And huge respect to EaH, without whose efforts we never would have had a list

(And yes, I am one of those sad people who finds things like temperature sensors in cars really interesting. Nerd.)

EAH- am at how organised you are, was also reading your post on another thread about getting organised. You have inspired me to sort out my house!!

Got loads of sleep last night, my parents came round last night to look after DS as I was knackered and DH was working and I went to bad at 8.30. Gave DS a bottle of EBM at 10.30 last night and he slept through until 4.30am!!! Will definitely be doing that from now on!!

The only problem with a dreamfeed is that DS poos every time we feed him so we have to change him. I thought poos were supposed to slow down to about 3ish a day?

wilkie50 · 08/03/2007 12:18

Trixy - 3 poos a day??? I'm lucky (?!) if we get 1 per day....but when he goes, boy does he go!!!

2Happy · 08/03/2007 14:35

Afternoon all.
Poo again? We get just about one per feed, so that's up to 8 a day. That's a lot of nappies, I wish there was a Tesco nearby, lol! Someone said they were using Morrisons - are they any good?
Hope all the lo's ok after their jabs - I remember hating having ds1 jabbed, but liking the after effects - he used to sleep for about 2 days afterwards!
Wilkie - I haven#t seen KR about, how was she last time you heard from her? Best wishes if you're lucking, KR.
EaH - your lucky kids, they'll love all that when they're older. I must do something for ds2, poor boy - dh never even got off his arse to put an announcement in the local rag for him!
Been looking at everyone's pics, and you're all right, they re blooming gorgeous the lot of them
Keep finding myself talking about "next time" , by the time ds2 was an hour old I'd pretty much decided never again, lol! Maybe not just yet though!
D'you think all our dh/p's will remember mother's daY? dh said the other day "your family don't believe in that sort of thing, do you?"

Hi all,

Just been to a new mums get together - bumped into another MNetter who had also been looking for local pregnancy yoga ages ago and we had posted the odd update!! We discussed our handles - classic - decided Galmum made me sound like a teenage Mum, which unfortunately I am not - 35 - way too old!

Have faith 2Happy - LO has gone from poo in every (yes!) single nappy to 2 a day this week - the only thing is I'm now waiting for the explosion and necessary decontamination afterwards!

EaH - I do understand what you mean - I'm the third child and there are probably about 10 photos of me under 5!! I have written down her first smile in some rubbishy book with a plan to transfer it to a better one at some point.

I am SERIOUSLY BROODY!! Dh and I are talking about trying for another baby fairly soonish - maybe when LO is 6 months old!! I must shift some weight beforehand though and start to be bothered to actually have sex!

Shimmer · 08/03/2007 15:18

Good God 2Happy 8 poos a day!! Wow. Like you Wilkie, we get about 1, sometimes 2 a day.

EAH you have inspired me to ge organized and sort out the 5 million photos and other baby bits that are lying around the place at the moment and put them somewhere safe. Thanks!

Was meant to be taking freddie for his jabs today but chickened out He's only just 2 months today so i reckon waiting 1 more week won't hurt and DP is off work next thursday so he can come with us for some moral support.

SO excited when i woke up this morning... Freddie slept through from 9:30 til 6am!!! I couldn't believe it. I did give him a lot of milk before he went down last night as he seemed particually hungry, so it obviously did the trick! Fingers crossed it wasn't just a one off and he does it again tonight!

carrotcake · 08/03/2007 15:23

That's what I was eating when I signed up to mnet, Wilkie, obviously wasn't feeling very inspired about names! Yum, I haven't had any for ages actually, last piece was served to me without the cream cheese icing . Not the same thing at all...

2Happy · 08/03/2007 15:27

Ooh, I randomly have a fridge full of carrots ATM... Mmmm, carrotcake....

I love the name carrotcake - thinking maybe I should change my name to lemondrizzle - my fav cake!

theUrbanDryad · 08/03/2007 16:46

hi everyone!
only just got in from having a walk with 2 ladies from my antenatal class. we ended up going to one of their houses for lunch which was great, but Zac did a massive poo while we were out which went all over his dungarees!! luckily i had some clean trousers with me but they were really tight and i think they need to go on the pile for the next baby!!

laughalot · 08/03/2007 17:16

Hi everyone not had time to catch up yet but just wanted to let you know how I got on at the docs with laurens jabs , doc checks them over before giving injection and he casually said he needs to refer her to the hospital as she has a extra crease in her left leg basically to me it looks like a extra roll of fat but apparently its to do with her hips I cried when I left I just wish they would tell you more rather than just saying she needs to see a specalist, also because she isnt exactly 8 weeks they said not to give her capol tonight which made me even more angry so I rung the chemist when I got in to make sure they said to give it to her as she is 8 weeks on sunday.

Laughalot - our lo had a hip scan at 6 weeks. It's routine here for all breech babies. She was fine, but I was told hip problems are really common and not troublesome provided they are caught at a young age (before age 1). Something to do with the bones being soft. Hope you're ok.

wilkie50 · 08/03/2007 18:54

Oh Laughalot sorry to hear that but please try not to worry too much, I'm sure it is just routine

laughalot · 08/03/2007 19:12

Thanks everyone its just horrible when you think all is ok and then find youve got to go to hospital.

2Happy · 08/03/2007 19:35

sorry to hear about that laughalot, but also sorry no-one took the time to talk to you properly about it. can you call your hv for a better chat? hs the gp, or the paed when dd was born ever expressed worry about her hips when they did the clicky hips test?

well i've had the situation i've been dreading for months tonight. ds1's bedtime (and overtired as no nap today), supper cooking, ds2 screaming his head off....and dh gets called out on an emergency, agh!! had to leave ds2 screaming while read ds1 his stories and got him into bed. broccoli left to its own devices! what i'll do if ds1 doesn't go to sleep (can be difficult when he's overtired) i don't know. i'm now pcifying ds2, don't think i'll be getting near the mushy broccoli for a while

theUrbanDryad · 08/03/2007 20:13

laughalot - hope everything's ok, sorry, no words of wisdom for you just lots of good wishes from here

2Happy - hope your evening improves!

i've just put Zac down - he's been very clingy today and i'm really really hoping he stays asleep!

