Astrophe · 17/11/2007 22:47

you mean for me^^ tomorrow! Actually, it IS my lie in tomorrow...(although you can bet I would wake up and still find the mess waiting for me )

Astrophe · 17/11/2007 22:48

me...silly me

Frizbe · 18/11/2007 19:40

{{{hugs}}} for ds not going to sleep by himself Astro, you're doing the right stuff there though, guess its a phase thing not that, that helps much.....does he have a night light? dd2 is better in her bed now that she has one.

{{{hugs}}}} to you too LL, not nice for you or Kiah having the squits visit your house hope she's a bit better today? I wasn't expecting you to make the opening tbh, but thought I'd ask!

Do we think we'll manage a sunday then ladies?

Astrophe · 18/11/2007 20:06

Thanks unfortunately its not a phase - he has never really got the hang of it! we moved him into DDs room, but its no better. Next thing to try is take the side off the cot, which worked for a friend's DD the same age. DS is sceaming atm, and DD shouting "GO TO SLEEEEEEEEEP!!". Ah. I'm going to stand at the wondow and watch the SNOW and ignore them!

Frizbe · 18/11/2007 20:18

Oh Astro sorry!
I'd put him to bed before dd, see if that works, then at least dd doesn't have to listen to him eh or do you do that already?
The snow is great isn't it, I'm so hoping that it doesn't melt before tomorrow.
Dh is hoping to get snowed in, but I think that may not happen.

UniS · 19/11/2007 16:53

SNOW- wow. I heard about that on teh radio. forgot it would be you guys. seems such a long way away from Devon. We just have rain rain and rain.
However, boy does now have a warm coat, I found it in a charity shop, its beautiful, hand made, blue with train patchworked on the back, tractor on the front, reversable so tarten lining, wraps over at front and has big toggles, is quilted and has big soft coller like a built in scarf. £2. It had boys name on so to speak and he loves it and is willing to wear it. not waterproof but hey, can;t have every thing.
Ought to go and get rice pud in te oven. boy asleep, suspect he will be grumpy sod if I wake him up. Waiting to hear if Yoga class is on tonight or no.

Frizbe · 19/11/2007 22:44

Hope you got to do Yoga Uni, I miss going, but there's nothing on here that I can get to at the moment, bit pissed off with local leisure centre at mo actually, as new centre opens next week, but the extra and later classes they've been promising aren't happening until Jan at least so looks like I won't be able to do anything different to what I already do for at least another month

Snow was great, very sad to see it had all gone this am, I reckon we got about 2inches last night before the melt.....

and dd2 had to be woken up at 7.30am today!

Astro, how's the bedtime thing going??

LL have you gotten rid of the squits yet?

Astrophe · 20/11/2007 09:28

Bedtime - last night DH was out again and I was sitting listening to screaming again and thinking "my life is so boring" again. I couldn't face going up to him after a few times, so I left him to it and he cried for 40 minutes and then went t sleep. I felt really bad. But I would have shaken him if I'd gone up. He has never actually cried himself to sleep before though - he either settles and goes to sleep himself (rarely, and not for weeks and weeks), or cries and gets himself into a state and will be wound up for hours. So 40 minutes is progress, and I think I will try some sort of CC again tonight. I might not let him nap today, as that will help to sleep more quickly.

Bother about the gym. What classes will you/do you do? I do a ballet fit class once a week, which I really like. I was doing Salsaerobics, but I was rediculously unco ordinated and spent the whole time laughing rather than excersizing!

Ooh, and speaking of gym - little boast - I have lost 10kg! Ok, so its taken me 6 months, but I feel like I will be able to keep it off as its been slow and steady. I am doing serious dieting for the next fortnight to give myself a bit of a boost before I go to Paris (and put it all back on!), and then I will press on with the last 5kg or so. Hurrah!

LL, how is Kiah?

laundrylover · 20/11/2007 11:11

Oh Astro, your bedtimes sound like a nightmare but I think you are right to leave him to cry. I know it feels awful but he is 19 months old now and big enough to learn. Luckily Kiah is often spark out before Tilly but sometimes I do just leave her and go downstairs. Stick with it and it will get better soon. Does he still have a sleep in the day? Well done on your 10 kg - you must be a real skinny minnie by now.

Kiah's squits have departed but now my sis and BIL are off work with a similar bug. We went to a really boring wedding on Sunday night - what a letdown for a rare night out.

SNOW!!!! Missed this - was it on Sunday night then? We had some sleet driving back from the wedding but nothing more.

Well, I put on 2 pounds this week which is the most I have ever gained since starting SW. It has really got me down altho I still had a curry last night. Must try harder!!

Uni, that coat sounds fab - bargain!!!

UniS · 20/11/2007 16:27

bad bedtimes, sympathy. boy does hate waking up. late afternoon hes horrid if he hasn;t had a nap and horrid if he has coz he didn;t want to wake up. Hohum, hes just horrid from 5-6pm what ever I do.
pissed it down all day here. dull dull dulll. went to childrens centre in teh afternoon, that was worth going out for a chaneg of scenery , boy is very keen on playing with dolls at the mo and we don;t have any at home. One of the centre dolls had its nappy changed several times and was bathed throughly.

laundrylover · 21/11/2007 10:35

Uni, Kiah loves playing with dolls - she was pushing Tilly's little buggy around way before she could walk. Those £5 folding buggies are a great buy and good for taking on holiday or to friend's houses to keep them occupied - Xmas pressie idea for the boy? I have bought nappies from Twinkle on the web - they are premmie nappies but also sold as dolls ones and are very cute. Tilly sometimes bfeeds her dolls but Kiah never does which is surpising with her love of booby.

