Frizombie · 30/10/2007 14:16

hehe Top Gear was funny eh

LL, hit the classic button to get the old style back!

At shop so shouldn't be on here really, but here's my general post for the day!
Soooo hello everyone, are we all having a good Tuesday?
Bit quiet here today, all the kids back at school, so time to reflect on what needs doing in the shop, via a quick pop on here to say hi to you all! was up till 10.30 doing the accounts last night, but can report a good 1st week in business, hurrah Xmas Smile
So dd2 messed me around last night at 11pm, so I said, do you want to go back into your cot, no she said, so after another 5 mins of phaffing I put her into her cot (rather than her 1 week old donated bed) 2 mins later, she walks back into my bedroom, sigh....at least I can take the cot down now.....ended up doing the sit with your back turned at the side of the bed thing, till she calmed down enough to go back to sleep Xmas Hmm
dd1 is 4 on Thursday, where did that time go Xmas Shock

laundrylover · 30/10/2007 15:38

Oh that's so much better, thanks Friz!

Well, look at me I have two 4 year olds plus my two here since 8am and I am still sane!! Even managing to check emails and MN inbetween checking bums for good wipage and keeping an ear out on the role play. They are playing at adults - going to work and talking about people who've died. They're a bit obsessed by death at the mo but am just letting it go...this morning they were 'sharing a cigarette (straw)' which I did put a stop too!

We've been down to our local garden centre and made Boingy Bats and skeleton masks, walked to the park, had lunch and watched Mr Men video....thank god for the drugs though!!!!!

Frizombie · 30/10/2007 16:58

yay LL that sounds like a really fun day at the 'straw' though....where'd they get that from then? someone been passing around the baccy

I've been busy updating the shop blog this afternoon, along with a quick sneek on here, I reason that I was doing accounts till 10.30 last night, so therefore can have a spot of downtime now, right

laundrylover · 31/10/2007 10:41

I don't know where they got the ciggie idea from - we have a few friends who smoke but not really that the girls would see and I'm sure no-one has been passing a joint around for a long while.

I am really upset today 'cos I've lost a very special (and expensive) family ring in the mayhem of having all the kids yesterday. Kiah had it briefly (silly of me I know) and then last night I realised that I wasn't wearing it. DP has helped me search but nothing so far...any ideas where to look??

Update from me...day 32 and no AF (though I can go for anywhere between 25 and 36 days)...feeling a bit icky and had cramps for two days!!!! Erk!!! Went to chemist but a test was £7 and I refuse to pay that much. Will leave it another couple of days....

laundrylover · 31/10/2007 14:11

Just got my period. Life would be easier with a regular menstrual cycle!

laundrylover · 31/10/2007 14:12

Found my ring too -hurray. The little tyke had out it in the empty bum wipes tupperware tub which was waiting to be washed up.

UniS · 31/10/2007 16:27

Glad teh ring showed up. what d'ya think of new nickname, was trying a halloweeny one but failed to get opsts working with that one for some reason- probadly user error.

Just got the kitchen window dressed for halloween, its right by teh front door. pumpkin, random blue lighty up string, orange spider web, spider etc. Outside light has green filter round and a big furry spider underneath. Top hat is full of chocolate for boy's fan club who I'm sure will be round later wanting to see him and show off their fancy dress.

Astrophe · 31/10/2007 20:01

Evening all,
Not a great day today...took the dc to have their portraits take yesterday, at great expense, and found DS had taken to them with a ballpoint pen this morning while I was hanging nappies on the radiator ...he didn't get them all, but $40 down the drain

A very sore back from carrying DS around all day too, as he is tres whingey...NOT my favourite little by today! Hoping for a beter Thursday.

Any word on name yet Friz?

x

Frizbe · 02/11/2007 20:22

Oh no Astro for the cost of those portraits, is there nothing that can be done to rescue them I wonder?
Sorry did I not say cousins dd's name, been a bit crap of late haven't I! it's Poppy
Uni, your house dress up sounded good, I only had two pumpkins, and I think the big ditch in the garden put people off coming, a whole bowl of sweets and only 3 people in one go all night
LL, sorry for your period turning up, guess you're properly trying again now then?
Glad the ring turned up, phew!
Got dd1's birthday party this weekend, she was 4 yesterday, where did that time go then? dd2 has been skating around the living room on her sisters skates she can actually skate,(on carpet anyway) dh and I are aghast, she must have been here before so birthday party on sunday at lunch, then her friends party at teatime! nearly all day at Planet Happy! lol should make for happy kids, they're having to spend all of tomorrow at the shop, so will make up for it.

Astrophe · 02/11/2007 23:10

Wow, 4! That seems like a real Little Girl age, none of this 'toddler' business! I hope its a lovely weekend for you all Friz.
Poppy is such a pretty name - its on our short list for future DDs! Hurrah for cousin and Poppy

We are off to Stoke this weekend to view a Folding Camper, then back up to Derby to view a Mazda Bongo - potential travel vehicles for next years trip...where has THAT time gone? Seems like last week we arrived in the UK... After that DD is going to a birthday party - her friend's 5th b'day, at Pizza Hut, and no Mums staying (except for birthday girl's) ...what big girls!

Astrophe · 02/11/2007 23:12

re the portraits Friz, after much hysteria from me, DH has said he will go back to the shop tomorrow and see what can be done. Two pics were actually out of focus, so we need to make a fuss about that anyway.