Dragonhart · 08/03/2007 22:52

Laughalot, so sorry about lo hips, must be really worrying. Hope you get the proper info asap. xxx

No smiles yet. Spoke to the HV on wed and she said she will speak to my doctor and see what he thinks. She made me worry even more.

Also our clinic has reduced its hours and now half the time is taken up by a 'baby cafe'. The hv was speaking to me as they were setting up and she pretty much told me I wasnt welcome as they had no 'creche facilities' for ds1 (he was trying to pull a turny thing full of leaflets down at the time but still!). Went home and had a cup of tea on my own!

However, DS1 did two wees on the toilet today! I know he would potty train really well if we did it now but just cant face it while bf ruth. The idea of having to grab a potty and get ds1 nappy off while feeding her just seems too much!

Dragonhart · 08/03/2007 22:53

btw, Ruth fine after her injections. Gave her calpol and she slept from 7.30 to 7!! Wish I could give it to her every night!!

RGee · 09/03/2007 07:41

Morning all! What time do you all get up? I'm sure I'm always first on here in the morning. But I do go to bed c 9pm, two hours after the lo. She gets up at 8am and I get up after the 5.30am feed.

Dragonheart - about your HV comments. I can't beleive they told you that you weren't welcome. That's dreadful. I'll have a virtual cup of tea with you.

Hope you all have a good day. I'm quite excited today as tomorrow is dh birthday and we're going on our first night out whilst mil babysits! Can't wait!

theUrbanDryad · 09/03/2007 07:49

DH - that's rubbish about your clinic! i go to a baby cafe and there are kids of all ages there, from timy babies to 3 year olds! they should find somewhere else to hold it, the one in our town is held in the Quaker meeting hall!!

wilkie50 · 09/03/2007 08:03

Hello all. Well, had a good night - put J down early at 7.45pm, he slept till 2am, 5am and up at 7.30am. Don't think this boy is ever going to sleep through though.

Got him weighe yesterday - 11lb 8oz OMG!!!! That's 4lb 8oz since birth (8 weeks).

2Happy - sorry but your evening made me laugh and thank the lord I only have one ATM

DH - try not to worry too much about the smiles. How old is your LO now? HV seem to have an uncanny knack of worrying us. J has a little white lump on his nipple that has been weeping a bit, showed the HV who told me to go straight through and see the dr. Dr took one look and said nothing to worry about, it's not infected, prob just hormone related and should disappear! I was starting to panic.

Well, I am going to get ready. BF is moving today and my DH and I are having her 15 month old (my goddaughter) for them. Could be interesting as she likes to throw things at J

Galmum · 09/03/2007 09:09

Hello all,

Glad to hear you had a good night Wilkie - we did too - LO slept from 9.30 to 4.30!! I can't quite believe how good she's being at night at the moment...

2Happy - can you grow yourself another pair of hands - I must imagine that bedtime with 2 LOs must be challenging. Explains why friend of mine, who found out dh started an affair when oldest was 2 yrs old and youngest was 8 months old, was not best pleased about all those bedtimes when poor dh was "working late" !

Suggested to dh that he joined MNetters so he could look at the product reviews and I explained that there is a Dad's section - "what would I talk about?" he asked .."oh I know...how much are you getting?"!!!!!

They don't change do they - I must admit we could n't stop laughing at the sum total of my husband's parenting questions!!

carrotcake · 09/03/2007 09:58

That's outrageous, dragon, are you supposed to get childcare to take your baby to the cafe? Not very bloody supportive...

sorry to hear about your LO hip worries, laughalot, hope it's sorted out soon.

Anyone get rid of mastitis without antibiotics? I thought he'd just latched on badly as it's been hurting the last couple of days but started to feel really fluey last night and it a bit redder and harder today. going to docs in a minute in case it gets worse over the weekend but would prefer to avoid them if I can.. I know it probably says somehwere on the old thread but feel to rough to scroll through

Muckypup · 09/03/2007 10:33

Hi all

Laughalot - thinking of you. Hope you get good news from the specialist.

I went to my first baby massage class this week and it was fantastic. Really recommend it if you've got anything similar near you. Ours is free and it's a really nice place to go and meet other mums and Leo seemed to like it.

Has anyone else had a six week growth spurt? How long does it last? Leo used to feed just twice between 7pm and 7am but last night he fed at 10pm, 1am, 3am, 4.30am, 6.00am and 7.15am! I am exhausted and hoping this won't last too long. I ended up sleeping with him on my tummy as I was too tired to wait til he settled each time. He fed more than normal the night before too.

DS is now smiling lots which is really fun.

Muckypup · 09/03/2007 10:37

Carrotcake - Sorry you are not feeling well.

I have no previous experience but I found this on another old thread about mastisis.

hello motherearth - i have had mastitis with both my ds1 and ds2. if you don't want to take the antibiotics because of fear of it being in the breastmilk i found homeopathic remedy 'phytolacca' from weleda (most health food shops should have it)worked. i was at the end of my tether as i had antiobiotics twice before and found out about it through word of mouth. hot flannel soaked in chamomile tea also helped and most of all savoy cabbage is the quickest way to drain the blockage (store in fridge) i used it when my milk came in and i was engorged and my midwife told me it would reduce my milk supply. plus lots and lots of rest.