Just back from a run - did 30 minutes without stopping so think that is good for my second time. Once I get going along the canal I feel fine but have to build it up slowly as my knee is a bit dicky. Just waiting for Transco to fix a gas leak in our garage then I can have a shower. Kids room is directly above the garage and we started noticing the gas smell at night - reckon they have been inhaling it for months. Maybe that's why they are waking up all night - let's hope Mr Transco can fix that problem too.

laundrylover · 21/11/2007 10:47

BTW can you have a look at my thread in Parenting about Jesus and the snack lady!!! Need some advice - Astro you'll know what to do!

Astrophe · 21/11/2007 11:38

LL, have posted.

Well done on the running! I think I need to start some running or similar if I want to crack on and lose the last bit more quickly. According to my BMI I am a healthy weight now (hurrah!) but would like to be a little lower to give myself a buffer!

Ho are you going with your weight loss goals? Are you still thinking of becoming a SW consultant?

We got our new House Series 3 DVD set today (we don't have a telly, so have not seen any of series 3 yet!) So looking forward to episode 1 with DH tonight

Astrophe · 21/11/2007 13:05

Long shot, and quite cheeky of me, but if any of you fancy taking a look at my picture trail... here actually unless you want a buggy with toddler seat, I can't imagine anything I have will be the right size. I still have those nappies LL if you think your sister might be interested, and also a brand new pumpkin patch cardi that is so cute by DD refuses to wear .

I sold a few things of here once about a year ago and they went really quickly, but nobody seems to be looking at the for sale threads anymore, which is a bit of a bummer!

I just bought 3 lovely tops for DS from another MNer though

Frizbe · 21/11/2007 21:51

Hi all, sorry Astro I don't need any clothes at the mo and your boots are too small for me! (I have big feet!) sorry to hear ds took all that time to pass out, but I too think you did the right thing its horrible to listen to at the time though, did he go ok tonight?

dd2 here has been trouping out on to the landing all night, she even brought her duvet and pillow at one point she was fine till I left dh putting her to bed last night whilst I went to Tescos over 5 times I've put her back tonight.....

LL glad you're kids are fixed again! sorry to hear about the duff wedding

Uni, ss loved doll's until he got to 2nd year at infants and one of his mates found out he had a barbie! his fav, colour used to be pink too, but boy's aren't allowed that at school.......

laundrylover · 22/11/2007 09:08

Friz, my friend's boy was just the same - loved dressing up in sparkly shoes- now whenever I see him he has a 'sword' (stick!)in one hand and is covered in mud. I wish more boys still dressed up as fairies in secondary school - it would certainly challenge the stereotypes!

DD2 sounds like she's really playing you up - I think we had a phase of this when Tilly moved to a bed. Am holding off with Kiah until one of my sisters needs the cot in summer....

The kids are really winding me up at the mo and am back to shouting lots last two days. Need some sleep or a higher dose of ADs - sleep would be better eh?

Astrophe · 22/11/2007 17:13

My friend's little boy (now not so little) had wonderful curly hair, which Kate let grow quite long. He also loved to wear his sisters dresses. Once when he was about 4 he was playing in the front garden and two old biddies walked past and could be heard saying "Oh, look at her, isn't she beautiful - what lovely hair". And as they stood admiring 'her', he hoped up onto the trampoline and started jumping - dress flying, and no pants on!

No he is 7 and rides bikes and trades cards and wields sticks with the best of them!

Astrophe · 22/11/2007 17:13

LL, can you get some chill out time soon to break the shouty pattern?

UniS · 22/11/2007 19:55

When small, my bro had curly hair and was by other peoples estimation a beautiful baby. he wasn't allowed to win teh bonny baby competition at a holiday camp we went to. 1st prize was a doll, he had to win the 2nd prize of stacking cups!
When we were older we would both be taken for boys as i had my hair short.

Frizbe · 22/11/2007 23:40

Uni, I got mistaken for a boy when I was about 18 by two biddies in the supermarket que behind me, they were admiring my hair! lol they got a shock when I turned round, weren't expcting a girl in leathers with a crash helmet!

{{{{hugs}}}}} LL, agree with Astro, any time out on the cards?

dd2 went to sleep ok tonight, tried to get out of bed 3 times, all 3 I was watching from our bedroom (diagonal) and yelled 'get back into bed' she passed out before 4th attempt

Just had a lovely meal with the girls, at a friends house

Astrophe · 26/11/2007 20:35

Hey everyone. Passing the time on MN whilst DS screams

He has gone to bed fine the past 5 nights when DH has put him down, but tonight DH is out, and we have had 30 mins of me going in to comfort so far, so now I will leave him to it (or strangle him).

You are ok?

laundrylover · 27/11/2007 10:26

Hi all,

have stacks of work to do in a child free hour so just a quickie.

My friend's husband died last Thurs night so has been a weird few days. Puts everything into perspective I tell you.

I took a card round yesterday and am organising a hamper of food and stuff from out toddler group (she is on the committee with me). What can you say to her though, it's just very unfair. Her boys are 5 and 1.

Astrophe · 27/11/2007 15:27

LL, how devestating - the poor woman, and children

I will pray for her, and for you as you work out how to be a good friend to her.

Frizbe · 27/11/2007 23:30

for your friend LL, such a shock when these things happen Your hamper sounds like a lovely idea.
How's things with you otherwise? is your sister doing ok?

Astro, why do they do that eh? play up for one parent and not the other dd1 asleep straight away tonight, dd2 rattling still at 9pm

So two proud mummy moments here in the last two days, dd1 back from nursery with an excellent certificate for french numbers and dd2 looked at me tonight and said poo mummy, I said, now??? she nodded, so I said, toilet like a big girl, and do you know, she legged it to downstairs loo, put dd1's seat on it and sat there till she'd done one which got her a round of applause from dd1 and I, probably the first and last time it happens, but