UniS · 03/11/2007 21:26

Woo Hoo- I found 20 quid on thursday- in teh park, on kicking up leaves with boy. blew it all on yummy stuff at teh temp european market, so we are now stocked up with salami and chutney, and have chomped our way through chese, brandy snaps, clotted cream and marzipan.
Roller skates- EEEEK. I'm waiting to see if we can cadge some free ice skateing tickets.... teh christmas ice rink in town have twin bladed tots skates.
Any of you getting/given your riseing two a bike yet? we are wondering weather to go for 3 or 2 wheels. or maybe both.one for christmas one for birthday. Boy is bike nuts, he doesn't seem to quite "get" pedaling a trike, but loves scooting around with feet on the floor.

Frizbe · 05/11/2007 12:46

Hi Girls, what a weekend I'm all partied out! spent yesterday at Planet Happy as dd1 had her party there, then her mate had hers 2 hrs later had a lovely time, with some lovely presents, so a very happy dd1, she even got her yellow power ranger which is the best thing ever!
Good news for the kids cousin as well, he's been scouted by Birmingham City to go to their acadamy

Uni, great news re the 20 quid, so nice to have a good find food sounded yummy as well, we sometimes get a Euro market up here, but nothing so far this year?
dd2 has dd1's trike, but no bike, bike yet. One of the kids on our street had a bike, bike with stabilisers at 2 though as was great on it

Astro, so you're going next year already where did that time go! hope you get the photos sorted.

Frizbe · 05/11/2007 14:30

Astro you're needed here! www.mumsnet.com/Talk/2423/418068?ts=1194272970262&msgid=8482909

Astrophe · 05/11/2007 15:00

I've never been to Perth Friz!!! But I did go and give her some links and info

Glad DD had a great birthday and enjoyed it all, including power ranger!

Uni, I would go for either a scooter, trike, or balance/walk bike. Even the smallest 2 wheelers are pretty big, and its a long way to fall!

DD and DS are getting a scooter and walk bike to share. We have a trike (was from argos) which they find really hard to ride over our bumpy patio, because the crank is too short so they can't get enough leverage. So if you go for trike, look out for that - get one where the pedal is on a long crank and forms a large circle as it rotates...does that make any sense?

[http://www.thelittlebikecompany.co.uk/all-bikes.php lovely trikes and walk bikes here]]

lovely balance bikes here

We have bought our scooter (for A FIVER!!!) , not sure which bike we will choose, might let DH do the choosing as he has not bought any of the other Chrissy gifts yet.

Astrophe · 05/11/2007 15:06

try that again - balance bikes

and more here

Astrophe · 05/11/2007 15:09

dh got the two badly out of focus ones replaced, but no mercy shown for the ones ds ruined - don't think i will replace them (at £7.50 each ), will just print some of ours off photobox instead Christmas money being spent VERY quickly

Frizbe · 05/11/2007 15:43

Oh booo for the photo place where you got them done it wouldn't cost them that much to replace them.....can get get hold of the negatives?

Astrophe · 05/11/2007 19:27

it was Snappy Snaps - name and shame! I'm sure the paper costs them 50p or similar. I can't have negs as they own the copyright...but,just quietly, DH is going to scan the ones we have left at work and print them off. I wouldn't do it normally, but feel ok as we have already more than paid for the 15 minutes it took for the photographer to take the pictures!

LL, you out there? You ok?

Astrophe · 05/11/2007 19:34

aaargh, Uni, I have still not got those links right - gave you the same one twice. here are some great looking trikes and some more balance/walk bikes. Phew. Hope its right now...

laundrylover · 06/11/2007 11:35

Hi yes I'm here!!

Have been away from the computer for a few days so just caught up on the thread....birthdays, photos and twenty pound notes -it's all happening here!!!

I'm feeling a bit weird as my friend had her baby yesterday but hasn't texted/emailled or anything - I only found out because another friend let it slip last night - how can you have a 'secret' baby??? Odd. Think I might text her and say 'I heard on the grapevine...'. Would like to send a card - that's normal isn't it?

My sis had a scan yesterday and all was well so she is going public with the pregnancy. Her consultant wants her to have a CVS but they need to weigh up the risks etc. and make a decision in the next couple of weeks...

Off to London for two days so catch up again at weekend. Taking Tilly to see Angelina Ballerina (English Ballet Co) on Thurs and she is getting dressed up.

Frizbe · 06/11/2007 16:41

LL she'll love that

Yay for Sis, so glad things are looking ok for her. CVS is a tricky decision though eh, I think I'd go with gut feeling on that one, ya know?

Astro, I'd do the same

Getting a headache here, boooo, think its cause I've been on the computer for a lot of the day, been updating the blog, searching for more distributors etc etc...hope it goes away soon.

UniS · 06/11/2007 22:10

Astro- thanks for links, yes balance bike is what we were thinking of. Not keen on stabiliers. Balance bike to learn to balance, trike to learn pedaling and steering. I'm keeping ear to ground to find someone who has one of either or both we can borrow for a week to try. Toy libaray have neither unfortunatly.

Fire show last night was good, that my work over for a another month. prompt payers too had my cheque before teh show started. Hurrah, if only all customers were so good. heard that another show ( in Dec) want me as lighting designer rather than the chap they had last year. good news as that will be 10 days work. Only got a one day hole in my childcare arangements for it with 5 weeks to go...

Astrophe · 07/11/2007 09:19

Sounds great Uni! glad it went well.

We bought DD and DS one of the Puky balance bikes yesterday, from site called wondermom - £59 with free postage. We have got the original size, which will be a little big for DS I think, but right for DD, and DS can use the scooter until he grows longer legs.

Astrophe · 07/11/2007 09:22

LL - the ballet sounds wonderful! Is that in London, or somewhere up North?

I am trying to decide whether to take DD to panto in Derby - she is a bit scared of masks and sometimes costumes, so not sure if its a good idea!
