New thread to celebrate the small things (like first smiles and eating steak with one hand), commiserate over the less fabulous stuff (poonamies, vomit eruptions and wind spring to mind) and someone to talk to at 4am Grin

@Rockyroad17 I have the ergo and really like it. It's easy to use and because the weight is evenly spread it doesn't feel heavy.
He gets a bit warm but nothing I have felt I need to worry about.

@Badgerbird I've found it ok, but I do have long arms! I put it on like a back pack but on the front, do the bottom Velcro and clip bits, take out one arm, put rabbit in and then put my other arm in then do the top buckle. Once you have the hang of where it is it's ok.

uptown8617 · 20/07/2017 17:45

I've used the connecta and beco Gemini from my local sling library and have bought the Gemini as I really liked it.

I started with a close caboo but couldn't get on with it and baby didn't like it. I prefer the security of a buckle carrier. He's slept in both of the others every time without fail.

PeachIcedT · 20/07/2017 17:56

I also was recommended the Beco Gemini from my local sling library and bought my own. It doesn't need a newborn insert, is front and rear facing and can be worn as a backpack. Also is very comfortable and fairly easy to put on.

Look what we found on our outing today. A different type of baby but just as cute.

Random spam!

We have a caboo and an ergo. Baby W likes the caboo but mostly my husband wears it. I need to get some practice in and maybe start wearing her around the house.

Definitely open the London meet to the Facebook group @RasperryInAMelon but I wonder if adding NCT people is a bit too complicated?

CoxsOrangePippin · 20/07/2017 18:38

Thank you all for the reassurance re centiles x

KLane · 20/07/2017 19:26

@Rockyroad17 I have both the Caboo and Ergo360 cool air (the cool air clips in the back rather than Velcro like the regular 360 and baby gets less warm). The Caboo is okay for me at home but he's getting heavier and it doesn't provide any support. Both DH and I love the ergo. The newborn insert is only needed up to 12lb. It's such a comfy sling to wear and has a much longer lifespan than the Caboo.

DH has a bit of trouble with the upper clip (though he's incredibly inflexible) but I don't at all.

FoxMulder · 20/07/2017 19:29

I wear my hana baby wrap non stop. She sleeps in it loads. For a buckle one the Sleepy Nico is really nice.

vanilla8 · 20/07/2017 19:56

@Acorncat I have the same problem with the caboo, after a little while it slides down. But I do wear it lots around the house.
My husband likes 'his' bjorn miracle, I'm going to give it a rest run next week when we are in Ireland.

I'm up for the London meet up, although we are going on holiday towards the end of August.

@CoxsOrangePippin we have dropped to 9th centile, but baby vanilla seems alert and happy, means we are still in up to 1 month clothes and I'm getting a few wears out of them!

Rockyroad17 · 20/07/2017 23:32

Thank you for all the tips re the baby carriers. @esmes I guess I should probably stop being so defeatist and actually give the manduca a proper trial before forking out for a very similar carrier! I assumed The zip needed to be done up to make it smaller and I only noticed the flap after I had taken it off for the final time! The cool ergo sounds good as I am a very warm person and am always fretting about whether baby rocky is getting too hot.

Rockyroad17 · 20/07/2017 23:35

@vanilla I basically am going to have to have several more babies just to get full use out of all of the clothes I have barely used. I have on several occasions done an outfit change to get a photo of baby rocky in a particular gift before it has been outgrown Grin

Rustler74 · 20/07/2017 23:49

@CoxsOrangePippin don't worry re centiles, as long as baby is gaining weight and alert and happy. Some babies are born at pumped up weight due to GDM, overdue etc and drop off centiles until they find their 'true' centile, particularly when breastfeeding.

London Park picnic it is! Victoria ? St James? Needs to have tube station with step free access nearby.

Rockyroad17 · 20/07/2017 23:57

Just to clarify I am joking about having babies to get use out of clothes... The last person I said that to took me very seriously! Confused

MrsJW15 · 21/07/2017 04:23

😁 @Rockyroad17 an extreme solution!

@Rustler74 St James's Park is very central and Westminster is step free. Also very close to the south bank so if it is wet it's minimal change to journeys. So that might be the best option?

Barnes79 · 21/07/2017 05:39

Help!!

LO had 8wk jabs yesterday and ever since he won't be put down and screams if we do. Even a dummy won't help. He hasn't slept most of the night and neither have myself or DH. I'm considering getting him a GP appt as surely this isn't normal? If it was jab reaction wouldn't it have worn off by now? I'm also aware his wet nappies may have decreased over the last couple of days...

savagehk · 21/07/2017 05:55

@barnes79 definitely. Hopefully they just tell you he's feeling a bit sore but with the newish men b vaccine I'd have him looked over.

EsmesBees · 21/07/2017 06:35

rocky the Manduca does get hot. It's the one thing I don't like about it.

Rustler how about green park? It's right by the tube and there are lifts. Mid august not great for me as will be settling DD into new nursery, but maybe early September?

newbieho · 21/07/2017 07:28

@FoxMulder @teainbed my hana wrap slips down sometimes even if the baby is not very heavy. Am I tying it too lose? I am trying to make it as tight as possible.

@vanilla8 I am a bit worried about baby hips position in baby bjorn. His hips are dangling from this carrier and wouldn't be in recommended position.

It would be great to meet with our babies! If the meetup date does not collide with a few things we have got booked already (like second set of jabs) myself and the little boy will be there.

Rockyroad17 · 21/07/2017 07:55

@Barnes- I would. Baby rocky was very fretful after the jabs - was clearly tired but woke up crying with every tiny noise - but settled and slept for a good 5 hours straight and was back to normal within 12 hours ish.

newbieho · 21/07/2017 08:06

Bilingual/ multilingual parents - are you using OPOL (one parent one language) method when taking to your babies?

Barnes79 · 21/07/2017 09:14

Been to the gp and we're being sent to the hospital for review by a paediatrician.

BouncingBlueberry · 21/07/2017 09:20

Hope the hospital are helpful @Barnes79 . We've got our jabs next week at eight and a half weeks and I'm starting to worry about them now.

newbieho · 21/07/2017 09:22

Fingers crossed @Barnes79 x

CoxsOrangePippin · 21/07/2017 09:25

@rustler74 that feels plausible to me - I'm small and DH is skinny. And I was born bigger than Pippin but dropped to the 2nd centile.
It just really gave me the heebie-jeebies when the dr said that it would probably correct itself as Pippin has lots of wet and dirty nappies but if not then Pippin might have for example a problem absorbing food Shock hopefully he really did mean that as an example not a hypothesis...
