladies but primark currently have a whole load of bright cut off hoodies for £7.... when paired with some of their vest tops they make very cheap versions of nursing tops 😁

I am so very jealous of the missing periods 😣

@WishIWasSleeping yes we need a new thread soon.... we should start thinking of a name, given how slow my brain is at the moment I think it may take a while!

@teainbed is it warm over there or is it another leap? Hang in there 😊

Thanks for link barnes, I'll try out the exercises. Thanks tea, yes I use pillows and she's only 8lbs anyway! Shock

Hope you heal well and recover quickly cox. What a thing to have to go through after pregnancy, birth and looking after a newborn!

acorn are you taking the probiotics yourself? I bought some too hoping they'd pass through my milk to baby Badger....

Am I the only one who goes up to bed with baby when it's their bedtime and stays there?

Don't know why I'm asking really, prob best I don't know as I'm not going to stop doing it. Just had a hard couple of days (v fussy Velcrobaby who micronaps Sad) and am up in bed alone feeding baby before 9pm on Fri night whilst my family enjoy their eve downstairs as usual.

Sorry for the moan. Am just exhausted and have had enough today Confused

@badgerbird - I do!! I love my early bed time. In bed by 9pm with baby. He has a late evening nap until around 8 and then wakes for a bit before settling for the night. Bit lost now love island has finished but I am sure I will find something equally trashy to entertain myself 😁

@Badgerbird no I'm here too, this is why I watch so much crap tv 😉 it's just easier to stay up here.

In the week DH tends to be sorting stuff for work the next day but today he's been in the pub since 1pm.... he's surprisingly sober (or he's been practicing on the train)but he's not going to enjoy tomorrow 😉

Badger I'm not taking the probiotics myself as it hadn't occurred to me, as I was recommended specific infant ones. But when I was reading up on them today there were articles about it passing through the milk, I think it does.

In the evenings I keep DD asleep on me while me & DH watch an episode of something then I go up to bed with her. Try to aim for an early night but sometimes it takes so long to get DS to sleep then DD kicks off and then it's almost midnight before I know it.

rise and zoo when I mean bed I mean no tv just baby and me feeding on bed in dark room then she's in cot next to me asleep and I go to sleep too.
It would be way too overstimulating for her if tv was on. Tbf I need that first chunk of sleep to get me through rest of night so staying awake watching tv whilst she slept wouldn't work anyway.
It just gets a bit Confused sometimes and my DH works till quite late so don't see eachother much it feels. Still, this phase doesn't last forever (she says convincingly to herself!)

WishIWasSleeping · 29/07/2017 11:55

Badger - I also go to sleep when they do! During the week we all go to my bed at DDs bedtime and there we stay until she goes to sleep! Then (as I'm usually feeding DS) wait until he's asleep and then I get up to pee, and get back into bed to sleep. It's the best feeling ever! Grin

Baby Rise rolled over today, front to back!! Part of me is impressed, part of me is hoping it was a fluke... not quite ready for her not to be on the changing mat where I left her 😱

Rolling is very exciting @1004Rise ! No sign of that here.

I've Googled 'screaming after breastfeeding 15 weeks' and read about a million links and concluded that it could be anything. Confused Hunger, too full, wind, constipation, thrush, teething, developmental leap, tiredness, distracted and many many more. Happy days!

Thanks for the good wishes. Feeling pretty rubbish, had forgotten how much it all hurt! You're right badgerbird it's just rather a lot, just as I was starting to see there might be light at the end of the newborn tunnel! Still hopefully I'll feel loads better in a few days.

@rise rocky did that a couple of times some time around week 7 I think then didn't do it for a while. I reckon it was unintentional over-balancing! Never leave rocky on front anyway though - just in case!

@coxs hope you're feeling better very soon. What a rubbish thing to have to go through.

@tea step away from the Google! Grin is babytea crying after every feed? Or just some...? I can't really provide much help but fingers crossed it sorts itself. Weren't you thinking about a formula top up - was that because he seems hungry still?
